Had the pleasure of dining at this place as we were staying at the hotel but had a great time. The server and manager was super friendly and helpful so they get 5 stars! I had the Lamb chops which weee good and cooked perfectly! Wish I had some mint jelly but they did not have any We also got the Pirlou which is almost like a paella. It was ok but could have used allot more flavor. I would rate that 3 stars The dragonfly spritzer cocktails were really good and refreshing. Worth ordering if you want something light and refreshing The she crab soup was really good! The sourdough bread was good and had a light grill on it. As a whole the experience was good and everything seems to be fresh. Good spot to check out and the hotel attached is really cool and has a funky gallery!

Google
I highly recommend this restaurant and dishes that we ordered; Low Country Pirlou, Halibut, and Chicken Roulade. The freshness of ingredients and flavor profiles were exceptional. The Low Country Pirlou had chunks of crab that I loved! The spices on the chicken roulade have nutty/curry flavor and the purple potatoes were great. We were split on the key lime pie. I really enjoyed it, as I usually don’t choose this dessert. It was the opposite for the other party who frequently orders. The service was great and the staff attentive. The atmosphere was modern and had artwork on the walls (and an art exhibition that connected). My husband recommends the fellas take a trip to the restroom. It made him chuckle.

Great experience at Revival on our girls trip. The cocktails and entrees were wonderful. I had the shrimp and pea pasta and it was delicious. My friends had the pirlou and loved it as well. Key lime pie & crème brûlée for dessert was a great end (thanks for 1 for free for my birthday!) Service was timely and friendly. Justin was helpful when we had a reservation issue. I have recommended to others (friends dined last weekend!) and would return again.

Google
Unbelievable in every way! Food was amazing, Sarah was an incredibly gracious server who made our experience so special, and the chef even prepared some fresh croissants for us (when he so easily could have just said, ‘Sorry, we’re out!’) It’s difficult to find high quality food and service these days— do not skip on this place! It is a gem! Oh, and you absolutely must get the crab soup and crab cake! Some of the best crab I’ve had! Thank you all so much!

Google
We went for our anniversary. Our server Lexi was great & all of the staff were very friendly & attentive! Ordered the Pirlou & so glad we did. They were great with my gluten allergy & even had chocolate flourless cake.

Emily Brice

Google
The food was gorgeous and delicious! The Pirlou was absolutely amazing and the filet mignon was the most perfect steak I’ve ever had. The foie gras had pop rocks in it and it was so unique and absolutely amazing. The shecrab soup was super yummy and creamy. And the cheesecake and crème brûlée for desert were perfection. But the best part of the meal was Matt the server. He made our experience super special and definitely made our evening special. They were also accommodating to me being in a wheelchair and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Matt is a shining star and the restaurant and the food were amazing! We can’t wait to come back!

Google
The most delicious meal ever! The best flavors and textures and gluten free options! Sara and Justin were fabulous!

Google
We had the joy of celebrating our anniversary trip here. They greeted us knowing it was anniversary and we received a card and champagne to celebrate. The chicken and venison were both very enjoyable. The best part to us was the octopus appetizer. Absolutely wonderful flavor! The atmosphere was modern and we enjoyed looking at all the art. Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable.

Yelp
Kristen took care of us very well. Good recommendations on the food which was very good, she crab soup and Pirlou.

Yelp
Everything was delish. Grilled sourdough bread was wonderful. Maybe the best she-crab soup I ever ate. The creamed corn with Benton's Bacon was AMAZING (iykyk). The Velvet Elvis dessert with yet MORE Benton's Bacon was to-die for. Shout out to server Haley for being awesome.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Our waiter, Vic, was amazing and knew the menu inside and out. We highly recommend the she crab soup,Pirlou, fig and prosciutto salad, and the grouper. It was a great dying experience. I highly recommend!

Yelp
We stopped into Revival around 5:30 on a Saturday night. There wasn't anyone else in the restaurant, so we weren't sure if it was open to the public or not. We ordered the she crab soup, the low country Pirlou and the steak. The soups was great, and the rest of our meal was good. I definitely think they charge too much for what it was. With so many other dining options in the area, I don't know if we will be back.

Yelp
This spot is well known as an upscale spot to go for a good meal. Sadly, this wasn't quite the treat we had hoped for. We went with a very seasoned group of Charleston restaurant patrons. Reservations were made a good month or so in advance. All parties were present and on time. We were seated and noticed immediately that the menu was shorter than the menu online, and the waitstaff came over to let us know we would be offered a prefix menu, something like a restaurant week menu. We were told that we were informed of this change, via text at 5pm. Even if this text was known, how do you get reservations on a Saturday night at 7pm with a party of 8, especially for an upscale evening out? We politely explained to Jonathan, our server, that we would prefer to have the regular menu - he promptly brought it to us and we all ordered what we wanted. Jonathan was great throughout the evening. Venison, Chicken, and Fish entrees were ordered. The chicken was stellar and what I came for, so very pleased. But, the fish: all 4 people at the table of 8 that ordered it complained of it being dry, rendering it not edible. I tasted my husband's and agreed - and when you overcook fish, especially the whole table, it's hard to move on from that - especially when a couple is spending $200 to $300 for their evening. The wine and cocktails were delicious, I had the fig Proscuitto salad - also amazing. The Elvis was a fun dessert that we all tasted - but when the most expensive part of the meals is so-so, it's hard to want to go back.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous food! Reserve ahead as they book up. We had the grilled octopus and beans appetizer, which we do enjoy, and it was amazing! Entrees were shrimp and grits-literally the best we have ever had- and the gnocchi which was also amazing. The key lime pie was delicious! Had several cocktails all were great! Highly recommend!

Yelp
It was very expensive, and the portions were somewhat small, I wouldn't recommend. The lobster and shrimp dish was subpar. Seafood was bland, and the rice underneath was overcooked and kind of dry. Halibut tasted frozen (for this price I expect fresh!) or just overcooked. It was a bit bland as well. Looked pretty on the plate. Pork belly was very tiny and the piece we got was almost ALL fat. The brussel sprouts were good. The service was very good. Ambiance was OK. White table cloth and nice chairs, but the wall decor didn't fit. There were only a few tables full on a Sunday evening.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Best dinner we've had in Charleston. First the atmosphere is relaxing and intimate. John our server was attentive, engaging and made some wonderful suggestions. The chicken dish was the best chicken I've ever had. The sear and then the moisture of the meat was just so flavorful. The pecan pie with Pappy Van Winkle was over the top good.

Yelp
Just left revival for their Valentine's Day dinner...the menu its self was sparse...it was a set 3 course meal with 3 selections each... the 6 items we had...all were DELICIOUS...the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
Pass. 3 glasses of wine, 2 apps, 2 entrees for $200? I would like more than sauces that make everything one single flavor, overcooked duck, and service that can explain a cocktail menu or be attentive. Oh, and bread for the table is an extra charge. With so many better options downtown, look elsewhere. This place is basic fare dressed up and overpriced.

Sarah H.

Yelp
My husband and I have eaten here twice. The first visit was delicious! We thought it would become one of our favorites. Staff is wonderful and ambience is lovely. Swordfish and the duck were stellar. The second time left a lot to be desired and I can only imagine they had an "off" day as our first visit was so positive. Both of our courses were improperly cooked and not seasoned well. The dessert was inedible for me that day also. I do believe there are better options in the area, however, it was nice to try something new and believe it was worth a visit. If every visit was like our first, we'd definitely be repeat customers.

Yelp
The food was cold and both meats were prepared at the wrong temp. The service was lack luster. Only checked on once. No personality. Awful...Awful...Awful! We could not be more disappointed!

Yelp
Best Birthday Night Surprise dinner. From the moment I checked in to seating at our table. What a way of making me feel special. Very attentive service and our server Lucy was AMAZING!! Dinner was the best flavor, presentation and unique twist on bringing all together so nicely. Just A wonderful night to remember. Everything's was just perfect.

Yelp
Get: key lime pie Avoid: nothing in particular, but nothing was incredible (expect dessert) For appetizers we had the sourdough bread and crab cakes. The sourdough bread comes with ham hock butter which is unusual. I think a side of regular whipped butter would also have been nice as the ham hock is quite strong but the bread is good! The crab cakes were fine - not incredible but not bad. For an entree we got the drum catch of the day. It was nice but very large. I liked it but compared to the other fish dishes I've had in Charleston it was one of the least impressive and I felt a bit over cooked. For cocktails we got the Blushing Beauty, it is quite sweet and you wouldn't know there was champagne in there. For dessert: key lime pie. This was the best dish here, it was tart but also sweet - a very smooth and refreshing dish.

Yelp
The group was so excited to visit Charleston! We stayed at the Vendue hotel and went for Revival for drinks and have an amazing time! The bartender Hannah and Server Sara were TOP NOTCH! They both were very charismatic, and accommodating. Our group was very needy and they both had no complaints. if I was to ever visit charleston, I would absolutely come to the vendor hotel and sit at revival bar with Hannah and sara. They were great. ! We will absolutely be returning on our next shift to charleston:)

Yelp
100% recommended! We order the Halibut and Venison, AMAZING! I had the venison and it honestly could be one of the best meat dishes I have ever had. My wife ordered the Halibut and it was also very good, she loved it too! The vibe of the restaurant was also great and the service was very good! Highly recommend for dinner and a great location that is very walkable!

Yelp
If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. The food was phenomenal, but the service was even better. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
We ate here last Saturday for my wife's birthday. The experience was unfortunately disappointing given everything we had heard and read about his restaurant. Our waitress was good but didn't seem to be too knowledgeable of the menu like other fine dining restaurants we've been to. My wife loved the Dragonfly Spritz cocktail that she ordered and I'd have to say that was the highlight of the experience. For our entrees, I ordered the grouper and she ordered the Pirlou. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our food and I would have been fine with that had the food not been cold. My grouper was not only cold but lacked flavor too. My wife said her Pirlou had decent flavor but the food was also cold and the rice was too crispy. We also got a side of okra and while the charred flavor of the okra was nice, it also lacked seasoning. We finished the meal off with the key lime pie which was one of the weirder dessert experiences I have had. The dessert had good flavor but instead of tasting like key lime, we were convinced we were eating banana creme pie. Maybe it was just a bad night for the kitchen but we left very disappointed and won't be back.

Yelp
Great meal and a fun funky atmosphere. From the red gorilla at the entrance to the rather unusual urinal in the rest room, you know that you are in for a fun twist this evening. I started my meal with the fried oysters, even though it is not oyster season right now. They were perfect. Great cornmeal crust and juicy inside. Served over a slightly spicy corn mixture. It packed a lot of flavor. My wife ordered the she-crab soup that she said was delicious. There was not a drop left in the bowl. My main course was the Low Country Pirlou. I never had a Pirlou before. So, I can't compare it. But, I can tell you it was tasty. It has a gentle, light, buttery flavor. Not heavy at all. I cannot say that the fish stood out. But, the overall mix was quite pleasing. My wife's Shrimp and Grits was outstanding. Extremely well prepared. One of the best grits I ever had. Service was fun and impeccable. I recommend highly. (Ladies, ask some guy you're with to take a picture of the urinal. No, not what you use the urinal with, just the urinal. It will be worth it.)

Yelp
Highly rated so was expecting amazing food, but sadly our experience fell short. Weird vibe and some misses with the food. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3.5 Cost to worth it rating: 3 (entrees ~$30-40) Opentableable: no but resy Return worthiness: no Highlights: - Seafood pirlou: haven't had this dish before and it was nice. Fresh variety of lobster, crab, shrimp, and fish over Carolina gold rice. Nice presentation and clean flavors. 4 stars - Roasted vegetable salad: good mix of veggies from eggplant to squash go fennel and simple with only olive oil. 3.5 stars - Flourless chocolate cake: standard slice of dense chocolate. 3 stars - Drinks: had interesting cocktails and nice champagne by the glass - Service: waitress was friendly and attentive - Dining room: simple room with tables and cool colorful art on the walls that vibe with the hotel. I mean there was a huge red gorilla at the restaurant entrance. It was fun and different and I dug it. - Same hotel with the vendue rooftop bar so easy to pop up there for a post-dinner drink Midlights: - Atmosphere: I was down with the decor, but the vibe didn't match. There was no energy or life in the dining room which was especially strange for a Thursday night in this lively, fun town. - Specialty bread: sounded interesting with Carolina gold rice and sourdough but it was just chewy like a mochi muffin but not gluten free. The miso ham hock butter was mellow and salty and sweet. 3 stars - Duck: my husband enjoyed it and was cooked fine but was lacquered in a dark sauce and the meat was so salty I found it inedible. 3 stars Lowlights: - Fried rice: duck fat, ham, shrimp, togarashi, and benne seeds sounds like a cool Asian southern combo, but again predominate flavor was monotone oversalted so I couldn't enjoy it. 2 stars For our only dinner in Charleston after 5 years, I left disappointed. It was ok, but not all I hoped for one of my favorite food cities.

Yelp
Although the kitchen had hiccups with getting the food out, what we received was delicious. We started with the peach buratta salad, it was yummy the sweet sourness of the peaches was a great complement to the creaminess of the buratta. I had the halibut, perfectly cooked, the puréed beets and carrots along with the pistachio crust was perfection. My husband had the shrimp and forbidden grits(rice) was well cooked with a Taso gravy. We LOVED the creamed corn! I also want to give a special shout out to our server Lucy, who showed grace under stress with a slow kitchen and misfired meal. She was sweet and made sure that we were advised of issue.

Mary A.

Yelp
We had a most pleasant experience at Revival last evening. First of all the menu has been updated---not just new dishes since our last visit, but tweaks to the most popular dishes. The Shrimp and Grits which formerly had black rice as a component now has blue corn grits on the plate. The Pirlou entree also has been updated. Two of the diners were very happy with these dishes! My entree of Roasted Halibut on a plate with pureed carrots, beets, and squash was nicely prepared, moist, and flavorful. We ended the meal with a slice of pecan pie---a very Southern touch! Our server, Sara was very attentive, efficient, helpful and very knowledgeable about the food and wine.

Yelp
From the artwork on the wall to the food on the table, this place absolutely slaps. Worth the price. Hit the rooftop after your dinner for a cocktail (or 5) and a view of our Holy City. Our server (Victor, I believe) was the man.
google avatar

Yelp
We had gone one a Charleston food tour earlier in the day and our tour guide had talked to us about Charleston Gold Rice. We had asked him what restaurant had the best rice dish in the city and he said hands down Revival. Y'all. The Pirlou was one of the most delicious things I have eaten in a long time. Everyone absolutely devoured their meal and we had the best server but I can't remember her name right now. I think it started with a T and she was blonde. Anyways if you get the chance to go here then jump on it. I'll definitely be back and just really enjoyed the vibe!

Greg M.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Great atmosphere. Vic was an excellent server. Highly recommend. Solid wine list by the glass

Yelp
We had an absolute terrible experience here with the exception of our server Sara. We got there a tad early for our 5:15 reservation and really looked forward to eating here. We got drinks fairly quickly snd the old fashioned wasn't great but I drank it. Ordered appetizers and the bread came out first. It took another 1/2 hour or more for our appetizers to come out. We put in our dinner order at 6:00. At 7pm we still didn't have our main courses. We had a carriage tour scheduled for 7:30 thinking 2 hours would have been plenty of time. It wasn't. For what we actually ate, it was mediocre at best. They took care of our bill to be fair but we left hungry without a back up place to go. Their kitchen can't get a meal out in time which shows how disheveled the back of the house really is. I do not recommend even in the slightest. The 2 stars are for Sara who was at the mercy of a badly run kitchen.

Yelp
We had such a fun Restaurant week experience!! We've been to the rooftop at Vendue many times prior to this dinner and had always walked by and wondered and I'm so happy we finally made the excuse to break the ice! Everything was so tasty and of great/perfect portion size! Our service was just enough and well paced. It's so much fun to have a fancy night out downtown every once in a while!
google avatar

Yelp
Let me start out with the good parts: 1. AMAZING Brussel sprouts 2. Fire creamed corn now the mid-grade: 1. Osso buco - the sweet potato gnocchi was great, the sauce was 4.5/5 (it was broken though), and the meat was very dry Bad bad bad: 1. Steak - The steak here is absolutely terrible. I've had filet from Kroger that's a better cut of meat. I mean it's hamburger meat y'all. And it really grinds my gears when a nice restaurant can't make a good steak.
google avatar

Annie S.

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect, but my meal was INCREDIBLE!! I had the filet mignon (medium well) and it could melt in your mouth. It wasn't overwhelmed by sauce or butter, it was perfectly coated. We also had the lemon cake, which was perfect to have after the meal because it was light, flavorful, and refreshing. The service was good, attentive, and friendly. The ambiance was good as well, great and contemporary artwork to look at on every wall. The price was definitely worth the experience, I highly recommend!

Margaux S.

Yelp
Never have posted a review before but I feel compelled to....My mom spent half the night getting fish bones out of her throat from the special.

Daisy C.

Yelp
Beautiful establishment, great atmosphere and our server Vic was great. My husband had the Cashew encrusted Halibut with papas bravas and I had the shrimp and grits, both were delicious and for dessert we share the key lime pie and of the best
google avatar

Yelp
Good high-end restaurant in Charleston with something for everyone. Fried oysters were memorable. Crab cakes were delicious but small. Pickled shrimp (?) struck me as experimental but it still was good. Tuna duo needs something more to make it pop. Lowcountry Pirlou (aka perlou, perloo, perlew) should be the highlight of the menu but it was a disappointment. Where I was expecting a hearty, substantial dish, there was barely any rice at all and the sauce had no viscosity, it was just saffron-infused water with some melted butter. While $37 isn't exorbitant these days, there is room for improvement. Service was good and roughly 90 minutes elapsed for three courses.
google avatar

Patty S.

Yelp
It's so hard choosing restaurants in Charleston, since there are so many. I'm glad I booked Revival. One if the reasons, to be honest, is the ease of making the reservation. I didn't have to wait 30 days prior. I also went off of reviews and the menu. We really liked this restaurant. It is simple decor with white tablecloths. The wine list is short and curated with varietals from different regions. We settled on a cab franc from France. We ordered several appetizers and a few entrees, which they paced out. The sourdough bread is a must. The she crab soup was good, but maybe needed more seasoning? We really liked the crab cakes and the picked shrimp and watermelon. I wish the oyster mushroom dish had more oyster mushrooms. The shrimp and grits and pirlou were very tasty, but the star of the show was the Italian lemon cake dessert. We got two pieces. This dessert is fantastic. The spinach and rice sides were very bland. And while the service was good, they definitely didn't perfect that dance of removing the silverware properly between courses that some restaurants do with ease. I think this place is pretty solid.

Yelp
Located inside of historic Vendue Inn , Revival delivers high quality locally sourced ingredients in a swank , modern space . We tried the prosciutto and pickled melon , oysters and the pan seared grouper . All dishes were delicious! Our server was attentive and efficient . It was a great dining experience and I will be back . PS: the hotel also offers a nice rooftop bar :)

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place to dine & enjoy amazing food and service!!! Top notch service from Vic, & the supporting staff, mgmt, etc. We loved everything from appetizers (the crab cakes!!) to dessert & the espresso martini!! Loved it!! Tom, Jeremy & Jessica HI VIC!!!!

Yelp
This was the most overpriced, bland and tasteless meal I have had in my entire 50 plus years on the planet. Even their infused cocktails were tasteless (how can that even be?!?). Usually, when a restaurant doesn't have salt and pepper on the table it means they pay particular attention to seasoning but this place clearly does not. The bread came with a miso ham hock spread that had actual ham hock gristle in it. I mean like a serious hunk of charred, fatty rubber that was rubbery (and tasteless). The crab soup was somehow both slightly iodine/fishy and tasteless in a creme sauce without a hint of any sherry, Amontillado or otherwise. The seafood pirlou was supposed to be butter poached yet had no seasoning whatsoever to the point where we had to ask for lemon and salt and pepper just to make it edible. The absence of saffron was so noticeable that we wondered why it was even mentioned. The halibut was pistachio crusted and that wasn't even seasoned. Having recently returned from Barcelona I can tell you that in no way had this pirlou ever met let alone been next to a Romesco sauce. And the ossobuco while tender was bland and lacking any flavor though it was supposedly in a bordelaise sauce (a French cook would have screamed). Truly amazing feat to make that dish tasteless. The one positive was the filet which had some flavor, though it too was done no favors with a flavorless Demi glaze of it's own and not even a hint horseradish creme fraiche let alone truffle butter. We are not food snobs nor are we unforgiving of a busy restaurant turning out an occasional mediocre dish. However, this experience was so well-coordinated in its total lack of taste that it seems almost intentional as if the entire kitchen staff had Covid or the theme was how to make anything taste like nothing. It became an ongoing joke for the entire vacation. Smell that? What? I can't smell anything. That's Revival. So at the risk of being just a little snarky for my $350 meal for 4, this is one Revival that should have stayed dead. Our next night at Magnolia showed us what low country cooking should be and it's just across the street. I'd suggest you go there.

Yelp
Our server Kara was fantastic. Super sweet and attentive! It's a solid 3.5 star place. The highlight of the night: Martinique. Such a great cocktail. We had she crab soup, crab cakes, creamed corn, Carolina rice, and sourdough bread. Crab cakes were amazing! Sourdough bread was solid. Can skip the she crab soup. Lemon cake sealed the deal at the end of the meal.

Yelp
Customer service is top-notch. We were welcomed and thanked for choosing them. We were seated in a timely manner, clean linen tablecloths for every table change. Waitstaff, Summer, was professional, knowledgeable, and personable. All staff were hands on as the restaurant was full and everyone was having a good time. Food is exceptional, we had the low country seafood, which I highly recommend. We shared a orange creme Brule, a perfect ending for a memorable evening! When we visit Charleston, we will definitely return.

Yelp
If there is a theme to the food scene of Charleston, it is certainly the revival of ingredients that have been lost, finding the seeds and the recipes that built the origins to the food culture of the South. Relative to some of the established places like Fig and Husk, Revival is a more recent effort that aims to continue this theme. Walking into Revival, there is a sense of comfort with a very reasonable level of noise and a light colored design that is contrasting to almost every other restaurant in town. There is a wine list, but a very light one with some pleasant selections, but essentially a bottle per style/major region combination. Pahlmeyer Sauvignon Blanc was one of the more interesting and reasonably priced bottles on the menu. The wine list contains quite a few land mines, with bottles being up charged at 3x retail, which is quite high for Charleston. One of the initial observations as a guest, whether true or not, is that there isn't a connection to ingredients here. Nobody knows where scallops are from, but somehow they are the fresh catch of the day. "Fresh Catch" is a very specific term and it does not just mean that the item is fresh, but that it has not been frozen and it was brought from the boat this morning. Unless that's the case, it should more appropriately be called Special of the Day. Crab cakes were well executed, simple and meaty. The signature dish of lowcountry pirlou was not a bad one, but she seafood was rather tasteless and did not present the impression of freshness at all, particularly the shrimp, whose closest parallel was a shrimp round from a grocery store. The sauce in the pirlou was insanely buttery, so not necessarily bad, but for a certain taste. The grouper dish was also prepared well, but the grouper was far from freshly caught and likely pre-frozen. Again, a good dish and a great compliment to the wine, but not something to get again and largely tasteless, especially considering how a grouper should be this close to the ocean. Even the flowers on the table are not real, which is a bit sad. In summary, Revival is not a place that one should not avoid by any means, yet it is also not a place to make an effort to visit. It seemed that every dish did not taste the way it should and the quality of ingredients needs additional effort, despite the fact that the kitchen did a great job preparing.

Yelp
Ambiance Service Food This restaurant was in my Charleston collection for a while and I finally got a chance to visit yesterday. It did not disappoint!! First things first, we went shortly after they opened so it was pretty quiet but we saw it get busier as we ate. The restaurant is beautiful Our server Lucy (I hope I got that right) was amazing! The food was great Book your reservation now

Yelp
Made a last minute reservation and we are so glad we did. Everything was fantastic,Vic took excellent care to f us and the food and drinks were delicious. Definitely recommend

Yelp
The portion of this horrible establishments food is incredibly small especially for the duck that tastes like dog food. Everything sucked besides the Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts. The service was ok but the waiter didn't serve me win. The ambiance was alright but when I went to the men's bathroom the color of the light was red which me go crazy therefor the ambiance was alright. Overall I had a traumatic experience and I would rather go to McDonald's . Even grimace treated me better. -ps lower your prices

Yelp
Very nice restaurant in the first floor of the Vendue. White tablecloth place, would definitely dress up. Our server Lucy was so great and attentive. Wine was great. Started with the peach buratta salad which was divine. The sweetness of the peach contrasted with the saltiness from the prosciutto and buratta was wonderful. I had the chicken which had a really nice crust. Flavoring was okay.

Yelp
Good service. Ok food. She crab soup good but served Luke warm. Crab cake tasty but dainty Sea Bass overcooked. Grouper ok. Braised ribs overcooked. I see a trend. Deserts very good. Crème Brûlée and key lime Provided feedback and that was that.

Yelp
Great service, awesome decor and well cooled food. Nothing here delighted me but everything was still done well. You're going to get a good meal here. It's going to be pricy. For me, the 7 dishes reminds me of a good Chinese dish, cooked with skills (the plumness of mussels were great. Yet at the same time for $85 per person I wanted more "wow" which dinner get.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by our hotel staff. They should get a medal. What a great place. To start: interesting art as you walk in. Unforgettable cocktail: the Highlander, a single malt Scotch connoisseur's delight. Then appetizers: crab cakes with a delicious complementary surprising sauce, and salad grounded in speck with baby greens, shaved red onions, feta. My companion chose shrimp perfectly grilled served over forbidden black rice grits. I had the special: crispy -skin, melting perfect sea bass over a risotto with corn kernels, heirloom cherry tomatoes, mushrooms. We loved Revival. The service was professional, smooth, quick, friendly.

Yelp
Thank you, Revival staff and management. Our party of 14, to celebrate our sons marriage proposal, was delightfully satisfied with the food, service, and ambiance for the Friday dinner. The attention to detail by Terell (management) and Kara (wait staff) was incredible as both made the experience simple and enjoyable the entire evening. Our guests from Tulsa OK (the family of our sons girlfriend) were visiting Charleston for the first time making this experience critical to their initial impressions of the Holy City. Thank you for the hard work, professionalism, and the warm and welcoming attitudes from all that we interacted with leaving a 5-star recommendation without hesitation. Well done!

Yelp
Super popular restaurant in a nice hotel downtown Charleston, these places can be kind of intimidating to go to, but I'm so glad we finally tried this place! The staff was super nice and the food was amazing. Got the duck confit risotto and it was so good! The creme brûlée dessert really stole the show though! A little bit pricey, but that's what you expect at a place like this, it was worth it. Give it a try!

Yelp
The ahi tuna appetizer was the most amazing combination of food I've ever put in my mouth! Have you ever had a serving of food that is so good, you eat it very slowly so the flavors won't end? This is it!!!!! Warning, there is a $5 charge for the bread and it was sort of hard and tasteless, so I don't recommend it.

Yelp
Charleston is known as a haven for foodies with an endless list of great restaurants. I've tried a lot of them, but one of the newest kids on the block is going to earn my badge for best restaurant in Charleston. If you come to town, GO TO REVIVAL! Open only two years, Revival takes the traditions of Charleston's food scene - seafood, southern, simple - and perfectly accentuates them with simultaneous simplicity and upscale elegance like only a great chef could. We started our meal with two highly recommended seafood appetizers, the oysters casino and the she-crab soup. The oysters were tender, baked under a buttery garlic breadcrumb batter with hidden gems of thick-cut bacon and a dash of cayenne. The soup was a creamy bisque with just a hint of amontillado sherry and ample lump female crab meat at peak freshness. The soup and several dishes were decorated with edible flowers. This is not a restaurant where you're left scouring the bowl for occasional pieces of crab. When I say ample, I mean it! They don't hold back on the seafood here! With a difficult choice in main courses - because everything looked good - I settled on the ever popular Lowcountry Pirlou. If you've never had it, Pirlou is a dish unique to the Carolinas akin to Louisiana's jambalaya, made with wildly different variations. Needless to say, Revival's interpretation was magnificent, including the customary shrimp but more upscale with hearty chunks of succulent lobster and crab replacing the usual sausage and clams. With crispy rice and sweet peas, the sauce was such buttery perfection it had me fishing out every last pea - a vegetable I don't even like - and even dipping other items into the sauce until it was all gone! Take my advice, you'll want to order at least two fingerling potato sides, crispy little potatoes fried in duck fat! Many upper class restaurants are doing the duck fat thing now, and the flavor and texture are absolutely amazing! The creamed corn and the mac and cheese are alright. Everything else is a perfect ten! Dessert was a South Carolina favorite; key lime pie. I make this at home so I have lofty standards for such a dish. The key - no pun intended - to the perfect key lime pie is a beautiful overtone of lime, strong enough to satisfy citrus lovers, but not so overpowering that it sours the entire dish. The pie should be light, creamy, and airy while remaining thick and luscious, almost an impossible oxymoron. No surprise, Revival pulled this off impeccably! The graham cracker crust was perfect, as were the berry sauces on the side. This rivals the best I've eaten in Key West! Thank you Revival for making our anniversary perfect!
