15 Excellent Restaurants to Try in Ealing

"Retsina and Mousaka, run by Cypriot couple Angelo and Maria, at once captures the transportive energy of an island taverna and a raucous, affably belligerent family kitchen — where overcooking the sheftalia would be both a mortal sin and something to be laughed about over pita maybe thirty seconds later. Humming with coriander seed and grill-blistered caul, there’s no such concern here — meanwhile souvla, blushing not just from perfectly judged grilling but its massaging with red wine and oregano, is in a slanging match with kleftiko about who is more tender. Start with tarama, rich like a marine face pack and served in great bowlfuls, as it was before every London chef betrayed its abundant richness into dinky fashion." - James Hansen

London’s Best Greek or Greek-Cypriot Restaurants for Mezze and Souvlaki - Eater London

"The charmingly slapdash decor, with walls covered by pots, pans, family photographs, and flags is always a good sign for a Greek restaurant. Chef Angelo runs the kitchen, while his wife Maria greets and serves diners, and the restaurant has a reputation for both the quality of service and the homely, flavourful cooking. Retsina and Mousaka serve dishes like Yayya (that’s grandma) makes them — no picture perfect plates here, just large, overflowing portions of comfort food. The meat mezze is amongst the most affordable on this list, at £22, but there’s also a fish mezze for £25, which includes the popular butterfly king prawns, marinated in olive oil, oregano, and lemon juice, and cooked slowly over a charcoal grill." - Chris Cotonou

Haven't been for a while. Angelo offers excellent customer service. Introduced a friend who hasn't had Greek food. We both enjoyed the selection. Meals are huge and well worth the price. Need to try Kleftico baby lamb so tender, feta cheese salad, and pitta bread. The wine Saint Pantelimo (excuse the spelling) medium sweet wine 👌🏾 Would highly recommend.

We have been going to Retsina & Mousaka since 1998, and I am not sure why I am posting a review only now. We love the food and the atmosphere, and each visit is like a party. The owner is lovely and always has time at the end of the meal for a little chat if you feel like it. Hidden gem in Ealing. Highly recommend. Pictures are from take-away.

Ordered traditional Greek meze this was very underwhelming. 4 starter dips (most places minimum 8 some even 12) No Kalamari, prawns or sea food of any sort like other places. Food received was nice and cooker well, but unfortunately many items missing from a traditional meze seems like cost saving tactics are being applied (no sign of olives too) also no Greek music or atmosphere within the place means I have to unfortunately leave this a low 3 stars.

Great tasty Greek (Cypriot) food. The place is small but cosy and has its own charm in a way. Very genuine. Food gets served in a reasonable time and the staff is very friendly. The portions are generous and the price is not too expensive for what you get in other places in the area. Recommended! I wouldn't mind going back again.

Always a good meal whether it's to eat in or takeaway. Mixed starters are enough to feed a family and all really tasty. Portion sizes for mains are huge. Great service every time.

Google
Very cosy nice Greek restaurant with good food. The seafood special for 2 is a good deal with lots of dips, calamari, grilled prawns and a fish of the day.

Yelp
A great place to take family/friends or even a quiet meal for two. This is probably one of the best Greek restaurants I have been to in London. The atmosphere is lovely, very welcoming and friendly. The décor is typical of Greek restaurants the world over. White, Blue and more white The music was ambient. The food is delicious and properly traditional They really get it right and don't stint on the servings. The menu is complete with everyone's Greek favourites. I took my mate & sister here and had a wonderful evening, we began our meal with Dolmades, Taramasalata and some Whitebait. Followed this with Kleftiko, for my mate whilst I shared a very generous Meat Mezedes, with my sister. We polished off 2 bottles of Othello Vintage and sat chatting for ages (with no feeling of being rushed). This, despite the place being popular & relatively busy. The meal cost £85 and was worth every penny. The waiters were amazingly nice and polite, very quick and so unobtrusive. The facilities are clean and well serviced. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible - However, the toilet doors seemed narrow. They also have a Take Away service.

Yelp
Me and my partner went to the restaurant after 9:30. Poor service because the male was to slow and lingering around when starters were ordered, as if he was in a rush for us to go. The male waiter brought the wrong main out ( I ordered a vegetarian mossaca ). Upon clarifying this, the female waitress denied and tried to cover up that they brought out the wrong one. At not moment did she show any remorse nor was apologetic. At this time my partner had his main and 10 minutes after he finished it, my main was still not brought out. Therefore I had enough and cancelled this. When the bill was brought, they still added extra charges such as a salad etc. Rather than compensate or apologise. We left at 10:45 with no apology, no main, no compensation and an expensive bill. Would not recommend this place unless you are happy with a long expensive non existent meal and a bad service.
