The 24 Best Restaurants in Salvador, Brazil | Eater

"Eating at Manga feels like dining at a friend’s house — a cozy three-floor townhouse, in this case. Owners Dante and Kafe Bassi set up shop in Rio Vermelho in 2020 among a new crop of restaurants in Salvador. The tasting menu, the best way to get to know the couple’s cuisine, includes sophisticated dishes in 10 courses, such as the Oreo (a take on the popular cookie sandwich that uses a crispy caramelized onion stuffed with smoked redfish, creme fraiche, dill, and raw onion) and a dry-aged beef tongue served with okra, rice, unagi, and local seaweed. To pair, there are refreshing and inventive cocktails, such as the Eugenia, with gin, Brazilian cherry leaves, cucumber, and tonic." - Rafael Tonon

In Salvador, Brazil, Afro Brazilian Religion Shapes Street Food and Fine Dining - Eater

"Dante Bassi, who, with wife Katrin, opened the buzzy Manga in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood in 2018. In a recent tasting menu, the chef presented a three-part duck dish that evoked the trappings of a sacrificial Candomblé ritual: Along with a lacquered duck breast and local produce like toasted palm hearts and ora-pro-nóbis, two faux duck heads (fashioned from crispy duck skin, cajarana fruit, and duck tartare) arrived at tables on a bed of feathers and lavender." - Rafael Tonon

Very good food experience! Flavors and combinations are amazing, with the highlight for the beautifully surprising and also delicious “pinha” as a desert. Service although very well trained staff, made it feel a bit like comercial.

Food was so balanced and amazing beyond expectations - the tasting menu was phenomenal with the flavors and presentation. Not to mention the price is way lower than its value!

One of the best experiences we've ever had in the last few years! I've been in some of the best restaurants in the world and lots of Michelin starred and Manga is not far from most of them. The menu is extremely well prepared and presented, but with a special taste and "touch" of Brazilian elements that makes the taste even more peculiar and special. We got a tasty menu and it was a surprise after others, better and better! It's an experience that everyone should have! Last but not least, the service is impeccable.

Excellent tasting menu with great service. Must be one of the best in Salvador. Great wine pairing, although we were a little disappointed that not all wines were local (may be the tourist in us wanting to soak in everything possible from Brazil while we are here). Service was very good and every dish well was explained. Lonely evening and highly recommend.

This restaurant is a high end restaurant. From the presentation to the flavor are all full of the creation. They used very normal materials created unique flavor that I never had before. They put different components together to make harmonious flavors and displays. And the seasonings are very variety, from Asia to Africa ,all of the popular stuff. I ordered the testing Manu which is 11 dishes and 7 different kind of wine. For the wine, my personal habit, I prefer have some sweet liquor such as ice wine or port go with the last two dishes. Because the last two dishes were kind of dessert. Any way, the chef couples are real artists. Good job.

We had an amazing time at the Manga, the food is delicious, the menu is creative and the staff is very kind and welcoming. They’re all doing their job with so much passion, especially the two chefs Dante and Kafe, it’s very inspiring! If you’re visiting Salvador, this restaurant is a must-do on your trip ! I can’t wait to go back !

Had the 7 course. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I've had. Could easily be a Michelin star here in the future.
