We visited the restaurant after seeing it recommended in the Michelin Guide for a gastronomic experience. The food was good, but the service left much to be desired. I agree with other reviews that mention this issue. Overall, I will rate the experience as disappointing as I visited based on the Michelin guide’s recommendation.
The restaurant is described as one of the better dining experiences in the Teruel area, but in my opinion, it falls short of the service and attention expected from a true fine dining experience.
From the beginning, it was unclear who was in charge of the front of house. The chef personally introduced the concept and menu, but the explanation was delivered very quickly and felt overwhelming. At no point were we asked about allergies or dietary preferences. We were verbally encouraged to choose the €70 “truffle journey” menu, and I had to request a printed menu to properly understand the options.
When I asked about the €21 menu displayed outside, I was discouraged from ordering it, as it was described as an “executive menu” not aligned with the restaurant’s concept and quality. If that is the case, it is unclear why it is promoted in the restaurant window.
After taking our order, the chef disappeared. I would have appreciated more engagement, especially to better understand why the black truffle tasted different from what I expected. Overall, there was a lack of attention to the customer. My glass remained empty for some time without being refilled, no new bottle of water was even brought to the table, and no one asked whether we were enjoying the meal.
While there was clear care and creativity in the food, I was disappointed that my osso buco did not contain any bone or marrow, which is normally an essential part of the dish. My party was also missing the taste of truffle in their menu - an explanation from the chef would have been welcomed.
Overall, I found the experience disappointing and expensive compared to other fine dining restaurants I have visited.
