"You may not be aware that fried cuttlefish is one of Setúbal’s most typical dishes. So, it’s not by chance that this restaurant is barely 200 metres from the statue of the “Fried Cuttlefish”, where you’ll also find a mural featuring fish found in the waters around the city. Understandably, cuttlefish features strongly on the menu at Xtoria, where it is prepared in a unique way and with a hint of modernity. Affordably priced dishes that you won’t want to miss include the cuttlefish with ponzu, black potato, sriracha mayonnaise and lumpfish caviar; the Mertolenga beef loin with tuna sabayon and Eringy mushrooms in port wine; and, to round things off, the cardamom cream with a ginger cookie and mango chutney." - Michelin Inspector

I was looking forward to our dinner at Xtoria after reading the reviews and realizing that it has a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating. The menu looked very interesting as well. I made sure to make a reservation a week before our arrival to Setúbal. The service was friendly so we thought we were off to a good start until we received the first dish. There was nothing anyone particularly liked, everything was so bland. The taste (or the lack thereof) was in high contrast with the elaborate description in the menu and the nice plating. I enjoyed the tiger prawn in my dish but that was about it. I had to apologize to my partner and our friends since I was the one who picked this restaurant. We did not even want to order any desserts. It is very unfortunate because the vision is there but the execution fell really short. I am giving 2 stars due to our high expectations set by the Michelin selection.

One of the best restaurants I ever dined in. Let’s start with the place. The restaurant is decorated with taste. The lady who welcomed us was so professional giving us what we need as info about the menu. Smiling and calm it was really nice to discuss with her. The food is just perfect. Perfect balance of flavors and textures. All the dishes were so good. I highly recommend this restaurant for a perfect dinner in Setubal.

I love dining and I love when I find a place like this. There's something very satisfying about a place with a sense of self, who knows what it is or what it wants to be, and works to deliver it. There was nothing on the menu we didn't want to try: the dishes felt quintessentially local and appropriate while still managing to engage our curiosity. Everything we were served was delicious and the service itself was equally as delicious, with a very open and genuine hand. I can't praise this meal enough. There's something very special about seeing the ingredients you grew up eating turned upside down in unexpected places. A black pudding crum with an olive oil doused chocolate mousse remains on my mind as an absolute victory, it was stunning. To the team, thank you for a lovely meal, thank you for the genuine and friendly hospitality. I can speak for my whole party when I saw we had a great night.

I came here a few nights ago and I’ve eaten here every meal since. I love food from the bottom of my heart but the chefs here know depth of flavour like no one else. The unique flavour combinations are next level and the cook on everything was perfection. The fried egg starter is exquisite- an absolute must. We ordered the steak, duck, and risotto- I’ve never struggled so much to pick a favourite. They are all so special and delicious. The rose sangria is also lovely. Cheers to the chef and see you soon :)

Special place for a great dine in experience in Setúbal. Food is incredible and the service is top notch as well. Calm atmosphere and the quality-price ratio is excellent, bearing in mind the complexity of the dishes! Highly recommended!

Amazing restaurant, the waiter was really nice and very friendly. The owner seemed very humble and looked "familiar" like someone you've known for a long time. The food... was just.. the pictures speak for themselves.

Stunning food, gorgrous wines, incredible service by Pedro, fun atmosphere. The lemon mousse has me dreaming of returning, which is a great thing because we live across the street. Bruno, the owner is absolutely charming. Go. Right now. :)
