Lakasa

"A restaurant that is on the tip of everyone’s tongue and as such is full almost every day. Its updated take on traditional market-based cuisine is constantly being updated and includes the option of half-portions. Don’t miss the signature Idiazabal cheese fritters!" - Michelin Inspector

We were two at the time of our visit. Ordered several dishes to share. An amuse bouche was served before the dishes. We shared an idiazabal cheese fritter, duck and pork terrine with orange compote, sweetbread and cold veal tripe with pumpkin seeds. The cheese fritter was okay but nothing special. Pork terrine was delicious but the duck one wasn't at the same level. The sweetbreads were good, but to my liking it could have been crispier on the outside. Cold veal tripe was my most favourite dish, I really liked how they prepared it. Overall a decent restaurant with a modern atmosphere.

Came to celebrate my birthday. Everything put in my mouth was tasty. The server was friendly. Cheese fritters: cheesy, soft, like a little cheese bomb blowed in my mouth, very flavorful. Duck terrine: got a clean taste, perfect with bread and orange jam. Ensalada de corujas: the best salad I ever had, super refreshing. I loved the salad dressing so much that I used bread to dip every last drop. Seabass in curry sauce: I got different opinions on this dish. My friend said the sauce is overpowering, while I think it’s fine. The curry flavor reminded me of the curry sausage I had in Germany. Courgette flower: another amazing fried dish. Beetroot with mascarpone: a little dessert like. Beet and mascarpone are my two favorite things so I died for this combination. Main dishes were ok, not as impressive as the appetizers. Flan was amazing, perfectly done. Also love the cute birthday meringue plate they did!

Google
The food here is surprisingly fantastic and quite eye opening given that we have spent almost 10 days here in Spain. The artichoke, lamb and sangrias were amazing as they were flavorful and delicious. Although we (4 persons) shared the dishes, we left the restaurant satisfied and full as the portions weren’t too small. The dessert is highly complexed in flavors as it’s vanilla based but goes deeper behind that. Really worth the try.

Google
Great culinary experience in such a cozy restaurant! Food is great, everything you choose is a good option, so I’d suggest taking half portions in order to try more dishes. Then, the staff who is also very friendly and attentive, so that’s a big plus. Will go again for sure!

Google
Outstanding service and matching price. Good to order half size dishes! I like the infusion style food but I would expect the taste even better, but it is the atmosphere we enjoy right?

The waiters are helpful and friendly. The ambience is good and comfortable. The food, unfortunately, is below my expectations. Over-seasoning. The coffee has lots of room of enhancements.

Undoubtedly, Lakasa is a must-go place in Madrid. We ordered different dishes and they were all yummy and extremely well-cooked. The buñuelos is one of the best choices, but you must not forget that every dish in the menu has been cooked with extreme attention to detail. The staff is very kind and they usually recommend the best option depending on your own taste. The level of noise keeps very low due to really good decoration and its own ambiance which remains calm and quiet all the time.

Google
Really interesting, delicious and high quality food! Each dish was a surprise either in how it was put together, or the key ingredients. Between two, we ordered four half portion starters and two half portion mains, plus dessert and drinks for just under €100 and were very full. Service was great, super efficient and highly attentive. Definitely get dessert (the panna cotta is amazing!). Would recommend for a bit of a treat and something different. Great that they do half portions so you can try more dishes.

Yelp
Lakasa is completely deserving of all the rave reviews it has received! The chef is simply amazing. The wild mushroom appetizer is like nothing we have ever had before. It is indescribably delicious. We had the duck over red cabbage, and the Iberian pork chop. Both were expertly prepared and rich in flavor. Staff was outstanding. We sat in the bar area and could watch a video of how each of the dishes are prepared...so interesting and Really enhanced our dining experience. Lakasa is a must when in Madrid!

Yelp
Yes, it is that good. Yes, you should definitely make reservations. Yes, you should get the mussels. Yes, please save room for desserts. Cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
Traveling in Madrid alone, I wanted to treat myself to a good authentic Spanish meal and this place seemed to fit the bill. After doing some research, I found this place offered traditional Spanish tapas with a modern flair. I stopped in late, around 11pm but the place was lively. I loved the modern decor and would recommend this spot to tourists and locals alike! For dinner, I started with the "Alubia negra de Gernika con chorizo y piparras" which was a red soup with black beans and sausage. It was very tasty with the bread that was served warm with my meal. Afterwards, I got the "Albóndigas de Buy Carbonara con Guanciale, pecorino rallado y yema de huevo" - which were some of the best Albondigas I have ever tasted. Seriously GET THEM, even if it is just to share. They were so good I wanted to go back the next night and get them again. This would be a great date night spot or place to celebrate a birthday. The staff was extremely professional and help (they suggested I order a 1/4 portion of the soup because of the size, which was very helpful). LaKsa was pricey but I think the cost matched the experience. If I have the chance, I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Lakasa has been my favorite spot in Madrid. The wild mushroom app started off strong. It was perfect with a smooth white wine. The grouper was buttery and perfectly cooked, the venison destroyed my senses after I paired it with a cherry sherry and dark red. Staff was incredible, ambiance was outstanding. Tremendous night.

Yelp
Ok. This was an unassuming place but got good local referral so we tried it. Each course was very memorable. Highly recommend. It was reasonable prices for Madrid and wine good value. They let us split up the Many of the courses and allows us to enjoy them smaller portion for many people it was excellent

Yelp
It is my fifth time to be here. It is hard to believe I live on the other side of the world! This is definitely the restaurant you never want to miss! The chef cares about his customers than Michelin star, he spent so much love on foods and always makes you find some new understanding of food! Strongly recommend, definitely will come back again and again and again!

Yelp

Yelp
I like traveling but Spain is the first. I informed the limit amount and ordered food. We ate cheaply dishes that we can not taste anywhere in Spain. 62Euro / 4 beers / 5 dishs meal

Yelp
Our last meal in Madrid. A little out of the way but pretty easy to get to from our Airbnb in another neighborhood by Metro (I am so jealous of Spains metros!). Service was super attentive and the menu was really inviting. We ordered a whole bunch of dishes (all to share!) in addition to several rounds of drinks to wash it all down + Buñuelitos de Idiazabal (1/2 racione) // Cheese Fritters - Definitely get these. Super simple, flavorful, crowd pleaser! + Verduras de verano salteadas // "Sauteed Summer Vegetables" - After 9 days in Spain with few vegetable dishes we saw this and decided to go for it... you know...for health... They were crispy blistered vegetables with a little sauce at the bottom. I'd probably skip this in lieu of a salad in the future. + Lomo de bonito del norte marinado // Marinated Bonito with confit of cherry tomatoes - This was really delicious-- a little fishy (which if you know bonito that is to be expected) but the tomato confit seemed to really help round out the flavors. + Secreto de ibérico puro semi asado // Seared Rare Iberian Pork Tartare w/ herbed aioli - This might have been the highlight-- Spaniards ain't afraid to serve their aged pork rare AF and it was a delightful treat to have this way. Don't skip this! + Dry Rice w/ Rare Squab (unsure of the name it looks like it is no longer on the menu) - I loved this! It was sort of reminiscent of paella-- but NOT paella- the squab was delicious and flavorful. I'm not 100% sure but the rice seemed a touch undercooked but it's possible it was meant to be that way. + Flan con leche de oveja y huevos de corral // Sheeps Milk Flan - Simple but made so well. I've had some really bad flan in the states (usually made with gelatin, or the custard is broken) but this was my ideal flan. Worth getting if you're into flan like us!

Yelp
Outstanding food and experience. The restaurant is tucked away a bit, has a great modern decor, lively yet relatively quiet ambiance - really, really enjoyable.... The food though is where it really hits it out of the park. The highlights: Cheese fritters - WOW. If you like cheese at all, you must get these little guys. Airy, fluffy, just the right consistency and oohhh perfect gooeyness... We got a half portion and then got another half portion at the end of dinner. Veal Sweetbreads - great dish. The sauce and the potato dish are a great accompaniment to what are perfectly prepared sweetbreads and mushrooms... Must try. Tuna - love the simple preparation with just great salt and perfect pieces of tuna... Excellent dish. Octopus - very, very good... Very well prepared, great flavor and love the tomato coulis on the side... Great dish. Cream caramel millefeuille - incredible dessert... chefs at the finest french restaurants would've been proud of this and you will fall in love as well if you order it. A great experience, awesome food, great service (really really great service)... Makes this place a can't miss when in Madrid

Yelp
The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent! Our server asked if we were celebrating something special, and after we told her it was our 16th wedding anniversary, they surprised us with dessert and champagne! Seemed like we were the only Americans in this restaurant, more of a local place and off the beaten tourist path, so you know it's good. Liked that you could choose half portions for most of the menu items!

Yelp
The pork trotters with oxtail stew are wonderful and very tasty, also the creamy rice The waiter is very friendly, he always smile and willing to recommend us a menu. The price, when comparing with the food quality, it is reasonable or a bit cheap for this great cuisine I could say. The atmosphere is nice with an appropriately dim light just to see each other face. A great foods of restaurant is cooked by a great chef.

Yelp
I saw perfect Yelp rating and 46 reviewers. I assumed that it must be beyond-words exciting. My experience was very good, four stars, but nothing memorable, especially compared to some of the other places that I've been to on this trip.

Yelp
Perfection on every level. We reserved weeks in advance and were welcomed and escorted by the chef, to a lovely window side table. Observing the setting, the soft reggae playing suited the chic and trendy room. It was uncluttered with well spaced tables. We were the only foreigners. Locals were enjoying a post Xmas meal. Service was flawless. Food flowed and quite honestly, revealed perfection with each course. Flavors and plating was spot on. Our server chose an excellent bottle of wine to pair with our meal. One of the top 20 meals of 2018.

Yelp
Enjoy the food, service and atmosphere here at Lakasa after a long day. Had Traditional Spanish dishes (offer half size order so I can taste several dishes) and beer at bar by myself until midnight. Grilled Squid, cured beef and baked rice were full of flavor. I just want to keep eating. Top that was the service. They pay attention but were never rush or push. Everyone had smile on the face although it was quite busy and late night...

Yelp
Dining at Lakasa was a phenomenal experience. The restaurant has the option to serve most of its dishes as half portions to have a more tapas like experience. This is what my wife and I elected to do. We started with the Idiazabal Cheese Fritters. These soft gooey balls exploded with warm cheesy goodness and were insanely addictive. Next we had the Deep Fried Shrimps with Lime Mayonese. These shrimps were lightly crisp and airy and paired nicely with the creamy lime mayonese. Next up was the Cured Cow Meat from Astorga with a Touch of Pepper. This rich and flavorful cured meat had a pleasant salty and smokiness. Next we had the Grilled Duck Foie with Sweet Truffle. The Foie was creamy and lightly toasted and topped with savory mushroom shavings. The Marinated Loin of Bonito with Tomato Sauce & Cherry Tomato was also amazing. The melt in your mouth fish was paired nicely with juicy tomatoes. The Roast Pork with Homemade Mole Sauce was next. The tender pork had a nicely crisp outside and topped with a flavorful and spicy mole sauce and crisp tortilla chips. Next we had a cheese selection featuring four cheeses and jams from different areas of Europe. The cheeses had a variety of enjoyable flavors and textures. Finally, we couldn't decide what to order for dessert, so we ordered three. The first dessert was the Lemon Pie with Meringue & Crumble which was lemony tart, creamy and filled with crunchy graham pieces. The second was the Crème Caramel made with Sheep's Milk, which was a creamy sweet flan. Finally we had the Double Choco (Black & White). This dessert was chocolate bliss: creamy and rich with a nice sweetness and bitterness. Every dish we had was perfect! Overall, the food was exceptional and flavorful and Lakasa is a must visit when in Madrid.

Yelp
Amazing food ...all fresh and super tasty ! Def recommended if you are in the area! Lamb chops to die for , good Chardonnay and excellent service!! Totally worth the 5 star rating !!

Yelp
I am writing this about 5 months after the fact, so it is short on info, but I felt it was worth rating because it was really darn great. We don't eat this kind of high-end food very often, so it was great being able to get what would have been a $200 meal in San Francisco, for about 60 bucks in Madrid. Super great..

Yelp
Delicious food! We took advantage of the half portions to try lots of the dishes: pate, mushroom carpaccio, tartar of sea bass, tartare of deer, monkfish, & roasted vegetables. YUM! The only thing that wasn't wonderful was the pate which was way too salty. And this from someone who heavily salts her food. Agree with those who recommended a reservation. We didn't, but were able to sit at the bar. The bartender was working solo to support the whole restaurant and the bar so the service was understandably suboptimal. However when you sit at the bar you get to watch the staff preparing the food - they have a camera set up in the kitchen that projects on a flat screen TV behind the bar. The music is also very good. Highly recommend making the trip from the center to eat at this gem.

Mike S.

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended, and did not disappoint. We arrived at 8pm and were the first to arrive. You can order off of the main menu at 8:30 or a limited bar menu before 8:30. I recommend waiting until 8:30 to order off the main menu.

Gloria B.

Yelp
Good food. Service is not as good when it's busy, around 10pm. But other times when I went around 6pm, they're more attentive. Highly recommend cheesecake, steak and sautéed vegetables. Their bread is amazing - sourdough bread

Jorge G.

Yelp
Great food. Service was attentive and fun to talk to. i like they can serve half rations, i was able to eat an appetizer, 2 main dishes and dessert without feeling too full. Atun rojo a la blood mary was my favorite. I'm definitely coming tomorrow to try more dishes.

T Z.

Yelp
Booked this place several days in advance based on yelp reviews and definitely glad we did. It was a ways away from the more touristy area- almost too far too walk from the Prado area. The raw sea bream, roasted veggies, baked pork and grilled steak were incredibly yummy. Best thing about this place is you can get half orders of most things so you can try a bunch. Personally I would skip the chocolate dumplings as they were disappointing but the profiteroles on the next table looked delicious

Joey B.

Yelp
Mind blowing restaurant ! The place to check out when you come to Madrid and and and the owner speak FRENCH !!!! Super nice lady and will recommend only the best

Ming C.

Yelp
Five solid stars - MAKE RESERVATIONS or else it'll be near impossible to get a table, especially on a weekend! Food was phenomenal - we had 7 dishes and not one of them disappointed. Small menu, but can't go wrong with anything on there. We found everything to be very reasonably priced for the quality served. Service was extremely attentive and efficient. Highly recommended! (Also, best fried cheese I've ever had in my life. I didn't even know fried cheese could taste that good.)

Amit S.

Yelp
The food here was amazing! The chef came out halfway through our meal to make sure everything we had was as delicious as we wanted. The service here was great as well.
