Where to Drink Guinness in the Charlotte Area This Holiday Season | Eater

"Nothing beats a bit of local lore, and Rí Rá has just that. When it opened in 1997, the Irish-born owners wanted to create a Victorian-era Irish bar in the middle of Uptown, so they imported bonafide fixtures from famed pubs in Dublin. Some say a few playful spirits came along with them, too. The Guinness here doesn’t stop at the pint; it becomes part of the signature Guinness barbecue sauce doused on the burger and nachos, and it gets simmered down for a warming beef stew served with housemade soda bread. As cooler months roll in, Rí Rá naturally beckons the nearby Uptowners, theater-goers, and game-watchers like a magnet. The weekend live music and $5 drink specials at brunch don’t hurt, either. With old Guinness signs galore, the pub’s lived-in aesthetic is a charming one, making this two-story bar an unwavering fixture in the city center. Pro tip: Rí Rá is a great event space, with no room fees and a whole karaoke setup." - Kayleigh Ruller

This establishment was a highlight of our trip to Charlotte! The overall vibe of an Irish pub is amazing. The wood furnishings create the perfect ambiance. The staff is professional and engaging. I appreciate my server’s sense of humor and strong knowledge of the menu. Everything we ate was top quality with perfect presentation. I highly recommend the spinach and artichoke dip, bangers & mash, fish & chips with the Baileys Spiked Mousse for dessert! Grab a Black & Blue beer cocktail to complement the meal.

Really enjoyed my visit here — the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The spinach dip came out bubbling hot and delicious, and my burger was cooked perfectly medium, juicy and flavorful. The beer selection hit the spot, though I will say the Bourbon Rouge cocktail didn’t quite feel worth the price. Overall though, a great experience and I’d happily come back.

Google
Fish and chips were excellent - haven't had a solid piece of fish like this in a long while. Drinks were great, atmosphere is nice as well. Solid spot that I will definitely add to my list to revisit the next time I'm in Charlotte again.

My wife and I spent the night in Charlotte on the way to a family reunion near Asheville. We had to stop in to Ri Ra, which is where we first met fourteen years ago. She had the Pub Rachel with Onion Rings. I ordered the Cottage Pie which included Irish Soda Bread. The Cottage Pie was comforting and full of flavor. I loved it. The Irish Soda Bread tasted like the bread I have eaten in Ireland but can never replicate when I try to make it myself. We had begun with a few beers and continued with a few cocktails. My wife's first cocktail was a Dark and Stormy, but she switched to my choice of the Dublin Sour (Tullamore Dew Whiskey, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, and Foaming Bitters). This is my new favorite drink. The service was excellent! I hope it is not another fourteen years before we return again.

Great chill environment, attentive staff, food was nice and hot and very worth it! We came out of state and would definitely recommend. Did I mention the portion sizes!? They also have a gluten free menu!

Came into RiRa’ CLT after pride event. We waited for about 10mins or less before being seated. Our waitress came over short after.( she had bit of an Irish accent). We placed our drink order. The tea was bitter. & my rum drink was not sweet @ all, like she stated. It was ok. Nevertheless it sat during the entire meal. I tried to order an appetizer (spinach dip) but they were out of spinach. I Placed the food order, I did the salmon w/ Brussel sprouts but they were out (Brussel sprouts) of that as well. She recommended the garlic green beans. Nothing was garlic about them. Tasteless & crunchy that’s all…I am a little disappointed & my salmon was dry and tasteless. With a marinade on top .

Google
Great pub in Charlotte. The food was tasty. Fish and Chips was a huge portion and lot of flavor. Drinks were also good.

Google
The food and drinks here are top notch! This was a delicious sandwich. The bread was fresh and the paddy melt was fabulous. A very small margarita for $15 but it was tasty and well made. Service was great.

Yelp
Great Irish atmosphere!! Delicious Irish curry!! And a nice Guinness!! Thank you Daniella great service!!

Yelp
I've been to RiRa a few times but recently went for a Texas Longhorns football watch party. There are lots of TVs and tables in the upstairs bar, and also bathrooms! I tried the everything pretzel rods. The cheese sauce was really good and they give you a big amount for dipping. I didn't care for the everything seasoning so I scraped most of it off. The other menu items look really tasty! Parking in uptown can be tough if you don't get lucky and find a meter spot.

Yelp
My review is mainly on the service ! Claudia was super nice and attentive. Our drinks were really good too. I had a lemon drop Martini which is not on the menu and not always made good this one was bomb! The spinach dip was just ok i probably wouldn't get it again. The wing flavor was good though. I'd def go back for drinks :)

Yelp
I've seen some not great reviews here, so I may be lucky that I had a great experience. The only issue was a pretty decent wait time for a server to get to our table, and it took a bit for our food to arrive. But I don't hold that against them, especially on a weekend night in downtown Charlotte. They have all of the favorite Irish pub menu items. I tried the pub Rachel and wow, it was amazing!! The mashed potatoes were also delicious! They have beer and a full bar, so there are drinks for everyone. Our server had an Irish accent, so I had to ask where she was from. She had just arrived here from Ireland two weeks ago. She told us that the company that owned the restaurant is based in Ireland and they expanded to Charlotte, so they offer employees to come here to work for periods of time. She wasn't the only employee that had traveled from Ireland to work in Charlotte, so it really made the vibe even more authentic. I thought that was the coolest thing ever! Parts of the bar were even brought over from Ireland to the Charlotte location. The vibe is totally that of an Irish pub! We had such a great dinner experience there that we went back the next night and took friends with us.

Yelp
Annette the super friendly bar lady makes the most delicious espresso martinis while giving us the history of the resident ghosts! Highly recommend a visit and a martini!

Yelp
A phenomenal Irish pub in Uptown with great ambience. The staff are first class and professional. Love the food and drink options.

Yelp
My second time pre-theatre at Ri Ra's and just delicious!! Nice Irish pub atmosphere. Had fish n'chips on first visit Rueben sandwich on second. Loved the crisp of the fish & chips; the corned beef was fresh & delicious. onion rings nicely crisp! Great place to grab dinner pre-show. Wait staff prompt & friendly attentive! Prices reasonable!

Yelp
Great Irish pub in the middle of Uptown Charlotte. However, staff seemed tired. We were probably late on a Saturday night for dinner. Band was in full swing. Food was great, service was good, very incredible Irish bar theme, complete with ghosts--so I was told.

Alberto R.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick lunch. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about their very limited menu. She suggested the fish and chips and said that everything they served was homemade, including the batter. They were very good portions, and were delicious. The price was a little high, but then again this is downtown Charlotte.

Yelp
We absolutely loved our dining experience here! My dad loves Irish Pubs and my parents met at an Irish Pub so I came to visit them and wanted to treat them to dinner and found this place! I made a reservation and when we walked in, we were seated quickly! Our waiter was so friendly and attentive! He was really working hard as well. My dad got his favorite Guinness to drink and my mom and I got the cider sangria cocktail and it was amazing! We ordered the chicken bites with the Guinness barbecue sauce and they were tasty! For entrees we ordered the steakhouse paddy melt, pub reuben and a salad with falafel nuggies and they were all so delicious!!! The inside definitely has Irish pubs vibes and the bathrooms are clean! I cannot wait to bring my parents back here!

Yelp
Solid food in a busy downtown location! This Irish pub was packed to the brim on a weekend night, which is always a good sign. My group had a reservation and were seated promptly. We were offered menus and drinks, and service was friendly/speedy. I opted for the Jameson & Ginger Salmon, and really enjoyed it! My fish was cooked perfectly and the glaze was flavorful, but not overpowering. The brussel sprouts were a little heavier on the grease than I prefer, but the mashed potatoes more than made up for it. The portion was hearty and a second meal out of leftovers is definitely possible! The one drawback was that it was extremely loud in the space. I couldn't even hear the people sitting at my table speaking and had to sneak my concert earplugs in at dinner. In all fairness, we were seated in the bar area. So, I'd recommend being cognizant of asking for a quieter space if needed before being seated. Overall, this restaurant is an authentic Irish pub and I would definitely stop in again!

Yelp
Great food, great drinks mixed with a little ghost stories. Love the old culture of the area and building. Staff is friendly.

Yelp
I want to start by saying the service and accommodation for us was wonderful. We were coming from out of town and the highway was closed and we had to detour and were an hour and a half (!!) late for our reservation. I was frazzled and apologetic and despite all that they found us a table! So thankful! The ambiance was awesome. Very cool laid back decor- with touches for Halloween which I loved. I got the bangers and mash and my friend got fish and chips. I didn't love mine, but I think it was my palate not the way the food was prepared. My friend loved hers. We went to a concert after we ate and came back for drinks after! It was crowded but the bar staff did a great job keeping up. I would come back here again when visiting Charlotte and recommend!

Yelp
We went for lunch before LLMF. We were promptly seated, the servers were friendly, and the atmosphere was super cute. The food decent, but it's really more of a bar than a restaurant. I'll definitely be back, and hope to check out their rooftop patio.

Yelp
Ri Ra is a great place to grab a bite to eat downtown! Service was great. We ate upstairs and our server was very attentive, got our drinks and orders quickly. Food took a little while but we were not in a hurry. We ordered the pretzel rods for an appetizers. They are delicious and the beer cheese dip is amazing!! I had the reuben it was good. Fries were a bit salty. The fish and chips is a huge serving of fish. Shrimp po boy was tasty but hard to eat as served. Served almost like an open faced sandwich.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
This is a really cool place. My friends and I ate here while in Charlotte for a concert. I love a good Irish pub and it was super close to our hotel in downtown Charlotte. The food was amazing! I ordered the fish and chips and that was one huge piece of fish. It was battered and fried to perfection and the fries were seasoned well. Our waitress was amazing. I cannot remember her name but she had only been in the US for a couple of weeks from Ireland. My only issue with this place was the noise. I mean it was extremely noisy and it wasn't that busy when we were there. The table behind us was SO loud and the TV's were loud and broadcasting multiple sporting events at once. I couldn't really converse with my friends because I couldn't hear them. Would definitely try them again and see if the noise level is more tolerable.

Yelp
Ri Ra will always trigger my nostalgia, as it reminds me of my early days in Charlotte when I was new to the city and my friends and I would bar hop around Uptown until closing time. Having been to many pubs in Ireland I can confirm that it certainly has the ambience down. The first floor is your traditional cozy Irish pub and a great place for a Guinness or two, with some solid food as well including traditional Irish dishes and more American fare. At one time they also had a sandwich cafe around back that used to be one of my favorite lunch spots but unfortunately as far as I know this has since closed. Upstairs is where things get wild late at night. The stools are removed and the DJ comes on. My dancing days are few and far between at my age but it used to be a really fun late night spot to hang out. Ri Ra's will always hold a special place in my heart for all the fun time I had in my younger years, and I am glad to see that it is still going strong. I like to pop in every now and then for a nice cold beer after work and reminisce.

Yelp
Rí Rá was a wonderful spot to head out to uptown for a fun Friday night. We were able to catch the beginning of their Friday live music and it was awesome. The upstairs bar area is dim and very Pub like. It was great. We were told they have a rooftop area as well but we didn't venture up this time. We were on the main floor and unless the second floor and rooftop were busy the place was very slow. We shared the sausage rolls and they were hot and fluffy and the crust was a perfect pastry! They serve it with honey mustard but you have to ask for the HP sauce instead. So much better! I had the Irish chicken curry with fries and rice, and my wife had the Paddy Melt. The curry was good, this is my second time having it here, it had more curry the first time. The meal was great but you could tell it sat under the heat lamp for a bit. The Paddy Melt my wife had looked great, and the marble rye was thick! She said the HP Sauce on there was also great. Overall this place has an amazing atmosphere and is very "pub" like. The food has been good each time we've been know and we would record going here to people looking for a pub in the middle of uptown. Ps. I'm trying to get better about taking photos of the food first then eating lol

Yelp
No reason to not give 5 stars. Got right in on a Friday night, although it was busy. Live music- artist was amazing but too loud and that did make our experience less enjoyable. Once she went on break it was perfect volume with the background music. Service and food were top notch!

Yelp
Great 10/10. Honeysuckle, Watermelon Margarita, Irish Espresso Martini & the Everything Pretzel Rods were absolutely perfect. Bartender was fast & efficient in both greeting & serving us both the food & drinks. Atmosphere was warm & not too loud.

Yelp
Erica went above and beyond with service, timely drinks and great info about the neighborhood! We loved our experience because of her.

Yelp
WARNING***DO NOT BOOK AN EVENT HERE We recently held an event here and the staff was extremely deceptive. We made it clear we were only looking to book the space (which I have in email correspondence with the event manager) but the bar tenders refused to take anyone's card and insisted the bill was covered. As the host I didn't order drinks, and was not made aware until the end of the night I had to pay the entire bill. The manger on staff committed fraud by changing our signed contract after the fact, trying to say that's what l agreed to, when the contract she showed me had 'updated the day of our event." The bartenders LIED to our guests telling them we still needed to meet our minimum and told them to order more drinks. Then I had to pay $2,900 out of pocket for their mistake and they only offered a gift card to reconcile. THIS BUSINESS IS SHADEY AND DECEPTIVEL! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Yelp
Looking for somewhere to eat in Uptown during the day-check out Ri Ra! Great atmosphere for casual pub dining which is a nice change from the fast food and fancy restaurants Uptown. Long bar with stools and a decent amount of high top tables and booths in the space downstairs. Every worker was nice, but wasn't spectacular service, seeming they were short staffed at the time. I would recommend sitting at the bar if you want quicker service. I came here with family on the Friday after Christmas for lunch. We split a pub burger and the Rachel sandwich. We also got a side caesar salad and mushroom soup. The burger was classic and the sandwich was not everyone's style, but I liked the veggies on top and enjoyed the buttery bread! The real winner was the onion rings! The mushroom soup was a broth base soup and was a little bitter, but nice and warm on the cold day.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night with friends. I made a reservation a few hours in advance which I recommend, especially on weekends. It was pretty crowded when we first arrived because there was a soccer game but people filtered out when the game started. Service was amazing, friendly quick and responsive. Food was also good, and portion sizes were just the right size to fill you up but not overstuff you. I got the cottage pie and which was decent. The burger was also a staple that you can't go wrong with. Overall, a great casual spot and I'm always fond of a pub-like atmosphere

Yelp
An Irish pub is a place to seek food, drink, and new friends, and Ri Ra in Charlotte delivers on all accounts. The pub is long and narrow with a real Irish pub vibe. It's a port on a stormy night. The food was traditional pub fare, but with an Indian influence: fish and chips, steak and Guinness pie, cottage pie, Reuben, among other options. We enjoyed the steak pie and fish and chips--absolutely terrific fries!! Great location near both businesses, arena, and convention center.

Yelp
Visited Charlotte over the weekend and a Segway Tour Guide said this was a very authentic Irish Pub. The interior was completely brought over from Ireland and they had good Fish and Chips. I recently found the best Fish and Chips I've ever had over in Lexington, SC at another Irish Pub (they served a very large beer battered Haddock Filet). When I saw that Ri' Ra' also had Haddock I decided to try it. My wife and I went to dinner around 6PM Saturday night. Immediately seated. The atmosphere is very nice and unique...looks like something that would've been over in Ireland. We were seated quickly had a hight table and our waitress took our order. I was really surprised to read all the Yelp reviews on this place. Seems like every single review raved over the Fish and Chips, so of course we had to try it. We also had to try the fresh pretzel with beer cheese as an appetizer. I ordered an Amber Beer and my wife had a Chardonnay. (The Lexington, SC pub also had fresh pretzels and beer cheese). The pretzels were small pretzel bites and come with a cheese spread ( but you can get the beer cheese for $2 extra). We got a bowl of pretzel bites (actually quite a few), but the beer cheese came in a very small little bowl that really didn't have enough cheese to go with all the pretzels. We were a bit disappointed that for $2 you hardly got enough cheese for all the pretzels. The beer cheese was very good. Pretzels were good, but not nearly as good as the SC place. The fish came out and it was very impressive. We split the meal, as the fish filet was quite large. The chips were good and the waitress brought malt vinegar along with ketchup to the table. Tarter sauce also came with the fish. The fish was good, but we both thought that it needed salt. When you cut the fish to take a bite, the batter would not really stay on the fish most of the time. We liked it, but both agreed it didn't compare to the Lexington Irish Pub. Looked exactly the same as far as size, but sure didn't taste as good. Batter wasn't as good. Nice place, good atmosphere, service...we were just a bit disappointed with the Fish and Chips based on all the good reviews. I think we were spoiled by the other pub we'd recently found. I'd go back if I were in Charlotte, but may try another entree next time.

Yelp
We brought a group of 35 here with very little notice on a Sunday night after a convention. We had planned to go to an alternate site, but after several of us had visited there during the week with no so great experiences, we decided we needed to go someplace else. One of our group suggested Rí Rá, we called, and they said sure, come on over. Not only did they accommodate us graciously, they gave us a whole room, and a couple excellent servers, one of whom they called in especially to handle our group. They basically salvaged our evening for us, and the food was delicious. We all ordered off the menu, a variety of different things, and everyone said their meals were excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. The next time I'm in Charlotte, this is where I'm headed first!

Yelp
Great Irish pub in the middle of uptown Charlotte. Excellent choices of drinks and beers. I or odered the soup of the day (broccoli cheddar) and the boneless chicken bites with BBQ, and it was pretty good. My boss was not as lucky with his first order as I was. He got the grilled chicken salad, and the chicken was undercooked. The server was very professional and apologetic and brought another one with fully cooked chicken, which ended up being on the house. That was nice! Also, parking in downtown is a bit of a challenge and pricey, so take that into consideration. Overall, not bad for an Irish pub with a great downtown vibe.

Yelp
We were here after Billy Joel concert for a late night snack. Also friends noticed this eatery walking by area earlier in the morning. Couple of tips for late night dining here. Bring your ID for they will proof you. My friend left ID at hotel after changing. So they had to go back and bring them. While we were waiting for them we placed our names on waitlist for a table. The bar area was very busy and all tables were occupied except for the table in the front which they said it was reserved. Reality is they were short staffed. They sat us at the same empty table in the front after we waited for a long time. Ri Ra has a separated menu for late night and only provided one menu. We asked for another menu so we can share. They said they not able to print up another menu. Both the fish and chip as well as the pretzel bites were good. The waitress was overwhelmed. Left menu and took a while for her to come back to take our orders. Staff brought food to table and we asked for sauce and they did not come back. Nice ambiance and atmosphere. Will come back for lunch but not for late night. One of our buddies had a wee bit of heartburn.

Yelp
Very disappointing. This is one of my go to places when in town for business. I like this place due to the atmosphere, service and the food is pretty good; however, that has changed. I ate there twice the week of April 21, 2025. My issue is that my card was mistakenly charged for another ticket for over $100. I brought this to the manager's attention a couple of days later. I even showed him my receipts. He said he would look into it and get back to me the following day. When I didn't hear back from him, I called him twice before getting him on the phone. According to him, he had just received the information he needed. He even admitted that the signatures between my tickets and the one in question didn't match. He also couldn't explain how my card could have been rung again over an hour after I left. Very concerning. I was told he would get with his office and call me back the next day. Now here we are a week later and I still haven't heard anything, so I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company. I understand that mistakes happen. I find it troublesome that customer service has gotten so BAD! I will not be returning to this place.

Yelp
Absolutely awful. Came in at 7:30PM-- the place was empty besides 2 people at the bar. We ordered 2, very basic things from the menu, 5 minutes later, the waiter returned and said "the cook says he can only make sandwiches tonight" Why advertise yourself as a restaurant if your cook is too lazy to prepare basic menu items? I will say the decor was nice and the waiter was friendly, but this was very disappointing.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We were in town for a wedding and stopped by here on two occasions. One occasion was for dinner on a Friday night. It was not very busy and we were instantly sat down. The staff was very friendly and helpful helped navigate the menu. I am a big craft beer drinker and love trying new beers when I am in new areas. The server helped me pick a few out and I was highly impressed. The food was delicious and came out quickly. The second occasion was on a Saturday night. We had a large after wedding party come through and we all went upstairs. The bartenders (Rachel and Nick I believe) were both great and very attentive. DJ SKID was there and AMAZING. Great selection of music and very interactive with the crowd. We were even able to order food (fries and chicken bites), which is huge. Go here for a delicious meal with the family or to dance for hours while cold drinks are poured plentifully.

Yelp
I went on a Tuesday night and it was packed! It was really loud, and really popular apparently. It had a cool ambiance to it. Seating were all high tops in the area I sat. The food was okay, and not anything special. The portion sizes seemed pretty big. The staff though were wonderful! Our waiter was so friendly, and such a hard worker! Also, others working were very, very friendly! Love the employees, love the location, didn't love the noise level or the food though!

Yelp
Stopped in before a performance at Blumenthal on a Wednesday night around 6. Was shocked to see how packed it was, half hour wait for a table! We got lucky and found 2 seats at the bar, and the service was outstanding. Bartenders were personable and did a great job with our old fashioned drinks. There was even live music and he was perfect!
google avatar

Carlo Y.

Yelp
We are just walking uptown and got hungry, so we decided to give this place a try. The pub has great live music on Friday night, the atmosphere just feels great. The staffs are nice and friendly, it is hard to find now days. The fish and chips that I ordered was hot, the fish was crispy within lots of crunch, which is how it should be, I just wish the breading has more flavor to it, but overall tasted great.

Yelp
Really loved my experience at RíRá last weekend! It was my first time there. I'm typically not crazy about Irish pubs but I would so surprised at the execution of their food and cocktails!! Their aviation cocktail was one of the best cocktails Ive had in a while. The pretzels and beer cheese were great although we could've used more beer cheese. My husband loved his fish and chips which I tried and was delish. I had the mango glazed cod and it was so good! I don't have high expectations for cod (it's such a boring sounding fish) but this was tender and flavorful--I would love to have again soon! Service was good although they were busy. Can't wait to go back and check out the rooftop!

Yelp
Bar is nice and food decent but service is absolutely terrible. Unless you enjoy being ignored by the server, then this is the place to go. Owner should be concerned.

Yelp
RiRa is an Irish bar with an Irish inspired menu. We had the fish & chips (was a tasty large amount), had the beef tips (over cooked in my husband option), Irish chicken curry (sister in law said it was dry but asked for extra curry sauce and was a lot better), chicken bites (I had the chill spice sauce & absolutely loved it), we also ordered the pretzel bites which were good & the sausage wrapped in puff pastry which was a lot like a pig in a blanket but 10x bigger and very tasty! It was a Saturday night so very busy. Food took a bit longer than normal but our server was very nice, friendly and apologetic. Connor def provided us with amazing service. He made sure to check on us often and had the drinks continuously flowing! They also had some great live music. Very large bar. Would def come by again

Yelp
Was in charlotte for work last year and found this place within walking distance from the hotel..now every time I'm in town I make sure to stop in and grab a pint and the fish fry. Definitely recommend

Yelp
Love the authenticity of an Irish pub disassembled there & rebuilt here! Great ambiance, food & drink!

Yelp
We went to RiRa after a Panthers game. We didn't have reservations so we took a seat at the bar. We were able to order food at the bar. The service was great. Our bartender Tashan was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the Patty Melt with a fried egg and a Caesar Salad. My friend has the Patty Melt and onion rings! The Patty melt was filling! I was able to take half of it home. I had a cider sangria and a few mimosas. Tashan suggested a green tea shot and it was great. They have a rooftop but it was overbooked when we were there.

Yelp
This bar has a great vibe. It's dark and moody, but not so dark that you can't see. We came here for a friend's birthday and had a great time. The upstairs is spacious and has plenty of seating, so you can find a spot to relax and chat with friends. I would definitely come back here for a bite to eat, as well as drinks. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun and relaxed place to hang out with friends.

Yelp
So it is a decent Irish pub. Soccer on the Telly, Guinness on tap. I had what I call shepherds pie, they call it something else. It was good, it was good. Service, not so much. I never received any silverware. Now the pie came with a spoon so that was okay but I had to butter my bread with straws I took from the bar dispenser. The bartender was busy talking and watching the footy on the Telly. I am sure she thought she was doing a freakin, and she is friendly, I don't.

Loved Ri Ra! My partner was visiting from Ireland for St. Paddy's Day and I wanted him to feel somewhat at home haha. A little Temple Bar-ish but we still had a great time. The Good: we got a seat for dinner on St. Paddy's in about 20 mins which I thought was impressive. Service by...Dallas (if I'm remembering correctly) was fantastic despite them being completely slammed. Friendly and on top of everything we needed. I've been craving fish and chips and those did not disappoint. Probably the best I've had in the US. My partner really liked his Bangers and Mash as well. Decent pours of Guinness, too. The bar looked really cool and I'd love to go back and get a better look when it's not so crowded in a sea of drunken green. The Meh: Guinness in plastic cups....wah wahhhh. I'm sure they ran out of glasses, though. I hope that's the reason anyway. Too many people around us ordering Irish Car Bombs, too. Many Americans may not know this, but that's highly offensive to the Irish. We'd be pissed if we went to Europe and saw they had a drink called the 9/11 (*cue The More You Know music*). Would just be nice if it wasn't an option at an Irish place but maybe that's a stretch for a bar in America haha. Other than it being a bit cringy, it didn't stop us from having a great St. Paddy's time! The Bad: some drunk girl at the bar who thought it was cool to do a super loud mating/cat call/dying whale screech over and over. That's not on Ri Ra....it's on her poor, booze-fueled decisions. Everyone at the bottom bar was cringing. So, other than some things you'd expect to come with the dumpster fire that is St. Paddy's in the US, it was a great time and I will 100% be back for more fish and chips.

Yelp
Ri Ra is located in a great spot. It's in a busy and safe part of uptown. Lots of bars nearby to check out. There's a $10 parking deck around the corner and limited free street parking. The restaurant is surprisingly big. There's an upstairs bar thats more lounge style seating. Late night they have a DJ upstairs. They also have tons of TVs to watch sports on. As for food, the reuben was fantastic. In addition to the main menu, they have a late night menu that starts at 10pm. Overall I had a great experience and I can't wait to check it out again!

Yelp
This has long been one of my favorite places to hang out in Charlotte, particularly in the uptown area. I frequented the bar when I lived in the area, I brought friends here when they visited, and after I moved away I made it a regular practice to stop in each time I was back in town. So it pains me to know I can go no higher than three stars with this review. After all, it's such a great atmosphere, what with its straight-from-the-home-country bar and traditional feel. But in my last encounter there, I found that the quality of service has dropped off immensely. Rí Rá was once top notch in terms of their bartenders and wait staff, but now it seems the new breed of workers have forgotten how to be cordial, welcoming, or prompt. I was also severely disappointed by the menu, as nearly all the best dishes have been culled from the list. Was this a temporary arrangement due to the pandemic and supply issues? I surely hope so, because otherwise the combination of a limited menu and crappy customer service will doom what was once a brilliant star amongst the uptown scene. Bring back the Ri Rá of old!

Yelp
I've been contemplating writing this review on here due to the nature but since I seem to get no response when I call in I'm not left with much of a choice. The food is always incredible here, I love coming for lunch since it's well priced & in the same plaza as my office. We loved throwing events for our office. My review is based on the something I never thought I'd have to leave a review for...our server Laura was friendly but it was upsetting to walk between the ally next to sea level with other executives & catch her & some of the staff doing Cocaine. I'm appalled!!! How can a place allow the staff to sneak out and do that in the middle of the shift or at all! she has helped me before during events and I'm just absolutely shocked! Please provide me the number to corporate or whoever runs the establishment

Yelp
With a party of 35 and very little notice on a Sunday night, Rí Rá was incredible. Our main server Dustin (?) was fantastic, friendly, and accurate. Drinks were served quickly, our appetizers came out quickly, and the food was delivered exactly as ordered quickly and full of flavor. My appetizer was the poutine, ordered vegetarian and it was great. They could probably add a few more cheese curds, but of course someone from Wisconsin would say that I ordered the fish 'n chips for my entree, which was a massive portion, totally worth the price paid and very very good. If I lived in Charlotte, this would be a regular spot based on my experience. It's one of the few restaurants in the downtown area that has attentive servers, good service, and great food.

Yelp
Four stars mostly for the customer service. I'd say the food is 3. My friend had a burger with sweet potato fries and liked it! I had some bones less mild chicken bites and some curry fries. I also ordered a dessert. My food was fine. I wouldn't write home about it, but it wasn't bad. The dessert was definitely burnt though and I left most of it. Our server was new, but let us know and honestly did a great job. Was a good stop after a show at Belk Theater.
