Kosushi

"The name comes from Japanese philosophy, as the word "ko" which means "turtle", is a reference to longevity and a link with the symbolism of the number 1. Opened in 1988 (in a different location) by chef George Yuji Koshoji, this Japanese restaurant, considerably less pompous than many others of its type, comes as a pleasant surprise thanks to the superb fish techniques and delicate presentation on display. A young, informal atmosphere with mood music providing a backdrop." - Michelin Inspector

Hi. Went again to have lunch with coworkers but feel we got ripped. We asked the waiter to recommend food and ended paying almost 3 times what I usually pay at this place, for a table of 6 people, per person. Went back to ask about the bill but they responded it was just their prices. Feel pretty bad about the situation since it's a place I used to enjoy very much

Fish was bland, rice was not cooked well. Service and atmosphere were nice. I would not recommend if you want to eat.

I recently dined at Kosushi in São Paulo, and I must say, it was a delightful experience overall. The restaurant's ambiance is modern and elegant, creating a great atmosphere for a special evening out. Now, let's talk about the food. The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Each piece of nigiri was a work of art in itself. The chef's attention to detail in both flavor and presentation was evident, and I appreciated their dedication to traditional Japanese techniques. The menu had a good variety of options, and I was particularly impressed with their specialty rolls. The creativity in combining ingredients while maintaining the authentic flavors was commendable. The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us navigate through the different choices. However, the reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the pricing. While the quality of the food and service is unquestionable, it is on the higher end in terms of cost. This may not be an everyday dining option for everyone. Overall, Kosushi is an excellent choice for a special occasion or when you're craving top-notch Japanese cuisine. If you're willing to splurge a bit, it's worth the experience.

Fresh fish, good technique and nicely presented dishes are things that come to mind at Kosushi. Heightened by a dimly lit setting and classy decor ideal for that romantic celebration. Overall it’s a nice sushi place with prices on the higher end. It used to have a Michelin star until 2018 practically guaranteeing that you’ll get good Japanese food. Sadly they do not have omakase (tasting menus) which would create an even better experience.

Best sushi i had in my life as i am from Canada. We dont have much of a japanease community. This restaurent has a well deserved michellin star. Also their special drinks were wonderfult i had a house gin tonic that was wonderfull highly recommend for a high end restaurent it was not too pricey either it cost us 80$ per person for 1 strat michellin. A real bargain if you compare with the US or Europe.

The best Japanese restaurant in the world. Very tasty sashimi, sushi. It was really great experience!

Google
Just good and over-hyped sushi. Really nothing special here but the decor. The food is acceptable but pricey even by Itaim standards. The staff, though I'm great number, seems never to find the right pace. There are much better spots for a great sushi experience in Sao Paulo.

Highly recommend, amazing food, selection and service. My personal experience: I personally like octopus a lot and there were many, more than 5 options, which is fairly rare, and all of incredible quality. But I'd recommend reserving a table

Yelp
Clean. Elegant. A touch of modern Japanese design. The service is excellent. Very few speak English, so if you don't speak Portuguese, prepare to use your translator. The food tasted very good and very high end. Atmosphere is elegant overall, music is not loud, and the lights are dimmed a bit for an ambiance.

Yelp
Overpriced and they use Tabasco as the spice of their sushi. Their wasabi is not legit and the service needs to be improved. The thing with the service is that even though São Paulo is a metropolis, the people with financial structure to visit places like this are the same; therefore, the employees are use to the 'same faces' and disregard a new client with a poor service. I would go back with loved ones once more to perhaps be wrong about my perception.

Yelp
We had an incredible meal at Kosushi! This was our first time in Sao Paulo and we were visiting from the United States. The staff was so helpful and the food was amazing! We asked for recommendations when ordering since the menu is so long, and everything that was suggested was great! It was a wonderful dining experience, but what made it stand out was how helpful the staff was when we were having technical difficulties getting back to our hotel. They went above and beyond to make sure we were able to get home even when our uber app wasn't working. We are so grateful for their kindness and it really added to an overall wonderful experience.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere and great food. The service is friendly and efficient (although they forgot to pour our wine). Food is good but not nobu level.

Yelp
Recent recommendation while I was in Sao Paolo. Firstly, BOOK A TABLE! went on a Tuesday and it was full! Really nice decor inside, luckily (due to my embarrassingly poor portuguese) the manager spoke English. We got sat at the Sushi bar which was perfect for us. Very trendy crowd but mixed. We asked to order a Sushi boat which we thought was quite standard in this type of restaurant but unfortunately they had no idea what we were on about so we just asked them to bring us their choice of sushi / sashimi. Really nice food and very quick service despite how busy they were. Definitely worth a visit but please take your phrasebook!!
