Went to the beach for an international sand sculpting festival. Nice beach to walk with good views. Seeing planes taking off & landing was fun for kids. The sculpting festival was great. Lots of food trucks to eat with some delicious food choices. During the festival, there was a carousel and Ferris wheels with other playing activities for kids. Short walk from Revere blue line train station. Parking alongside the road.

As a local, Revere Beach is more than just sand and sea—it’s the nation’s first public beach (est. 1896) and a perfect spot to relax, stroll, or enjoy delicious local eats. Also great for morning or afternoon run! Whether you’re here for the sunrise, the famous International Sand Sculpting Festival, or just a peaceful walk along the three-mile shoreline, Revere Beach is always worth the visit.

Google
Beautiful beach right in the city. It was clean and lots of people enjoying the hot weather. There are small rocks and shells on the beach so beach shoes or flip flops are recommended. We enjoyed the evening at the beach. There is free parking on the street close to the beach it is first come basis. I would visit again.

Jenn Zellers

Google
Beach was clean and calm. There was a lot of space to set up your own area and there are awesome restaurants nearby! Parking was pretty easy as we parked 1 street down and walked up.

Dominic Possoch

Google
Went there before taking a flight at BOS: greatest decision ever! Very convenient located at the Blue Line and just a nice way to still make the most out of a travel day. Beach was clean, water was cold, sand was hot.

Google
A while month later and the sand castles are still there, and I'm great shape. I'm glad I got to see them this year. I thought I missed them.

Google
Great beach!! Love that it's walkable from Wonderland Station. The sand is relatively soft and the water is clear. Only thing is that there are bugs around some of the sand, but not an issue if you stay close to the ocean.

Google
Nice wide beach with a big boardwalk, in the Logan airport area, a short walk from some of the airport hotels, and easily reachable ftom the Wonderland station of the BL (blue) subway line. I was there in a cloudy and cool day in early June, and it was a very pleasant stroll with a nice view of the sea and various bars and restaurants available - I imagine it can get very crowded in the summer.

Yelp
love the history. watch out for jd's brothers (not vance), they like to steal food. not enough waves for boogie boarding. cold water but great tans (not rayupuang)

Yelp
This isn't the Revere Beach I grew up knowing where you couldn't walk without stepping on a needle. It's clean and relatively nice now! The bathrooms are well kept, and I love how long it is so you can have a really good walk/run. I still feel meh about the water but according to water reports it is amongst the cleanest beach waters now so good for it. Plenty of good food options-I'm partial to grabbing a pizza or some tamales from the spots just across from the sand and eating by the waves.

Yelp
Visiting from Florida, I came with low expectations expecting pebbles like much of the New England coastline. The sand was decent, and the beach was quite expansive and easily accessible by public transport. However, I'd wanted to go for a swim, but the water was way too cold for my comfort even in mid-July. A wet suit would have been a good idea. In addition to relaxing on the sand, there were plenty of food trucks, a Ferris wheel, music performances and even magicians when we went. Some sculptors were competing in a sand sculpting competition too. Overall, besides the disappointment of not being able to go into the water, we had a great time!
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
It's not a bad beach at all. Like that it is public transportation friendly, and the blue T (Wonderland) is right around the corner. It has definitely gotten cleaner over the past few years. There are so many modern buildings, restaurants, food trucks, so it is definitely an up and coming area. It's not Miami, but a day trip here with friends is always a good idea!

Yelp
I couldn't believe how many shells were on the beach! The shells are really limited at the beaches back home in North Carolina, so that this was unexpected. Lots of seaweed, but that was no big deal to us. The beach was pretty clean overall and not that crowded. The walking areas were really nice. Beautiful views!
google avatar

Yelp
This place exceeded past my expectations! It was super easy to find parking for us because we got there at 9am. We got parking right in front. The sand was super soft starting out, then as you got closer to the shore you it was hard and easy to walk on. We found the biggest seashells ever. But then again, it's our first time at a up north beach. Farthest north we've been was New York . The beach was very clean. At the shore the tide brought in sea weed and broken sea shells. Got to find a baby hermit crab. My 4 year old was able to be at the water with no issues. They had multiple food trucks and food vendors with music . This was a great beach! Thank you MA !

Yelp
Overall rating: 3 stars, the water is always green on the other side! Food: plenty of food options such as ice cream, tacos, fries, hotdogs from various vendors Texture: water is salty and blue from first glance, but entering into the water you'll soon realize it's a murky green gray Pricing: free parking, food will cost a pretty penny Ambiance: could be nice but could also be lurking with creeps from time to time Seating & Parking: benches and tables going along the beach as well as a short stall wall to sit on Service: N/A Music: whatever song is blasting out of a car or someone's speaker Bathrooms: male and female bathrooms at the very beginning of the beach, a bit unsanitary but what can be expected from America's first public beach Final comments: a nice free beach, be careful of needles in the sand AND on the street!

Priya D.

Yelp
Just awesome. Great connections. Safe. We were there attending a conference and it worked good for us

Bethany H.

Yelp
Nice public beach, low tide when we went but it was clean and fun. Great food nearby as well

Christine D.

Yelp
Great fun in the summer on Revere Beach. I especially enjoyed the sand castles in the summer because it would take you 3 hours to get 1/10th of a mile. Especially fun late night or the morning hours for people watching. I saw a dead whale once that washed up. Also red tide. Unfortunately, Nemo was not available for comments or questions. But in all honesty, Marlin and Dory were really the stars of that movie. Also not present. 5 stars

Yelp
Overall, Revere Beach is one of the popular beaches on the coastlines of the greater Boston area. It may not be in the top 5 but it is definitely a great place to walk and swim during summer. The place features its annual sand sculpture festivals, which are usually hosted on the third or fourth weekend of July. It is a great experience to wander by the sand arts created with planes flying overhead. Ocean, sand arts, and planes are married together for an amazing summer scene. During the sand sculpture festival, it may be hard to find street parking nearby. The parking garage at the wonderland station of Blue Line can be a place with $7 on weekdays and $2 on weekends.

Yelp
Pretty beach along the Boston Harbor and coast, and I can see why this place is a nice little getaway when you want to escape the city for a while. The water is quiet and serene, and watching the parade of planes coming onto their final approaches into Logan Airport was always fun. Yes, I am a northerner, so going to the beach in the cold months is what we do. It is enjoyable and nice when nobody's around because it allows me to reflect on things and have a beautiful backdrop all to myself (save for one bizarre man who was talking to himself on a bench while eating his dinner). Other than that it was a nice way to spend an hour and reflect on life. Except I will not get that in the summer! Summers are busy here because the days are longer. At least it is right off the Blue Line. Only two blocks from the water and you are there.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
One of my favorite beaches in the Boston area! During the off season, dogs are allowed on the beach. My pup LOVES coming here! It's big, usually not too busy, and sandy.

Yelp
And dream of getting out of here Summer here is a ball But you'll freeze in the Fall If you live on the beach at Revere I revere Revere. There, I said it. Amazing Suburban City Northeast of Boston which basically is centered around the huge crescent-shaped beach that has to be the most perfect crescent-shaped beach in all of North America. It reminds me of Nice in France, on the Cote D'Azur. A very very very very very cold Nice. So maybe they should call it Notsonice? There is brilliant roast beef and perfect views of the planes landing at Logan and can it really get any better than this place - nah - and I wish I would have discovered it a long time ago. As for the beach... Revere Beach is the place in Boston that I Revere the most. I can't believe it took me this long to find it. It reminds me of any beach town in England with a beautiful crescent shape, you can see all the way from one end to the other, and gorgeous fairy lights at night with the added element of a roast beef shop that is pretty decent and open until 1 or 2 in the morning - and the added added element of planes landing right over the beach into Logan Airport which makes for an added dimension of added added added. Added. BTW I added you on facebook hi. Definitely one of the most memorable and emotionally significant beaches in the country for me although I know there are cleaner and more secluded ones nearby. Plus you can park all night here and nobody will bother you which I just did last night. Zzzzzzzzz. What a spectacular place to wake up and one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole country. I love it so much here.
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
America's first public beach! I love this beach! It's 3 long miles of sand and wide sidewalk. Not too crowded in the summer. Clean. 2 bath houses. Nice wide sidewalk for waking the entire beach.
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
It is hard to believe that this lovely beach (at least, it's lovely now) is so close to downtown Boston. A very quick ride on the Blue Line ($5.50 or less, round trip) and a few minutes has you stepping out and getting the sand between your toes. It is a nice, long arc with planes going overhead and landing at Logan airport, not far to the south. Picnic tables and a bandshell complete the picture. Revere Beach proudly calls itself "America's First Public Beach" and I'm not going to disagree.

Yelp
So this is the end of the road for our Drive Across America. Dublin CA to Boston, MA, Pacific Ocean to Atlantic Ocean, 9 days - 3,302 miles - 51 Yelp reviews. It was an epic journey and a trip of a lifetime. We will miss our rental Toyota Sequoia we nicknamed "Stormy". Revere Beach is a nice, large sand beach an easy drive from Boston. It's a good shelling beach and no waves so probably Ok for swimming. Check it out. Listed in Drive Across America: https://www.yelp.com/collection/4_4-FCUBHEQBq43u7DXRig

Yelp
This is a fun beach to visit in the summer time. - In the summer they have a sand castle festival! Artists showcase incredible sand sculptures. There is also a boardwalk with the typical fair foods and street performers. - In terms of the beach itself, definitely not the best beach I have been to. But for Boston, I think it is a solid option especially since it is accessible by T. - Like any other beach, it does get crowded in the summer time but it is a reasonable amount of people.
google avatar

Sagar T.

Yelp
I love this beach for the following reasons: - a long coast to walk for hours - parking all along the coast that's usually allowed for 4 hours at a time - a good, clean footpath - cool restaurants with good (junk) food/drinks (a bit expensive) - proximity to the Boston downtown - proximity to the airport (Sometimes air crafts landing at Logan go over this beach and it's fun to watch them so close) I would say that it's not the cleanest beach (but definitely clean). You may find other beaches that are less crowded and cleaner if you drive for couple of hours. But if you want to go to a good beach that's minutes away Boston, Revere beach is here for you!
google avatar

Chrissy A.

Yelp
This beach was absolutely beautiful! Of course, it was October so it wasn't crowed and it was a little cold BUT the view was amazing. The beach was clean and sandy and looked like a great place to hang out when it's warmer. Very pretty, I'm glad we stopped :)
google avatar

Marybet V.

Yelp
Beautiful beach, lots of places to eat or get a drink if your a drinker. Strolled along looking at the beauty, lots of gorgeous clam shells to take home for souvenirs!! Best idea ever. Rode around the entire area, beautiful homes on the coast!

Yelp
Revere beach is such a great beach when you're living in the city! Just north of Boston, you can get here by taking the blue line all the way to the end at Wonderland, and walk to the beach in just two minutes from the station. Super clean beach and doesn't smell bad at all, there are bathrooms on either end of the beach at the posts. Blue line connects from green at government Center and state street for the orange line. Can't recommend it enough - will be frequenting it all summer!
google avatar

Bianca S.

Yelp
Such a nice beach ! Nice view there's lots of parking which is great ! The water wasn't so cold this time it was warm. Everyone was staying 6 ft apart which it was great due to COVID 19. Lots of sun and lots of sea shell beautiful beach ! If you are hungry there's also some restaurant across the street.
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
Coming from so-cal so this is the closest beach to Harvard campus and the closest thing to a patch of sand next to a body of ocean water. You should have an idea of what you're going to do before you try to go to a beach like this- the sand is not fine and honestly pretty gritty toward the edge away from the water. If you're interested in frisbee and soccer, those are totally doable. Otherwise, if you wanted to get some sun tanning in that's only good if you're safe because you will get sun burnt if you're not careful! Make sure you get a dip in the water to test your ability to handle cold.
google avatar

Christa M.

Yelp
So pretty!!!!!! Relaxing to just walk along the water!! Definitely nice to come out and lay round! There's also a lot of business along the way to stop and eat and browse around!
google avatar

Amelie D.

Yelp
Really nice beach!!! Love it!! Bathroom are available also. Nice send and small waves. A lot of people tho... But perfect area for a picnic and day at the beach!!

Yelp
Revere Beach has a very special place in my heart I grew up in Revere. At the very end of Revere Beach in a little section called the Point of Pines. For those of you not familiar with Revere Beach. It is America's first public beach and it has the most crescent shape of any beaches in all of the United States. When I was younger it was the last era of amusements at Revere Beach. I was lucky enough to ride the cyclone an old wooden roller coaster would bang and bump so much it would scare the living sh't out of you. And as a boy my friends and I couldn't get enough of it. I also caught the end of the arcade and famous eateries such as Rudolphs peppered steak and Anna's pizza. For those of you that missed all of that we still have the world-famous Kelly's roast beef they invented the roast beef sandwich the original location is on Revere Beach along with Bianchi's pizza the best on the North Shore probably in the country for a standard pie. That Rivera Beach you can enjoy miles of sand and it low tide you can walk out for almost miles the beach is very accommodating for all cultures in all aspects of beach life. It is easily accessible through the MBTA's blue Blueline And has multiple stops along the beach so you can get to the area that you like best. Regardless of the reputation Revere Beach is an extremely safe beach as the state police have a barracks directly on the boulevard. So gather up the family, pack the cooler, grab a bathing suit and yes it's December but take a dip in the ice cold Atlantic go enjoy Revere Beach you'll have some wonderful memories here. If you need changing facilities and bathroom facilities head on down to the area in front of Sammy's patio Sammy just happens to be an excellent friend of mine we went to school together so pop on in and tell Sammy Dave Romanow says hello and grab a drink the bathhouse is right in front of his location. I hope you all go and enjoy yourself I try to go to the beach every day‍‍ It was an awesome day today January 12, 2017 it was so warm I had to go for a slice figured I would open up the garage and take the bike out for a spin all I can say another great day at Revere Beach great slice great ride great weather !!!!

Yelp
I wanted to check this place out because I read somewhere that it is the first public beach in America. It sure seems like it hasn't been cleaned since the first visitors came over 200 years ago. It is really dirty and there's all sorts of trash buried in the sand. The crowd is a little rough and there are not too many of the typical businesses you expect to find near the beach (restaurants, beach stores, etc.).
google avatar

Jake Q.

Yelp
What a hidden gem in Boston! Need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life for a day? Easy enough, hope on the T blue line (can't remember think blue for ocean) take it within a block walking distance to this beautiful public beach! Plenty to do and take in while enjoying the fresh ocean air!
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
Nice beautiful beach to visit when the have events like The International Sand Sculptures. Food vendors were out in full swing , some high prices to be expected on this 3 day event which is easy to get to from the MBTA .
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
Although Revere Beach may not have a good rep and people see it is trashy, believe me Hampton is MORE trashy. Plus, if you're lucky enough to get here early (before noon on a summer week day or weekend) you can find free parking on the side of the road. Hampton doesn't offer free parking at all. That's a huge plus for me when I come to a beach. There's not as many restaurants and stores on the boardwalk but I find it more enjoyable and relaxing. Definitely not the best beach around Boston but worth coming to!
google avatar

Being H.

Yelp
I like this beach I really do, the water is good, it is really close to my house and the parking is easy. Two stars because the sand has trash people need to learn how to pick up after them self's, also because the bathrooms are FILTHY AND OLD AND NASTY !
google avatar

Caleb C.

Yelp
I happen to now live here on the BLVD... it's a little peace of heaven.. the neighborhood is changing and I see a lot of good changes happening.. it's so close to downtown and the T brings you to two different stops right along the beach..
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
Been coming to this beach since I could remember love the changes... Sandcastle's , Fireworks, have made this beach iconic .. came to get a late nite roast beef sandwich from Kelly's !
google avatar

Mary Ann C.

Yelp
We just stopped by for a half hour walk before heading to the airport. It was more than I expected. They don't charge for parking. I was surprised not to find parking meters. There is easly beach access. The beach was just feet from where we parked. There is a long stretch of sand. It was rather quiet but them again it was early on a Wednesday afternoon. I would plan to stop again on the way out of town.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Having family in Revere we often travel past Revere Beach but never actually stop. Today I decided to spend a little time watching the winter waves after the most recent show fall. Today it was nice to watch the waves flowing onto the snow covered shores while some folks walled their dogs on the beach. The view was beautiful and we can't wait to come back next year for the sandcastle competition.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
Venice Beach in the 80s...... .... slightly bearable during the day, but once that sun starts to set, head for your car..... no, RUN for your car.... and make like a tree and leave. I came to Revere Beach to see the Sand Sculpture competition, which I must say was worth the visit. I'm always amazed to see such amazing works of art created from something I dig out of my bellybutton. The beach itself is picturesque.... but very Monet- great from afar, but kind of falls apart as you get closer. Coming from Southern California, it probably isn't a fair comparison (other than maybe Venice Beach) to anything I'd consider a regular weekend visit, but for Boston, I suppose it's bearable, though I'll likely never come here again. It just didn't feel.... safe. The wife asked if I was comfortable with her bringing our daughter here alone, to which I replied, "only if I plan on getting rid of you". Hellz no!
google avatar

Voravut R.

Yelp
Etsablished as the first public beach in the United States the heydays of this place are gone but they return in small burst with events like the International Sandcastle Sculpting Competition, 4th of July, etc. Some great eateries still line it's shores like the legendary Kelly's Roast Beef that is always there for eats. It's one of those places that has brought so many people joy & you can feel it. Even on the coldest winter days you can find people enjoying the breezes & listening to the crashing of the waves. I love the old fashioned gazeboes that still host dance parties on summer nights. Many nights have been spent on the walls just starting into the night, talking to friends, watching the world go by. It's amazing how much life still happens year round. It's really special.
google avatar

Bea T.

Yelp
This beach came to a huge surprise to me. I know, I know you're thinking why would anybody want to go there? Well let me tell you what happened in the past two decades... You probably wouldn't step foot on it because it was a drug and crime haven or at least had a big reputation... I think I went to a party there once, ages ago. Since then my friend was begging me to go and since she knows I love to go to the beach up north plus she was looking to buy property in the area, I finally decided to go. What's nice is I took the blue line which was an easy change from the green line at Government Center to get here. When I got off the T the beach was huge and long and very nicely Sandy. What I didn't know is in the turn of the 20th century this was the first public beach in the US. They used to have a boardwalk with a ferris wheel and a live band and vendors but somehow it went away through time. So I have to say I was gladly surprised. It was low tide that particular day and you can totally clam dig for fun. It was very clean and beautiful. I will definitely come here again if I'm in the mood to go to a nearby Beach.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
This Miami girl had to check out a beach in Boston while I was in town. It doesn't compare to Florida beaches, but overall, it seemed like a nice beach with a small town feel surrounding it. Even with the weather in the upper 60s/lower 70s, there were still people out there on a Monday afternoon trying to soak up a little bit of sun. The sand looks nice, but I don't know if I'd venture into the water. It was the first time for me seeing water that dark at a beach. It's not too bad of a ride on the blue line to get there, and there are a few small restaurants and bars across the street. I can imagine that this place is busy when it's warmer and on the weekends.
google avatar

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Super awesome beach! Not crowded and lots of sand to set up and relax. Only downside is a little bit of seaweed is in the beginning of the water, but once you go out further it's fine. Would recommend
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
We were dropped off here by hotel shuttle. He said beach is 7 miles long. The right side was condos and hotels. He dropped us off in middle closer to restaurants. Upon getting out of van, the fresh salty ocean breeze was heavenly. Too bad Yelp doesn't have smellovision. The day was perfect and sunny and I made a beeline to the water. Huge clam shells and other shells everywhere. Water was also warm. This was a Friday afternoon around 2:30 and it was not crowded at all. Son got dirty and made a sand creation. Walking the beach was such a great way to end vacation before our return flight the next day. There was street parking nearby. Subway also brings you here. Highly recommend in summer.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
We came around noon on the Thursday before the international sand sculpting festival. There weren't too many people there and this beach seemed relatively clean, including the bathrooms towards the end of the beach, although some parts had a lot of broken seashells and seaweed floating around. We really liked the shaded tables and benches that run along the beach since it was a pretty hot day under the sun. Parking was a bit stressful since we didn't know the area but there does seem to be a few parking lots/garages nearby. We randomly picked one which happened to be one of the lots for the T, and it costed only $5 for the day. There are street parking along the beach that's free but we didn't bother to try our luck. There doesn't seem to be many food options along the beach though. We saw maybe 2 restaurants, an ice cream place and a Dunkin donuts there.
google avatar

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Indeed. It may not be the prettiest or the cleanest beach you've ever seen. But can we all agree that this is the most convenient beach in Boston area? Sure. This beach is often used as a punchline of many jokes but once you actually see it. It is not as horrible as we anticipate. If you wake up late in the summer morning with major hangover and are looking for a cure? Hop on the blue line with a few plastic bags in case you need to throw up during the journey. Get off at Revere Beach and jump in the cold water. Believe me. You'd be surprised how much you'd feel better after that. No plan needed to come here as it's only 20-30min away from Downtown Boston. Revere Beach is very precious existence for spontaneous dudes/dudettes like myself.
google avatar

Grace H.

Yelp
Doesn't look like the fanciest beach but it gets the job done. Careful about stepping on sea shells or weird jelly like things (couldn't figure out if the remains were plant or animal based). I really enjoyed viewing the remains of the sand castle competition. Don't know about parking since I took the T there but it did look like there was plenty of street parking along the beach as we walked from the mbta stop. Saw what seemed to be harvard or MIT students playing frisbee. Then again, they could just be tourists. You can buy Harvard and MIT merchandise anywhere in Boston.
google avatar

Yelp
i cant bear the smell of this beach. there is a distinguished seaweed-low-tide smell here unlike other beaches not too far away. out of all the beaches that massachusetts has to offer, this would rank in the bottom in my opinion in terms of having a nice beach day.
google avatar

Tanya S.

Yelp
Visited mid May. Beautiful beach, really impressed for a city beach. Great boardwalk along the edge. Not a ton of sand at high tide but the beach stretches out over a long distance. We visited before the summer heat and the water was calm and very clear.
google avatar

Nataly B.

Yelp
Personally do not like this beach, it is very dirty, stinky and trashy. But enjoyed going to the beach castle competition, the sculptures very unbelievable. Definitely will go there next year!

Yelp
After reading the posts here I didn't have high expectations, I was happily surprised. We ended up coming on a cool day. The sand was clean, many young people and families, allot of lifeguards, over all a nice laid back atmosphere. The water was too cold for us to go in, even though we did see some brave people take a dip. The water seemed relatively clean. Yes, the area may be abit dodgy, but hell - not all of the Boston area is brookline. If you want to smell the sea and get out of the city for a few hours- this is the place to go. We came with the T - either wonderland or revere beach stop are fine.
