"For a meal in a traditional Portuguese restaurant with a sophisticated touch, the renowned Casa da Calçada group has opened this new project in the centre of Porto, where the culinary focus is on conventional Portuguese cooking with hints of modernity, to a stylish backdrop of warm and welcoming tones. On the menu you’ll find the traditional cod fritters, oxtail croquettes and the time-honoured “roupa velha”, albeit prepared with a refined and delicate touch, not forgetting the classic “bacalhau à brás” and the black pork cheeks with sweet potato and roasted chestnuts. Make sure you also show due deference to the superb selection of bottles on the wine list!" - Michelin Inspector

Tried a few appetizers and a couple of mains. The food is good but nothing that stands out. The fish with seaweed rice and the shredded cod fish were both cooked well but lacked flavour. The croquettes of fish were again nothing special. The ox tail meat croquettes were delicious. The cured ham was well cured ham. The service was attentive but not particularly warm or friendly. The ambience was beautiful with a central skylight filtering the evening light into the dining hall. Overall a decent option but not special.

The service was very attentive and the cuisine was delicious! I love duck and have had it many times at fine restaurants all over the world. Last night's duck dish, the special dish this month, was the best I've ever tasted. It was the perfect combination of flavors!

After not being able to get a table the first evening, we booked for the next night. It has to be said, the service varied. After being advised that two, in the party of four wanted soft drinks, the wine arrived for the others, and no order was taken for the drinks. We were then left for about 15 minutes before we were approached by serving staff again. Interestingly they hovered when the bill needed paying. The restaurant felt rather pretentious. Despite booking, we were sat at the chef's table, opposite the kitchen, away from the main quiet area of the restaurant. The food was good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. It was tasty, cooked beautifully and served well. Service could have been better, but food almost made up for it. Most.

The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly and attentive. My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary and the staff noticed the notes on the reservation and not only acknowledged it but gave us a lovely glass of wine to celebrate. The prawns were so delicious and the duck with rice was out of this world.

This was one of a handful of places recommended to us by our hotel’s concierge, and I’m glad we ended up here. For our trip it was definitely one of the more “fine dining” experiences but with decent portions steeped in culture. The staff was incredible, and made expert suggestions on both wine and food. The chef’s recommendation of the day was for grilled prawns, which were spectacular! We also tried the duck with a traditional rice and sausage base (bowl licking good) and a steak with a port wine sauce (also delicious though it was overcooked). The food was great so I’m overlooking that as the flavors and the staff made up for this. I would say, I think they should enforce a dress code, my wife and I chose to dress up a bit based on the pricing and styling of this establishment, only to find others in t-shirts or sweatshirts. I’d say 75% of people were dressed business casual but as the dining area is smaller and intimate, a stricter dress code would have added to the atmosphere.
