The food was presented beautifully. We have been to many local Slovenian restaurants, Michelin guide places and Michelin star restaurants and we were excited to try out this restaurant that is on the Michelin guide. However, we were very disappointed with the “Highland” menu. They served us crumbs with water. The marinated trout didn’t seem to be marinated at all, it tasted like raw fish and nothing else. The fish dish supposed to have hints of balsamic and apricot but all it could be tasted was the raw fish. The porcini ice cream was the worse thing we had, needed to rush back to our room to wash our mouths, the after taste was not pleasant. They were serving the next dish before cleaning the plates from the previous serving. At some point our table was full of dirty dishes and silverware. The other dishes were ok, but nothing memorable. I believe the restaurant and chef put a lot of work and dedication to craft a nice experience and we just happened to run into not their optimal experiment, which happens.
