Tacos and Rooftop Oysters: Mercado Opens in Wedgewood Houston | Eater Nashville

"At the City Heights coffee shop at 2714 Clifton Avenue I experienced the newly debuted Bar at Retrograde, which offers classic and new cocktail creations after 5 p.m.; notable drinks include the Bloodletter (red wine, apple brandy, pomegranate, and hibiscus), Sidecar Named Desire (apple butter, apple brandy, lemon, cider cinnamon syrup, and Cointreau), and the Retro Fashioned (whiskey, pecan maple brown sugar, and black walnut bitters), and the bar also features a wine menu curated by Kelly Boutwell of the Serious Sip with selections from organic, off-the-beaten-path vineyards and various wines on tap." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Retrograde is quickly becoming one of my favorite coffee shops. To start, parking is refreshingly easy and plentiful, especially compared to other coffee shops in the area. The interior features ample seating, large windows, and a calming atmosphere that is perfect for focused work. A creature of habit, I have only tried one of their drinks thus far, but the Kavlatte has not disappointed me each time I've ordered it. Bonus points for the option to get your drink in either a to-go cup or a glass if you're sticking around! The true standout aspect of each of my experiences at Retrograde has been the delightful staff. Truly leagues more friendly and personable than any other coffee shop I've frequented. Everyone I have interacted with has been incredibly welcoming and kind. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, whether they are grabbing a coffee for the road, or planning to sit down and work or catch up with friends!

Google
The coffee was great and Grace the barista was even better. To prove both I have attached a picture. I grabbed a Starbucks cup then went to Retrograde and got a coffee. Poured their coffee in the Starbucks cup to convince my mom we(Nashville) had the best Starbucks in the country. She tasted Retrograde coffee in her Starbucks cup and knew it wasn’t Starbucks because of her 40 years of loyalty but said Retrograde was the best coffee she has had and if she lived in the city she would not go anywhere else. To pull this off Grace topped off the largest Starbucks cup to the brim to make it actually look like Starbucks. Thank you Grace and thank you Retrograde. THE BEST

This corner local coffee shop is amazing. The customer service is old school classic coffee shop vibe! The whole restaurant was amazing. The manager actually loves his job and wants to be there. So much knowledge about the roasts and brews. All the suggestions we had delighted me. Thanks n for a great visit and experience. We will stay near this location again!! Added a picture: I drink americanos. And they labeled cup USA. I worked in the coffee industry for years. Why did I never think of this!!

I wanted somewhere with good coffee and food options to sit at while I got some work done, and this was perfect! The bagel sandwiches are such a win, my iced vanilla latte was perfect, and the atmosphere is chill with relaxing (but not boring) music. Couldn’t ask for more.

We went to Retrograde Coffee for the first time this morning and loved it! I enjoyed the vibe of this coffee shop and the customer service was great. We both ordered the cortado and the everything bagel. So good! Definitely recommend Retrograde Coffee and will be coming back!

Yelp
I came here last weekend when I was in Nashville. I was looking for brunch spots in town, and this spot is a driving distance from my hotel, and it was busy, withinhappened .withinhappened but not overly packed with people out for brunch. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich and my all-timea favoriteall-time drink, the iced caramel latte with oat milk. I liked my time here and highly recommend this place for hanging out and enjoying a cup. The ambiance is open and very relaxing.

Yelp
Haley's Comet was delicious. The sourdough bagel was soft and crispy. The vegan sausage had a lot of flavor even though I mostly got a bean flavor. The layout of the shop is very cute and aesthetic. I love the way the sunlight hits on one side of the shop.

Yelp
This is a nice little coffee shop walkable from our AirBnB. My DH got coffee each morning of our stay. Service was friendly and, for the most part, quick. We had breakfast one morning; chia seed pudding for me (delicious and not overly sweet), while the rest of our party indulged in bagel breakfast sandwiches. They also serve alcoholic beverages but, even in Nashville, breakfast is too early for that for us. Open from 7:00 AM -3:00 PM. If you're in the neighborhood, it won't disappoint.

Yelp
Cute place with a clean and bright aesthetic. Coffee was good, and the latte art was very cute. Bagels were tasty and reasonably priced. Was pretty quiet on a weekday morning and would make a good place to study or work because it has plenty of outlets in convenient spots.

Yelp
Retrograde coffee was pretty good. The bagel was standard and had a good cream cheese ratio. The caramel latte I got was good! Overall I thought the ample seating was perfect for people who are looking to sit with groups or for laptop work. There were tons of outlets which made it seem convenient for people working from home at the cafe. I felt like the service aspect could be improved and some mini steps to improve seating/the overall experience could help the business excel even more

Yelp
Retrograde coffee. As a first timer, it was a convenient place to grab a quick breakfast as it's right below my apartment. I ordered a bagel and peanut butter, a London fog, and breakfast potatoes. While I'm very particular about my London fog, it was very delicious. However the items I bought to eat were disappointing. The bagel was salted, which was weird to me. And the breakfast potatoes tasted like leftovers from the previous day. Old and soggy. The ambiance is really nice, I'll try the spot again but in the evenings since they do a tapa style late night menu and have a bar. I'd get a London fog in the AM again, but that's it. The service was nice, the employees were pleasant and answered the few questions I did have.

Yelp
Great WiFi! AC was strong--ha! I got the bark-something latte and did not like it (personal preference). I also got the pesto sandwich and it was dry. The customer service was great! Clean bathroom.

Yelp
Good coffee, good flavor options, and great, freshly baked galettes from Dozen bakery. Friendly staff sometimes.

Yelp
I have been getting coffee here for over a year and more recently the occasional breakfast. They can be busy and the food can take awhile so it isn't my first choice but the several breakfast bagels I've had were good. Today was not the case. I ordered the Pepper, onion, egg, and Cream Cheese bagel that was on the board. If I'm being generous it had cream cheese on one quarter of the sandwich and not much there. Fortunately I had time to spare and decided to eat at the counter. I had gotten it to go. I was able to ask for cream cheese for the last quarter of the sandwich. Overall I'd say the sandwich was bad because it really needs the cream cheese to elevate the raw peppers and cooked onion.
