My husband and I (in one tent), as well as our cousins (in another tent), stayed at the Rhino River camp in June 2019. At first we were concerned because the camp is slightly outside of Meru Park. We quickly realized that we were so happy that our tour operator, Origins (based out of Kenya), selected this camp for our stay.||With only 6 tents, This camp is very intimate. Each tent is separated from the others - making it very private as well. Our tent was up on stilts overlooking the river. There was a nice sitting area with a table and chairs outside of the tent to relax. ||Service was impeccable. Every time we left the tent, our towels were refreshed and our tent was straightened up. Water was also refilled throughout the day which was nicer than having only one bottle of water each day.||The food was outstanding. It seemed as if we were eating at a high-end restaurant in the states.||The staff was wonderful and accommodated every request. From the security guards walking us to our tents in the evening to the restaurant staff serving us each meal, we felt like we were at a premium hotel.||I highly recommend this tented camp.

This was my first visit to Meru and Rhino River Camp which is a new addition to the Porini Camps. The Camp is quite different to the other Porini Camp but its management is up there with all the other Porini Camps that I frequent. ||The Camp is situated in a 60 acre fenced area adjoining the Meru Rhino Sanctuary which is within the massive Meru National Park. Although Meru is not a big star destination to see masses of wildlife I saw the Big 5 over one weekend. It provides a real wilderness experience and was where Elsa the lioness of Born Free fame was released. Her grave is a short drive from the camp. ||Rhino River Camp is alongside a tributary of the Tana River and there a seven luxury tents with large sit out areas and each have different features. Five of them are river facing and for those who don’t want the sound of the river all night there are two forest tents. ||I stayed in tent five which has a small tent on an adjoining deck with a table and chairs – there is also a family tent and a honeymoon tent. ||There is a swimming pool and lovely common areas with a well stocked bar. You can choose to eat on by your tents by the pool or even in the bush at any time.|| There is running hot water and a laundry service as well as opportunity for a massage. Every evening the bush babies turn up and can be hand fed. Good walking and birding and also fishing. Rods are available at the camp. ||Well worth a visit to start or end a safari. I hope to return with my family later in the year.|

It was in a great location right on the river. The only disappointment was we were the only visitors because of Covid-19. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was great with a view over the main river. The food was a set menu, very enjoyable. but the portions were a little large. The one thing that stood out for me was at 7pm the hotel feed bananas to a group of Bush babies. They were very cute and a couple of then squabbled over the bananas.
