I want to start by saying that I had been wanting to try this restaurant for over a year. The atmosphere was warm, whimsical, and inviting. Unfortunately, we only had time for an appetizer, but the hummus was very good. It was unique, topped with olives, cucumbers, feta, and a sprinkle of seasoning.
Our server was incredibly kind and helpful when I mentioned that I am gluten-free, which I truly appreciated.
While those aspects were great, the disappointing part of our visit was the experience with the rest of the staff. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, yet it felt as though we were inconveniencing the hostess. When we asked for a table for two, she sighed and said, “Fine, follow me.” The manager standing nearby never looked up from their phone when we arrived or when we left.
When we were seated, some of the kitchen staff were sitting in the dining room talking and using their phones. The hostess simply placed the menus in the middle of the table without saying anything and walked away.
If our server hadn’t been so kind, we likely would have left. There was also a gentleman manager that came by to ask how everything was, which his eye contact & kindness also made us feel better. Sadly, a place we had hoped would become our go-to spot in town ended up being somewhere we would not return to or recommend to friends and coworkers.
