La Cuchara de San Lorenzo

"Impressively run by two brothers (Narciso front of house and Paco in the kitchen) who named this restaurant in homage to their love, since childhood, of dishes that are literally “eaten with a spoon” (cuchara). Occupying two floors, and more extensive since its renovation in a more contemporary style, its focus is on local and traditionally inspired cooking with a modern touch, with lots of attention to detail and daily specials influenced by market availability. Make sure you try the salmorejo, the veal croquettes, the mini-patatas bravas, the flamenquín, and classic dishes such as oxtail." - Michelin Inspector

This cozy restaurant offers traditional Spanish specialties with a modern twist where fresh seasonal ingredients offer original and tasty gastro experiences. We tried the Cod Brioche, The Salmorejo and a wonderful Leek with Ibérico Ham and Sea Scallops which was magnificent. Make sure you leave space for the amazing Creme Brûlée. The waitstaff were professional and helpful. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful meal at La Cuchara. Excellent service and some great cava and wine recommendations. The “Coca” foie and artichoke dishes were standout but everything was really great!

Lovely decorated place with modern takes on Spanish classics. Any place can have a bad day. Our visit was somewhat dampened by our main waitress who tolerated my faulty Spanish which seemed to have made her day worse indeed. I would recommend that the restaurant gives its dishes corresponding numbers for the staff to navigate between the Spanish and the English version of the menu as we ended up with not just 1 of 4 starters wrong but 2 of 4 main courses wrong. Clearly futile to make an issue, so we didn't and the dishes themselves were ok. She left the table without checking if we wanted to order wine or additional water which is not what I would consider hospitable. The guy who was serving the wine was genuinely friendly and the waitress with glasses was helpful as well which was much appreciated.

We just had a dinner at La Cuchara and it was exceptional! The food is excellent! Everything we ordered was very tasty: Anchovy toast, Garlic shrimp, Glazed lamb shank, Steak tartar and Brioche with mushrooms (not in the menu). The portions are not big, which I would consider as a plus in such a place, so you can try multiple dishes, but also not too small, so we didn’t have space for dessert which I really wanted to try (we are not used to eating a lot per meal). If I ever visit Cordoba, I would certainly have a dinner here. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality. The restaurant is more on a casual side and this is exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend!

Warm welcome, perfect Organisation of service. Welcome local dry wine for every table. Menu and wines in Spanish and English online. Great wine selection with fair prices. All dishes were excellent. Big portions and nice presented. It was a pity we were only two. For larger groups I recommend to order different starters and first courses to share, which is common here. Tartare and sirloin from old cows were vera aromatic and tasty. Usually we need salt and pepper, but here, everything was perfect spiced and arranged. The bred is a sin with olive oil! We even bought a bottle of red to take with us and they packed rest of the great almond soup, Mazamorra Cordobese, to take home . Thank you! We will come back

We were recommended this place after our first choice was closed. We didn’t have reservations but luckily got seated right when they opened! We totally lucked out. One of the best meals I have had in Spain! The steak was amazing. So perfectly rare with the large salt flakes on top! We still talk about how delicious the dishes were!!

Food was exceptional. Service really disappointing. Ordering started well but we had to remind the staff for our drinks and then felt completely abandoned after our second plates were served. We were not offered more wine once we had finished our first glass and no one came to ask us if we wanted any deserts. This went on for around 30 minutes at which point we left without ordering a desert or coffee. Even getting our bill was a challenge. A real shame as the food was amazing.

Wonderful evening here during our trip to Cordoba. Extensive choice from menu and many specials, all beautifully cooked and presented. Very good value also. Thoroughly deserves to be in the Michelin guide.
