Retrobottega - Cibarie e Mescita

Discovered Retrobottega through Google Maps after arriving in Florence from Montecatini. It was that in-between time, too late for breakfast but definitely in need of something savory. We arrived around 10:30 and were the first guests as the staff was still setting up. Despite that, we were warmly welcomed and handed the menu right away. We ordered coffee, an iced tea, the Tricolore and the Bambola. Everything was beautifully prepared and incredibly flavorful. Just the perfect meal we were craving at that moment. A cozy spot with great food and kind service. Highly recommended if you’re in Florence and looking for something fresh, simple, and satisfying.

This shop has good famous Florence sandwiches. They are freshly made. Well, at least in January. Idk about the peak season.

Excellent sandwiches with fresh bread, hand sliced meats. Quick with fair prices, and also a good drink selection. Friendly service in Italian and English. Perfect for a stop while sight seeing.

The panninis and foccacia sandwiches are amazing. Creative, fast service, delicious, good vegetarian selections. Honestly I tried to go somewhere else for my second day in Florence but couldn’t find anything that compares and defaulted to here again with no regrets. The coffee is great too. Overall great value! If it’s the only thing you do in Florence, come here!

Retrobottega was a fantastic find! We tried the Sloppy Rob and the Bambola — both were delicious. Prices were very reasonable (around €7–10), especially for the quality. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The eating area is small, but cozy, and perfect for a quick, satisfying bite. Highly recommend!

From the best sandwich we’ve ever had on Sunday (21st September) to the saddest sandwich on Tuesday (23rd September) The people serving the sandwiches were different on Tuesday, and the sandwich was just sad. Even the same exact one we had on Sunday and wanted to repeated, was totally different and almost without any filling (last photo) It’s sad because we loved the place on Sunday, but if it’s this inconsistent, it’s hard to recommend

I cannot emphasize enough how incredible these sandwiches are. This was our go-to restaurant during our three days in Florence. We went to get food at 10:15 PM and the kitchen was closed, but they were still able to make us the Sloppy Rob and Boscaiolo Chic, which were both amazing. We ended up getting 7 sandwiches here in three days, so if that doesn’t prove how good they are, I don’t know what will. The staff were also super welcoming and friendly, and they recognized us every time we came back even though we only met a few times. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

Really cool spot with a great choice of a various bans, we had one with pulled beef, a bif of american style as they also had a pastrami one, but a proper Italian touch and priced around 7-10 euros. They also did speak really good English. Defo recommend
