Wow! What an amazing place. The atmosphere alone is worth turning back some well preserved time. Then of course you have all the fine staff. In perfect attire to suit the business. All with the best customer service skills as well. As for my server Tanya. Man was she ever knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Certainly made my first visit to Montreal start off on the right foot. Let’s not forget the food. When in Rome you know…. So yes, I started my adventure with a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich and a sour pickle with slaw and fries. Take a very good look at that sandwich in the picture. Looks massive and delicious right? How about incredibly good tasting and extremely filling as well. You know the one in the picture…. Yeah that’s the regular size. Take another look, that’s regular. There’s one bigger! Why? lol!!! My goodness what a fantastic place, best food and amazing staff. When visiting head office I will be sure to make this one of my stops each time. You folks don’t just do it right. It’s perfection. Best Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich I have ever eaten. The famous super sandwich was exactly what I expected, delicious smoked meat! The drinks were very well made, great balance between ingredients/flavours, and nice presentation. Sadly the peanut butter fudge brownie cheesecake had nothing of a cheesecake. It was very good, nice PB taste, and the brownie crust/base was rich and thick, just not much cheese flavour. Hadn't eaten here in over 6 years. Glad the quality has remained, can't wait to return!

Ok….. I had no idea what an I getting my self into, BUT….. Sam ( the awesome guy working the bar) made it easy - smoked beef brisket! What the heck was that????? One of the most delicious things ever! Any way - the place is amazing. The way how to get there, was not. Until they will be done with the construction around, it is going to be challenging.

Matthew was our server and he was fantastic! Very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the Reuben and THE «OG» DELICATESSEN GRILLED CHEESE. My mom and wife loved the Reuben and the «OG» was fantastic! The smoked brisket was outstanding! The fries were also good. The portions are big enough to share. It was a great stop for lunch and you won’t be disappointed! Well worth it!

Fantastic experience. We had lunch there and our 3 young children. The smoked meat sandwich and the poutine was great. Our server Orly was fantastic. Extremely kind and helpful. Such a memorable experience for a casual lunch. I highly recommend.

If you’re craving a perfect portioned and flavourful smoked meat sandwich, Reuben’s is the perfect place! LOVE their smoked meat and the portion definitely kept me full! The bread was soft and it soaked in the juices and made every bite just as good! There was a huge line up outside so definitely line up early!

Thanks to Sam for looking after me at the bar. Am in Montreal on my own and was going to hide away and just order room service but so glad I ventured out and found this place! I wasn’t sure what to order and Sam kindly offered to give me a sample of the smoked meat. Oh my god, amazing, so just HAD to have the smoked meat sandwich. Couldn’t quite finish it but had to try in some Black Forest cake too, yum! Wine was also great. Food was amazing, service even better. Thanks so much!!

We went in for a late dinner a couple of hours before closing. The hostesses were so warm and we got a sweet booth by the window. Every single thing on my plate was delicious and I still ate off of the other plates around me. The carrot cake and strawberry cheesecake are mouthwatering. We’ll for sure be back soon. Reuben's Deli & Steakhouse is the place for smoked meat in downtown Montreal. We found this place right before arriving and were impressed with the quality of the food and service. We shared French onion soup and fried pickles to start. We also shared a ten ounce smoked meat sandwich, accompanied by French fries, cole slaw, and a pickle.

Portions are pretty big. 10oz sandwich doesn't sound that big but it sure was filling. I ordered the banana peppers since they have them displayed nicely in a jar and they brought 3 huge peppers. I tried to order one each of the peppers they display but they said "normally we don't do that" which means they must sometimes.. Asked for a side of plain poutine (without the brisket) and it was tasty.

Came here because of tiktok and would say it's average at best. The service was great though! We ordered the fried pickles, bbq poutine, and the delicatessen grilled cheese. To start, the fried pickles were very sweet and fried but not crispy. The house aioli and "spicy ketchup" were also very sweet, with the latter being rather odd tasting in my opinion (couldn't quite place the taste). The bbq poutine had a nice flavor but the meat was rather fatty; I didn't enjoy the cheese pulls on this though! For the sandwich, despite all the meat and the heartburn :'), it didn't really have much taste? The cheese was relatively cold and the smoked meat didn't really have that smoked flavor to it. We also got it with a side of mashed potatoes and it was the blandest mashed potatoes I have ever had. Don't have any other smoked meat sandwich to compare to but wasn't that impressed with this one, or the other foods. Cool diner vibes inside though and again, great service!

OH MY GOD. The smoked meat sandwich here is TO DIE FOR! I couldn't believe I happened across the best sandwich spot in the entire world on a random weekday because it was near my hotel. The food here is huge in portions, super decadent and perfect in flavor, and the service is amazing. I would come back to Montreal just to have this again! Crying tears afterward because I don't have a place remotely as good at this at home. The French onion soup was as good as everyone says and the steak sandwiches have the highest quality meat. This place is so worth every penny!

This Reuben does a lot of stuff right. The smoke meat here is just wonderful. Even my girlfriend that hate smoke meat like it! I took the smoke meat many time and it's always a delight. I also tried the pizza once. It was good but not my type. This time, I tried the smoke meat poutine. It was good but its not the best I ate. The problem reside in the fries. The fries that is used for the poutine (which is the same with any meal) are good but not made for poutine. If you like poutine with fries like mc Donald, you will like it since it's like that but better. Like I said, it's good but not my type. Table are very small. It's just good for 2 so with 4 person, your crampes, specially in winter with coats, bags, etc. Staff is always very friendly, helpful and ready to help you.

We tried the famous sandwiches and onion soup at this restaurant. I particularly liked their onion soup because it wasn't too sour and had a lot of cheese, which made it very satisfying. The sandwiches were of high quality, packed with meat, and definitely worth a try for everyone. 我哋試咗呢間餐廳好出名嘅三文治同埋洋蔥湯。我特別鍾意佢嘅洋蔥湯，食起上嚟唔會話好酸，而且有勁多芝士，好有飽足感。而三文治係非常高質，啖啖肉，值得大家嚟一試。

Large and in-charge portions, you'll certainly get your money's worth. Personally I felt the flavor of the smoked meat was lacking, not much smoke flavor at all. And when the entire sandwich is just bread and mustard, you really have to rely on a good meat presentation. Burger was worth eating, but also felt like it left something to be desired. Fries were the best part of what we ordered. Perfectly crunchy

Enjoyed a nice, casual dinner here last night while visiting Montréal. The famous super sandwich met every expectation and the smoked meat was super tender and flavourful. The 'OG' deli grilled cheese was a perfect blend of all of its components and each bite was delicious. Our server recommended getting a salad for some greens so we added a baby house salad to balance out the tremendous amount of meat. Overall, would highly recommend for the great food, friendly and attentive service and comfortable dining room interior!

So gooooooood! Def recommend you eat here in your visit. Great customer service and even better food. The French dip was fantastic. The coleslaw is not the creamy kind, more vinegar... great pickles and the smoked meat. Yum'

Visiting Montreal for a weekend, I knew we had to try the Pastrami here! The service is great here and super friendly. I enjoyed the booths that were super roomy and allowed for some privacy in the large dining space. My friend and I ordered from the lunch menu and ordered the Famous Super Sandwich and the Pulled Shortrib Mac & Cheese. Wow!! Both were sooo delish. I am not usually a pastrami person... but the pastrami was incredible and so delicious! The Mac & Cheese was really great too and so filling. The pulled shortrib is just as delicious and cooked so well. The sauce of the shortrib is a great complement to the mac & cheese. It is quite a heavy meal to enjoy for lunch, but is so worth it.

Really funny and friendly service. Lots of meat! The portions are massive and a pretty good value. The desserts are also huge. Loved my smoked meat sandwich. The room has nice booths and memorabilia.

The best Rueben sandwich I've ever had. Their meats are smoked till they melt in your mouth. They have several different sandwiches but I recommend their deli Reuben with just mustard on rye bread. It's huge even for 2 people. Comes with fries and cole slaw. We split 1 sandwich and I didn't even finish my half. But that didn't stop us from trying their cheesecake too. It's about 4 - 5 inches of cheesecake. It was very good as well. We saw locals and tourists alike. Don't miss when visiting Montreal.

One weekday while 50 tourists were waiting in line at Schwartz's, I decided to forgo the "velvet rope", and walked into Reuben's. Glad I did! Sat at the bar and received excellent service from a knowledgeable bar tender. Was steered to their version of smoked meat on rye. This sandwich consists of piled high meat, moist and lean, on fresh rye with Dijon. The meat itself is EXCELLENT and reminded me most of the great pastrami palaces that once existed in NYC. Fries were house made and crisp shoestrings. Pickle and coleslaw were house made and vinegary good. The Heineken on tap was ice cold and perfectly balanced this awesome sandwich. Atmosphere is somewhat familiar, reminiscent of many of today's chain restaurants, but your not going to notice because this place has legit food that is gonna keep your attention!

A classic Montreal spot for smoked meat brisket since 1976. (A must visit spot as a tourist) We tried: Original Reuben Sandwich $26 Reuben's Chop-Chop Poutine $20 To be honest, I'm not a fan of smoked meat but the choper smoked meat on top of the poutine was delicious. It's a great way to try smoked meat if you aren't down to eat an entire smoke meat sandwich. Food Ambiance 5/5 Parking Service 5/5

Very beautiful restaurant serving sandwiches and such in Downtown MTL. Fried pickles, reuben sandwich, and roast beef melt were all very good, portions were large.

Food was soooo good. We ordered OG sandwich with sausage bacon melted cheese and thinly slice brisket with brioche bread. It was mouthwatering. We shared because the serving was so big good for 2. Service was fast and the girl was to attentive. Ambiance was so New York . Would love to come back . Pricey but worthy.

Some friends and I were craving smoked meat, so we found this spot after a quick search. After waiting for around 30 minutes for a table of 6, we were seated in this bustling restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the food here! I tried the Original Reuben Sandwich, which had grilled smoked meat. Although small, the sandwich was very filling and very tasty! The service here was also pretty good, our waiter was patient with us while we were trying to choose from the menu.

When in Montréal do what the Montréal locals do which is to eat Poutine! While walking around the city stopped in here to try out some authentic poutine. It was one of the places that the hotel recommended as well so it just really worked out that we walked past it. It was around 4pm and we were able to be sat right away. The hostess was also the server and had amazing personality. We asked her what she recommended and guess what she said? Nope not poutine but pizza! So we tried both. The pizza was pretty darn good. Apparently this place is known for their smoked meat so on the pizza you got that smokey flavor with the meat. It was almost too much meat flavor to be honest. The poutine was also good. We got the smoked meat based on her recommendation. I could have done without the meat but of course had to try it. Overall I thought the food was fine. Nothing overly amazing but it made for a good visit because we were sat right away, the service was great and the price wasn't super expensive.

Highly recommend Reubens and it's one of my favorite spots to go to when I'm in Montreal. The smoked meat is top tier in comparison to other smoked meat spots in my opinion. Food and service here is always exceptional. My favourite is their Original Reuben Sandwich and it's big enough to share or eat on your own if you're super hungry. Overall, I would recommend this spot for their smoked meat sandwiches! Poutine is pretty good as well!

We were looking for a place to grab food near the hotel and we stumbled across this place. We ended up ordering take out. I feel like its a better idea to dine in because the food was underwhelming. I got the bbq sandwich and it was good, but felt like it needed something else inside. The sister got a sandwich as well and she enjoyed it. The bbq poutine was a little disappointing. I felt like it was just a blob of sauce and cheese thrown on. It didn't have much taste to it. I think since we got take out, the fries definitely got super soggy. The carrot cake was delicious, but not worth the price.

I ordered Montreal sandwich through Uber and it did not disappoint. Yummy and tasty. Quick and easy.

This well loved establishment has been here forever. And everyone knows about it. Just fun energy in the air, as you walk in and get seated right away. The friendly staff was great. We got too huge meals and we loved them. The smoked meat sandwich was very good. The poutine is really good. I had not had it before. The waiter showed his excitement when I mentioned that. It is a casual vibe. Many people are wearing sneakers, kicks, casual clothes. Now I need a nap. Food coma!

Ordered to go & service was very fast. Food was hot, and simply smelt divine. I got the classic Reuben with a side of poutine (upcharge). The poutine was my favorite part of the dish. The sandwich itself was good, but not the best Reuben I've ever had. The meat is sliced thin and well seasoned. Not a lot of sauerkraut. Secret sauce is good as well. Would definitely come back to try a dine in experience.

In my quest in search of the best delis in New York City and Montreal, Rueben's was recommended, and, as I soon learned, wisely so. Besides serving up a great Reuben Super Sandwich consisting of a large portion of lean Corned Beef on Rye with Swiss Cheese and juicy Kosher Dill Pickle Spears, a bonus was a very good bowl of French Onion Soup made with well-melted Mozzarella Cheese and homemade Sourdough Croutons. Wiggly skinny French Fries were also great. Vinegary Coleslaw was excellent. And Diane was pleased with her Le French Dip with a generous quantity of beef and Vermouth Au Jus. The only downside was a gnat hovering over our food. We were seated quickly during the noon hour, without a reservation. Service was swift and friendly. And booth seating was comfortable. A showcase of available cakes looked very inviting, but we resisted the urge to partake. If I am ever again in Montreal, I will surely be back for more fine deli fare. XXXX-1/2 stars overall!

Had a great lunch. Had the original Ruben sandwich at the bar. Daniel was the bartender. He was kind and attentive. Sandwich had the right balance of flavours with nothing overpowering the rest of the sandwich. Little pricy so not an every day sandwich but well worth it when the time is right.

There are two Reuben's on St. Catherine, only go to this one closer to Stanley St. 1116 Saint-Catherine St W, Montreal, Quebec H3B 1H4, Canada with the larger sign. Order the smoked meat (Famous Super Sandwich), or a Reuben sandwich. It's meat is soft, not salty and has a nice smoked flavor. The Mediterranean grilled chicken salad is my go to meal. Or, the chimichurri steak salad if you want some juicy no fat steak. Yum! The service is usually very fast and I like how they cook steaks. Their burgers are also huge.

Reuben's is middle of the road Smoked Meat. They get business based on location. If you want awesome Smoked head to Schwartz.

The most unwelcome place ever , when i was talking to manager or someone who said its "his restaurant" just turned around and left when we were talking to him , extremely rude , not polite, doesnt know how to treat customers , ended up by taking desert in a box and running around , the dat is ruined , HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED if you dont want to be treated like pigs

What an amazing experiences! My family love this place! When we search for a sandwich place that have a good poutine I thought Ruben was going to be just a little sandwich shop. When we enter the door we found out that they have a full dinning services with an amazing staff will take you to your table the décor is very and nice seating arrangement all around the restaurant, it is a very busy place and have a lots of tables but you still have some privacy. The place is huge so no worries about not finding table also the place is very nice and somewhat elegant. We fit right in like we have been before. The ambience is great and it is very busy during lunch hours. The services is great even during busy hours we still had an amazing service, we felt very welcome to the restaurant. As you can see the food looks great and it was amazing really ! We enjoyed all the dishes we tried and I love the portions, my husband and I shared a sandwich and it was more than enough. If you never had a poutine before, this is the right place to try it. The price and the amount of food you get is worth all your money. Overall our experiences about restaurants and coffee shop in Montreal are above and beyond. If you love a sandwiches with quality and have a lots of meat, give this place a try you wont be disappointed. Over all the food here is very very high quality and you get to seat and enjoy your meal with no rush. We love this place and we will come back again

Came here for the classic Montréal Reuben Sandwich. Honestly, for food that is usually quite greasy, this place did a great job of making this sandwich light in the stomach with a good balance of sauerkraut and cheese. The order comes with delicious fries. This place is also on the pricier side. But, the portions are big enough for two people to share, comfortably.

Being from the states, we wanted to try Montreal-style smoked meat and decided to dine in here on a weekday afternoon. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by friendly staff and see several plates adorned on the left side of the restaurant with famous artists that dined at the restaurant to include their signatures. We started with their smoked meat Mac and cheese which was a HUGE win for our table of four. We devoured it! The Mac and cheese was delicious and the meat was perfectly cooked. We then progressed to have their famous super sandwich which I highly recommend to truly experience Montreal's smoked meat. The sandwich was very very big! I highly recommend to split this between 2 people, we made the mistake of ordering it for 1 person and ended up having to take it home. The sand which itself was delicious, the meat was tender with a LOT of flavor. By far the BEST sandwich I've had thus far. I am not a fan of sandwiches but after dining here, I am a BELIEVER! We also had their Luxe club and delmonico sandwiches which were also delicious! Thus, overall, service is great! Restaurant is beautiful and their food is delicious. If you want to try Montreal style smoked meat, then this is the place to go. But you cant go wrong with any of the sandwiches, they are all equally delicious. And make sure to split the sandwiches between 2 people, they are very large.

$29.89 for 2 slices of cake!!! Not cool So here's the thing my husband decided to surprise me & pick up 2 desserts for pickup from Rueben's. He opted for the Carrot Cake & Strawberry Cheesecake, well for one thing Cheesecake portion is extremely & noticeably smaller. Really not impressed!! Especially when it end up costing $29.89 taxes included for 2 small pieces of cake. Total rip-off!!!!!My only recommendation stay away.

We ordered one of their lunch special, no kidding, one of the best Steak Sandwiches even the French fries taste really good. Strongly recommend!

Yummy poutine & a super delicious Cesar salad. Docking one star because the service was just kinda eh. He didn't do anything to get to know me or really make any conversation, and as someone who dines by myself often this really makes a difference. Wine was barely chilled, and I felt like I was being a annoying trying to stop him to ask for ice so I didn't bother. When trying to cut my salad, either a manager or host noticed and brought me over a sharp steak knife to make it easier which I thought was kind of her to notice. Would go back again, but would also try somewhere new first before going back.

We were visiting from California (US) and saw this on Yelp. We ended up eating lunch and dinner here. Had the Super Ruben for lunch. Wow. I was happy. I came back and a ribeye. Cooked perfect (medium done right). Great service and atmosphere. I didn't have it but the cheesecake looked like heaven on a plate.

Unfortunately Montreal is losing it's smoked meat heritage. There are still a few traditional places for a real smoked meat, and this is one of them. Get your self over there and take a bite. Buttery tender sandwich with smoked karnatzel, wedge of pickle and cole slaw. Food nirvana.

Very solid place for classic hugh quality deli sandwiches. It's large and full of people but clean and with decent service. Good lighting and the ambiance feels very late 90s to me. I got a pastrami and my fiancee got a french dip. Both were good.

Really looked amazing from looking at the menu, so we thought we'd check it out. Nice-ish setting, tho not so crazy about a WWE actor's signed plate decorating the wall. Maybe that should have served as a warning. The portion were WWE-comical in size. Would look great on TV, I suppose. Just like 'wrestling,' though, it was all appearance and no substance. Next to zero flavor on what must have been a 2-3,000 calorie serving of smoked meat, bacon, sausage, and poutine. Ok, the poutine was passable, though not great. Would not recommend.

Ok, I'm writing this for those tourists from out of town (like me) looking for a place to eat. This is it. The restaurant was full (which is a sign) and the staff we're working in overdrive. But...service was great, staff were friendly, and the food came out quickly. The Super was a delicious sandwich with a generous portion of Montreal's answer to Pastrami. The fries were perfect and the slaw was tasty (and I don't really like slaw). I also ordered the Mac & Cheese to taste. While saving for lunch tomorrow, I have it a taste. Wasn't the best I've had but it was very good. I'd order again. Finally, I also ordered a Mediterranean Salad. Delicious! As much as I wanted to try a slice, the desserts cakes looked amazing. A slice is a meal all by itself! if you want good food, large portions served by friendly and capable staff at a price that won't break the bank, drop on by. It's not a NY deli, so don't expect it to be one.

First meal in Montreal. Trying a poutine is a must, so I've heard and was looking forward to it. Altogether, poutine w beef brisket chop chop was ordered as an appetizer, salmon w/ pilaf rice and filet mignon w/ mash potato as entrees. Maybe every place has their own way of making their poutine, but this poutine experience was disappointing. The poutine gravy was bland, salmon was dry and pilaf rice was hard. On the upside, the filet mignon was very tender and was delicious along w/ the mash potato. The alcoholic drinks were also good. Orlie was our waiter and he was very nice and accommodating. The establishment t itself was nice and the atmosphere was friendly and casual.

So when I was here visiting Montreal, I of course wanted to try Montreal Smoked Meat. Schwartz's Deli is obviously the go to place, but since I was in Downtown and I was in that area on my last day, I of course did not have enough time to go up to Schwartz's, nor did I want to trek all the way up there. As a result, the group of friends I came here with recommended to me that we come here, since this place was also very famous for its smoked meat. Boy, this place did not disappoint at all! The restaurant is often jam-packed full (which is a very good sign), yet the service is fast and friendly, and the food is quickly prepared, promptly delivered yet is of very high quality. The food prices are a bit on the higher side for Montreal but absolutely worth the higher price. The interior is also quite nice, too. Only thing to note is that in order to access the washrooms here, you need to go up a flight of stairs. There is no elevator, from what I know. It's important for me to note about the smoked meat sandwich that it was VERY large when served to me. Good luck trying to eat it with your hands - you will need it. They stuff a TON of smoked meat in the sandwich. But this is what we want to see, right? I'm seeing a lot of reviews about how good the dessert is here. I was too full to even consider having it, so this review won't cover what that is like. Otherwise, I will definitely be back here when in Montreal again.

Visiting Montreal a necessary culinary stop is for their famous Jewish deli smoked meat. Having no particular establishment in mind my group was lucky to stumble upon Rubin's. Generous portions at reasonable prices we were all pleased and satisfied with our meals. One of my party couldn't eat her whole meal and offered me half of her smoked turkey sandwich. How could I refuse? After our meal we decided to climb Mount Royal. A great view and unforgettable experience ... but not on a full stomach. This visit was prepandemic ... I will definitely revisit this restaurant on my next visit to Montreal.
