I went here for a tournament, the Colonia Cup, which was contested by four teams - the home town FC Koln , Stoke City from England, Valencia CF from Spain and Porto from Portugal.
The stadium holds 50,000 but on this day there were plenty of empty seats which, I was told, isn't often the case for regular league games. The stadium was built in the 1920s but updated about a decade ago and later given the corporate name that it has today.
The bad thing about the stadium is that it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere, meaning no pre-game drinks in a pub although there are some stands around where you can purchase beer and also some food.
You can catch the tram from downtown to get to the stadium, so that's quite convenient.
