The restaurant at La Revelia and the hotel were the highlight of our family's 3 week trip through Portugal and Spain. Walking the part of the El Camino Del Norte from San Sebastian to Bilbao, we decided to take a slight detour to La Revelia. What a great decision! We were met by the owner and chef who showed us to our rooms that are above the restaurant. The rooms were spacious and modern with a deck that overlooked the beautiful forest surrounding the property. From there, we had a late lunch in the spectacular restaurant. Everything (and I mean everything) was superb. The night before, we took a cab to a fancy 3 star Michelin restaurant to experience what we thought would be the highlight of our trip. It was a total let down, but La Revelia was the exact opposite. As the restaurant closed, we bought a bottle of wine to take to the room (note, their wine prices appear to be only about 15% or so above retail) and then went to enjoy their sauna and pool experience. You book the sauna and pool just for your family and when you arrive, there was a tray containing tea and some fun snacks. That night, the owner messaged us to ask if we would like breakfast in the morning. After the lunch we had, we said absolutely. It was a wonderful breakfast filled with smoked salmon, iberico ham, cheeses, fresh fruits, and eggs. What a way to start off on our final 20 kilometers to Bilbao! If you have a chance to visit La Revelia, Go!
