Restaurant Le L’Assom is Still Fielding Reviews — Good and Bad — After Legault Paid it a Visit | Eater Montreal

"I noted that the casse‑croûte’s poutine drew intense attention after Quebec Premier François Legault publicly praised it, describing the fries as homemade and "just crispy enough," the cheese as fresh and light, and the sauce as creamy and perfectly salty, rating it 9.5/10 and calling it "worth the detour." His visit triggered polarized Google Reviews: a wave of angry one‑star posts condemning the premier and criticizing the restaurant for serving him, and a much larger wave of five‑star defenders — Eater counted about 40 one‑star reviews versus roughly 400 five‑star reviews in five days (out of 618 total). The owner, Pierre Martel, said he woke to fourteen one‑star reviews and reproachful private messages, the restaurant’s average rating fell from a pre-visit perfect five stars to about 3.9 before climbing back to roughly 4.5 after a "wave of love," and the business publicly thanked supporters on Facebook while sympathetic reviewers pledged to visit and praised that the spot "serves everyone, even a premier." - Valerie Silva

The best poutine ever!!! Even gluten-free version is still the best one I’ve had!! They have a lot of gluten-free & celiac safe options like poutine, sandwiches & pogo with caring, safety & high quality. It’s totally worth to drive 1hr here to enjoy a lovely meal! 😍😍🤩🤩

I highly recommend trying this establishment. The food is both flavorful and plentiful, and the staff is attentive to your preferences and any dietary restrictions. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience and will certainly return.

If you're looking for the best poutine this is the right place! We're on our way from Quebec city to Montreal and stopped especially for this place. Authentic quebec food❤️ Definitely worth to visit.

Hey Celiac friends, this is the place you've been wanting, a lot of celiac safe options, staff awesome and they will go above and beyond to explain or adapt a dish for example a Kilimanjaro poutine ;). The only thing I have to say is that there 2h away from me, so I have to make every reason to detour towards them whenever I'm close by. :) Worth it !

Love or hate the Premier, the poutine at Le L'Assom is in my top 3 ever. The fries are from local potatoes and are crispy yet fluffy on the inside. The sauce is... there's something about the sauce that is really good, miles above the rest! If you're in the area, go. You won't be disappointed.

We drove about an hour from montreal and it was well worth it. My partner is celiac and has not enjoyed a worry-free meal like this in a while. Friendly staff. Good poutine and toasted hot dogs(thats all we had).

We went here earlier today on a Saturday afternoon for a big poutine. Good price, really generous amount of cheese and sauce. The cheese was super fresh and squeaky. Classic poutine.
