We went here twice during our stay in Oaxaca, and I definitely will say it's a good place to try! The first time one of our friends did get a severe allergic reaction to the food because the staff forgot it was in there... but it's okay she survived! So if you do have an allergic reaction I guess you have to be really insistent in double-double checking it's not in there. Otherwise, the service is super sweet and accommodating. I asked for a cup of hot water once and they were really sweet about it and patient with my tired Spanish. The decorations and atmosphere are really cool--I like the jaguar head in the side room. I ordered the Quesadilla Lacandona (con tortilla de plátano) rellenas de champiñones con epazote the first time, I wasn't a big fan but I know others liked it. I think I got tacos the second time, and they were a little better. Real cool place to check out!

Beautiful location, great service and great food. We had tacos (potato, chicken, bean and pork - 1 each) under romaine lettuce with and amazing Verde sauce. It was perfectly tangy. We also had chicken mole. It was heavier in cocoa than we are used to but delicious! Definitely recommend!!

Super friendly spot, especially for the solo traveler where you are not rushed to leave, the staff truly creates the lovely atmosphere here, they explain patiently each meal and ingredients and although my Spanish is poorly we managed all thanks to their willingness and effort. Not to forget the traditional Oaxacan food and their mezcal cocktails are delicious. I tried breakfast, lunch and dinner 3 out of 5 days in Oaxaca and would come back again! Recommend this place warmly.

Very inviting and open place. Even though my Spanish is close to non existent we managed to communicate well. Main thing to highlight: the coffee (Americano) is the best one I ever had. Strong recommendation. Prices are slightly higher but quality seems very high as well. Plus service is great

Food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the Mole Taniperla. Staff is very kind. Love that they give fluffy fresh bread with delicious salsas and a butter spread to start.

HIGHLY recommend! We visited literally 6 times during our time in Oaxaca 🙈. Couldn’t get enough of the aguas frescas, mole oaxaquena, memelitas, everything on the breakfast menu (can’t go wrong), pancakes. The staff was so welcoming and amazing service. Clean, beautiful atmosphere, and we left feeling so energized from every meal. Thanks so much, especially to Rigo and rest of the staff!

Restaurante Taniperla was my favorite dining experience in not only Oaxaca but all of Mexico. We came back a second night for dinner because the food was so good and the ambience so inviting. The Mole is the best I've ever eaten. We had so much fun sampling some of their many Mezcals. What a special experience. The staff is knowledgeable and incredibly friendly & attentive. We had the perfect night! Twice! If you're in Oaxaca, don't miss Restaurante Taniperla!

With traffic in Oaxaca sometimes feeling like the Indianapolis 500 and after walking ourselves into the ground Restaurante Tanipera was a refuge from the storm, a welcome sanctuary for the weary! Set back from the street it is a different world unto itself, welcoming and restoring. The food was great! Perfectly fresh and honest in its preparation. My wife loved her shrimp tacos and I loved both the cheese and the mole! I mean, isn’t it the mole the thing you come to Oaxaca for in the first place? The service was fantastic! We felt welcomed and cared for, ignorant tourists that we were. And the smoothies! I could live off them! This is the kind of place you put on “The List” if you know what I mean. It’s the list the old timers have. The list you share with your friends. Part of the list I’m sharing with you.
