Huancahuasi - Review - La Victoria - Lima - The Infatuation

"For a taste of the Andes, Huancahuasi is where to be. The La Victoria outpost—an offshoot of its first home in Huancayo—radiates warmth from the moment you arrive. It feels like a permanent festival with colorful tablecloths, vibrant music, and earthy Andean flavors—think huancaína sauce ground on the batán, a thick cheese and chili sauce served over native potatoes, steaming meat-and-mote-packed patasca, and deep-fried guinea pig and rabbit. Beyond tradition, they boldly spin the classics, like pork ribs in goldenberry sauce. Breakfast here is also never a bad idea. Start with an ancestral soup like chupe verde or caldo de gallina, and share a pan con chicharrón with tamales and coffee. RESERVE A TABLE" - Paola Miglio

This is a classic local restaurant. The kind of place people in Lima have birthdays and celebrations. I had a cuy that I thought was going to be crispy but turned out to be sort of like a braised Chinese style chicken. It was amazing They seemed to have a really good desert menu and a huge variety. I'm not sure why when I got here they closed at 6:30pm which was earlier than the listed time

This chain of restaurants is turist safe (no post eating intestinal issues). I came here looking for patasca soup, and they also have cui (Guinea pig). The food is authentic, has a nice ambient, and you will find the menu to be very large andd appetizing. More of a classic adean cuisine, you will only find typical plates and no westernized menu choices. I recommend this place, and you won't be disappointed, the picture of the sampler, its center piece is cui, and i must admit it was very tasty.
