Riad Hotels in the Old Medinas of Morocco

"We’ve got nothing against riads owned by foreigners, but it’s a mark in Riad Fès’s favor that its owner is Moroccan, and an architect, no less — the interiors are a good bit more confident than in the average riad hotel, and you can tell it was laid out with some care. It’s on the large size for a riad, but the intimate atmosphere and personalized service riad hotels are famous for are there, in spades." - Mark Fedeli

"To learntraditional Moroccan home cooking, look no further than Café Clock, where Souad will verse you in the essential flavors and techniques of local cuisine so you can take an authentic taste of Morocco back with you. In a comfortable kitchen above the café, you’ll prepare a three-course lunch featuring traditional soups and salads, tagines or couscous, patisserie and bread. If you want to delve into what modern Moroccan cooking looks like, head to Dar Namir. Classes for groups of two to four people are held in aprivate courtyard kitchen and dining room, andthefocus is on dishes for entertaining—like chicken, olive, and preserved-lemon briouats (crunchy parcels) with a harissa-and-mint dipping sauce, or lamb marinated in souk spices and slow-roasted on a bed of fennel. Five dishes are made and devoured by the class, along with a tasting oftwo boutique Moroccan wines."

Riad Fès was a wonderful experience during our stay in the ancient Medina — luxurious, comfortable, and full of history. The architecture and interior design are stunning. Everywhere you look, there are beautiful details: carved plaster, mosaics, arches, and a mix of classic Moroccan elegance with modern comfort. The atmosphere feels like stepping into a restored palace, but the price is still very reasonable for the quality you receive. We stayed in the L’Ambassadeur Suite, located on the 3rd floor terrace overlooking a small inner garden. Our room was elegant, quiet, and beautifully decorated, with a sitting area and views over the patios. It really feels like time slows down — refined, authentic, and very comfortable. I love that every suite in this Riad is unique, respecting the history of the building. The rooftop was one of the highlights — watching the sunset over Fes, with a glass of wine in hand, was romantic and unforgettable. The panoramic view of the Medina is incredible, especially when the city lights start to glow. Breakfast is included and served as a generous buffet, with a great mix of local and international options. Fresh pastries, Moroccan pancakes, fruits, yogurt, honey, eggs, good coffee — everything was delicious. We also enjoyed a dinner at the hotel restaurant. The service was excellent — attentive and warm — and the experience of dining next to the central pool with live music felt very special. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for elegance and a romantic atmosphere in Fes.

Staying here for 3 nights. Great location and stunning views of the Fes Medina and surrounding areas from the rooftop. My flight got in late and they helped arrange an airport pickup which made getting to the hotel so much easier! Breakfast was great, beautiful room with a lovely fireplace and great food. Rooftop was also wonderful with Moroccan wines by the glass and yummy food. Achraf was wonderful and very helpful! Highly recommend for the hotel, but if not, at least swing by for the rooftop views!

We had a fabulous 4 night stay at Fes Relais and Chateaux. The breakfast is amazing and we had dinner twice in the dining room. We also enjoyed the barbecue on the roof top terrace.|Anwar at the front desk checked us in and couldn’t have been more helpful throughout our stay. He organised a driver to Volubilis for us which was a great excursion. Thank you Anwar!|We also really enjoyed relaxing around the pool after our days walking around Fes.

We were staying at another hotel and dropped in by chance for a drink. Glad we did. Stunning property which is atmospheric through lighting and design and visually attractive with a high end finish.||Sitting on the rooftop bar, watching the sunset and listening to the calls to prayer will live long in the memory. The view across the medina is superb. The rooftop team led by Abdul couldn't have been more helpful. Heaters and ponchos are provided when it gets cold. We couldn't remember the way back to our hotel so one of the staff escorted us back. Great service. ||We returned on the 2nd night for dinner. Good food with a mixed menu of traditional French and Moroccan food. Happy to cater for allergies and to combine individual dishes.||We will return.

My family’s stay at this Riad was beyond memorable. All the 4 of us loved every detail of the Riad. The staff couldn’t be more professional or nicer and to name a couple Anwar and Aya. The location was perfect allowing us to access the Old Town as was the rest. The decoration was breathtakingly beautiful and authentic. We were upgraded to an amazing room on the roof top. Breakfast, the bar,the dining were excellent. Would highly recommend it to everyone visiting Fez.

We stopped in for a quick afternoon meal and a coffee. The selection of eight Moroccan vegetable dishes was especially good. Service was excellent, and the outdoor space was nicely decorated and quiet. Prices a little steep for Morocco, but not excessively so.
