Uruguay's Punta del Este Has Quietly Become South America's Most Exciting Wine Destination

"Las Espinas, opened by Bodega Bouza, offers views of the ocean and woodlands, relaxing afternoons sipping Cocó, and dining on pasture-raised short ribs. A new winery building with a copper ceiling will be unveiled later this year."

Lovely and scenic for a sunset drink. However, dinner service was slow and food was average at best. The main dish of meat was of poor quality so overall wouldn't recommend for dinner.

One of the best restaurants in the country - period. It has everything, amazing food of the highest quality, and incredible wines of one of the best wineries in the world. The place is extraordinary. It is quite cozy, but what's outstanding is the panoramic views it has. I'd definitely recommend coming here, enjoying good food and wines, and spending some time after eating just to enjoy the vibes. When it comes to the service, it was top notch. The waiters and chefs were super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

The place is at the top of a hill with fantastic views. Unfortunately the deck is a bit small so unless you have the one prime table in a corner you won’t have a great view of the sunset (we had to get off the deck and onto the bushes on the side for the attached photo). Wine was good, food was average and not worth the price. We had a steak and it was low quality which was shocking. Staff was really nice however service was slow.

Fantastic wine, food, service, and views. All in all a great experience. Recommendation: Call ahead for reservations and specify whether you’d prefer outdoor or indoor seating. The deck offers the best views but it can get warm if it’s a hot day. Inside you get AC.

The site and the food combined with Bouza’s wines is a MUST for any visitor to the East part of Uruguay. Shocking view, charming decoration, awesome food. Strongly recommended. A place to indulge yourself at least once

We are lucky enough to have eaten in amazing restaurants all over the world. This at least matches them. We had lamb, which was sublime with mashed potatoes and a salad followed by the plums in a Tannat sauce with ice cream. Run there don’t walk ! The service was perfect and the 360 degree views are mind blowing, heading back in 10 days time.

One of the most expensive restaurants in Uruguay. Food is good though does not reflect the high price where I would expect gourmet quality. Location is excellent and impressive. Service could be better. As the restaurant is operated by a winery the wine selection though good is limited to the winery.

Beautiful location at the top of a hill overlooking Punta del Este and the surrounding countryside. Immaculate food, top level wine and excellent service. It made us very happy...
