Restaurante Madruelo

Wonderful and cozy restaurant. The food was absolutely stunning, and the chef himself came to our table to explain the dishes and provide additional context.. really wonderful experience!

We were driving from Lisbon to Madrid and happened upon this place- it was SPECTACULAR!! They went out of their way to accommodate us, I am a pescatarian and the other 3 people were meat eaters. Wow! Totally blew our socks off delicious! He made sauces that exploded with flavor on fresh meats and fish and then he put together the very best vegetarian zucchini, tomato, paprika, cheese heavenly thing- I can’t express how great it was!! The meat eaters were equally happy!! And yes the wine and dessert were also enjoyed! Then we also tried a local liquor that was new to us called bellota (acorn) - so delicious, nothing like we had ever tried. We really enjoyed how friendly the chef and waitress were with us. We don’t speak Spanish well but she helped us try and we shared many laughs! It was a complete joy to eat here. I know it’ll be our best meal of our 2 week trip!! - thanks! I hope we’ll be back!

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Spain, and that’s a high compliment. We had the tasting menu, only €33 each. Five courses and all delicious. Locally sourced. Everything was from Extremadura. Special mention of the pork with three different mustards, and the foie and beef carpaccio. Also, the owners Francisco and Ana are lovely people and serve you themselves and happily describe what you’re eating. One of our very best eating experiences ever in Spain.

Our 4th time for lunch in this small family run restaurant over the past 2 years. And every visit is an intense pleasure. Both Ana and Francisco, the chef, do everything to make the experience most enjoyable. The starters and main courses , the tasty amuse-bouches, and the deserts are always excellent, imaginative and beautifully presented. The 2 of them obviously prepare and serve the food, and talk to guests, as more of a ‘calling’ than purely as a business.

We drive 300km from Madrid to Caceres for Madruelo, it worths every effort to dine here! Superb experience for fine Spanish cuisine - Chef Fran Dominguez, a Michelin rated chef, is so humble and friendly, he introduces his ingredients and ways of cooking to us one by one and with great patience and passion. There isn't any shortcomings to be frank, we will come back for sure!

Young wouldn’t tell from the outside but the restaurant is a gem dishing out fabulous food at a very reasonable prices. Must visit

Small restaurant with few tables. Very nice service, good value for money. We took the menu for 35€ this was more than enough. I recommend !

This place was perfect. Great atmosphere and friendly, helpful service. The highlight though was extraordinary food. We had the traditional house menu and each fish was out of this world. The first, a fois gras/carpaccio starter was one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten in my life: balanced, flavorful and with an outstanding texture. The others were almost as good. What a bargain for food this great.
