老青屋明记肉骨茶 Old Green House Beng Kee Bak Kut Teh

Old Green House houses 2 very famous stalls, Bak Kut Teh and the Penang Hokkien Mee, which Michelin listed for the past few years. Definitely one of the best claypot-cooked Bak Kut Teh in Georgetown, it is known for its rich herbal flavour, the broth is deeply aromatic and “packed with flavour.” The set comes with ribs, pork belly, tofu skin, mushrooms, and youtiao and unlimited soup. Served in a coffee shop that also serves one of the best Hokkien Mee, the meal is considered good value at between RM20-30 per person The only disappointment was the Lor Bak. Which was expensive at RM6.00 per piece and yet was very average.

5 stars for the yummy oyster omelette! The best I've had and what a pleasant surprise to find Anthony Bourdain's pic on the cart. Portion was small but small oysters were aplenty. 4 stars for their char koay teow which wasn't as good, a little on the sweet side. Bah kut teh was meh.... the soup was a bit too thick for me, I'd say 3 stars worth.

The soup was deep, dark, and full of herbal flavour, comforting and satisfying. The cabbage with pork floss stood out — simple yet beautifully done. Service was friendly and efficient, making the experience even better.

Soup is thick and filled with the herbal aroma, just nice. It’s even better when u soak the you char kuih together with the soup, absolutely satisfying, craving fixed !!!

The owners of the stall were really friendly and recommended us to try the dry hor fun which was really good. The bak kut teh broth was fragrant and was packed full of ingredients. If you are in the area you should give it a try! Please ignore some of the other reviews, they are reviewing other stalls instead of this one (why are you leaving reviews about lor bak and hokkien mee on a review meant for the bak kut teh??)

Tasted fabulous! Rich aroma, not too garlicky and right balance with the herbal taste. Owner was verrrry nice and welcoming. Came by myself and he made a small portion for me and charged me less too. Right portion given with everything that I could finish all by myself, not wasting food. Lovely! Typical hawker stall setting but very clean!

There is a lot of ingredients but also expensive. There is no menu, so you may want to ask for the price. If you say "small", there is small for 1 pax and small for 2pax. If you only want a tasting portion. Say "small for 1 person". I only said small, and the lady taking order asked me how many people. I said 2. Hence, i wa given a bigger portion and it costs rm30. Taste wise, is ok. But nothing impressive. The lady taking order is super friendly.

The curry is very nice too me. Chilli can b very spicy. For those who dun take spicy, should ask for less spicy. Without chilli, the soup is whitish n more coconut taste. Overall, it suits my taste very much. Suitable for Singaporean taste.
