11 Essential Colombian Foods to Eat While in Colombia - AFAR

"At Ringlete in Cali, arroz atollado exemplifies Valle del Cauca cooking: pork ribs, chicken legs, and cocktail sausages are browned and then simmered with seasoned rice low and slow so the meats become incredibly tender and the rice soft and creamy; the result is a rich, comforting, meaty fried rice." - Cat Sposato

I can’t recommend this place enough. They remodeled, and it looks beautiful. Plus, if you want to try the best food from Cali, in my opinion, this is the place to go. The arroz atollado is a must, with the chicharrón to start but the entire menu is great, depending on your food preferences. We had the pandemonium cake for dessert and highly recommended as well.

This place was the best warm welcome to Cali, Colombia. I had one of the best lunchtime 😋. At first, nice people, smiling all the time. Service was great and food was so delicious. The entry and Chicharron was tasty and great. The atmosphere was 👌 perfect. It could be pricey but worth it. Strongly recommend 👌 it.

The food is amazing. The best I've had until now in Cali. We had for desert a combination of maracuyá mousse and tomato mousse combined with a cookie like bottom and small pieces of chicharrón, strange, good and really good combination. I had Rabo Encendido, one of the best I've tasted so far. Highly recommend for the food. The service was ok, a bit pushy to get the order, after they point it was ok. The only bad thing is that there is no Air conditioning, just fans all over the place, after some time seated you acclimatize but is not the same.

Amazing food. Fair price. Friendly staff. Parking at front of the restaurant. The rice had burnt pieces called pegao. Awesome 👌

Excellent food, impeccable service, great atmosphere. Hands down the best restaurant I’ve tried in Cali if not in Colombia. I ordered the ox tail and it was tender, juicy, perfectly cooked in a slightly spicy sauce. My partner ordered the shrimp and fish soup and he loved it. The dessert we got was cheese with berries (grosellas) - also delicious. The servers are very attentive. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place.

Great experience here at Ringlete. We ordered the Tamarillada & Champus to drink, both very refreshing. Had the Chicharrón Ringlete as an appetizer, tasty. We ate the Chuleta Cerdo and Lomo Enamorado for our main courses, both very delicious! Also had two authentic Colombian coffees to finish off our meal. Restaurant is clean, presentable, great atmosphere. Food is delicious, service is quick, staff is kind. We noticed that all of the staff help each other either each other’s tables and everyone is so kind. Special thanks to our server Fernando & Marta for their kindness. Highly recommend stopping by Ringlete for a lovely meal. They do accept credit card and cash here as forms of payment.

My wife and I arrived a little before noon and were able to obtain a table for 5, so my wife’s mother (MIL), sister (SIL) and sister’s husband (BIL) could join us a little later. While waiting my wife and I enjoyed Tostados plus Hogao and Empanadas typical of the Cauca valley. The Tostados and the Empanadas were all delicious, hot from the oven and very tasty. I sipped on a glass of the house white wine while we savored the appetizers. The restaurant filled quickly and was close to full when the others arrived and helped finish the appetizers. Our group has a range of dietary preferences, and we ordered accordingly. I ordered the Chuleta Cerdo, with rice and potatoes, my wife the Arroz Atollado, accompanied by Platano chips and avocado, MIL ordered Cazuela de Frijoles, with rice, tostados and avocado, BIL is a pescatarian and so he ordered the Pescado Maria Elsa with Platano chips and rice and SIL is a vegetarian, so she ordered the Cazuela de Frijoles Vegetariana with salad and rice. Our enjoyment of the main course was very variable. SIL was very happy with her Vegetarian beans, BIL enjoyed his fish and MIL her beans and rice. Unfortunately, my wife’s Arroz Atollado did not live up to her expectations, mainly because it was not very hot. But she did like the rice that came with BILs meal. Finally, the Cerdo in my Chuleta was so thin it was impossible to taste between the breadcrumbs, and the fried potatoes served with it were cold and hard. Service was attentive when we first arrived, but as the restaurant filled up it became rather spotty. The restaurant tables were rather close to each other, at least in the part of the restaurant we were seated, so the surrounding noise was quite loud making it difficult to hold a conversation at normal voice levels. Definitely a mixed bag, perhaps my wife and I were just unlucky that our food was prepared before the others at our table and so came out cold. So, we are going to visit the restaurant one more time to get a second impression.

What an amazing place. I can start from our entrance, marranitas, aborrajado and bofe. They were just delicious. In our table we pick different main dishes, rabo encendido, chuleta caleña and sancocho de gallina highly recommended. The atmosphere and attention was great, it’s a MUST place to come and taste the great food in Cali, Colombia.
