Manioca

"It’s spacious, bright and eclectic, yet despite its size, Manioca is somewhat hidden, as its sits inside a huge shopping centre behind the modern Livraria Cultura bookshop and customers to have walk between the bookshelves to reach it. Top-quality products, reasonable prices and a high level of technical skill are the hallmarks of this restaurant, which serves modern cuisine with Brazilian and international influences. Allow plenty of time as it gets very busy." - Michelin Inspector

Google
Great little restaurant with delicious and creative Brazilian dishes. I had the fish wrapped in banana leaves (see pic). The pastelzinho with shrimp was also amazing. Great service as well. I will return someday.

Google
Pricy but totally worth it. Manioca is one of the restaurants of acclaimed Brazilian Chef Helena Rizzo. Boasting a varied menu using local ingredients, Manioca offers a grrat taste of Brazilian cuisine rarely found anywhere else. The environment is nice and servers are very helpful and attentive. We had the mushroom capellini, the lamb kafka, and the prejereba (white fish) cooked inside a banana leaf. Everything tasted good but I have to give a special shoutout to the fish - it was juicy and soft, probably one of the best I've ever had. The sides were also very Brazilian-esque and tasted great. Dessert is creative and tasty too.

Wow what an experience the food was simply amazing, everything about this restaurant was excellent. Definitely when I come back to Sao paulo I'll be seeing them again!

Google
Amazing food, everything we tried were cooked to perfection and had an amazing taste - from the couvert (lascas de polvilho), to main dish (matambre de porco), and dessert (panacotta and o "ovo"). You MUST try the "egg" (or "ovo" in portuguese) for dessert, I never had something like that before, it's delicious! Oh and the caipirinha was also great!

Google
A very good place if you are looking for modern Brazilian cuisine. We went there for lunch, I've ordered the polvilho as entrees, this is a must try if you go there. It is warm, crunchy, and delicious. We also had the tuna tartar mayo, which was ok. Nothing special. For mains, we had the steak with Serrano ham sauce and manioc. The beef was perfect. Be aware that the medium rare in Brazil is considered rare in some countries. My wife had the pork with pamonha and fennel salad. The pamonha, I'm not kidding, was one of the best I had in my life. Pamonha is a very traditional brazilian dish from the central region. We had espresso to finish, the coffee was very well executed with a partnership of a coffee shop inside the shopping. They have decent wine list.

Everything was good and tasty, but we expected more. The portion was okay, but the food was nothing special. Considering it’s a famous restaurant, we thought it would be more impressive. In the end, it just felt like a nicely cooked meal—not bad, but not memorable either.

Food was fantastic. We went for lunch on a Thursday and it was packed. Service was ok - everyone super friendly, but everything took a long time. I’d go again, probably for dinner.

Google
They were out of many items on the menu. Our server seemed distracted. Had been there before and last time it was better in all senses. Seems they have gotten too popular and compromised on quality. Expensive for what it is.

Yelp
Visited with a large group for dinner. We had optimal seating and the servers were friendly. We had a pre-set menu with 1-2 options and I think that helped with getting our food out quickly. The food was delicious. It was great to get more local flavors and traditional food. Highly recommend it for visitors.

Yelp
Considered the casual cousin of Helena Rizzo's Mani, Manioca occupies the back of a bookstore inside Iguatemi Shopping with some of the Chef's classic plates plus Salads, Sandwiches and Desserts executed by a team led by Bianca Monteiro. Popular since 2015, and recently eliminating a "no reservations" policy that had done little to diminish interest in a place often featuring long lines, it was only after asking an attendant in the multi-tiered mall that the Restaurant was discovered behind Livraria Cultura, its interior bright and spacious with plenty of organic flourishes. Open for Lunch and Dinner daily, a Sunday arrival at 12h00 soon finding every seat filled by a variety of ages, guests not fluent in Portuguese will be happy to know translated menus are offered though servers remain stiff, a situation no different from Rizzo's Michelin starred space but more out of place in such casual environs. A Bib Gourmand recipient in its own right, though prices aren't much different from Mani when compared dish for dish, it was opting to dine in three courses that a R$20 Couvert was accepted, the same Tapioca Chips previously experienced here just as good but with only two Cheeses as accoutrements. Deciding to order only classics in this setting, the dishes that established Rizzo's name faithfully reproduced inside a sizable kitchen, course one featured a 63 Egg amidst foam made from Olive Oil and Hearts of Palm, another bit of modernist cooking arriving subsequently as "Noodles" of Vegetables topped with Parmesan Sauce and Herbs. Passing over Burgers and grilled Meats in favor of Dessert, "The Egg" presumably created via ISI canister and only interesting for crunchy bits of Coconut hidden beneath a sea of Foam, it was finally "The Secret of the Cake" which warranted applause, layers of Sponge and Brigadeiro Frosting alternating with beautiful textures and richness finding its foil in lightly sweetened Ice Cream.

Yelp
We walked in without a reservation on a Monday at 8pm and staff managed to organize a table for us. Loved the food, with highlights being: - o ovo do Mani - o couvert - talharim de pupunha - dessert: "O Ovo" (sorvete de gemada, espuma de coco e coquinhos crocantes) I also went to Mani and felt the same food quality - definitely gave me a good reason to eat again at Mani next time I am in Sao Paulo !

Yelp
The fish with foam sauce tastes great! Although it would be even better if less salty. Lemongrass drink is refreshing, but I had better one with pineapple to reduce the sourness. Ovo is my favorite!

Yelp
Managed to have a meal at Manioca without waiting in line! Had to arrive at 7:15PM though, but it was worth it. Just a heads up, there are NO RESERVATIONS :(. The restaurant is hidden inside Livraria Cultura (awesooooomeeee) inside Iguatemi mall. I love the location because you can go have dinner and go straight to a movie. The place is really pretty and posh. We started with the Bolinho de Tapioca com Carne Seca (tapioca little cake with beef jerkey?) and it was deliciously good! Totally recommend it. I also had a caipirinha, forgot the name, but it had grape, lemon and pineapple, really refreshing! After we had a linguini with cheese sauce, don't know how to translate everything that came with it now, but the dish was great and presentation was beautiful. We also tried the lamb with couscous which was good, but not compared to everything else. The meat was pretty soft though. Totally recommend the place for a family dinner, date or friends' night.
