Yoko Barbate

"A modern restaurant in which the cuisine comes as a pleasant surprise, combining Japanese and Mediterranean cooking with the very best products from the province of Cádiz. An open-view kitchen and enticing menus complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

Situated opposite the port area in Barbate, with plenty of free parking, this is a gem of a restaurant serving exclusivelyJapanese inspired/ style food. We were able to walk in without reserving for lunch on a Tuesday after September, but I suspect that booking is advised during the high season. The service is efficient and the staff is knowledgeable . The food is zingyingly fresh and beautifully presented. This restaurant has made it into the Michelin guide and with good reason, but it is not a budget option. We live locally, so we intend to work our way through the seasonal menu. Thank you to all the staff for a special lunchtime treat.

We went to this restaurant with high expectations and unfortunately, we came out quite disappointed. The food is good, but let's be honest, far from being over the top (there are plenty of sushi chefs in Europe who can boast about much higher quality). We tried several nigiri, some rolls, and a dish of tempura, which was the best of them all. Finally, while service was excellent and attentive, the prices are way too high for the offer and for the tiny portions.

Best place for tuna tasters. Michelin guide with fair prices. Highly recommend.

Incredible fish, creative flavors, and great wine options. A must visit.

The best restaurante for me. I went with my family and we loved it. The price is very fair, and the quality of products are incredible. Such a shame that I live in Madrid and I can’t go there every month. I look forward to have a new experience there. My husband never forget the Parpatana, OMG. For me this place is much better than a Michelin star that I had been. Best quality and price as well. Well done, great job.

Disappointing experience. We traveled to Barbate to try this highly recommended restaurant, only to find lots of dissatisfaction with service and menu options. We had the omakase and after mentioning to our waiter that the ceviche nikkei was overly sour and disproportionately seasoned, we received a “that’s ponzu sauce taste”. Certainly not what we expected to hear. Regardless, quality of raw materials is high but comparing this to top sushi restaurants is not justified particularly at the high price range. A New York Times food critic wouldn’t even bother to write a review. End of story.

Exquisite food, however staff could be more attentive as our table remained uncleaned throughout the meal although it obviously need cleaning, especially since the utensils were placed on the table surface.

Very hard working team with desire to innovate. Some new dishes make it to all time favorites. Others just press you with Chiefs courage.
