"Rhotey Rotisserie, the promising rotisserie chicken sandwich shop from 28-year-old first time restauranteur Vincent Taylor, just called it quits after six months in business. Opened on August 6, 2018, the fast-casual spot opened with a goal of serving “sandwiches that eat like a burger” and quickly gained rave reviews on Yelp — and from food critics. Just two weeks after it opened, in fact, Jeff Balke, who scours Houston for the best sandwiches in town for his best sandwich column in the Houston Press, called it “nearly perfect,” saying, “this might be one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever eaten.” Later that year, Rhotey’s rotisserie chicken sandwich came in at No. 11 on the Houston Press’ list of 13 Best Dishes of 2018. In spite of the great reviews, Rhotey never quite achieved the numbers necessary to make it a success for the long term. Though its juicy, halal rotisserie sandwiches made with Wayne Farms Naked Truth Chicken, caramelized onion, crispy chicken skin cracklings and buttermilk dressing attracted fans from across the city, the Mid-West Houston strip mall location on Westheimer did not see enough foot traffic, Rhotey Rotisserie’s owner tells Eater. After one good month in October, Taylor said that traffic slowed down considerably. “It just kind of just kept going down,” Taylor says, “to the point where even though our catering was up, wasn’t enough to keep it sustainable at that location.” In January, the writing was on the wall: “I just knew the numbers weren’t right,” says Taylor. “They just didn’t mesh what was expected and what was budgeted for.” Rhotey Rotisserie officially closed its doors this past Saturday, February 16." - Mai Pham

Found this new place thinking of having a chicken, in fact it's a sandwich place a very special one. I had a chicken sandwich and a pork sandwich with some Mexican cola. Everything was amazing, the bread is great, the meat is tasty, kitchen and lobby was clean and the service is excellent. Vincent was friendly. I will definitely come back. I can say for myself this was the greatest sandwich I had in Houston

expecting a regular rotisserie, and planning to bring a rotisserie chicken home, we were surprised that it was a sandwich with rotisserie meat. hungry enough, we decided to give it a try, and the owner's suggestions were the chicken and the porcheta. The sandwiches are well made, everything holds in place, you see all the layers of ingredients, colorful and appealing. And when i took a bite: mind blown, it's so good, the pretzel bun on the chicken is super original and awesomely good and the added crispy chicken skin takes chicken to another level. takes me back to the time i just peeled and ate all the skins on my mom's roasted or fried chicken. so worth it. the bread on the pork sandwich was ok, but the slices are thick and well done. reminds me of my mom's roasted pork belly, which is a good thing. Wow, writing this review reminds me of home, actually. Chips are good, large and super crunchy The service is great, and all is new and clean. I definitely recommand this place.

My first time there and will definitely be back. The rotisserie chicken is perfectly cooked! Having it as a sandwich made it even better. This is a must try place. Do not leave with out a order of their homemade chips either flavor will do.

While visiting from Dallas, my wife and I tried out Rhotey. The owner, Vincent, is very friendly and explained to us the menu. As the name betrays, this fast-casual restaurant centers on rotisserie cuisine in the form of sandwiches and salads. When I personally think about rotisserie, I think about Boston Market or my local grocery store’s rotisserie chicken. It is a shame that that is the typical rotisserie experience. Vincent takes a traditional and accordingly thorough approach to rotisserie cuisine. Only humanely raised meats are offered, with the three options being chicken, beef and porchetta. Porchetta is a pork loin surrounded by pork belly, and is something my wife and I had only seen in Italy. A roasted cauliflower sandwich is also on offer. We ordered the rotisserie chicken and rotisserie Porchetta sandwiches, the sour cream and onion chips (hand cut and prepared in-store) and an order of the cauliflower. The chicken sandwich is accompanied by pieces of crispy chicken skin (some baked, some fried), carmelized onions in a balsamic marmalade, a touch of buttermilk ranch and the traditional tomato/lettuce/pickles. The Porchetta sandwich has the carmelized onions along with a chimichurri and arugula. I cannot recommend the chicken sandwich enough! It was hands-down one of the tastiest sandwiches I have ever had. Not only are the ingredients unique, nearly everything in prepared in the store or locally sourced. This gave me a new view on rotisserie and served to explain why this cuisine is so popular abroad. The porchetta sandwich, something novel, was also delicious. The portion was generous and is a stick-to-your-bones kind of a sandwich. I would definitely recommend this to those who haven’t tried this before!

Very inviting, I walked in and was immediately greeted with a friendly "Welcome to Rhotey Rotisserie" Nice playlist on the radio. Calm relaxed music, like the homework edits I used to listen to back in school. You know it's there and it's not overbearing, it makes the whole dining experience nice and casual. The fries are good. They get made when you order them. Nice and crunchy on the outside and very warm and soft on the inside. They're well seasoned with the only thing fries should be seasoned with...salt and pepper. The star of the show was the sandwich, simply put... It was delicious. I got the "Bacon Cheddar Beef". Subed the vinegar with honey mustard, removed the tomato and she had no problem making the adjustments. The Pretzel bread worked wonders with it. Overall, a superb simple dining experience for a casual Saturday afternoon. Will for sure come back.

Great Sandwiches! My daughter and I split 2 Sandwiches. The Rotisserie Chicken and Sweet & Spicey Feta Rotisserie Chicken. Both were excellent and to be honest I would probably want to order it that way next time too. Flavor is Fresh Rich and multi layerd. I wish it wasn't so far from where I live. If your reading this, try them and you will be very happy.

Nice and clean atmosphere. Simple menu with many unique options to select from. I had the rotisserie chicken sandwich with pretzel bun and there house sauce. I must say I was surprised on how fresh and how much flavor there was in the sandwich. Vincent the owner is amazing and know his food. I would definitely recommend to others and come again.
