"Having travelled through the arid landscapes of the Mogán valley, this elegant and exotic restaurant will provide welcome relief as well as a magical dining experience. In this setting in the Cordial Mogán Playa hotel, your path will cross with Alexis Álvarez, a chef trained in some of the country’s best restaurants. Here, this native of Gran Canaria reaffirms his culinary style through a fusion of traditional Canary Island cuisine and more contemporary influences. The focus of his interesting menus teeming with innovative detail is on international dishes and ingredients from the islands (gofio, goat etc) and the abundant waters of the Atlantic (grouper, red tuna, sea bream etc). We strongly recommend booking a table on the terrace – a typical Canary Island-style balcony overlooking the hotel gardens." - Michelin Inspector

We chose this restaurant for an evening dedicated to their classic degustation menu, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. From the moment we arrived, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff set the tone for a memorable experience. The amuse-bouche selection started the menu on a high note, with the standout dishes being the Tartar and the fish—both beautifully executed and full of flavor. The appetizers showcased finesse and attention to detail, though I have a small critique for the red prawn. While beautifully presented, it lacked a certain element—perhaps a touch of charred flavor or a pinch more salt—to elevate it to perfection. However, the red tuna with tomato was exceptional, as was the foie gras, which was simply outstanding. One of the night’s undeniable highlights was the Cherne (wreckfish), prepared to absolute perfection. Perfectly cooked and expertly seasoned, it was one of the finest fish dishes I’ve ever tasted. Competing closely for the top spot was the goat meat, which redefined my expectations of this protein. Tender, flavorful, and expertly balanced, it was nothing short of spectacular. The suckling pig, while excellent, was overshadowed by the brilliance of the goat dish. As the meal concluded, I was left slightly wanting in the dessert department. While the combination of berries and basil ice cream was delightful, the finale lacked the grandeur I had hoped for—a touch more creativity or wow-factor could have made it truly memorable. The wine pairings, however, were impeccable. The Barrique-aged Chardonnay complemented the fish dishes beautifully, and the sweet wine and sparkling wine bookended the experience perfectly. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with an attractively designed interior that added to the overall charm of the evening. A special mention goes to Sommelier Melanie, whose passion and expertise elevated our experience even further. Her attention to detail and authentic enthusiasm made the evening all the more enjoyable. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience, with only minor adjustments needed—specifically for the red prawn and the dessert—to reach the pinnacle of culinary perfection. I’ll undoubtedly return and look forward to seeing how this exceptional restaurant continues to refine its craft.

A very good restaurant where all the dishes were delicious both in taste and appearance. Several of the dishes had some taste experiences that really impressed me, the service was very good, and the atmosphere very pleasant. In addition, it is amazing that a restaurant in such a small place as Puerto de Mogán has managed to get a Michelin star. But still – well deserved.

Very nice surroundings and great atmosphere! The food was delicious but that is to be expected on a Michelin restaurant 😉 The pricing is absolutely in the low end and a nice surprise that they offered Non alcoholic wine. I can absolutely recommend this Restaurant 🙏

Excellent experience for our first visit to a Michelin restaurant, can not put a finger on anything. We had the full menu with wine and everything was superior in taste and service. We would love to come back 🙂

Beautiful meal in beautiful surroundings. Bit of a foodie, and couldn't find a fault. Canapes were especially extraordinary. Staff were professional and non intrusive. Every plate had a bit magic. Would revisit. If I had one criticism it would have been nice to get something a little extra as it was a special birthday. Also would be nice to get a taster menu card as a memento, with a list of the wines we had to match. And maybe meet the head chef? Have had this at other Michelin star restaurants.

Los Guayres is a lovely restaurant that served a very focussed menu with puristic tendencies that took a bit to get accustomed to. Personally I prefer bold flavours and creative new combinations so my first impression was a bit muted. Chef Álvarez started us off with a magnificent shrimp, maybe the best I ever ate in terms of pure product quality. But the corn-creme was just that. The baby-leek the same. Just the pure flavour, nothing added, no flair, nothing fancy. As the menu progresed, more and more spices and more intense flavours were added though. And as I adjusted to the idea behind the menu I have to admit I got to respect the thought that went into the composition of the menu as a whole. Where many other menus are just single, self-contained dishes this was a thought-through sequence with each menu building on each other. Even the flavours in the amuse bouche made sense in retrospect, foreshadowing flavours and ideas of the later menu. I think I have rarely experienced an entire evening of dishes that were so well composed. One lowpoint has to be noted: the marinated tuna Was overpowered by the added flavour that tasted too much like a herb mix from the average kitchen. Here I wished for a puristic handling of the beautiful fish. However the local cherne (another fish) was impecable and the accompanying beetroot reduction was marvelous. The goat was a triumph of full bodied flavours and the suckling pig with pineapple a succulent marvel. An elegant and wonderfully simple desert of orange and vanilla closed off the menu beautifully. Or would have because there was another, quite heavy composition of basil icecream and cactus-fig-mousse after that that was simply a bit much this far down the road. Overall a very intellectual menu with some great choices although not right down my alley. Big respect. I must also commend the attentive, well schooled and just friendly staff and the beautiful balcony we were seated on, overlooking an artificial little pond and garden of the hotel. It's very nice to enjoy a meal like this outside at sunset. Two notes: We don't drink alcohol and the restaurant was not equipped to offer much in terms of drinks where many others have complete alternative pairings ready to go. The restaurant does not allow to add a tip to the check paid by card. So unless you have cash on hand the staff may go unrewarded. Not a timely policy.
