My first time coming here. This place is amazing and does not disappoint. They specialize in sweet bakery products. I had the Jalapeño turtle and the regular,( the Carmel is silky and buttery). Cherry strudel,( man oh man you have to get it and taste it) cherish every bite....the blueberry lemon strudel. This place is premium 👌 you don't have to buy everything, but there is alot to choose from, so we tried several and all of them we amazing. About 6$ per item and well worth it. They are meant to enjoy and not shovel in your mouth. You will want to, but I promise you will miss out. I am dead serious, you can taste the layers of flavor. Let's just say I will be back

I stumbled upon this place and was amazed by the delicious baked goods. As someone who is dairy-free, I’ve never been able to enjoy treats like these before. If you’re gluten-free or dairy-free, this is a must-stop!

Went here with some family in town (kids and adults) and everyone found something just for them! The variety of German pastries are great and everything we got wasn’t overly sweet. Shout out to the sticky bun that was so cinnamon-y. The staff were super friendly too. We’d go back! They also have some decorative cakes, biscotti and cookies that would be great for special occasions.

Edit to below, they reached out to me and I received a full refund. This was the first time something like this had happened from this bakery and I fully intend on returning. I'm happy they made the situation right, I just wish it had been resolved earlier. ____________________ Unfortunately, I emailed the bakery twice starting on Feb 28th and have not received a response in over 10 business days so its safe to assume I will not receive one. I wanted to share some feedback on a chocolate truffle cake I picked up on 2/27. We’ve had this cake four other times before and always loved it, but this time it was incredibly dry/crumbly and fell way short on quality. We ended up eating less than a half of it due to the poor quality. The bakery had an amazing quality but this one fell short, especially for a $60 cake. I've seen multiple reviews on here from the same timeframe with the chocolate truffle torte in regards to it being dry so I'd assume it was a bad batch.

Google
This is the best bakery in the world. That’s right. I said it. The WORLD. They have the best treats, everything is SO good, they have different sugar options if you want them. It’s amazing.

Google
Best bakery in town!!!! Not overly sweet and balances taste so well. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back :)

Google
I got a couple of biscotti’s, it was super dry. Also got a small piece of cake all for $12 which was definitely not worth it. And finding parking is a nightmare!

Google
Always exceptional. The salesperson who helped me was very accommodating. Their selection of GF treats is incredible. I've never had a bad experience here. Looking forward to their Xmas yule logs!!

Yelp
Rheinlander Bakery is located in Olde Town Arvada and should be on your list to check out if you are desserts. This German inspired bakery can be found a few doors down from The Arvada Tavern with street parking available. While walking around Olde Town with my husband and our little girl dog, I saw this bakery and decided to just go inside and see (sometimes that can be dangerous for the waist and the wallet, lol). My husband and our little girl sat one of the few tables outside the bakery. When I came in, I just started to look at all the baked goods in the glass case, trying to figure out what items I would like to purchase (it would really be a shame if I came in a bakery and walk away without anything). Because there were a few other people in the bakery, I had to wait until an employee was free to help me with my order. A friendly employee behind the counter did ask me how he could help me after waiting a short time (maybe 10 minutes?). He was helpful in providing suggestions and also told me what were some popular items that people purchase (such as their cupcakes and eclairs). I ended up purchasing the following: Chocolate Eclair, $5.98 prior to tax and fees- The employee helping me told me that the filling is made with freshly made custard and not just whipped cream. This eclair was definitely good and a good size for sharing. Pistachio Almond Persian Roll, $3.98 prior to tax and fees- I asked the employee what were these Persian rolls. He told me they are a cinnamon roll that is flatten, and with this particular one, it has some marzipan and crushed pistachios. Oh this dessert was definitely delicious and quite sweet. But the crushed pistachios did a nice job of trying to balance the sweetness (but still on the sweet side). Also a very nice size for sharing. Billionaire Shortbread, $5.98 prior to tax and fees- Oh this was very good, very decadent. I can see why it is known as the "billionaire" shortbread. But the shortbread is a little crumbly though and may be a little messy if you do not eat this with a plate. Sticky Bun, $3.98 prior to tax and fees- I got this for my husband and he consumed it the next day. He thought it was good (he loves cinnamon rolls and figured he would enjoy this). ----------------------------- (Total- $23.11 after tax and fees) I did not know this, nor was there a sign, but I was charged an egg fee on my receipt. Just wanted to bring this up for those that are unaware. My husband and I (our little girl got a few bites Persian roll) ate the chocolate eclair and the Persian roll after I purchased it (we sat at one of the 2 tables outside, there is also a bench). There are plates, plastic utensils and napkins inside the bakery, right by the entrance). The shortbread and sticky bun was consumed later on. Although I was charged a hidden egg fee, I still really enjoyed the baked goods that I purchased. If I lived in this area, I would come back to try some of their other baked goods.

Yelp
The service was great, even when busy. But that's where the positives end. Streusel cookie was beyond dry. And this is coming from someone who loves shortbread. I had 2 petit fours style cakes. The pistachio had pistachios in it, but the overwhelming flavor was almond extract. The keylime was mid and the cake was dry and crumbly. The linzer tart was one of the better options as the jam saved the dry shortbread, but only by a bit. The Bienenstitch Sandwich was similar to the linzer, in that the dryness is only saved by the cream in the center. Speaking of cream. None of what is claimed to be buttercream tastes like real butter. As someone who bakes a lot, I can taste real butter versus a butter flavored shortening. Everything with the frosting had the artificial taste, greasy texture of fake buttercream. The lemon cupcake fell to the same horror. Fake frosting, dry cake, and a lemon flavor that was artificial. Finally, my only real reason to come. The strudel. I had the apple and blueberry cream cheese strudel. They were tough. Strudel made in the proper way should be tender. Pastry rolled so thin that you can read a newspaper through it. This was the opposite. Finally, the streusel rolls fell victim to the other recipes. They were dry and tough. I had to use a paring knife to cut through the blueberry lemon one when I got home. All in all, I think I fell victim to paid TikTok ads. As someone who routinely bakes, I am hard to please, but had high hopes. My hopes fell drastically short and I will never get my 60$, time spent driving, or hydration back.

Yelp
I was immediately drawn to the colorful and beautiful looking pastries. We were visiting our son and his wife and bought several items to share and enjoy. The items did not live up to the expectations. The carrot cake was gummy and floury. The tiramisu had very little Italian flavor. We really wanted to love it....but it isn't likely we would ever try it again. It's pretty....just not tasty.

Yelp
Just wanted to update to say I continue to love coming here. For a sweet treat for myself , or a cake for a celebration, or a latte to walk around olde town with! The quality is always the absolute best! And they still have things like gluten free dairy free etc etc they have it! Ryan and I tried a little bit of everything the other day and it was such a delight! The people are too !
google avatar

Yelp
Got a late and some pastries. They were absolutely delicious. Very sweet. The coffee was well priced and they have lots of syrups to try. The staff were kind. We will definitely be back to try more

Yelp
Amazing Bakery with lots and lots of Gluten-Free Options! Various cupcake flavors, cannolis, various cookies, biscottis, brownies, Bavarians, eclairs, tortes, razzipans, and everything else you can imagine this is a dream bakery whether you are gluten-free or not. Currently for the holidays they offer peppermint patties--these are yummmmmyyyy! I highly recommend this Rheinlander Bakery in downtown Arvada. It's definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
Got the apple streusel and Bienenstich and both were delicious. My German boyfriend approved!

Yelp
Oct 2024 - Beautiful bakery with a large selection of yummies We got lucky with parking :) Line wasn't long and there was a large collection to select from The Danish and biscotti's were rich & tasty ! We will be back to this beautiful town and bakery in our next visit

Yelp
From the moment you're near the shop you can smell the wonderful aroma of baked goods. Upon entering we were greeted by the attentive employees as we gazed at all the delicious items to choose from. We decided on the Apple strudel slices and cherry streusel roll. We sat outside in their seating area and devoured the one of the delicious treats. It was amazingly tasty and was happy we had another treat to go.

Yelp
I tried a handful of pastries and they were all delicious. If I had to pick my favorite one, I'd probably say the Billionaire's Shortbread because I'm a lover shortbread. Layers of shortbread cookies, caramel, chocolate ganache, and sea salt, just perfection. However, anything you order from here would be a yummy treat. Service was wonderful, I asked from some recommendations and all of them were great. Atmosphere reminds me of traditional bakeries with long cases filled with goodies. They have a large selection of items, I look forward to coming back here and trying more.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow one of the best pumpkin pie I've ever had! We will continue to order our pies from this bakery!
google avatar

Justin U.

Yelp
Be careful when you go to this place because it's very dangerous... to your diet. Daily they make exceptionally delicious baked goods and they have them in glass display cases where you can easily see them! And the more annoying part is I could clearly hear most of these baked goodies calling my name! :-) If you're looking for a quality, old-fashioned bakery, it's worth your time and effort to drive to Arvada to check out all the goodies this place has to offer.

Yelp
I'm reviewing this one simple cupcake. It was the end of the day and they were closing and yes, we were served very quickly. That being said seven dollars for one cupcake that was a little bit hard was rather disappointing. It's a cute bakery and I will try it again and under different circumstances but at first try it is a no

Yelp
Delicious! Make sure to stop by this old town Arvada German Bakery! It lives up to the hype. I tried the apple strudel and I asked for a slice of the princess cake so they recommended the strawberry wine tort. along with a 16oz latte, it came to $16 with tax. The yellow cake was so moist, with layers of creamy custard, the strawberries, with marzipan buttercream. Sweetness is just right. I finished it in one setting. There is outside seating to sip the coffee and pastries. I would come back and try their different cakes.
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
Loved the pastries here. So many options and the people were nice as well. Was pretty crowded on a Sunday but the store is big. We had the vanilla eclair thing, Black Forest cupcake, horseshoe macaroon, and strawberry and wine cake. The vanilla eclair was pretty sweet but the pastry part was yummy. The Black Forest cupcake was dry and a bit too sweet as well. My favorite was the wine and strawberry cake. The flavor was really good and not too sweet. Didn't get too much wine flavor but I would definitely get that again. I also liked the macaroon and it was an interesting shape. It was pretty moist as well.

Yelp
I have no idea how anyone walking past the Rheinlander Bakery can escape the smells overtaking the air on the street outside. Once you float into the bakery, decision paralysis hits. Every item looks amazing. On my latest visit, I purchased homemade peppermint patties, a hamburger sugar cookie, and a couple other items I consumed too fast to remember. Definitely a must stop for all your sweet needs when in Arvada!

Yelp
Boy, this German native was super disappointed by this bakery. :-( I was really hoping to find some good quality, authentic German baked goods, but there was almost nothing of the sort to be found. They have Bienenstich, which is authentic, but it's not my favorite so I didn't try it. The Black Forest cupcakes were decorated with what looked like cheap, lard-based frosting, and topped with a - gasp - maraschino cherry! So wrong. Didn't dare try that one, either. The Lemon "Moose" cake had hardly any mousse in it to speak of, and the filling that was there was just the lard-y kind, instead of yummy, fresh, actual whipped cream like I would have expected. The blueberry-lemon Streusel bun was alright, and the best of the four different items I tried. If you've had true German pastries, I suspect you'll be similarly disappointed. Otherwise, they certainly do have a big selection of baked goods that are a bit fancier looking, but qualitatively similar to what you'd find at King Soopers.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing vanilla apple strudel. Just like Germany. They also have a ton of coffee flavors and other baked goods. Will definitely try next time I return.

Yelp
Looking for a breakfast spot or bakery while in Arvada and found Rheinlander Bakery... Wow... So many incredible options!! I bought several things... all of them were delicious!!

Yelp
The best bakery that exists on planet Earth and it's been around for a long time. It's a Germany bakery and everything in here tasted like heaven. Stop whatever you're doing and head here right now.

Yelp
Rating - 4.5 - Went here on 7/4/24. First time here. Found them on IG. Very friendly staff. Very attentive. No seats inside. A couple right outside their door. But in Old Town Arvada you'll find quite a few tables along the sidewalk. We ordered a Chewy Snickerdoodle Cookie, Key Lime Cake, a lemon cake and a chocolate cake. All small pieces. Everything was good. The cookie could have been more chewy. Then there're could have been more lime flavor in the cake. But will definitely be back and try more things.

Yelp
I have stopped here three times on my trips through the Denver area. I'm always impressed by the quality and variety of this delicious business

Yelp
Amazing German bakery in downtown Arvada. Stopped several times and everything we've had was amazing.

Yelp
Very good recommendation from one of the girls working at the bakery. I don't remember the name of the dessert and it didn't last long enough for me to take a picture. The picture I took was of butter beer, but that is not the dessert that I am writing about. The butter beer was okay it had a peanut butter and chocolate flavor, but it was not my favorite. Because it was a bit too salty.
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun place to discover! I actually heard about this place from a tiktok. I was surprised because I am in the area a lot and I've never noticed this bakery. I tried two desserts and it was hard to stick to two because there might be atleast 100 options!!! The two I got were awesome - one was a confetti torte and I can't remember the other name but they had this style of dessert in a couple different flavors. Mine was the snickers and it was very good. I loved the style of the dessert but I'd get one without nuts next time. I'm taking a star off because of the style of service. They really rush people and the amount of items they have is so overwhelming. I asked for recommendations and was told caramel and red velvet - 2 flavors I don't care for but he kind of looked annoyed when I said that so I just hurried up and picked. There was a huge line and no real way to look at everything in there while remaining in line. If they add a better more organized process, I bet they would sell more.

Yelp
Been thinking about my earlier review and then conversation with the owner, and then her response that motivated me to delete my negative review. It's time to set things straight.... I called the shop and asked to speak with the owner after I posted a review about my husband's horrible birthday cake. Dry, tasted funny like coconut (it's red velvet) and wanted to know about a return. She insisted that I bring it back to the shop, but I'm an hour a way and wasn't going to make an extra trip. The gaslighting that I experienced and lack of any apology was astounding. She never acknowledged our dissatisfaction. She started saying things like they have to freeze all of their products, since they are such a large operation, as if that's supposed to justify the horrible tasting cake. We went back and forth and realized she wasn't listening to me. I got defensive and said a few choice words and then hung up. We threw the cake down the disposal, just like she threw this customer away. Didn't anyone teach you that the customer is right? Please don't answer me or say things that are not true in another defensive response. The cake tasted horrible and that's the truth. I'm sorry that you couldn't accept the truth. If you think that a customer complaining about a bad product is attacking or being hostile, you don't know anything about customer service.

Yelp
Rhinelander is THE place to get baked goods. I ordered my third Black Forest whipped cream cake from here, in 3 years for a birthday. We have also had plenty of pastries and cookies from here over the years. Great bakers, great service!
google avatar

Benny R.

Yelp
Great little bakery. They have everything to standard baked goods to strudels. I go mainly for the streudels. I've had some of the other things, but I felt like they were somewhat standard (good, but also could get anywhere). I would say go for the strudels, personally. It's not a sit down place at all, but you can order a pastry and a coffee and then you need to find someplace to eat it. Not the cheapest place but it's a good place to get some quality baked goods for a special occasion. Also, just have some patience when you are there. They are often busy (but worth the wait!)
google avatar

Sam C.

Yelp
I got cupcakes for a small birthday celebration, I had to the chef selection as they all looked amazing, and they were fresh and a huge hit.
google avatar

Gina K.

Yelp
If you haven't been run to this bakery for y or t next cake order. It was super easy to order online but they were out of the red velvet online so I called and they said they could make it since I was picking up three days from when I called. I picked it up slightly after the 11am pick up time I had requested on a Sunday morning. The place was packed with people picking up cakes and ordering pastries and other sweet treats. We used the cake for a birthday celebration and everyone raved about how delicious it was without being too sweet. I will be back to try the lattes and other sweet treats..

Rae Ann A.

Yelp
The store itself is really cute. There is so much selection, and everyone was really welcoming. However, the actual baked goods were just average. I will not be coming back. The marshmallow was grainy, the baklava was way too sweet, the cookie tasted so eggy, the cupcake was decent, but still not great for the price. Everything was expensive...and not worth it in comparison to other bakeries. The only decent thing was the baby king cake.
google avatar

Derrick G.

Yelp
This is a very good bakery, with an incredible pastry and cake selection. There was also a very large gluten-free pastry selection. I tried four different pastries and one streusel. All the baked items were delicious. There were numerous cakes to choose from, I will order cake during one of my next visits. I wanted tea to drink with my dessert, and the tea selection was very large and affordable. This bakery has something for everybody, and the staff are extremely friendly and willing to assist customers.

Yelp
Great gem in downtown Arvada. German bakery with an amazing selection of baked treats and coffees. Hard to pick just one treat. Friendly and fast service , it was busy when we went but still got helped quickly. Quaint little bakery. Everything we tried was top notch! Got cute decorated cookies for kids too

Yelp
So after spending over $400 on our annual holiday gifts for our clients, I cannot be believe for 1 secod how badly II was treated, and the the absolute lack of quality in every single one of these boxes, unbelievable. . The young man you had working in the front was super vexed by the fact that I had ordered so mich. 11 dozen treats is suxh a huge ask??? Better believe he charged me for the one decorated treat per box and seemingly your entire crew never once tried to get anyone above him/management to help I'm better off just getting pilsbury cookies. I should have 100%. listened to everyone in Old Towne Arvada, and not gone back! Never again garbage bakery. Sincerely, Emily Rettich 50 year resident of Old Town Arvada, the founder ot the old town arvada cruise ride. And now your most vocal critic against what a rip off piece of crap, people are going to overpay for.

Yelp
Stopped in after leaving So Radish, which is just a few doors down. There weren't a lot of vegan options. I tried a chocolate truffle brownie and a vanilla cupcake with fudge buttercream icing. Both were gluten-free and delicious. If I was in the area, I'd stop by to try more of their vegan pastries.
google avatar

Olya A.

Yelp
Great selection of streusel and gluten free also. You can pick up a piece or the whole thing. Everything is delicious and lines tend to move quickly. Remember to park in the public lot a block away to make it easier to pick up.
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
I love this German Bakery located in the heart of Old Town Arvada. I went in around 2:30 pm on a weekday and they still had ample fresh treats available for purchase. I got a mix of 5 things for my boyfriend and I to share. A slice of blueberry cream cheese streusel, apple streusel, baklava, billionaires shortbread and chocolate toffee cake (tasted like an upscale ho-ho). Even in the afternoon, there was a line but it moved quickly. The breakfast pastries were both delicious. The baklava was both of our favorites and also the best baklava either of us have ever had which is wild. The other two authentic pastries were bland. $6 a pop was a bit steep given the size of the pastries, but it was fun to try them all. It won't be a regular spot but definitely somewhere for a special treat on occasion.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
Have not been since before covid but we were in the area so thought it would be nice. We were wrong. It tasted like from frozen box mix vs. fresh bakery. Not sure what happened to the quality here but it's not what we remembered.

Yelp
Super cute bakery in an adorable part of Denver that I've never been to. They have a huge selection of baked goods and also coffee to accompany the delicious sweet treats. The lady who took care of us was super nice and patient (we were with a 2year old who wanted to get everything) and also helpful. Definitely would go back there to buy more goodies if I'm ever around.

Amanda W.

Yelp
5 star customer service. I needed an order with piping/message on it & they did it in a matter of minutes. Very impressed in this day and age by a small business that has such incredible and kind service. And the deserts speak for themselves! Phenomenal! Must visit spot in old towne! Snickerdoodle cookies are amazing, and we got 4 streusel rolls :)

F B.

Yelp
Be careful when ordering for the holidays. The minimum order for Thanksgiving was six cakes! Not a variety of cakes. The same cake. The pastries are in twelve packs only one flavor. No assortments. I had called and asked if I could come in and place an order as it is less than one week until the holiday. I was assisted by a very young female wearing a ski cap with her hair hanging down. When advised of the minimums for ordering I was shocked. When questioned about it the response was "that's our policy" and she shrugged her shoulders. I left and returned within minutes and asked for a manager. The same person was at the register and she smiled and said "I am the manager and I am helping another customer". For better customer service, they might want to look at improving their website and how they respond to callers. By the way the website allows for ordering only one cake.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
WOW. I was trying to find a good bakery in Denver and I'm SO glad I found this place. The reviews are not kidding - this is an amazing bakery and everything I got (a smattering of about six pastries) were amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the flow of the bakery. There's no clear place to order and the aisles are a bit small so it's kinda tough to view everything before placing an order if there are other customers. But let's be honest - this small annoyance is not enough to knock this place down by a star. The pastries are *excellent*.
google avatar

Trish A.

Yelp
When we arrived we didn't have a wait when we left the line was at the door. Go early! The pastries were plentiful and delicious. We've been here before and will return again.
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
Delicious treats! The smell drew me in and I was so happy it did. I got the raspberry truffle for me and the peanut butter bon bon for my husband and we both loved them. It's a little pricey but worth it. The staff were also very friendly even though it was super busy. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Walking in here was dangerous. There are homemade cakes, cookies, strudel, confections and lots of coffee. Everything looks delicious and is artful decorated, it's quite impressive. I wanted to try everything! We opted for a cookie and two strudel rolls, the blueberry and the cherry. The cookie was a rainbow sprinkle and I found it to be okay, but compared to the ones you get a grocery store, I'd probably go for the grocery store (shrug). We had the rolls the next morning for breakfast and MAN WERE THOSE AMAZING! The place totally redeemed itself, and if I lived closer, this would really become an addiction. The only thing that really knocked the star for me was the customer service. We were in there with about 4 other customers and none of us were addressed or helped for over 5 minutes. There was no clear place to order and we were all kind of hovering by the registers looking for someone to help us. One lady asked another couple if they had been helped, they said no, and she actually walked away and started doing other things. As I've only been in once, I can't say this is standard treatment, but they had about 7-8 people behind the counter, so surely one of them could have popped up to say "we'll be with you soon." This quick pit-stop on our way back to our car took nearly 15 minutes. I'm not going to let that interaction deter me or anyone else from visiting, I just hope that's not the norm. Definitely get the strudel!
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
Really nice little bakery. Surrounding area is very nice. Would recommend. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. They even recommended activities for us to do around Denver since we were visiting. Recommends this place for any of their pastry you can't go wrong. If you get the cake and flying would recommend the frozen ones. Personally got the dobash which was really good and the strudels. My friend is a big fan of their snickerdoodles

Yelp
What a fabulous bakery, made all the more delightful because I discovered it entirely by accident. I bailed on a long, slow coffee line at another shop, and walked the short distance to this place shortly after it opened. I was warmly greeted by not only a friendly "Good morning!" by one of their staff, but also by the heavenly aroma of fresh bread, pastries, cakes and pies. Is there anything more heavenly? No, there isn't. Suddenly awash with baked inspiration, I decided also to purchase a sticky bun to accompany my coffee. By this point, you should not be surprised to learn that this was easily the best sticky bun I've ever had. The coffee was delicious and fresh, too. I'll be making this spot a frequent stop during my morning walks. I'll always be getting coffee, I expect, and can't wait to sample a few more of their delicious baked goods.

Judy G.

Yelp
I do not advise anyone to purchase a Gluten Free or Gluten Free Vegan cake. We have found the cake itself to be flavorless and dried out. We had to use a butcher knife to cut the cake this Xmas. We ended up throwing out the $70 cake.

Yelp
Pretty good experience ordering a cake for a friend's birthday. I was told this is an authentic German bakery from this friend who has both visited and lived in Germany short term. We got the fondant cake with champagne icing which was delicious! It was a bit sweeter than my preference but this may be normal for German bakeries. I requested by order to be ready prior to their standard store opening hour and they did not disappoint. I was happy they were able to both custom bake the cake and cater to my request. I do want to go back and try the other selections which just looks heavenly! I do wish packaging was a bit better to account for cakes that are larger or have toppings. This would alleviate my anxiety transporting such a large and beautifully decorated cake.
