The Best Restaurants in the Eastside of King County | Eater Seattle

"Since 2016, this family-owned kopitiam (a traditional Southeast Asian coffee shop) helmed by Grace Ting and Robert Tju has offered personal takes on Malaysian classics. The nasi lemak ayam berempah features expertly marinated fried chicken, sauce-laden broken rice, a particularly savory sambal, and a collection of other ingredients to customize each bite. Bring one or two friends to split the roti canai beef rendang or any of the laksa bowls — deeply herbal and tangy broth shines here. Reunion is open for on-site and takeout dining." - Brett Bankson

Google
This self-service concept where we ordered first and then bus to our own cleaned up. Despite this, we returned for a second visit! The first time, we ordered teh tarik, which unfortunately was rather bland, tasting more like milk than tea. However, the nasi lemak was flavorful with a small portion of sambal, but the sambal had a surprising level of heat. This was unexpectedly good, especially since the cold weather made us crave some warm and comforting food. We also ordered kaya butter brioche toast and Milo. The second time, we ordered Mamak Mee Goreng, coffee, Mocha bomb and curry meatballs. The Mamak Mee Goreng was good but lacked the expected spiciness. We searched for chilli sauce in the open space, but unfortunately, there was nowhere to be found. The drinks were mediocre. So overall, it felt like Malaysian fusion, where we did not expect an exact replica of the originals, we hope for a taste closer to 80% of the authentic level.

I’ve been to reunion a few times. I always forget they don’t have complimentary water. I got their drinks before but this time I just ate my food without water. I was a bit disappointed with the portion of my Nasi Lemak with Pork Belly seasonal dish. The rice took up most of the dish. For the price it seemed a small proportion. No one raved about the food as we ate either. I forgot to ask everyone’s opinions. The decoration was cute and almost like a hostel with all the Malaysian and USA flags. The staff was very kind and friendly.

Google
Super casual & authentic Malaysian food restaurant. Open seating & self serve napkin/ utensil station. Very friendly family and delicious food. We ordered two dishes and loved both. I believe the chef came out and checked on how we were enjoying our meal. We will be back to try more, especially the crepe cake. Thank you :)

Google
Overall, it's too pricey. The food is decent, but the portion size doesn't justify the cost. I ordered the Laksa with pork belly noodles, and while the pork belly was delicious, I still felt hungry after finishing the noodles. However, if you enjoy Malaysian food, it's worth trying at least once!

Great to have a Malaysian restaurant in Kirkland. My Nasi Lemak was good and would like to try other things. But it’s a little bit on the expensive side

Google
I finally got to try this Malaysian restaurant and it was pretty good. Since it was takeout, I couldn't let them know easily that there was a lot of sand and grit in the first clam I ate. The remainder were okay. The seafood was plentiful in my dish but the broth was a bit spicy for my tolerance. It was overall comforting and well-prepared, though! I may be back to try their less spicy options.

Google
Priced kind of high, but not much other choice if you want malaysian food. Cantonese speaking staff and two options of nasi lamak or lak sa but it's really all you need. Excellent execution on both with an amazing sambal that I wish they jarred and sold. Pulled tea is also awesome

Google
Price is much higher than we thought but taste is much better/correct than other Malaysian one that we have tried elsewhere in the greater Seattle area. There are not much options nearby but this one is pretty good. Much different than the one I tried in Taiwan but still pretty good. Will come back. If you are looking for hainanese chicken rice (only on Saturday), this place by far the best one I had in Seattle area. The curry chicken and roti is pretty good as well. Chicken is pretty juicy inside. Nice addition of sides of things.

Yelp
Went here many years ago and remembering that it was just ok, but I decided to give it another shot since a Malaysian-born friend of mine said that it's one of the better laksa places in the area. Unfortunately, I was still disappointed even after all these years because the broth was pretty watered down and not creamier like I'm used to. It could have also used more spice or even sambal on the side for more flavor but that was not offered. The roti was nice and flaky but no sauce or small bowl of curry was offered, making it really expensive for just $5/pc of plain roti. Price was extremely high especially with tips included (despite having to bus your own table AND no free water provided!). The restaurant would greatly benefit from having a free water dispenser for patrons given the saltiness/heavy flavors of the food. My dining companions were not happy having to spend extra on drinks they did not want - bottled water was $1/each while sodas were $2-4 each. It's a decent option if you can't find Malaysian food anywhere else but I doubt we'll be back until the prices are more reasonable with complimentary water offered.

Yelp
4.5 Stars I come from a Malaysian background, and I was so excited to find a Malaysian spot in my area--these are hard to come by! This spot is an unassuming gem; it is tucked away in a small strip mall and is casual and family-run. It offers traditional Malaysian dishes, such as laksa, nasi lemak, and rendang. The Set A ($25), which consisted of Nasi Lemak (coconut rice with egg and other sides) paired with Beef Rendang (spiced beef stew) and chicken, was wonderfully flavorful and beautifully presented. The group I went with commented that the price was a tad high; $28 for a rice plate (National Plate) seemed overpriced. It's an order-at-the-counter type of place, but the staff was able to assist my group of eight.

Yelp
Our family has Malaysian roots, so I brought them here excited to have a taste of home. Food was overall pretty good and flavorful, though portions were a little small compared to the price. Hainanese chicken rice was not as plump as expected. Unfortunately, the major let down was the service. They did not serve water at all (not even tap), which just doesn't feel right for a place with mostly salty and spicy food. Buying bottled water was the only option. You had to order at the counter and tip ahead of time, however it turned out that there was essentially no service. The employees mostly stayed in the back of the store on their phones, and we had to bus our own tables. Most of all, I was sad that the staff did not want to engage with us at all in any sort of chit chat. Most Malaysians are happy to share a bit about their hometowns at the very least, but we were left feeling very ignored and not welcomed at all - which is the opposite of the name of the restaurant. All in all, if you just want pretty good Malaysian food then this is a quick in and out. But I would rather eat at home with my family.

Yelp
- get noodles instead of rice dishes - I wanted to like this place since there is only one Malaysian restaurant close to my place, but it was mid. We came here on a Friday night, but the place was quite empty. Even though they welcomed us warmly, the place is a self-serve place. Other than needing to order at the counter, you must get your own utensils and everything. They also don't provide free water, which is super weird. They don't want people to stay there, I guess. My hubby got the Set B (Nasi lemak, roti canai, beef rendang), and I got the Biryani Ayam berempah, which is basically Malaysian Spiced Fried Chicken. The menu was written in a way that it took you a while to understand what is what.. and it was not very intuitive either. I strongly suggest changing it since it'll decrease their turnover rate.. The meal came after 10 minutes, and my husband's beef rendang was good. I didn't enjoy the rice, and the roti canai (Malaysian pancake) was not impressive either. It tastes like something I can make at home. They also didn't provide the curry sauce that usually comes with roti in Malaysian restaurants, which is depressing. The mixed greens on the plate have no dressing, which is odd as well. Our friend ordered the fried rice, and it was super bland. Overall, this place could have been more impressive to me. However, I saw other yelpers mentioning their handmade crepe cake. Maybe that's better than whatever we had here. They also only serve Hainanese chicken rice on Saturdays, which I want to try but I doubt I will go back again..

Yelp
I'm born and raised in Singapore, and my partner is Malaysian. This cozy family run restaurant reminds us of home. The parents are in the back cooking and their daughter is up front running the cashier. It feels more like a home cooked meal in someone's living room rather than an actual restaurant, so make sure to have the right expectations. In fact, this place is reminiscent of Kedai Makan before they sold their soul. When the owners heard my partner was from the same city they were from, they immediately offered him a secret item : Sarawak Laksa. My partner confirmed it was pretty authentic and almost similar to how his mom cooks it. I loved the Kaya brioche. I usually eat those for breakfast back home in Singapore, so being told it was a dessert made me laugh a little. The prata was great. The rendang was flavourful, but the beef could have been a little softer. I've read the other reviews. Yes, it's a little pricey for what it is. Yes, it's a little smaller portion than everywhere else. But it's quite literally a small family run operation, and they don't have scale. So hey - if you're looking to support local, start here.

Yelp
We were in the neighborhood and decided to check out this place. Parking was convenient and you could park in the front of restaurant or street parking. Kirkland library and PCC supermarket were nearby. We came in right after they opened in the evening and atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Staff were friendly and efficient. We ordered Coconut Pandan Latte, Kopi Tarik coffee, Nyonya Laksa Special (seafood + pork belly) and Combo set A at counter. The staff brought it to our table when it's ready. There's a table where customers could get utensils and plates. The dishes were delicious and we really enjoyed. Keep in mind that customers are to buss their own table. Great experience, we are looking forward to trying their brunch next time.

Yelp
the beef plate is DELICIOUS and the rotis here are out of this world, I don't even understand how they make it so flaky and heavenly. the restaurant is small and seems like most people do takeout, it's not very fancy or serious- food served on paper plates. pro tip they don't give you water so bring your own or pay up

Yelp
Cute little spot for authentic Malaysian food! The staff are friendly and we got to chat with the owner a bit which we enjoyed. Will definitely be coming back for more -The nyonya seafood laksa was absolutely delicious and I'm so happy to have found a good laksa place. The portion size was perfect and there was a good mix of seafood/other toppings. -The mee goreng was tasty as well but I definitely needed the side of sambal we ordered. -The teh tarik was so frothy and delicious The place has limited seating and a small parking lot in front. They don't have tap water which is strange - I wish they would have water available

Yelp
This is a mom and pop shop. The food is below average. The inside is so so I.e plastic chair and wood tables. You pay at the counter. They serve you in paper plates. You have to go get yourself plastic cutlery. They have just one veg option. They do not provide water. They have only bottles. Overall experiments is rubbish for the price.

Yelp
First time trying Malaysian food and they did not disappoint!! I got the noodle soup special and it was full of spices and flavor, with such a generous amount of toppings. They were so friendly and checked in with us how the food was. It is a bus your own table place.

Yelp
This is a quiet cozy neighborhood gem near Peter Kirk Park in downtown Kirkland. I just went there for the first time and was very impressed. The says are friendly with the welcoming warmth one gets from family businesses. The food was excellent and comes out relatively quickly. I ordered their duck noodle special and blown away by the depth of flavor of the broth.

Yelp
Amazing sambal, nasi lemak, crepe cakes! They are selling their own sambal now! I could drink that stuff lol I've been dining here since 2016 and the owners Robert & Grace are always warm & welcoming. They have parking spaces and I always find a spot. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
We loved the food here! Service was quick and everything was delicious (especially if you like spicy food). My daughter has a peanut allergy and the staff made sure there wasn't any peanuts in her dish, even though they normally serve it with peanuts. Highly recommend! :)

Yelp
We have been wanting to try Reunion for sometime now and finally made it. This is a family run restaurant, serving authentic Malaysian food. I got the House Pork Belly Fried Rice, and my husband got Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah. I loved the Pork Belly fried rice, the addition of quinoa added another texture to the fried rice that I loved. We loved the chicken in Nasi Lemak, and the chilli sambal that came with it.
google avatar

Nicole Q.

Yelp
This is a family run business that serves the most authentic Malaysian food! Every visit brings me right back to a hawker stall in Kuala Lumpur. You order at the counter then take a seat at any open table. You've got to try their nasi lemak! Their pork belly fried rice is a major hit. I always make sure to order extra roti - the buttery flaky goodness is what I imagine angels eat in heaven. My only gripe - they're always out of rice, which is a shame because their nasi lemak is a classic must-try dish! Also, they don't serve tap water so you'll have to buy bottled or another canned beverage.

Yelp
Tl;dr fun delicious Malaysian food Came here for a quick dinner and was surprised to find a Malaysian restaurant in downtown Kirkland. Was able to quickly order and was delicious!
google avatar

Carina L.

Yelp
Good authentic Malaysian food but the price is a little high. The noodle soup is creamy and coconut-flavored with seafood and pork belly. Wish there're more noodles.
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
Parking can be a little tight in the small lot just outside the restaurant, but if that's the only non-5-star element I can think of, so you know Renunion is going to be great! We've tried so many of the items on the menu, including the more difficult to find drinks and desserts. When you combine that with the family-owned vibe there, it's a really great experience. Not just for us, but for the kids as well. There's more than enough reviews about the food itself here in yelp, so read up for a few minutes and just swing by, maybe a little outside of the surge hours (for example, they closed around 2pm today and we swung by around 130pm - it was only 75% full then).
google avatar

Krystal L.

Yelp
This is definitely a hole in the wall in Kirkland and quite literally the only authentic Malaysian restaurant in this area. All of these dishes were so flavorful but a tad on the pricier side for the portion size! The roti and chicken was my favorite but I'm just addicted to roti! But seriously, they have flaky and butter roti here, it's a must get. Chicken was super soft and skin was crunchy. The noodles were good but there was a weird after taste I didn't love! My friends loved it though, it was gone instantly, the amount of toppings in the noodles was great. Skip the expensive crepe cake! I can't wait to try some of the other dishes.
google avatar

Timothy L.

Yelp
This was a pretty good spot. However the food was definitely on the pricier end for much you got as well as the quantity. I tried their national plate, which consisted of nasi lemak with beef rendang, roti, and Ayam. I personally loved all elements of the national plate with the beef rendang and roti being my favorite components. The spacing here is super tiny so be ready for that if you dine in. Again, the food is on the more expensive end but it's still good! Next time I want to try their laksa or mee goreng.

Yelp
This is the only Malaysian restaurant in the Kirkland area, and was well-rated - so I definitely wanted to try this place. Lot of families and kids. And many asians too - a good sign because this place must be authentic then. :) Ambience - 3/5 This is a small place with tables very close to each other. The open kitchen was right next by so - gave the street food vibes. Self-serve plates and utensils. I wish they serve served silverwares to cut the meat easily. Nasi Lemak with Malay Baked Chicken - 3/5 The chicken itself was well cooked/roasted - but this is no different than roasted chicken at an Italian place. so if you are in for trying new things, I wouldn't recommend this one. I knocked one more start because the plate was small (use and throw plates) and the rice, chicken and salad were packed closey that it was tough to eat. Malay Street Noodles - 4.5/5 This is the highlight dish. The street noodles had great flavors. Shrimp was well cooked. Ask for a high spice level - you will love it. Served steaming hot. "street" noodles - rightly named. Matcha bomb / Ice Milo - 3.5/5 Nothing wrong and nothing great. Just take it if you're craving craving and thirsty.

Yelp
Reunion Malaysian Cafe is SO good. I brought my out of town friends in and we ordered everything on the menu. The food was authentic and delicious. Service was very attentive and quick. I recommend trying Reunion as its definitely one of the best Malay spots in Washington! Sorry no photos! We devoured our meal with excitement before photos were taken.

Yelp
Nasi lemak chicken, good lord the chicken is cooked to perfection. Excellent flavor on the skin and through the meat. I wish I had the recipe, if you like Hainan chicken, this is next level. The paste with the rice and chicken is very flavorful, a must with every bite. You can buy the paste on its own, I believe there's anchovies in it, which I personally like. Not sure if I would get the laksa here again, a little bland in taste. I've made laksa at home from a packet it has more flavor so that's what I'm used to. If I were to review this place on the chicken and rice dish alone, it would be a 5/5. Restaurant has mom and pop family owned vibes. Unfortunately no free water so bring your own or buy their bottled water. Not a big deal and they're being honest to help keep prices down. Nice to have Malaysian food as an available option.
google avatar

Chi D.

Yelp
Came here for take out and was really excited about the menu, but ultimately didn't get the flavor experience we were hoping for; spices were kind of muted and seem like they were maybe adjusted for an American palate. Portion sizes were reasonable. We got a dry noodle dish and a noodle soup. I was kind of shocked that they gave us food in a very deformed take out container, like they had poured boiling soup in, which melted the plastic. And this was given to us to eat??? Tiramisu for dessert was fine.
google avatar

Chewie N.

Yelp
Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The place is small with maybe 5 or 6 tables. Having only tried Malaysian food once before, I'm not no expert and this food is good, in my, again, non-expert opinion. I tried the National plate. This plate wasn't as spicy nor fatty as the first time I tried it, but the chicken was very juicy and delicious. I love the egg. It's a lot of food and flavors- easily shareable. I'd recommend getting one plate and one laksa and share with a couple of friends. Everyone that works there is very nice. Definitely check 'em out!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Cute little Malaysian restaurant in Kirkland! When I dined here, the small parking lot was full but I was able to find street parking on the next block. You order and pay at the counter here, and then they bring your food to your table pretty quickly, about 5-10 minutes We got the lobster laksa, mee goreng, and the durian crepe cake. All were so delicious! I was hesitant about the durian crepe cake but it ended up being delicious. One less star because the prices were a bit high for food that is ordered at the counter and served on/with one time use dishes and silverware.
google avatar

Kirstin H.

Yelp
I finally managed to pay this place a visit after having bookmarked them for months! I'm pleased to report the food is decently authentic with the only variations making things inauthentic being limited to the specific types of ingredients used in certain dishes that were modified, probably due to availability issues in the US. For example, using rice vermicelli (aka dried mee siam noodles) instead of fresh laksa noodles, or using clams instead of blood cockles, etc. Despite this, the overall dishes still hit the spot, and the teh tarik was frothy and properly "pulled" as the name implies. I also appreciated the staff coming over to check on us, proactively bringing us a bigger spoon for the laksa, and even offering to take our photo. Now I know where to come when missing a taste of home!

Yelp
This place had me reminiscing HARD about the flavors and COST of Malaysian food. The docking of the one star is really around the price. All I have to say here is that money in America just can't get you the same amount of food as you would get in Asia... The amount paid for this meal would have been more than enough to provide a full on feast in Malaysia... Anyways, to the environment. I did enjoy their attempt at recreating a "hawker" style atmosphere. Although DEFINITELY much cleaner than any hawker stall I have been to in Malaysia, the seating situation and the utensil setup definitely reminded me of Malaysia. And the food. Although it definitely was not, quantity wise, as much as we would have gotten in Malaysia, the food was pretty decent. We got their Mee Goreng, Nyonya Seafood Laksa, and National Plate (basically Nasi Lemak with rendang, ayam and roti canai). We split this across four people, and I would say that it was a decent amount of food. I really enjoyed their Mee Goreng. It could have been spicier but as they are trying to cater to Westerners as well, I can understand why they did not make it more spicy. The ayam in the Nasi Lemak was also fairly good. The beef that they used for the rendang was slightly too chewy. Their Laksa portion was definitely a little small, but they did provide ample toppings to compensate. This meal was a good reminder of one of my favorite cuisines, and cheaper than the $1000+ cost for a plane ticket to Malaysia.
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
What a great spot to get Malaysian food! I really liked their roti and their chicken! The owners are very friendly. I would say their plates are pretty shareable! I'd come back!
google avatar

Elisa N.

Yelp
Never had malaysian food before but my boss had brought me here since this was one of her favourite places! It was super yummy but i'd say a little salty on their noodles. It is a cute place and easy service!
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
An authentic Malaysian experience that will convince you that Malaysians don't speak English, in the best way possible. The curry is rich, creamy and brimming with flavor. The peanuts are crunchy, fragrant and perfectly salted. The rice pairs with the anchovies beautifully; like romcoms and 90s Sandra bullock. If you're going to stop by this place, let me know, because I'm down for the pandan cakes and the hodge podge decor that is so legitimately south east Asian.
google avatar

Melodie D.

Yelp
Similarly to a recent review left on their Yelp page, I'm giving a four star review because of the price of our meal. Malaysian food in Malaysia is really cheap. Now, I understand it's unreasonable to expect those kinds of under $10/meal prices in the US now with inflation rates being so high and cost-of-living also being much higher, but I just can't let go of the fact that this kind of cuisine is just sooo much cheaper elsewhere in the world. *crying emoji* I really enjoyed their rendang's flavor, but the beef was indeed, not as tender as I would've liked. The laksa also, was well seasoned, but the size made it difficult for the four of us, who ordered family-style, to get a sufficient sample of the dish. I would not recommend the roti - it was really really greasy and literally left an oily spot when you lifted it off the paper plate. If you're pining away for Malaysian food, this is a sufficient substitute, but of course, can't compare to a meal of rendang + roti + laksa eaten in the sweltering hot humidity of Malaysia..

Yelp
Summary: good presentation. Taste lacks depth. Uses many disposable plates and utensils even for dining in. No tap water. Expensive for the portion size. Service is just okay. I first tried The Reunion when they first opened, and for some reasons I couldn't remember how it was. After trying it for the second time: I know why. It was pretty forgettable. The food: Laksa: the broth was salty but somehow it lacks depth. The toppings were delicious and plenty. However, I didn't care for the spinach. Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang: lots of spice from the sambal, but Idk why the toppings on rice tastes bland minus the heat even with the dried fish. The rendang beef is soooo dry despite being in a stew. Kaya butter toast: the kaya jam is sweet but has no pandan fragrance even though it's green. The bread is an interesting choice. I only had this with white bread before. Service: I was surprised to see many disposable plates and utensils even for dining in customers. Coupled with the fact that the restaurant offers no tap water for drinking, I thought oh maybe they don't have a running water and/or dishwasher. But the laksa bowl was served in an actual bowl, so Idk. It just seems wasteful to use paper plates and bowls for everything. No one checked on us. It wasn't busy, but the owners were busy chatting with other customers. It would have been nice if someone asked if we needed anything. No drinking water is so strange. The dishes are pretty salty, so either you have to order a drink or you stay thirsty.

Yelp
Unique and wonderful dishes. We order the Nasi Lemak chicken, the seafood laksa and the new goreng. All are sooo good. Family run - what more can you hope for.

Paul L.

Yelp
I was visiting the area and came across this Malaysian restaurant. I've been to Malaysia and love it! This place has authentic and very delicious food down to the dried fish condiment. The quantity is good and so is the roti canai. It is exactly how I like it. The only thing that has me confused is the tipping deal. You go up and order the food and later you see a sign for you to bus your table. Not only that, there is a specific way to do it. I'm all for cleaning up after myself but please remind me why I'm tipping. Certainly it can't be to cook my food. I could've chosen not to tip but didn't realize this until sitting down. I need to remember this for everywhere I go. Tipping is for services above and beyond ordering.

Betty L.

Yelp
I ordered the seafood laksa. It was wonderful!! True Malaysian flavors. It reminded me of meals I had in Singapore. Please come and support this small business. You won't regret it
google avatar

Najin K.

Yelp
The laksa was good and it came with two types of noodles, the prices were what you expect from Kirkland. I wouldn't recommend the chicken and rice because what you don't see is it's on a rack of ribs and very boney it was a lot of work just to eat it. But if you don't mind then the flavor is good!
google avatar

Kailey X.

Yelp
Finally! Besides Malay Satay hut here's another Malaysian cuisine restaurant owned by Malaysians, where the chef's Malaysian too! I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped by here for a weekday lunch and noticed many other Malaysian patrons in this store too. The owners are friendly, and it's like being transported back to a slice of Malaysian hospitality. The price point is slightly higher than what I'm used to for Malaysian food, but reasonable for Kirkland/Seattle prices. They also sell Malaysian spice packets at the front if you'd like to make your own laksa or curry at home! I've only had the nyonya seafood laksa, which tastes pretty much like curry laksa, but with PNW seafood. It was delicious, and a solid choice! I'd recommend this place over Kedai Makan, which while pretty good - isn't authentically Malaysian and feels like it's selling a tourist's expectation of what Malaysian cuisine is, vs this location.

Yelp
Enjoyed our meal ! Came for a small bday celebration dinner and was greeted and served quite quickly . It wasn't busy when we went there but the food options for vegetarians is not accompanied other than tofu which you have to ask for the option . I hope they offer more variety In future . The food was decent and service was good .

Yelp
I got everything to-go. Below are ratings out of 5 by dish: 3.5* - NL Nasi Lemak Chicken Chicken was extremely tender, but also pretty salty. I would prefer that over bland tbh, but I know it may deter some. The rice was cooked perfectly, boiled egg was well done. Would prefer to have more sambal. Overall not bad. 4* Ny Laksa Special The presentation was amazing. The curry was on the milder side, but I think that's inline with most SE Asian restaurants in the US. Plenty of shrimps and clams. All around good. 3* Roti Canai Beef Rendang The roti was the best part of the dish. Very crispy, but also oily. The rendang was unevenly way too salty in some spots. The meat was tender and the spices were nice. The Nasi Lemak and Rendang came with prawn crackers, but they were in the same container as their respective dishes. The hot steam from the food made the crackers lose their crisp. A bit of a shame. I understand they wanted to present each dish as its own (very great take-out presentation btw), but priority should be to preserve the quality of the food to be as close to dining in as possible. I think this is the most difficult ratings I had to make. I 100% would have everything again any day of the week, but the inconsistency of each component within the dishes made me conflicted - highs are great, lows are lows. The food is also more home cooked quality. Not a bad thing (and may be a charm in fact), but some may expect more for the price-to-portion or price-to-quality ratio. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt to see them do better, as there aren't as many Malay restaurants in the area compared to Thai, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. The family was also very nice when I picked up my order, which counts for a lot if dining in. Teetering around 3.25* if I have to be completely honest. Giving a 4* overall because I think all the things can be easily fixed.

Yelp
Wow! Let's just get to the point - this is really great Malaysian food just a hop skip and jump away from downtown Seattle. I grew up on laksa, nasi lemak and roti canai and I've made it a mission to find Malaysian/Singaporean food wherever I go. Surprisingly, there aren't many options here in King County but boy I'm glad we found Reunion. Located in Kirkland, this restaurant occupies a tiny space with a few tables for dine in with a direct view of the kitchen. Walk in and the fragrance of spices envelope you prompting you to instantly salivate. It's a family run business that has gained popularity rather quickly. Beef rendang, chicken nasi lemak and the laksa (all of them!) are favorites. Even though we are just 2 people, I typically order enough for 10 people because this food is great as leftovers. Even as you're waiting to pick up your order, you can see the to-go orders pile up. Not infrequently, they sell out of some dishes when it's near closing so if you intend on having Reunion make sure you plan ahead. You can order and dine in, order to-go online or you can have it delivered through UberEats.

Yelp
Food was delicous, fast, and the portions were nice. The milk tea was also tasty! Would come back for sure.

Yelp
This small Malaysian spot serves up some delicious staples. The seafood laksa was fantastic. It had a mild spice that was warming and delicious. It contained two strips of pork belly, a couple clams, lots of noodles, two fish balls, and a few shrimp. This was really good and perfect for a rainy PNW day. Service was super fast and the staff was friendly. No water, and sodas were kind of expensive, but the food was great. Parking is limited, but no worries the library garage is across the seat. Would highly recommend and will be back.

Yelp
As much as I want to love this place to support small business, the food is not good. It does not represent Malaysian food. Everything was either bland or way too salty. The kaya toast is just burger bun with kaya spread on it??? When I first opened it I thought it was a joke. I got two nasi lemak (chicken and rendang). The rendang tasted very salty like the instant bumbu spices I've used at home (bamboe/munik). I was expecting myself to be blown away but to find it less tasty than my own cooking. The chicken was ok. Overall the food lacks depth. I wonder if they use instant spices like I do at home but even then you can make it good by tinkering with it, maybe add a lil palm sugar/lemongrass/coconut milk/anything that adds flavour to the cooking! The nasi lemak tastes like regular nasi with a lil coconut fragrance. The only thing I was able to taste was how much salt they put in the rendang. It's not bad for people who has never had Southeast Asian food but it's very disappointing for people like me who's searching for THAT taste of home.

Yelp
The restaurant is super cute and unique. I love their Laksa, I believe it's the most authentic Laksa I've tried in Seattle. However, I don't recommend their Roti + curry or Milo/kopi. Their curry is similar to any store brought curry package and their milo doesn't taste like the authentic milo powder + condensed milk that you'll usually get in Malaysia/Singapore. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a cute brunch or dinner place with good laksa noodles!

Yelp
SO good! Can't believe we just stumbled on this place. We got the pork fried rice and mee goreng noodles. Delicious :) Feels like you're getting a home cooked meal.

Yelp
We finally got to try reunion recently. We usually go to Kirkland on Tuesdays, but that's the day they close every week. Last week we went on a Friday, and we liked what we ordered. They don't offer a big menu, but I think they do very very well on the dishes they have. I had the pork belly fried rice and husband had the national plate. The national plate is a bit pricy, but you do get a lot of food and variety. The fried rice was super tasty, I was impressed. The owner told us the hainan chicken rice is only offer on Saturday and usually sell out quickly. Next time we have to plan for a Saturday visit!

Yelp
Food was good but a little too spicy for my taste. I'm Filipino and thought there would be some resemblance, but that was not the case. The food was drier, saltier, and spicier than Filipino food. The service was what I'd expect from a Southeast Asia restaurant.
