Where to Drink a Guinness in the Milwaukee Area This Winter | Eater

"This charming restaurant and tavern boasts Colonial Williamsburg-style architecture, making it a particularly stylish spot to meet friends for a holiday season drink or two. On the food menu, the biggest sellers are the shepherd’s pie and the meatloaf, but Guinness also pairs well with the scotch eggs and Reubens, too." - Jeanette Hurt

Stopped for dinner on the way back home. As expected, it was classic and generic tavern/bar food, with other interesting options like Mexican food. I settled on the meatloaf and mashed potatoes as it sounded good. It came with a brown gravy, which I prefer over ketchup-topped. The meatloaf was good but was like two patties stacked on top with some sauce. The corn muffins were good, too, but a little dry. I was more excited about the mashed potatoes, which were almost powdered. I assume it wasn’t homemade and came straight from a box since that’s how it tasted and looked when you put your fork in it. It was also somewhat cold, but I didn’t want to send the dish back if everyone else’s was okay. I also got clam chowder, which was good, but again tasted more like it came from a can. Next time I’d steer away from this dish and try something else. Service was good and the area is super cute.

Four of us had a 5:00 dinner on a Sunday evening. No need for a reservation which also made sure the noise volume was good for conversations. Our server, Jack did a great job! We changed our minds, asked lots of questions, and yet he never missed a beat. The Shepherd's Pie was a large serving and very tasty. The flavors of the beef and lamb and veggies melded well over the mashed potatoes. The Patty Melt was a little underdone (rare rather than med. rare) but I did not bother to ask for a correction. It was tasty anyway. I am not sure why there was a $1 charge for fries, but ordered them anyway. The Shamrockarita was ordered both blended and over ice, and both were really good. The drink options are interesting and there were several we could have chosen. Next time we'll try something new. The front door is not accessible but in the back of the location is handicap parking and access to the restaurant. Otherwise there is street parking that is shared with several other businesses. It's a cute town so parking anywhere nearby is worth the stroll.

We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at Revere's and it was so memorable! The food was great, and staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was perfect for our crowd. Thank you for helping make our wedding weekend so special!

I made priority reservations for my birthday and had to call last minute to ask if we could change the reservation to an hour earlier. I was provided kindness and understanding prior to us being there. Then we all got to the restaurant and the service couldn’t have been better and the food Was beyond great. Our waitress Kara/Cara (sorry… I didn’t ask her how to spell her name lol) was so beautifully hospitable and truly her service made it an exceptional evening… the icing on the cake if you will. Great place, can’t wait to go back. Just go. You won’t regret it.

11/7/2024 Stopped with a friend at the Restaurant for lunch. Had the swiss mushroom burger with a side salad. A decent meal. ***************************************** We were not at the actual Tavern, but got some of their food at a Tent during a show at Liberty Park. The pulled pork was very good, but not as flavorful as I would have liked.

Revere’s delivers exactly what you want from a classic bar and grill—comfort food done right in a lively, casual setting. The menu is packed with crowd-pleasers, from the legendary Wisconsin Cheese Curds (crispy, golden, and perfectly gooey) to the hearty Shepherd’s Pie and the indulgent Revere Burger topped with bacon, cheddar, haystack onions, and whiskey BBQ sauce. Brooke was the heart of our experience at Revere’s. From the moment we walked in, her warm welcome set the tone for the evening. She demonstrated remarkable attentiveness—anticipating requests, offering thoughtful recommendations, and ensuring our drinks were always topped off without us needing to ask. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she highlighted specials and suggested pairings that turned out to be spot-on, enhancing our meal choices. What truly set Brooke apart was her genuine enthusiasm and professionalism. She checked in at just the right moments, never making us feel rushed or forgotten, and handled a busy section with ease and grace. Brooke’s friendly demeanor made us feel like valued guests, and her positive attitude was contagious. Even during the busiest times, she remained composed and efficient, ensuring every detail was perfect.

Cajun chicken sandwich is super delicious and so is blackened shrimp Tacos. Their sauce on the side is absolutely perfect pair for the sandwich. Service is great and drinks are good. They served chips on the side and are good as well. Restaurant is clean and has good old vibes for the place. There are lot of parking spots and great place to ride on your motorcycle. UPDATE: I came back to this place during winter and this time tried cheese curds and onion hash which are super delicious. Had a cinnamon sugar rum beer which is new to me but surprisingly good

Located downtown Delafield, Revere’s Tavern is a great place with a vibrant atmosphere. The bar is large and serves a nice selection drinks. Service was excellent. The menu has a great variety of food. Will definitely make this one of my favorite places!

Yelp
This place is massive! Servers were stretched very thin...it took a while before even seeing our server. But once she took our orders, our food came out surprisingly fast. Our meals were worth the wait: Bison burger with chips & Chicken Caesar wrap with chips. Both sandwiches were above average for taste and quality. Location of this downtown restaurant is ideal for walkability from The Delafield Hotel.

Yelp
Revere's serves up basic bar eats nestled in the heart of the ever charming Delafield. We stopped by recently after a bike ride on the Lake Country Trail in Delafield. They have a large sidewalk level patio out front with plenty of heaters for chilly evenings. We happily opted for a spot on the patio. We started with their barrel aged old fashioned, which is a classic style old fashioned. It was solid and can be prepared the Wisconsin way if you so choose. For our starter, we opted for the spinach artichoke dip which comes served with tri colored tortilla chips. The dip was the highlight of our visit. It was creamy, flavorful, which an ever so slightly spicy kick. We loved it. For my main, I got the patty melt (with veggie burger substituted for the angus beef burger). It was a bit dry but ok. The service was top notch throughout our experience. Truly, more like a 3.5 experience but rounded up for the patio, service, and amazing spinach artichoke dip.

Yelp
The food was very average. The building itself is spacious, well decorated, and is in a great location. But the food was average with above average price tags.

Yelp
The food was very good. Will fisher is such a kind soul. I'm very glad I had him as my host. He's lowkey so tough and nonchalant. I aspire to be like him one day

Yelp
Had the pleasure of dining at Revere's this evening. I love German food and I chose the Jagerschnitzel, red cabbage, spaetzle,Jager gravy and pretzel bun. The pork schnitzel was tender and flavorful, and juicy. The red cabbage was perfectly sweet with a hint of sour. The spaetzle was just like I make. I ended my meal with carrot cake. So full of flavor with incredible cream cheese frosting- can't go wrong. I tasted the buffalo chicken bites- full of spicy chicken wrapped in a crunchy shell. My french onion soup was also great. We will be returning! ( Birthday dinner celebration )

Yelp
Stopped in early on Friday evening for their fish fry. This was our second time here and kind of remembered the fish fry being okay. Unfortunately this experience left a lot of to be improved on. Portions on everything were small. 3 small pieces of cod that had a crust that was hard to cut with a fork. One average sized potato pancake that was just so so. Less than 2 tablespoons of coleslaw and about a tablespoon of tartar sauce. One would expect to be full when you spend $50 for a fish fry for two but we both left hungry. Service and ambiance were first rate To bad the food didn't get to the same level.

Yelp
When we enter the restaurant, we were greeted immediately and seated extremely fast. We found out it was build your own burger night so that's what we had for dinner. It was fantastic and the house chips were amazing. We'll definitely continue to go back and by the way, they pour a mean pint of Guinness.

Yelp
I would return to revere's to get a beer & appetizer and watch a game but not for a sit down meal. My party of 5 was seated after a 5 minute wait at a good sized hightop table. The drink selection is what you'd find at any sports bar. We ordered the nachos for the table and it was a decent portion and a good appetizer. The shrimp tacos were a letdown after the nachos. $15 for 6 pieces of shrimp and basic chips/salsa. The seasoning on the shrimp was good but they were small and not noticeable unless eaten alone. The entrees the other members of my party got were about the same, pricey and just alright for what they were. I like the atmosphere and the bar seemed like a fun place to sit so I will likely be back just for a beer.

Yelp
good atmosphere with potential for greatness! dark wood with several rooms provides the opportunity for multi moods and settings. stopped in with a group while visiting the area for lunch. we sampled a variety of menu offerings including a nachos, chilly, the ruben sandwich and chicken wrap. everyone agreed the food was okay, certainly nothing extraordinary. sandwiches are served with chips that were lacking in freshness and crunch. cocktails were well made and service was the best part of the meal. it appears they offer live music at certain times which could be a fun.

Yelp
First time was one of the best meals & atmospheres. Second time, it was still great but closer to 4 than 5 stars but keeping it as a 5*. The prices are great for such a nice place Again came with my girlfriend. We started off with Chicken Tenders. These alone would give this place a 5* any & all times. Best chicken tender appetizer I have ever had. Usually places give you 3 tenders so it is hard to share evenly even with just two people. The pieces are amazingly petite but not too small. Perfectly battered & great. Totally worth $10. Not heavy at all & great side for two people if your dinner is gonna be lighter fare. Then I got the Mardi Gras Special Cajun Chicken Salad. Wanted something light bc we were going Cross Country Skiing after. The amount of chicken you got wasn't amazing but good. One thing I would say is you can lessen the dressing quantity given. It starts to add up in overhead costs & nobody is going to use up all 4oz of dressing. A 2 or 3oz portion cup would suffice.

Yelp
I phoned in a pickup order at 3:00pm on Friday afternoon and stated I would pick it up at 5:30pm that same day. I arrived at 5:25pm to pick it up and they stated they had no order in the system. I went to the hostess stand and asked again to look it up, and still no order in the system. The Hostess then ran around to find the Managers, who were in the basement at the time. They approached me and said they were sorry and would try and make good. I was angry at this point and had to wait another 5-6 minutes. Please train your staff if they are going to answer the phone and either take reservations or to go orders to follow through and not lose them and anger your customers. They are the reason you are open to begin with. I will not be back, even though I dine here at least once a week with my parents. Time for a new restaurant.

Yelp
Gave another try because someone said the Tuesday fried chicken special was fantastic. Well we both sent our orders back. Worst fried chicken we ever had. Kwik Trips chicken is even miles better!! It was rubbery, seemed freezer burned and even the coating was greasy and super salty. They were very polite about taking away the chicken. Unfortunately we've given Reveres several tries and it's just not good food. Definitely not giving another chance.

Yelp
We go here regularly but not in a while. Hoping for a dark beer we learned that they had NO dark beers and were out or three or four. We ordered Korean Tempura cauliflower, but it had NO tempura whatsoever and was only cauliflower in BBQ sauce. Entrees were OK, but then when we ordered desserts we were told that they had NO ice cream for a root beer float or for a large pan cookie. Seeing as they were now 0/3 we asked to speak to a manager. Emily came to the table, said that they had a bride shower or something, and that they had been too busy to send someone to the grocery store across the parking lot for ice cream. Unbelievably she offered NOTHING to compensate for an extremely disappointing partial meal.

John W.

Yelp
They have a rotating seasonal menu. We were fortunate enough to catch the St. Paddy's menu and had the Shepherd' Pie and Irish Beef Stew. The service was great! I love the layout of the inside. Look forward to trying the Cinco De Mayo menu.

Tom H.

Yelp
I have stopped here several times, and the experience is always good. Today was no exception. Patio was crowded... 60's in April so.... We had a nice early dinner inside. Homemade chips were not up to their normal standard, but all else was excellent. Look forward to returning again.

Yelp
I don't often venture to Lake Country but was reconnecting with friends west of here I enjoy the Guinness and Scotch eggs. The scotch eggs were not greasy. Place has a nice casual vibe and the service was great. We sat in the bar. The corned beef was a bit light on meat but was tasty.

William P.

Yelp
I have visited them a few times and their food is great. The chicken nachos are awesome. Staff was friendly and funny. Very busy but the staff are on it!

Yelp
My cousin & his wife just moved in down the street from Revere's & took us here for a tasty lunch while we were visiting them. They have an adorable patio outside which is dog friendly & would be perfect for the summer months. Inside was also nice too with a decent amount of seating. I was also impressed by the food & drinks. I had a spicy bloody mary which had just the right amount of heat. The hot chicken sandwich was great too. It's enough food to split between two people. Make sure to get some seasoning on your fries! An awesome little spot with plenty of other things to do nearby after a good bite to eat!
google avatar

Yelp
As cozy season rolls in, we have been focused on businesses and restaurants we know and love and feel comfortable with. Revere's is one of those - we know the food will be good, that people will be friendly (though probably a little rushed and understaffed), and the atmosphere will be warm and bustling. We tried the French onion soup this last time, and it was delicious on a crisp day.

Yelp
After a couple of hours hiking on the ice age trail, we were in need of a late lunch and popped in to this inviting sports bar. At 2 pm on a Saturday we had no problem getting a table for 6 without a wait. The menu features all the sports bar fare from nachos and cheese curds to burgers, soups and sandwiches and plenty of craft beers. We ended up choosing to share a bunch of appetizers including the giant pretzel, nachos and cheese curds. Servings were ample and the food was decent-not gourmet, but the usual sports bar quality and large quantity. We enjoyed the lunch

Yelp
food was amaaaazing! came out pretty fast as well. i love how they have games for the kids it adults to play while you waiting for you food. it feels very homey and cozy when inside. all the waiters were friendly. great place to go eat!!

James S.

Yelp
Food was excellent! We had our young grandchildren with us and our waitress paid special attention to them. Gabriel was an outstanding waitress! Will definitely be back!

Pri K.

Yelp
Great place! Great food! The owner was making sure we were enjoying our food and made sure we had everything! The restaurant had a rustic vibe to it, very beautiful. Although the host, blonde hair and buzz cut was just very disrespectful. Gave me a side eye, I asked where the bathroom was and he said it with a rude tone. Would it kill him to smile?
google avatar

Yelp
We were traveling in the area and specifically looked for outside seating for our dog to join us. Did not go inside this place but the outside seating was great. First time ever seeing a "seat immediately" sign. food was good. I ate a "Lucky Town" from their summer menu. Good sandwich. The ships were OK, nothing special and had no seasoning on them. Not sure when I would be back in the area but a good place to sit and enjoy the outdoors with a good meal. Our wait person was outstanding.
google avatar

Ben W.

Yelp
They really have all sorts of food here and the pasta we had was pretty good especially if you think you might like a Buffalo cheesy Mac and chicken pasta. All in all, good time there with helpful wait staff and cheap drinks less than 10$ per drink. Good atmosphere with even ping pong in the basement!
google avatar

Yelp
We were looking for a place to grab lunch after a hike at Lapham Peak and stumbled upon Revere's Wells Street Tavern on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It ended up being the perfect place for a quick, reasonable priced lunch! It looked very busy walking in and the patio was packed. I was a little worried that service might be slow since it was so busy, but it was super quick and efficient! The manager even stopped by our table to see how everything was. Our food came quickly and our server checked in on us a ton of times to refill water, etc. the foot was super tasty and there were tons of options for sides. I also tend to judge places based on their ranch, and they had super good ranch here! We are not in Delafield a ton, but I would definitely go back to eat here again if I'm ever out in that direction!
google avatar

Ronald N.

Yelp
My wife and I have eaten here a number of times and have been very pleased with the consistency of the food and service. We sat outside and both ordered the baked salmon with rice and veggies. We were very happy with the meal. Our companion ordered the salmon BLT sandwich, which she said she has had a number of times and loves. Will be trying that next time. Also, nice selection of beer and wine, along with pleasant wait staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Went in for lunch. A couple local beers on tap started off a good afternoon. I had a guest with me from outside Wisconsin so of course they had to try the fried cheese curds and then also being Friday we all had the fish fry. Three good sides of perch for me and I believe that had the cod. A very light batter on both the curds and the fish didn't slow us down a bit. The server and host were both attentive too. Would love to browse the menu for another day and there looked to be a lot of good restaurants in the area.
google avatar

AJ B.

Yelp
I've never had a bad meal at Revere's. Typically I go with the hot house chicken sandwich or Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Both are excellent and in my top 5 for chicken sandwiches in Wisconsin. The service is always fantastic, as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice Irish bar. Good food, comfortable outside patio in the summer. I'm GF but the rest of the family orders the large soft-pretzel and it is huge. I get Scottish-eggs, always delicious. Good Irish food. I would recommend this place.

Yelp
Super loud and the fish-fry was so so. Went a second time and got a burger with fries. Even less impressed. Fried pickle appetizer and spinach artichoke wontons were great! Service was good.

Yelp
Seems like just yesterday, late fall cold snap to the air, just coming in from outside to have a sit down dinner at Revere's, warm and inviting. Ordering our usual of A Revere's Double Extraordinar. Those were the days when the menu was bound, and that wasn't just the meal menu but the drink menu as well. But that was then and now is now, and I won't be back again. Today it's a laminated double sided menu, and nothing extraordinary about it. Portions are small, burgers are small. No flare, no heart to it all. Sorry to see the old Revere's slowly fad far far away. Luke warm onion soup, plates dropped and clattering to the table at the hand of the waiter. Just a hint of fixing on the burger. Come on Revere's, are you now so old that's all you can muster up. It's time to say your good byes, for I for one won't be coming back, even if for the sweet memories of a place I considered home.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this place! This part of Delafield is the cutest place! We had great service and my grandma loved the gluten free buns! Would be a fun place to come get a drink - lots of people eating a late lunch or getting a drink with friends. Will be back!
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner and was immediately seated even though it was busy. Our waitress was friendly but overly prompt - I definitely appreciate fast service but she never asked if we wanted any other drinks before giving us a check and also gave it to us while one person had just started their meal, it definitely was rushed and odd. The food is fine but nothing super elevated. I got the harvest burger which was tasty but opted for the healthy hash as my side which was bland and disappointing. Other people at the table did say the chili was very good but the pulled pork sandwich was underwhelming and not particularly flavorful. Overall, it's a nice atmosphere and is fine for drinks or a quick bite but the menu is a bit hit or miss.

Yelp
Before our haunted hike in the woods, the four of us went out to grab a bite to eat. The restaurant is located in the cute downtown area of Delafield. There's street parking but it was pretty full at 6:00 p.m.. There is a priority waiting list you can get on to before 4:00 p.m. the same day. We weren't on the list but it wasn't an issue the wait was only 15 minutes. The restaurant has a bar area and multiple dining rooms. We sat near the front in a quieter area. The restaurant was decorated with cute Halloween themed decorations inside and Fall decorations outside. The waitress came to take our drink order pretty quickly. After we ordered it took quite a while to get 3 out of 4 of our drinks which was 2 beers and a Sprecher root beer. For the meal we ordered 2 cod fish fries and 2 kids meals; one mini corn dog and one chicken tender. And an order of buffalo wings as an appetizer. The timing of the food was off and the wings and food came out about the same time which to me was fine. Buffalo wings were great. The skin was crispy and saucy. The sauce had going flavor with a little bit of kick to it. My sister said it was one of the best she has had which I agree. The fried cod came with a choice of chips, fries, or potato pancakes. I went with the potato pancakes. The cod had large meaty pieces but bland for my taste. The batter was nothing special. I did like that it was not too thick. The potato pancakes were bland, too. I prefer mine heavier on the onion taste. My sister liked hers. Overall it was a good experience with a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
The cheese curds and fish fry are spectacular. Bring bag the tater tots, however!!! The servers are all pretty good, but Chrissy totally rocks!

Yelp
As an Irishman there is nothing more horrible than frozen carrots and peas thrown into a shepherd's pie. Thank you for not bastardizing my favorite food!!

Yelp
A very nice surprise to find a place with fantastic food and great service. We were in the area biking, did not know what to expect, but this place delivered a good atmosphere, friendly people, and the food was fantastic. We will come back.

Yelp
We had a large group for a graduation get together and sat outside. Service was good, drinks were good, food was just OK. I didn't try any of the desserts we got but those seemed to be the most enjoyed. I had a perch sandwich. It was the worst fish sandwich I've ever had. I would not go back to eat here again.

Yelp
Fast food style food with fast food style service. Place is going down hill. Living off the delafield name, with West Allis quality, couldn't even get a simply patty melt and Irish Coffee. Will nolonger go there.

Yelp
Lunchtime on Father's Day. This place was busy. We checked in and were given a 20 minute estimated wait time. I requested outside seating. We went to the bar, ordered drinks and took them outside while we waited. As we took our first sip we received a text that our table was ready. Lot less than 20 minutes! We went to claim our table. As the hostess was headed towards one of the dining rooms I reminded her I requested outside seating. She said that the wait would be longer as they didn't have waitstaff for outside. OK, there must have been a communication breakdown somewhere. We sat inside. Our sever was friendly and attentive. We each ordered soup and decided to split a burger. The soup came out right away. The soup of the day was Tuscan sausage and good. The French onion soup was excellent with a rich beef broth lots of onions and gooey cheese. I appreciated that it was served piping hot. The kitchen was backed up and it took awhile for the burger. Our server checked in a few times to keep us updated and apologized for the delay. The spicy pepper jack burger with sour cream and onion fries was very good. The burger was very large so we were glad we split.

Yelp
Revere's is a staple of downtown Delafield. Outside patio? Check. Seasonal menus? Check. Daily Specials? Check. Group seating? Check. DOGS?! Check. BYOB aka Build Your Own Burger on Monday is a classic. Their burgers are large, juicy, and you can't beat the toppings they offer. My coworkers and I come to Reveres at least once a month. You can never go wrong with the cheese curds, buffalo chicken sticks, burgers, and their wraps. They offered 3 different fall menus before the end of October. Amazing, who doesn't love seasonal items?! My group had the bacon wrapped dates, smiley barn burger, butternut squash ravioli, and the chicken pot pie. All from the fall menu. Portions are large and we had plenty of leftovers. The bacon wrapped dates and the chicken pot pie were the winners. The bacon wrapped dates were sweet with the perfect balance of salty. The arugula salad was the perfect pairing. I loved the pot pie. It was hearty and the biscuit was covered with cheese. Overall, my experiences at Reveres have been great. I highly recommend a stop if you're in the area.

Jeanette H.

Yelp
Hamburger's not made but cooked from a frozen patty. A "double wine" Riesling for $17.00 per glass. The only (and I mean only) redeeming menu item is the house made potato chips. When chips is the best made thing on the menu, you know the end is nigh . . . or you've eaten in the town of Stepford.

Yelp
It's a nice place but the food is mediocre. Given it a few tries now and it's just OK. For this type of food there are better options in my opinion. I'm sure we will go back eventually but we're in no hurry.
