Restaurante Pica-Pau

We arrived at the restaurant half an hour earlier than our reservation, but the staff was super friendly and seated us after only about a ten-minute wait. Unfortunately, a few dishes were sold out that day, so we ordered cod and pork. Since my friend and I wanted to share two drinks, the server kindly gave us four straws. The cod was absolutely delicious! I especially loved the pickled vegetables and breadcrumbs that came with it. (I hardly ever eat fish, but I ended up eating a lot because it was that good.) The pork, however, was a bit dry, and the buttery mashed potatoes felt too greasy for my taste, so I only had a couple of bites. Overall, it’s a place I’d definitely visit again. The atmosphere was cozy, and I liked that you could see the kitchen in action. Everything made me feel really comfortable.

I visited this restaurant based on a friend’s recommendation, and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the unique dishes paired perfectly with the drinks. (I think a spicier sauce would have made it even better.) There was a small communication issue regarding the bread service, but the staff handled it kindly and resolved it well. I’d definitely come back again and would recommend this place to other friends as well. The lunch menu includes the dish of the day and dessert, along with water (or coffee). This was our first restaurant stop in Lisbon and were super impressed with the food. Everything was delicious! I recommend making a reservation since it can get really busy after 7-8pm.

Wonderful food that paired local dishes with international influence. The drink menu was also varied and delicious. Excellent service with a nice dose of humor. They do need to work on the a/c output and fans- everyone was a bit warm (not terrible, but it is a greenhouse effect in their patio). Overall a positive dining experience!

Very tasty & flavorful dishes in a cute atmosphere. Good price/quality/quantity for the 3 starters that we ordered and shared (were not super hungry): prawns, clams, and tuna. BE AWARE of the bread & butter that they offer in the beginning. On the menu it's mentioned 3.5 euros but apparently it's per person... Which is a scam for 1 piece of bread per person and some butter and meat sauce... Also make sure to check your bill as they charged us 5 coffees, not sure by accident or not... Location and interior are great. Friendly service as well. Wine was good (6.5 euros/glass for most). Everything was actually fine, but stay sharp!

Was our first meal here in Lisbon & it was such a good start to our trip. The garlic prawns are a must-have (slurped up all the sauce with the bread), and the octopus was sweet, tender and crispy. Service was also really excellent & we enjoyed our dinner loads :)

One of our best dinners in Lisbon. The fish was excellent along with the monk fish and shrimp rice. The steak was tender and paired nicely with the sauce. The couvert bread and olive with pica pau sauce was delicious. I’d recommend this restaurant. if you are a tourist and do not know what couvert is, it is the bread and olive dish that ask if you’d like when you get to the table. It is NOT free. We heard an upset American complain that they were charged for it.

Ingredients are fresh and well-seasoned. Staff are busy but friendly. Would recommend this place for both quick bite at the bar and dinner ( reservation needed )
