The Dining Room at The Guesthouse

"What happens when a home design brand dynamo opens a hotel and restaurant? You get this swanky spot, of course. Just around the corner from RH's flagship in the Meatpacking District, this guesthouse and dining room endeavor to make guests feel like they're being welcomed to a private home. As expected, it's styled with that handsome modern look synonymous with the brand. The focused menu is carefully curated, with a small selection of contemporary dishes with live fire elements and unfussy flair. Though far from inexpensive, dishes are executed with precision and utilize quality ingredients. Caviar-studded starters kick things off in style, then opt for the whole wood-grilled branzino. Cap off the meal with butterscotch crème brûlée." - Michelin Inspector

This restaurant is beautiful and so are the bathrooms! To be expected by Restoration Hardware… the food is good but a little inconsistent… the Asian salad was disappointing , stick to the fried Chicken sandwich which was so tasty my mouth is watering writiny this review! Fries great and the margaritas so good. Ill be going back asap! But avoid the salads, only LA does incredible salads 🥗 oh and the crispy artichokes are not to be missed!

We had an amazing time at the restaurant. The food was exceptionally good. We had avocado with caviar. Lobster roll with caviar, that melts in your mouth and the burratta. For our mains, we had the Wagyu which was amazing ,right temperature ,cut ,taste, everything perfect . We had the sweet potatoes and the truffle fries both exceptionally good. And then for dessert we had the butterscotch Brulé and grapefruit sorbet. Cannot wait to go back.. The hostess was friendly and greeted us when we walked in. The managers were very attentive. Our Server checked on us several times through the night. Service was great ,ambience and decor was very sophisticated and elegant. A must visit place.

Dinner at the guest house was simple and beautiful. The Guesthouse space was perfectly balanced, It felt intimate and cozy, but still carried an air of elegance. The food overall was savory and well done. I ordered the Westholme Australian Wagyu Ribeye—it was rich and cooked perfectly, but it had a strong smoked flavor that wasn’t really my thing. The sweet potato fries were just right, crispy on the outside and soft inside. And the avocado caviar was light, fresh, and a perfect way to start the meal. The dessert had me saying I was full… but I kept dipping my spoon in for more. The banana had this slightly caramelized texture that almost reminded me of the fun of cracking into a crème brûlée. Side note… I loved the bathrooms. Each stall is completely enclosed with its own little sink and mirror. It’s tiny, but the full privacy made it feel way more elevated than your usual restaurant setup.

Food was good but not great, very evident that you are paying to go to Restoration Hardware. Chicken salad (pictured) was a piece of chicken breast on top of some lettuce, whereas rotisserie chicken was the same chicken but with a side of arugula instead. Our service was very run of the mill, nothing outstanding. Then came time for them to cut the birthday cake we brought. They gave us candles and cut 4 slices. We were charged $40 for that in 4 separate $10 charges, 1 for each slice. A ridiculous surcharge that ruined the already lacking dining experience. If you want to go to a cool brand to eat, there are many other places in New York to try, and if you actually want great food worth it's value, this place should be skipped. If it is your birthday, avoid this spot like the plague!

We enjoyed our experience however the food was good but nothing to brag about. Perhaps our favorite was the caviar service. I’d only recommend this restaurant if you want caviar.

10s 10s 10s across the board. My lobster roll and salad was yummy. The quality of my meal was worth the price point. My waitress was friendly and it was easy to get a reservation. It’s great for a date night, anniversary or birthday. The only thing I would give push back on is the no photos allowed. When we tried to take photos in the lobby the security told us it’s not allowed.

Always have a great lunch at the dining room with my friends. The staff is gorgeous inside and out. My friends always get the rotisserie chicken salad and u love the grilled shrimp ( avocado, corn, and asparagus). Plus the bathrooms are stocked with Le Labo products. Will be back again!

The food is great. There’s a ton server was more than kind to answer all our questions. The service is a bit slow compared to most restaurants. But everything was absolutely delicious. Great location near the Chelsea Market area.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful! We got the grilled shrimps (not pictured), which was a bit too charred for my preference. I still enjoyed it. For my main, I got the lobster roll. It was fresh and the roll itself was very buttery. Pretty solid! I got the red juice, which was made of apple, ginger, beets, orange, and pineapple. It was beets forward. It was $15, not sure if that's worth it, but I liked it.

Yelp
Wow what a stunning restaurant! This is the epitome of a classy, date-night vibe. I'll come here just to experience the vibes again. Service was also fantastic. This was fine-dining level service! Most importantly thought, the food was top notch. - Lobster roll with caviar: 100/10 (perfection. No other words needed.) - Chinese chicken salad: 100/10 (also perfection. I'll come here just to eat the salad.) - Branzino: 10/10 (decent branzino that's cooked well.) - Wine: 10/10 (fantastic recommendations.)

Yelp
From entry to exit......perfection Christopher, our waiter, executed our entire experience with finesse, wit and warmth From the Grilled avocado topped with caviar and crème fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned branzino, roasted chicken, and grilled asparagus to the fresh and incredibly delicious strawberries with homemade Chantilly creme and bananas foster, I have to say, everything and everyone surpassed my expectations Moving forward, RH Guesthouse will definitely be one of my staple restaurants in Manhattan

Yelp
Ambiance: 10/10 one of the prettiest restaurants I've ever been to. Classy, elegant, and everything in between. Food: -wagyu ribeye was very flavorful and tender/ juicy -grilled avocado with caviar: very interesting concept, and the combo surprisingly went very well together Service: great attentive staff The only complaint I have is the martini I got was very subpar, but everything else was phenomenal. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Looking for a classy brunch with friends in the Meat Packing District? This is the place to go. The decor is stunning, and the outdoor covered patio is so nice. It is heated and covered. The staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations. The Pancakes are a MUST ORDER. The American breakfast has a huge portion and is delicious. The bagel and lox was also very tasty. The Belgian waffle was also very tasty... but the pancakes were the best. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

Yelp
My boyfriend had been here once before and raved about their grilled avocado with caviar plate so we decided to come back with a friend for brunch! Sat in the enclosed sunroom where it was quiet. That changed within the hour but we enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing time throughout nonetheless. The few gentlemen taking care of our table never let the 2 coffees on the table go more than like 40% empty.. Super kind, efficient, and classy service. Drinks and food were brought out quickly but we were never hurried and saw others around us leisurely enjoying their meals as well. Ordered: * 2 Peach Bellinis + 2 Mimosas + 2 Black Coffees * Caesar Salad + Truffle Fries for me * Homemade Potato Chips and Dip with Caviar to share * Grilled Avocado with Caviar for boyfriend * Burrata with Tomatoes and Pesto for boyfriend * American Breakfast from the Hearth for friend * Deconstructed Açaí Bowl for friend I can attest to how magical the bellinis with fresh peach juice were. The fellas loved the coffee and all their brunch choices. I judge a restaurant by their caesar and RH missed the mark because 1. I hate a salad you have to still cut up yourself, 2. the dressing didn't pack a punch. Also wasn't enough of it. Granted, I should have looked up what a 1950s style caesar was so that's on me but I stand by the rest! The burrata also could have used another element or two to jazz it up, especially for the $28 price tag. I was *obsessed* with the chips and dip appetizer, though. Overall it's a more upscale place to grab a higher quality meal off a short and sweet menu (that has a few plant-based entrees which look fabulous.) Lots of seafood + beef plates alike, as well as a separate Champagne & Caviar Bar with caviar-laden, luxurious finger foods.

Yelp
Can't even count how many times I've found an excuse to have a meal here. My go to brunch Service here is so attentive, incredible attention to detail. The decor is grand and modern, I love everything about it. Food is delicious, I haven't had a single bad thing here. The bathrooms are also gorgeous - with Le Labo soap. Love it! Yelp
Wow ! Very very impressed ! I had already been to the RH rooftop but this one is definitely a fav. Such a beautiful intimate date spot. But most importantly the food was incredible. We all actually said there were not one food selection to have complained as per every dish came out to its perfection. I have to say I didn't expect it as per RH rooftop was good but not as great as here at the guest house. We started off with the crispy artichokes -must have! Grilled shrimp and a DELICE DE BOURGOGNE BOARD. All starters were great. As per entree must try the Wagyu ribeye !! This was definitely the highlight for me . It was cooked to perfection with a little crisp on the outer layer yet It literally melt in your mouth on due to how thinly sliced it was grilled. Also for sides the roasted sweet potato was so delicious and the Chinese chicken salad. Great recommendation from the waiter. Wine selection was great but as per cocktail menu would want a little more of a list . Although not a big selection, their Bellini and margarita were quite delicious. For dessert the crème brûlée and banana split was 10/10. Would highly recommend to visit here. Will come again !

Yelp
The ambiance here is perfection! Great place for dinner and drinks and the service was amazing. Definitely get a reservation as the place was packed when we arrived at 9pm on a Friday night.

Yelp
I had high hopes for my birthday celebration at RH Guesthouse, but it was disappointing. While my waiter Chrisan was amazing, the manager refused my request to move from the walkway. The mimosas were great, but the main course was a mess--burnt bacon and undercooked eggs despite specific requests. The manager was dismissive and even gave me a false name. This experience was nothing like the excellent service at their sister restaurant. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend RH Guesthouse.

Yelp
My partner and I strategically met the parents here today because the ambiance is sophisticated enough to be a distraction in clutch moments. Not even kidding. A+ as well on the food and what surely must be the most beautiful open kitchen in all of NYC. Food workers should RUN, not walk to apply here just based on the kitchen conditions alone. Insider Info: Do not, I repeat DO NOT leave without venturing to the bathroom. If you do, you will forgo the feeling of walking into a secret presidential boardroom.

Yelp
Fantastic service & amazing food! The Wagyu ribeye was my favorite dish - the marinade was slightly sweat and it was delicious. It was lunchtime during the week when we went, and it was very quiet. I believe they pick up more for dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
I got dinner here a couple of days ago and had an okay experience. Of course, the ambiance was nice and service was friendly. The seats at the table were super comfortable! However...the menu was limited, and the food was mediocre. How is it that there were half a dozen options for various deep fried potato dishes (French fries, truffle fries, sweet potato fries, etc), and yet there wasn't a single option for a side of vegetables? It would've been great to see just an option for asparagus, Brussels sprouts, or any other vegetable that would pair well with steak.
google avatar

Esther R.

Yelp
Luxurious and romantic ambiance. Recommend coming here for wine & desserts. Food was too overprice. We ordered the avocado caviar which was just a half sliced avocado for $52
google avatar

Karla B.

Yelp
Very nice place makes you want to dress fancy The chips and caviar was good the chips were perfect I didn't like the sour cream touch to it . The avocado and caviar same thing had the sour cream it was mediocre to me . The rest of the group liked it . The crème brûlée was delicious The peppers is a must wow to lick your fingers Branzino and steak were decent The cake would of been perfect if it was a bit moist Sweet potato was great Fries were cool . The bill was quiet up there we ordered a champagne bottle and a bottle of wine . Service was great Bathrooms are down stairs Hope to get invited to the friends and family or soft opening of the champagne and caviar bar.

Yelp
Enjoyed a delicious brunch here this past Saturday, ordered the pancakes and the full American breakfast. The pancakes were thin and didn't need any syrup to fully enjoy. The American breakfast was paired with eggs and toast. The eggs were scrambled perfectly and topped off with chives. The chai latte and aperol spritz were both excellent!
google avatar

Jenny G.

Yelp
The Dining Room of RH Guesthouse serves classic American dishes. We tried the Fresh Burrata, Wagyu Ribeye, Whole Branzino, Coal Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Truffle Fries, and Chocolate Cake. I loved the sweet potatoes that were topped with honey butter and creme fraiche. My least favorite item was the off-menu chocolate cake which tasted like a cheap grocery store cake.

Yelp
Love this place!! Beautiful space, food is delicious and the service is impeccable! I can see me and my friends coming here often this fall/winter.

Yelp
You-gyu, I-gyu... Wagyu! The wagyu ribeye was very good, I appreciate the quality of that particular dish. "Now I....being a man of the world, have eaten some incredible KKCCCC Cccccccc...How do you say the word ?....CAAAVIARR!!" ... Probably over a 1000 times on the steps of the Kremlin & at least once with Katarina in the park. I can honestly say I really enjoyed their caviar, it is $$$ money..( take that how you would like it to mean...because you are right either way. :) Not to fail to mention Dinner company was fabulous ..... mostly because I was there :). Also service was Delightful. Barrata --good not so great XoXO from me 2 me :) images to follow

Yelp
Pretty scenery and great customer service. I would say it's more of a place to meet up and experience the ambiance. The food was decent.
google avatar

Yelp
It came to another level of "WOW" on the menu price after HaSalon! In NYC, you can be overpriced but as long as you serve delicious food, you will survive. Came for lunch, I got the Maitake Mushroom entree, which was dry and flavorless, how can someone ruin the delicious maitake! There's a whole lot of deep-multiple-fried potato came with it. They are crispy and yum but c'mon! I was told the Branzino was good and Cauliflower Steak looks good (entree) Sides: $20 each I'd call it robbery (lol) Truffle Fries side was no truffle tastes. Sweet Potato side was very good. Pepper side was good but probably 3 small pepper being sliced and that was $20. Space is nice regardless.

Yelp
Contrary to some perplexing reviews, my experience at RH Guesthouse's, The Dining Room was nothing short of incredible. Despite my inclination towards harsh criticism, I am genuinely astonished by the exceptional quality I encountered during my visit. Arriving for an early dinner, we had the privilege of having the entire dining room to ourselves. As time passed, the dining room gradually filled, creating an inviting and lively atmosphere that added to the allure of the evening. Our culinary journey commenced with a bottle of champagne, setting the stage for an extraordinary dining experience. The attention to detail and precision exhibited by the staff while opening the bottle delighted my senses in a peculiar yet enchanting manner. Diving into the menu, we indulged in the grilled avocado with caviar and the maitake mushroom. The presentation was nothing short of impeccable, capturing the essence of culinary artistry. The dishes were thoughtfully crafted and flawlessly plated, demonstrating the chef's unwavering commitment to both aesthetic appeal and exceptional taste. It is worth noting that proper attire is required at RH Guesthouse, and adherence to this request contributes to the elevated ambiance of the dining experience. In line with the restaurant's policy, I refrained from taking photographs or sharing the property on social media, honoring their desire for privacy and exclusivity. Please take note of this if you so choose to dine here. RH Guesthouse's, The Dining Room is a testament to the pinnacle of refined dining. From the meticulous presentation to the exquisite flavors, every aspect of the experience exudes elegance and sophistication. It is a refreshing reminder of the artistry and craftsmanship that can be found within the realm of gastronomy.

Yelp
The best breakfast I've had in New York hands down! I was blown away by the AMERICAN BREAKFAST FROM THE HEARTH & AÇAI BOWL. The ingredient quality is out of site: ciabatta bread, organic eggs , Black Forest bacon& crispy potatoes (makes my mouth water thinking about it). The açaí bowl was the best in the city! I cannot wait to go back! You MuST get the Swedish pancakes! They are so thin and delicious! Incredible service. Beautiful inside and outdoor dining area! I highly recommend going here for breakfast- it will not disappoint you.
google avatar

Robin V.

Yelp
My husband and I had a amazing brunch here! We enjoyed their omelette, eggs Benedict, bacon, Swedish pancakes and Creme brulee. Everything was delicious and our server, Jenny, was fabulous. She was very attentive and on point with the recommendations. The ambiance is beautiful as well. Looking forward to coming back!

Devon C.

Yelp
The dining experience started off great, but it quickly turned into a disaster. It was my birthday, and unfortunately, my friend became a bit too intoxicated, so we had to leave. The staff were initially helpful, but then things escalated when they called the police on us. On top of that, I was charged for drinks that we didn't even drink or finish. When I asked to take the drinks with me, I was told they had already been cleared--yet I was still stuck with a $400 bill. This has to be one of the worst birthday experiences I've ever had. I'd like a refund for the drinks we didn't get to enjoy.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with nice ambiance! I enjoyed the "lettuces" salad with goat cheese, the fries, and rotisserie chicken. My friends enjoyed their sandwiches (burger + rotisserie chicken). Another friend got the mushroom and I was able to try some of it. It didn't have much flavor at all. It looks beautiful but lacked flavor. Seemed like it was just salt and pepper with a bit of cheese grated on top. The salad was more flavorful I would skip that and get the other options because everything else was great!
google avatar

Nyjia C.

Yelp
Great experience! The service was impeccable, dining room was aesthetically pleasing, and the food was fantastic.

Yelp
If you love RH rooftop, RH guesthouse is a must. Especially if you are a fan of caviar & champagne. Of course the ambiance lives us to the RH brand so everything is a photo op. Came here for drinks & caviar with the girls but I will definitely be back for date night.
google avatar

Rach S.

Yelp
We came here for a brunch celebration. It is not cheap. It is a very pretty restaurant. We got the eggs, steak, latkes, and lox. The food was all great.

Yelp
I must say this was one of my best dining experiences. My new thing is dining out in the week as I feel it's such a better experience versus the weekend. Well let's take a walk on my journey to RH Guesthouse. Greeted by two young men that made me feel comfortable entering the restaurant. I checked in for a party of two and was seated immediately as my guest was parking her car. (Thank you for great hospitality) I don't think restaurants understand how annoying it feels to hear "we can't seat you until your whole party is here." Sometimes if it's just two guests this is really upsetting. This was a super plus for me we I was seated. I started with a glass of Rose and then place my order and everything that I ate was so delicious and had flavor. The sweet potato was not an item that we ordered but our waiter suggested and boyyyyyy I tell you this was the best sweet potato I have every had.... Hands down!!! Yes..... I'm from the South but baby!!!!!! Let's just say I will be going back and this will be on my order list So this was my no meat week so I ordered the cauliflower steak and truffle fries. 10/10 meal all around. Overall, I will say take your special person out on a date and check out RH Guesthouse!!!!! I will be back!!!!!
google avatar

Frank A.

Yelp
RH Guesthouse, The Dining Room is the more fancy restaurant at Restoration Hardware in Meatpacking. It has good food and service, but it is more for Instagraming than the food. If you want a really good meal go across the street to Pastis.
google avatar

Stephanie V.

Yelp
An amazing brunch to close out the year. Stellar service & ambiance. Great for small groups. The food is good. Black truffles made my French Omelette, without it I'm sure it would be really bland. Be prepared to pay an arm & leg but what else would you expect?
google avatar

Hélène D.

Yelp
Since, I am a fan of RH Rooftop I have been wanting to try out RH Guesthouse. The staff is very friendly and since they have not been opened that long everyone was on point. The decor very modern and cool. The ambiance is very romantic and I have eaten here for dinner and lunch. There is a great seating area outside done with a lot of class and simply beautiful. They have a very good wine and champagne list. The menu is simple and does not have too many choices which is what I like. The food was excellent and you need to try the Butterscotch Crème Caramel for dessert. I can't wait to try out the Caviar Room which was not ready yet. This is definitely one of my fav spot to chill.
google avatar

Tori T.

Yelp
The food, the service the decor everything is impeccable at this restaurant. The pancakes are a must! Their juices are also very refreshing. I really enjoyed their vanilla latte. Every time I visit New York I make it a point to have breakfast here before I leave it is that good!
google avatar

Kirsten B.

Yelp
Terrible service!!!! Very limited choices to eat... Not worth the money and super dissapointing

Yelp
This place is an excellent spot in the meat packing district-- great food, service, and ambience. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Joshua W.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with simple food. Highlight recommend to anyone in the meat packing area. Service was top notch.

Jon S.

Yelp
This is an excellent restaurant. The Yelp hate is entirely misplaced. Is it slightly overpriced, probably, but it's one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city with some of the best service from the leading design company in America. The brunch isn't good. It's great. Every item was knock out. Perhaps the dinner menu is a bit more limited but this is a clear 5/5 brunch and date spot. And if you don't get truffle this and that, it's ultimately consistent with other high end New York establishments.
google avatar

Michelle R. D.

Yelp
I am having hard time trying to understand the concept here at RH Guesthouse. I have eaten at couple of their gallery rooftop locations and I am familiar with their brand but this hotel/restaurant concept is not quite working and I will tell you why; No liquor. At a 'restaurant' at that price point in New York City, you should be able to order liquor, plain and simple. No one cares about the 'emphasis you are trying to put on your wine program'. Food. It is just not good. Chicken was salty, sure it is soft and tender but how can you charge 80$ for chicken then do not deliver the expected quality? Why would you very liberally coat high grade wagyu with sugar? (Their reasoning is that it helps create a nice crust however even a novice bbq chef knows that you do not need sugar to give your steak a nice crust.) Potatoes that came with the mushroom dish were hideous. Truffle fries were cold when they arrived and were way too crispy. Creme brûlée; what was so special about that particular brûlée or the 'birthday cake slice' from a pastry shop that includes 2lbs of sugar in a slice. Is it too hard to make your cake in the house in a more artisanal way? So they make it very apparent that they are not a food/hospitality company from the first moment you taste the food. I am sure a competent culinary team can come up with anything better than that 'Bibb' salad, overly marinated chicken and sweet steak. Service? Spotty, awkward, overcrowded, not a good, fluid experience. Starters came too quick then mains and desserts took forever. Many suits around but not doing much, they didn't touch the table even once. A hospitality company wouldn't survive financially having 7 managers around chitchatting but I guess a furniture company does :) Place is well decorated yes, that is essentially what they do but it falls very short to make up for the bad food, unreasonable prices and spotty service. I don't think any legit reviewer would take them seriously (Pete Wells, Ryan Sutton) and give them a try. It is not even at that caliber, in terms of taste. Give them a try if you want to experience a true cringefest.
google avatar

Simcha W.

Yelp
Service was impeccable, our server was wonderful and attentive.... but the food was awful and way way overpriced. I ordered lox and latkes which came with a sad 4-5 short, thin slices of smoked salmon and 5 quarter sized 'latkes.' The latkes were small thin rounds of hash browns that were pan fried. Not an onion to be found! No where near crispy- they came apart like liquid match sticks. It also came with a disturbing amount of crème fraiche. My husband had the Italian Benedict that came with burnt toast, two slices of prosciutto, and a bit of arugula. the saving grace of the dish were the poached eggs - the sauce was tasteless.

Taylor S.

Yelp
3.5 stars. The taste of the food wasn't anything to write home about. I ordered food on the cheaper side, only got one cocktail, and it still ended up being about 100 per person. A beautiful dining room and some of the best and warmest service I've had in NYC but this still feels like a place where rich people come to feel rich and spend big money. There's a beautiful caviar bar downstairs.

Stacy S.

Yelp
Food & service were great. Decor is beautiful & elegant. Caviar is delicious & champagne fantastic

Sherece H.

Yelp
RH Guesthouse is phenomenal! If you want to splurge, this would be the place. Food was delicious. I dined there for my birthday recently, and it was worth it. The restaurant was full but did not seem that way because it is well spaced. The ambience is beautiful and perfect. The volume level of all the ambient music and the conversation from all the diners was low enough that I you don't have to struggle to converse with your table. This particular location for me is for the mature, low key night out - I am a big fan! I highly recommend.

Pippii P.

Yelp
Need not explain much into details when I am giving RH Guest House 2 stars. Need lots of room for improvement. White gloves services but how could you allow guests to come in with torn jeans ? One sentence described all " high end diner " LOL

Yelp
The environment really does shape the experience and this one is extraordinary! This is a special place, especially because of the intimate seating, design, service, and vibe.

Yelp
Came here with a large group and ordered just about everything on the somewhat limited menu. The food was mediocre as best--the only tasty items were the beet salad appetizer and the truffle fries. Service was good, no complaints. Would not recommend and would not return. Very disappointed.

Lorraine F.

Yelp
My new favorite restaurant in NYC. The two times I dined there were both an amazing culinary experience. The staff was warm and welcoming. They were attentive and helpful with any questions we had about the menu items. The ambiance was beautiful colors, great furniture, and soft music. The Wagyu ribeye steak and the grilled fish dish were the best. Definitely will return very soon.

Yelp
Prices are kind of insanely crazy for the quality and ambience. Service is great. Highly suggest management reassess the price measure here.

Yelp
Great wine, excellent service, nice ambiance, and great truffle fries. The sandwiches my party had they enjoyed. The dessert was good, particularly the caramelized banana. The cake was also very yummy.
