The 15 Best Mexican Restaurants in Houston

"We appreciate that you can satiate just about any desire at La Llardas, the casual Mexican spot in Spring Branch that’s open from 8am to 10pm, and midnight on the weekends. Want to just get some desserts or agua fresca to go? You can do that. Interested in regaling your friends with karaoke over giant tortas and massive goblets of tepache? That is also an option. Or start your day with chilaquiles smothered in spicy green salsa and end it with cheesy quecas, rib steak huaraches, and a whole-fried tilapia. Become ungovernable." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Las Llardas Review - Spring Branch - Houston - The Infatuation

"Become ungovernable at Las Llardas. The casual Mexican spot in Spring Branch is open from 8am to 10pm, or midnight on the weekends, and serves a metric truckload of food. At Las Llardas, you can start your day with chilaquiles smothered in spicy green salsa, milanesa, and a fried egg, and end the evening with cheesy quecas, rib steak huaraches, and a whole-fried tilapia. Or maybe you just want to stuff yourself silly with giant tortas and goblets of tepache, or order an entire flight of desserts and agua frescas to-go. Whatever you desire can be at Las Llardas—the sky’s the limit." - Chelsea Thomas

I'm actually surprised by this place. This is the first time I can say "it tastes like home". This is real "chilanga" food. I cannot recommend more the fried quesadillas. The dough is everything. No american bullshit taste, it tastes like mexican dough. Salsas are great, not your typical green and red boring sauces you can find anywhere, these actually taste like something. Tortas, great! It remind me of my days back in school. Finally, mole... it was great. I like it a bit more sweet, but thats a matter of taste and you can easily solve it by adding sugar. It was full of flavor. This place should be ranking higher.

Food is good. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years but we will no longer go. It’s way too expensive now. I understand that it’s a tough time in the country but the prices are not even reasonable and food is not worth that price. Place is also so loud. They now play loud English music and it’s very obvious their new desired clientele are white people. Sad I will no longer eat here but there are other places that are better and for less.

Came here for the first time in a looooooong time and they really have stepped up their game!!!! The completely changed the inside and the menu. I had a gordita which was DELICIOUS and crunchy. My daughter didn't like the chicken but she's picky. The service was excellent our waitress was super sweet and nice.

Very overpriced. 6.50 for a gordita and 3.99 if you want and any meat . 9.50 for a torta and 3.99 if you want meat . To my understanding these items are suppose already include your choice of meat .

When I walked in here. I loved the jams they were playing. They had it down the entire time I was there. The menu was large and different. I order the Chile rellenos and they were delicious. Tasted just like home. I would recommend it here if your looking for a spot to eat. They also had different flavor aguas for all your needs. Come by and enjoy!

they need to upgrade their menu, i went for the pollo con rajas and they don’t have it anymore. they said is a new menu but i don’t think is new after 4 months. i ask for something else that i see on their menu online and they don’t have that either.

This is a great place for more authentic Mexican food. This is NOT TEXMEX. It's affordable and service is always great. I love eating breakfast here. They have special menus for weekends that include menudo and lamb flautas. They put cinnamon in their coffee too.
