Hands down one of the two best bars, with the best bartenders, in New Orleans - and therefore the world. Super accessible/friendly business run by master mixologist Chris McMillian (I think Imbibe Magazine called him one of the top 25 cocktail personalities of the past CENTURY - yes, Century) and his equally talented wife Laura. Voted best hamburger in New Orleans in a contest by the local paper. The cocktail menu is extensive, elegant and a master class in cocktail history. Take the 3 hour hands on cocktail class if you can - it's the first gift I bought my 21 year old twins and they learned so much. Chris has taught many of the best bartenders in town, and he is a walking history book. Beautiful spot on one of the most vibrant blocks in Mid-City. Worth the uber ride - trust me!

Great burger but horrible service. I was just here enjoying an early day and craving a burger. I hear these were the #1 burgers in the city and Slap Burger is closed. I go in and order p quickly. It’s not 5 yet so the bar is packed but it’s slow otherwise. I order my burger and a Pimm’s, and I have a book with me ready to settle in. They immediately forget my Pimm’s and give it to someone already seated. I sit thinking it maybe comes when my drink comes. It takes like 10-15 minutes nothing crazy. During those 10-15 minutes one asks how I’m doing for me to ask about my Pimm’s not a single quick check. Another person brings out a whole gazpacho to explain the special of the day, multiple drinks are given, but no check ins. Even worse I’m making eye contact but nope no questions to me, about me, for me. When she brings my burger, I ask for my Pimm’s. Everyone kinda scrambles and apologizes and makes it, and by then I decide I’m not going to stay long. The burger is fine it’s not super flavorful and more or less saved by the onions and cheese. I’m quickly COATED in grease from the burger just sopping across my hands and plate. The redhead bartender is checking in and managing her flow well. But I’m eating even faster to save myself from the greasy mess to get the check. The check is full price no discount for the nuisance and lack of care, meanwhile someone got a whole free drink at the expense of my patience. Whoever recommended this place was either white or easily recognizable. For $40 bucks for a simple burger with the worst service I’ve had in a long time I’ll definitely never be back.

Burger was good but not worth it for the service received. Most of the staff except the bartender seemed unhappy to have customers despite it not being that busy. Watched a customer leave before eating because of some conflict with a staff member.

This is more of a bar with limited items from their food menu. Also if you request a certain whisky they do not inform the customer they do have it and instead they substitute it for something else they have without telling you. This was unacceptable. Edit - Revel reached out to me to email my specific concerns. I responded and high praise to Revel for reaching out. This shows they care about the quality of mixed drinks.

The burger and fries was amazing! I had been craving just a quality restaurant, not smash style or bar burger, at a reasonable price and it was everything I was hoping for and more. The burger was juicy, the bun was fresh and not dry, the fries were perfect. I ordered to go, so I imagine everything is even better fresh at the restaurant. They were super friendly and nice when I picked up and everything was packed up really nice, not just thrown together in the box. Came with a side of ketchup and really delicious lemon aioli that was so good on the fries. Definitely plan to come back and eat in. Thank you!

Nationally-famous mixologist Chris McMillian and his wife, Laura, have set up one of the best places for cocktails in the city. As you would expect, the cocktails come with stories...providing a little history for the refined (yet, approachable) list of drinks that tilt towards historical but also provide some new and bold approaches. It's that rare "what if your neighborhood just happened to have one of the greatest cocktail masters in the US mixing drinks in a laid back atmosphere with, oh yeah, the best burger in town" experiences. Yup, I'd live there too. Chris and Laura are incredibly hospitable and the rest of the staff follows suit (shout out to Ivy who made one of my favorite cocktails of the entire trip). Do yourself a favor and take the short uber ride from the Quarter and thoroughly enjoy this gem.

I recently tried the no.1 burger in the city and while I had high hopes, the meal unfortunately fell short due to temperature issues. My burger arrived warm, not hot, which significantly impacted the overall flavor and enjoyment. Even more disappointing were the fries, which tasted reheated and were lukewarm at best. They lacked the crispness you expect from freshly cooked fries. I understand that the restaurant was busy, and it seemed like many people ordered around the same time. We did have a considerable wait time of about an hour for our burgers, which is understandable given the circumstances. I appreciate our server's friendly and attentive service throughout the wait; they did their best to keep us updated and were very pleasant. However, the temperature of the food is a crucial aspect of any dining experience. While I appreciate the server's efforts and understand the potential for delays during peak times, serving warm burgers and reheated fries is a significant drawback. I hope they can address these temperature control issues to ensure a better dining experience for future customers.

Best hamburger in the whole of New Orleans? I'm not sure I agree with "best," as there are many contenders and styles. This one is up there, though. To be really picky about it, I prefer a seeded bun, I like blue as a cheese option, and overall the burger is a little unwieldy and is best approached with the big steak knife provided with your meal. To get back to the superlatives: the meat is a blend of brisket this and prime that, not just a grind of random cow parts, details that show up as excellence in both flavor and texture. Everything on the burger is fresh. The bun is fresh and pretty robust even with all the burger and toppings included. So what no seeds? It's an excellent burger that deserved its award (from nola.com, if you're wondering). The "pommes frites" are really more American style fries in that they're thicker and denser than what's on a typical pomme frites plate in France, but they're not quite steak fries, either. We're not in France, so no points off. Fries come out hot and fresh with a delicious aioli that reminded us of Jules telling Vincent Vega about the fries in Holland. (If you're like Jules and can't imagine that, they also have ketchup. ) The fries themselves are cooked in beef tallow, soon to be recommended by the HHS as a replacement for "evil" seed oils. That goes against what most cardiologists would tell you, but did they win the election? After all, you didn't come here for an ECG. Enjoy these fries. They're a real throwback to the old days when beef tallow frying was commonplace (and life expectancy was 38 years). Then, be sure to fast and work out. Tomorrow. The more expensive steak is close to perfect, a strip cooked exactly to order with a strong crust of salt and pepper. Steak comes with the same fries as the burger, Don't pass on the cocktails, as that what's on the big menu; the one page food menu seems modest by comparison. I can vouch for the New Orleans is Drowning, a terrible name but a delicious variant something like a Sazerac. The Sazerac itself is also worthwhile. The drinks here were comparable to what I've had at Cure, and I that's about as big a cocktail compliment as I can give. Atmosphere here is convivial and the service is attentive and prompt. We didn't sit at the bar, but that looked even more convivial (not sure how prompt, and do expect to wait a bit for your drink. These things are "crafted"--a word that's horribly overused in the industry but applies here.

I do not say this lightly when I say this is the best cocktail bar in the city. Not only is the drink menu expansive, but you can't go wrong with whatever you pick. Not only are the menu drinks amazing, but any cocktail you're in the mood for will be done well and couldn't get it better anywhere else. Now on top of all that they're making amazing hamburgers. It's juicy, flavorful, they mix their own burger meat to get the perfect balance. And from what they've told me they are continuing to kinda add items to the menu. I had the burger, deviled eggs, and a wedge salad. You can never go wrong with a wedge and this one proves it. Besides the burger I was surprised just how good the deviled eggs were. Delicious. Love coming here to try new drinks the atmosphere is dark and comfortable. Now I come here for drinks and food.

Y'all have fries cooked in beef tallow served with an aioli with canola oil in it?! lol why, wtf. Seed oils are terrible.

We had heard about the burger and decided to give it a try. We were both pleased. High quality meat and perfectly prepared. Good drinks as well.. But we knew that going in. Will definitely be back there

The cocktails were amazing, service great , very knowledgeable mixologist a great find, food was great although being vegan not much for me to eat but my companions loved the food. Will return very soon when we go back to New Orleans.

We came because the burger just won best in New Orleans. Let's start with the cocktails! They were delicious. They were on the high side...between $12-14. The cocktail menu is large and has lots of options. We ordered the burger and frites which was $18. The burger was good but I can't say best in New Orleans. The server was super friendly but it does take a little while to get cocktails. The place is very cute. I would come back for their cocktails. Especially because they have a special cocktail at a discount each day for happy hour.

What a nice evening. Was out after 9 looking for a bite and a drink and options aren't great so we tried a new spot. Revel was a wonderful surprise. Absolutely amazing burger!!! And cocktail menu was well thought out and the drinks were well made. We'll be back. This spot is going to be a regular

This place is the bomb. It is old New Orleans type of place. We got the salmon dip which was sooooo good. Perfect actually because it was creamy with the seafood aroma at the back of your throat after you swallow. We all got burger with the only difference being the cheese. They were all cooked perfectly. They are put on a Brioche bun with aioli,lettuce and tomato and red onion. The fries are ok but the burger has star power. It is perfectly located on Carrollton right off canal so perfect for tourist to take the street car. I can't end this review without bragging on the bar tender. Can't remember his name but excellent crafting cocktails. So perfect place to stop and have a cocktail and small plate. I am a local and have lived in NOLA most of my life and this place is a 15 out of 10 in all 3 categories.

I'm so happy that Revel is back! Pre-pandemic it was our go to near the house with outdoor seating so we could bring our pup. When I heard they finally reopened we went without the dog so we could be seated inside. It was great to see Chris and Laura behind the bar and one of our old favorite bartenders from there made a special appearance. Until they're staffed up they're only offering burgers and fries, but they're a delicious blend and super juicy. Don't skip the aioli! As with most of our trips there when we're seated at the bar, we'll order a few cocktails off the menu and then let them lead us on a cocktail journey based off our likes and dislikes. I went on a tequila journey that I was sure I would instantly despise myself for in the morning but was chipper as I can be for a Sunday morning. The cocktails aren't cheap, but you're getting what you paid for and more in the quality of all the ingredients and the company you'll have.

I am from the Dallas area. I first discovered Revel with some friends in early January 2020. We wandered from dinner and were looking for a place to have a drink. Walked up to the doors as Chris and Laura were heading out. We had five of us, and we wanted to spend money, so they were gracious enough to invite us in. Four hours later, every single one of us vowed to return at any of our next opportunity. Chris educated us and told excellent stories while Laura assisted or hosted, depending on the moment. The cocktails were exquisite. Many times they would have us tell them what we wanted (sour, sweet, spicy, chocolate, boozy, type of liquor) and they would create something specifically for that person. The next day was our last day in NOLA, so we returned to have lunch and drink some more. This was a little different since we didn't have the place to ourselves, but everyone at the bar was adept at social interaction, so it ended up feeling like a bunch of regulars hanging out. Another A+ experience. And the food was delicious. Then the COVID-19 pandemic happened. I was certain it would kill Revel. I was so certain, that I was heartbroken about it. I am happy to say, Chris and Laura came through that (practically) unscathed and are still going strong today! Last night, June 30, 2023, I returned. Welp. Amazing again. I brought a different buddy there this time, and we had an excellent experience. He ordered the burger, which was perfectly prepared and I ordered the steak frites, which were also perfectly prepared. The house-made chimichurri was on point. And of course the cocktails were to die for. Chris is a master bartender in every sense of the role. Laura executes his vision flawlessly. I want this restaurant & bar to thrive. It's hard being a small business. It's harder being a small 2- or 3-person operation. It's hard to find the time to focus on marketing and promotions to get the word out when the toilets need cleaning and the dishes need washing after they close. So I am begging you, if you're reading this, please please go experience this place. Sit at the bar. Interact and ask them to wow you with their cocktail expertise. Tell your friends. Write positive reviews. Bring your friends. I implore you. It is obvious that Chris and Laura care deeply about creating an experience for their patrons that is second-to-none. I'd hate to see that not be rewarded with the prosperity they so deserve. I'll be back. Hope I have to make a reservation.

My friend and I came to Revel Cafe and Bar for Happy Hour after work. We had looked at the Happy Hour specials and it felt like a great place to check out. It turns out that the bar recently reopened and the Happy Hour and Food were on pause. Luckily I had a pretty big lunch so I wasn't super disappointed about the food. We sat at the bar where the owner served us. She was very passionate about their menu of drinks where each page was a different category. The menu hadn't been updated yet so it still had the food and all drinks were $3 more. I don't drink a lot of cocktails, so the owner asked me what kind of tastes do I like and she made me two very good beverages! Her policy was honesty, so if you didn't like the drink you had to let her know so she can make you something new. The first one was "She Loves It" and I couldn't tell you what it included. She took her time making it and the overall drink was very good! The second one we went with the same theme and this one had blackberries. Overall this is a great place to learn about mixed cocktails and to try something new! Drinks: Top notch! The owner puts a lot of time and thought into the drinks that she mixes. Happy Hour: Currently on pause. Service: Very good- We were the only ones there for a little bit so we got a lot of great service. Parking: Street Parking. Since this is on Carrolton, finding a parking spot can be a little tougher, but they are available. Pets: There is outdoor seating so I believe you can have your pets outside. Outside Seating: Yes

First time. We sat at the bar. Ivy was great and attentive. We enjoyed of number of eclectic and traditional drinks. All great. We decided to eat as well and everything was great. Will be back.

Delicious cheeseburger -- Best quality meat, choice of cheese -- I chose Gouda -- yum!! Leafy lettuce, tomato. pickles-- I opted for no onions. The fries are pure pleasure-- Hand cut -- with aioli -- indescribable!! Highly recommend!!

Popped in here for a drink prior to our dinner next door at Zasu. We loved it! The ambiance and decor is lovely. The drinks are incredibly well crafted. The owner is lovely as well! This is truly a family owned and run business. We loved chatting with them. I tend to judge places by how well kept the restrooms are - they didn't let me down here. Super clean and well maintained. We didn't grab food, but the people sitting next to us at the bar had the most amazing looking burger. We were only in town for work, but if I was local this would be my regular spot! Highly recommend!

This place is the real deal for craft cocktails. Burgers are awesome! We love this place in our neighborhood.

A revision to our previous post. We found out that the service problems were due to emergency health issues with the staff. We revisited the cafe and were wonderfully impressed. The innovative craft cocktails and burgers were amazing. The owners, Chris and Laura, were so gracious and so passionate about their offers. The cafe and bar is clearly a community establishment where visitors are known by name creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We will definitely return and encourage others to experience this genuine neighborhood gem.

Amazing bartenders with endless knowledge about the history of cocktails serving up great drinks and good vibes. We also had the burger which pairs great with the drinks.

The owner Laura is worth the visit alone! We stepped in to dodge the rain, and Laura offered us sample drinks. We talked about everything and she makes a mean Mint Julep (per my friend) and a Pimm's cup. Listen here, she said, "you like Bounce?" Umm yes of course we do! BOOM! She was the DJ. The therapist and the bartender. $7.50 for a drink seems way too low but that's it. We didn't want to leave.

A friend brought me to this bar last Friday afternoon with great conviction that "you will love it!" He was so right as I was completely charmed by the owners, Chris and Laurie, who take exceptional care of their customers and take craft cocktail making to their own impeccable level. Chris is a font of New Orleans cocktail history, making my friends Ramos Gin Fizz with exceptional care to the exact recipe and manner that Ramos himself did. We received a whole history lesson and show with each drink. These people truly craft a cocktail, taking great care with each ingredient, hand smashing the ice in a special bag with a wooden mallet (that I believe I need in my life). The bar itself is an old mahogany piece claimed from a former strip club in Tennessee I think he said as I was admiring the brass elephants that held up the edge of the bar in the most charming functional art manner. Everything about this place has been thought out and done with intention and the whole family chips in to keep the place purring. We tried a happy hour fish taco and fresh roasted nuts which were both good and inexpensive. I started with a French 75 which was done to simple perfection, followed by numerous rounds of the happy hour special cocktail of the day which was an old fashioned. Again, each cocktail was crafted with intentional ingredients down to the high end maraschino cherry like none I've ever had. If you are looking for a unique experience, a truly authentic southern cocktail or just a fun place to hang out with friends, I promise that Revel will not disappoint!

The best drinks in town! Love how family-owned it is and the husband cooking in the back while wife works the bar (very very skilled and knowledgeable bartender). Just felt happy being in their company. Great place to sit up at the bar

Just had dinner and drinks at Revel and am so wowed! The food, the service, the drinks - everything was wonderful! Our waiter was fun, sweet, super attentive, and had complete knowledge of all aspects of the menu. I went with two small plates rather than a larger entree and wasn't disappointed. I had the deep fried Brussels sprouts and the oysters with wasabi pearls and fries. Both were delicious and the portion sizes were generous. I was in the mood for something lightly sweet and refreshing, so I went with one of their house cocktails, the Sheilavsit. It was perfect. I was with one of my besties and a couple of other ladies that I didn't know very well, so I stuck with one cocktail. My friend and I would have each had seconds if it had just been the two of us. She had a margarita and was equally impressed. Oh, and she ordered the crawfish grilled cheese and said it was a winner. Casual vibe, good for a later evening meal or just cocktails. I think this will make a fine date night hang out for me and my hubs This is definitely one to add to my rotation.

Phenomenal! Best cocktails in ages...and the couple that owns the place are as down to earth, capable, charming and talented as one could hope. We ordered fries and were blown away by how good they were. They aren't with a large staff at the moment, but, Bar service is awesome. It's a neighborhood bar with award worthy dedication.

BEST COCKTAILS IN THE CITY. Hands down. And Laura and Chris take passion in their craft and their guests. The space is lovely and you can't go wrong ordering a "55th degree" - but you might need an Uber/Lyft home!

It was so much fun to sit in this local bar and chat with the owner. She makes the best whiskey sours and zasaracs in town. The food there is good also. It's a great local low key place if you just want to hang out and visit with locals. Take the time to pull on the door. Sometimes it looks like they're not open.

My partner and I had the worst dining experience we've ever had in New Orleans (which is saying a lot). The food was mediocre and the ambiance was decent but sadly was the best part of the experience. Our server talked about slaughtered animals while we tried to order our burger and completely ruined both of our appetites. She came back to our table with our burgers with ketchup on only my plate, my partner asked for ketchup as well and she took the ketchup off of my plate to give to her... after this exchange she explained that she's running the bar so if we need anything just come up and let her know which was fine, we also put in a drink order with her before she left to the bar. After finishing our meals and still somehow not receiving the drink i decided to go up and ask for it to go, she cut me off saying this drink is better served in house so i said i'd talk to my partner and see if we wanted to just cancel the drink and when i came back to the bar she was already pouring out the drink. I eventually just pleaded to cancel and get the bill. Never cared enough to write a negative review in my life but this was a dreadful experience and i made a yelp account just to write this. Definitely not the best burger in new orleans, if you're looking for that try company burger! 10 times as good and 100 times less weird staff.

Wonderful stop! Cocktails were amazing, and burger elevated quite a bit. Enjoyed the owner telling us about the history of the mahogany bar. Good drinks, food, atmosphere and family run. What's not to like?

We found the Revel late and hungry after a day of travel. Opened the door and asked it they were still open and cooking. Little did we know we were speaking to the owner. She invited us in fed us and shared information about her city. Great food, great atmosphere and amazing drinks. Have zazarac you won't be disappointed!

Great bar for great drinks. Managed by a wonderful couple who gladly shared the history of the drinks and have created a dynamite menu!

This place was terrible. I'm giving it 2 stars cause the Brussels sprouts were good. We came for the coolinary menu which looked pretty awesome and everything was meh at best. Our drinks took forever to come out. The guac the dog thing was good, but it's just fried avocado so thank god they didn't get that wrong! The salad was ok, the crab bucatini tasted like tuna fish casserole and the ribeye steak looked like it was from Piccadilly. Our waitress to top it off never smiled, it was like a burden that she was waiting on people and at the end of the night when we said we didn't want anymore dessert, she didn't come back for like 20 minute and I had to flag her down to ask for the check, and she was super confused as to why we would want that? Which then took another 15 minutes. Don't go here. I'll never go back. So sad. I was looking forward to it!

Came here on my birthday trip with friends and were warmly greeted the moment we walked in. The owner at the bar was so kind and took great pride in her wonderful restaurant. We had the cheesy boudin balls and the creole crawfish corn dog which were yummy and then had a crawfish grilled cheese. My heartburn hated me but everything else thanked me. Had some classic cocktails which were delicious and just loved the overall vibe there. Will definitely be back again once I visit that glorious city in the future!

This is my new favorite locally owned bar. The food, service and drinks were all phenomenal. It's hard to find places that have the owner still working behind the bar but also being so personable. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar and enjoyed quite a few drinks but the food was incredible! We started with the "Guacdog" which was deep fried avocado. The crispy crunch exterior with the soft inside was a great combination. We also ordered the black garlic butter fries with lemon aioli that was incredible as well. My girlfriend and I then split the grilled cheese with crawfish and peanut butter burger. That was the hands down best grilled cheese I've had. The Crawfish were huge inside this sandwich! The peanut butter burger is now one of my favorites. The peanut butter along side the Thai sweet and chili sauce mixed so well with the pickled vegetables. The highlight if the evening was enjoying the drinks the owner was making. He had one of his pupils in town from Biloxi making drinks that were the best drinks I've had in the longest. The spicy jalepeno margarita was simply made but executed to perfection. Overall, this will be your new favorite place to experience.

There's a special place in my heart for small local bars where the owners are front and center of the operation. Chris and his wife not only make your drinks, they are like cocktail historians. Chris has so much knowledge and puts so much passion and technique into every drink. I had so many drinks and after a while I just started to let him decide what I was drinking. Never disappointed. Sit at the bar. It's a very intimate experience. Order food. It's a wild ride for your mouth. For starters we ordered the Guac Dawg (which really is fried avocado but very tasty) and the black garlic fries. The fries are seasoned perfectly and the lemon aioli was . We then ordered the crawfish grilled cheese and peanut butter burger. This experience taught me that crawfish and grilled cheese belong together. HUGE pieces of crawfish throughout and the celery added a nice crunch. The peanut butter burger was a masterpiece in itself. I've had peanut butter burgers before and they're generally subpar. Revel's has what reminds me of the peanut sauce served with chicken satay. We ordered the burger medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming to this bar more often, especially for a late night bite!

Has Revel Closed? We were just by there yesterday and there were no signs of life. Business hours on Yelp, Facebook, and their webpage all say they should have been open. I'm leaving my 5 star review because I loved the place. I'm sad to see it possibly gone.

Ordered Revel through UberEats. The minute I read about the Crispy Chicken Breast with Honey Hot Sauce on a Brioche Bun Sandwich, I knew I had to have it! Also ordered the Slow-Smoked Pork Sandwich and the House Nachos. Everything was delicious. Presentation left a lot to be desired. Of course, I understand that delivery will be different than dining in. Still, the sandwiches being put into tiny containers where you can barely dig your fingers in to pick it up? That's a bit ridiculous. (And this is coming from a guy with "artist hands" - thanks for the need for therapy, Dad!) Would definitely order from here again. But, maybe work on getting more appropriately-sized containers.

Ordered crawfish grilled cheese and shrimp caesar salad via UberEats. First, I've never had crawfish in grilled cheese, the addition of crawfish in my beloved grilled cheese was on point! A piece of crawfish in every bite. Bread buttered and toasted perfectly! Shrimp Caesar salad was good also the shrimp were well seasoned, and medium size. Small portions size. I would have liked a green salad as an option. We didn't receive plastic utensils or napkins with our order. I've been here once before for drinks, awesome bartenders and cool atmosphere, limited street parking. I had to park at the bank next door. I'd suggest taking an Uber and ordering more cocktails next time.

This is a truly world class bar that is making awesome strides on its small but delicious menu. Chris, the co-owner with his wife Laura are special people that one could only find in a magical city like New Orleans. Each drink is lovingly prepared and has a story about its historic creation. Truly great things take time so if you're in a rush, go another night when you can relax and revel in everything. My wife and I had a truly delightful night there our first night in town and we are going back for another stellar evening tonight. The deviled eggs were great and had a nice surprise crunch from a bit of celery, fries were expertly prepared and wonderfully crispy, waygu steak was excellent, perfectly cooked. It was nice to enjoy the food but the drinks and Chris & Laura are the stars of the show. May they prosper!

Revel is back! Despite Covid and Hurricanes Chris is back at his game making some of the worlds best cocktails, with incredible presentation and incredibly reasonable prices. The bar is full service, but food is currently limited menu.

Family owned so cute and welcoming inside. Lauren, one of the daughters, whom I had the pleasure to chat with up at the bar was very proud (and rightly so) to say that everything down to the mayonnaise is made in house. The buttery and fluffy brioche bread and all the lovely crostini that came with my charcuterie is also made in house. The menu is a foodies delight boasting with vegetarian fresh options, lots of lovely seafood, steak bruschetta, peanut butter on burgers, charcuterie, samplers and small plates to share! Put it this way, I tried this restaurant and came back the very next day for more... There's muhammara (a Syrian) dip made with roasted red bell bell peppers and pecans, a variety of snack like bruschetta one with white anchovies! fried chicken sandwich with a honey something sauce with blue cheese, and all the cocktails are presented as if they spent hours hand writing them in calligraphy. It's a beautiful menu, a warm and friendly place and I can't wait to try everything on their menu!!! I had the charcuterie plate that I created, I was a little bratty because I was hoping for a gooey like triple cream Brie, but this is an American Brie and if you're a cheese lover, you love all cheese no matter what. Star was so sweet too and brought me some honey to drizzle over the Brie and even some olive oil to dress it up or the bread even more. Divine! I had to get the truffle salame. Whenever I see truffles, that's a must. And, Star said chef's fave was the gin and juice salame which became my favorite after the comparison. The dessert choice was rich beignets stuffed with chèvre with a balsamic reduction and a light dust of powdered sugar. These are apparently very difficult to prepare as chef mentioned and personally dropped off. I again, love all cheeses, not so sure about this chèvre or choice of cheese, but I definitely enjoyed and even shared with new friends I met at the bar. That's their cocktail! How cool is that? a little dropper of water so you can add just the right amount to your scotch or whiskey. Where else have you seen this in New Orleans? The best thing is they are right around the corner from me in Mid City, a jump off the Carrolton stop from the Canal/Museum or Harrahs/Canal streetcar. The other thing I noticed is the attention to detail. I never took more than two sips of water before it was refilled, I didn't feel rushed and all my plates, silverware, and beverage napkins were replaced and kept dry. Top notch, unobtrusive service. This is a review of the bar only. We stopped in here for some post-event cocktails and I immediately loved the laid back vibe of the place; it was really cozy and hip. The bartenders were really sweet and I was impressed with Revel's beer selection. I'm always looking for nice bars that cater to the "chat and drink" crowd more than the "party" crowd and Revel definitely fits the bill. They seem to have quite the selection of cocktails that I will have to try the next time I'm in the area.

Lots of good drinks to choose from. Little pricey. Had boudin balls and steak bruschetta, both were ok wouldn't do it again. Had the crawfish grilled cheese and that was real good! That pulled the place to 4 stars. Little place but local feeling to it.

I will always remember this place for the sheer kindness that was shown to my friends and I. We just happened to be in the area when good old Yelp mentioned this place having craw-dogs. Anything crawfish and I am there! We arrived with something we did not expect. For one, the peanut butter hamburger was one of the best hamburgers I have eaten in my life, no exaggeration. For two, we were educated on so much about drinks and the City of New Orleans. or three, craw-dogs! Oh, the NOLA craft beers were great too. When you are in a foreign place, not much else warms the heart more than seeing someone passionate about what they are doing, while you are a customer in their establishments. Props to the owners for sharing their passion about NOLA and the drinks. As were leaving NOLA, my friends and I referenced this place many times; it was one of the stepping stone for how memories were created that week.

First off let me give props to Amanda craft drink maker extraordinaire...I will get to her later. This review will be a little long...because this place deserves one. OK. Its a cute little bar/restaurant that's down Canal/Carrollton Ave you can take the trolley straight shot from the quarter without any issue...or get dropped off...or ride a bike..doesn't matter because its really easy to find. So when you are in town..go, just go...and sit at the bar. They have happy hour daily from 11a-7pm..YES 11am. With a special cocktail for a reduced price daily. (sazerac saturday, old fashioned fridays) Chris McMillan and his wife Laura are masters at the cocktail and their rep proceeds them...and they are just so darn nice too. This bar is a love child born outta the idea that its better to run their own, than work for someone else and as Chris said that they are service folks, not business folks so they have no choice other than to be good (in service, drinks and food) Chris is a walking encyclopedia and a simple question of "hey Chris, whats that ?" will turn into you getting a interesting breakdown on its origins and his drinks are absolutely delicious of course. Ms. Laura will add her own little comments here and there or sing a song along with you as she bustles away with her clientele. The food? Here where I was hmm its ok, not bad" I went to this bar 3 days in a row...yes...3...I had the hot wings (not crispy enough for me) the pulled pork nachos ( hey I live in Austin, Texas so we do BBQ and tex mex very well and I just couldn't get into this dish, the pork was tender but not very flavorful) and I so wanted the off the menu baby back ribs (now they smelled heavenly and looked it too) but they ran out by the time I was ready to order them...shoot! The drinks?? A M A Z I N G...this leads me to Ms. Amanda...I swear that woman took care of a rush of drinks with speed and efficiency. She put her hair in a pony and got down to biz, making wise cracks along the way while making these complicated drinks. Listen folks...when you come here BRING YOUR PATIENCE because these are handcrafted cocktails, that means they are hand beating whipped cream (respect!), pounding and crushing ice with a huge wooden mallet...cracking eggs for the egg white for a gin fizz....measuring like 3-4 different ingredients per drink! THIS. TAKES. TIME. So with that said, if you want a quality drink handmade with delectable, delightful and interesting ingredients and can chill and enjoy yourself with patience...this is your place. If not...Nola has a ton of bars that can sling together a cosmo for ya.

No horrible but far from awesome. Happy hour special was a bit deceptive. 5$ Pinot was great. Cheese tray was a train wreck. Mediocre charcuterie bland cheese horrible bell peppered up gardeniere. Foccocia bread was nice. The oysters were tiny but the sauce was unique and tasty. Do yourself a favor and skip the food altogether. Come here for drinks and cocktails then walk across the street to Venezia and Monja Monja Monja. Walk around several blocks and have to go get ANGELAo brocatos for dessert.

The first itme I stopped in was for lunch on a work day and Revel had just opened. My salad was delicious but with only one server working the restaurant portion and no drinking for me, it may not have been the quickest choice. Finally made it back for a Happy Hour last week. Loved the wine and cocktail selection at HH and that they were supporting a charity that day. My sparkling wine was tasty and the snacks people got looked delicious. Next stop...to actually eat dinner here.

I'm a huge fan of Chris and his crew here (Laura and Amanda). An excellent addition to the mid-city scene that focuses upon craft cocktails and is accompanied by a great selection of bar food and beyond. There is an extensive cocktail menu that winds its way through vodka, gin, bourbon, rum and more. Each cocktail is well thought out and expertly prepared. That alone is a 5 star in my book. However, the real gem is when you're not quite sure what you want and Chris says "what do you like" and asks a few additional questions and crafts something fabulous! His knowledge is extensive and he really enjoys introducing people to new cocktails and flavor combinations! We have ordered the cheese board, the crispy wings, the vegetarian nachos and a few of the salads. Crawfish grilled cheese is wonderful when on the menu, and I would recommend checking out the specials of the day. Everything was really excellent! Try it - I really think you will like it!!!

This was my first time ordering from this place, but they had a very interesting sandwich that I had to try. It was the grilled cheese crawfish sandwich. I highly recommend this sandwich. It is exactly what you think it would be and much much more. They definitely do not scrimp on the number of crawfish and they also add plenty of cheese. My only reason for not giving it five stars is because I had it delivered and the box they put it in was too small for the sandwich. So they had to stack it and the top piece fell out onto the bottom piece and made quite a mess. But once I reconstructed it at home, it was a really tasty sandwich.

Located in the heart of Midcity, lies this diamond of a bar/lunch spot/tapas restaurant/cocktail heaven. It's so good, I just want to Revel in it... Head straight to the bar. The brass elephants have a story, be sure to ask! You'll get a treat if the owner Chris is there (and he typically is). He has over a dozen cocktails tributed to his name and helped found the cocktail museum uptown, in addition to years of experience in the Tails of the Cocktail world. He'll make you a marvelous drink, give you the history behind it, and make you smile along the way. For him, cocktails should be an adventure for all the senses. The Moscow mules run on special and there's always something new on the menu. My favorite craft cocktail is the Whiskey Girl. There's always a happy hour meal special -- the ribs are quite a treat. I've hosted a few events in their space, and for about $100, we got a full spread of cheeses, sandwiches, charcuterie and more. You'll leave satisfied and more knowledgeable. But, don't save this place for a special treat. It's a great spot for a quick lunch too as the bread they use is worth trying to find parking!
