For the first time ever I had a Disappointing Experience Today at Revolution Doughnuts located in City of Decatur/Kirkwood on North College Ave.
I wasn’t aware this establishment’s hours on Thursdays were 7 AM-2 PM mainly because the OPEN sign was lit as I was waking towards the door. I arrived at 1:58PM, parked right in front of the door, and walked to place my hand on the door just as two employees rushed to lock it right in front of me. It was clear they saw me approaching, but instead of offering a greeting or an apology, they turned their backs and continued working as if I wasn’t standing there with my hand on the door.
I was hoping to treat the amazing teachers and staff at my child’s school with your donuts, but it seems they’ll have to settle for Krispy Kreme—a business that doesn’t lock doors in customers’ faces as they walk up.
I used to enjoy your donuts back when I lived closer, but after today’s display of poor customer service, I’ll be finding another place to support—hopefully one that values all customers equally.
It’s disappointing how moments like these highlight the divisive effects of gentrification, where certain community members feel excluded or disregarded. Better treatment could go a long way in retaining loyal patrons, but for now, I’ll take my business elsewhere.
