Chicago’s Best Restaurants for Outdoor Dining | Eater Chicago

"Hermosa’s dining scene has erupted in recent years, and one of the reasons is the delightful Venezuelan food at Rica Arepa. The signature with shredded chicken and beef, plus gouda, is a sweet and savory treat. There’s also a solid veggie option. The indoor/outdoor patio is comfortable in any season, allowing customers to peacefully sink into an arepa — or meat-centric parrilla or cachapa (savory filled pancake) — in a casual atmosphere. There’s a similar setup at the restaurant’s Lakeview location. Order pickup or delivery online." - Naomi Waxman

Chicago’s best restaurants with heated patios | Eater Chicago

"The arepa, a cornmeal flatbread stuffed with any manner of meat, cheese, and vegetables, is a staple of Venezuelan cuisine, and those served at Rica Arepa are especially good examples. Both the original location in Hermosa and the second location in Lakeview have heated enclosed patios for the colder months." - Ashok Selvam

Where to Eat Empanadas in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"Venezuelan empanadas have deep-fried corn dough, making them sweeter and bigger than other versions. Rica Arepa makes nearly 25 of them to order until 3 p.m, with varieties including ham and cheese, sweet plantains, shrimp, and pabellon, a traditional mix of shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and sweet plantains. Their newest flavor is rompe-colchon, stuffed with an octopus and shrimp ceviche that’s meant to be an aphrodisiac. They’re served along with hot sauce and a creamy garlic sauce. The restaurant also has a location in Lakeview." - Sam Nelson

Where to Eat and Drink in Hermosa - Eater Chicago

"Feast on more than two dozen varieties of arepas at this homely Venezuelan spot. Husband-and-wife owners Kharim Rincon and Maria Uzcategui produce light corn cakes that they crisp on the griddle and stuff with meats, cheeses, and other fillings. The popular “Pabellon” features shredded beef, black beans, plantains, and cheese, but there are plenty of options for vegetarians too. Empanadas and Venezuelan-style burgers are similarly impressive. Online ordering is available here." - Jeffy Mai

Stopped in during the week for lunch. Their menu has a lot of different options. The arepas were good (especially the punta trasera & queso de mano) but the meal was so expensive. The arepas do not come with a side. We tried the the tequenos and they were also good. Three arepas, tequenos and two soft drinks $80! Plus more with tip and parking. A very pricey meal for two.

Google
¡Viva! I got here a little later than expected and somewhat close to closing time but they still served me and let me eat in! It was a very kind gesture and I’m thankful because I could give my compliments to the chef the arepa was so good! The empanada also melts in your mouth and is full of delicious flavor. The lemon aid drink helps wash it all down and settle in your stomach. All are fairly priced. I’d definitely go back and try some more of their expansive menu!

Google
We wanted some good food after enjoying some drinks at the nearby Right Bee Cidery. We know a good arepa, so we were eager to try and they did not disappoint! We got a vegan 2 arepa (yes, they have vegan and vegetarian ones) and a ham & cheese empanada and both were delicious! The music / vibe was great too, and the staff was very kind and helpful. We loved this place and would highly recommend!

Google
This restuarant is really nice!! My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch the other day. The food is SUPER tasty!! I had the dos perros calientes and felt like the amount of food for the price was good. They have lots of other options on the menu to choose from as well. The staff were kind and attentive to us. The restuarant has a nice outdoor patio that would be good for the summer weather, we're definitely planning on going back and eating outside.

Google
The food was ok… some price has jumped way high for something so simple. The arepa is not worth the price of 15 bucks. Also slow down when you’re about to tip. There is no standard 15 % on the machine.

Google
The food at Rico Arepa was absolutely amazing! With all the items on the menu, I love the selection with everything being absorbed with delicious flavors. It truly exceeded my expectations. (The Rico Bowl..... Absolutely Delicious)

Google
My husband and I recently moved to the area and heard great things about this restaurant. We decided to try it for brunch today. We ordered the sampler platter appetizer, beef patacon, beef arepa and the Venezuelan Lemonade. I can’t remember the name of the arepa, but it had black beans, maduros and cheese) We were not impressed by sampler appetizer. The plantains and little cachapas were almost burned; not worth the $17. The arepa was good. The patacon was just ok, again the plantain was almost burned. The meat flavor was ok, but I will not order patacon again. The lemonade was delicious 😋

Google
Authentic and delicious arepas in a very unassuming atmosphere. The place is welcoming and the menu has a lot of vegan and vegetarian food. The arepas are very filling. I had a black bean and cheese arepa and loved it. They can be a little bland for some palates but the sauces and condiments are great. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
I have tried this place a couple of times! They have a soup that is great for hangovers! I'm not a big fan of their tequeños, but empanadas are great, my favorite empanada is the pabellón one and is delicious. The ambiance is great, they have indoor AC and outdoor seating They are BYOB. My current favorite is the fried pork! Very friendly staff. I'm coming back to try their parrilla!

Yelp
This was so good!! My husband & I ordered the Arepa punta trasera con queso de Mano y guasacaca , the Rica Punta arepa "Please add sweet plantains. The Tostones with cheese and a chicken Empanada. The arepas are big! We could have probably shared one and the empanada and we would have been fine. The empanada was the star of the show, holy moly was it good. It's way bigger than a traditional empanada so the price makes sense. The tostones were okay, I could have done without. One thing I'd recommend is for the restaurant to have sides. We really wanted just a side of rice and ended up making some at home to go with our order. Overall, would order again!

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place. They've got a great little outdoor patio, the food was amazing, & the service was great. Can't wait to go back.

Jaime R.

Yelp
Pésima atención al cliente, ofrecen productos que no van acorde al resultado final, las carnes estaban demasiado secas. Al realizar el reclamo la mesera-cajera no le importó y ella es quien tiene la razón sobre el cliente.

Yelp
Rica arepa is an amazing Venezuelan restaurant in the Hermosa neighborhood. They have plenty of vegan options. I got the arepa with black beans, plantains and avocado. It was delicious! I will definitely be coming back and trying more arepas. I also got the papelon drink which is cane sugar juice with lime. It was very good too! They have plenty of seating area and outdoor patio when the weather is nice. It was great service, everyone was friendly and helpful. There is street parking available in front of the restaurant.

Yelp
The place is byob my friend Brenda like this place so we go This time, we order the rompe colchon and the arepitas with chicken and beef There is no corge fee, so that's good

Yelp
I love this place so much. Chicago is a city full of good food, but this place is by far one of my favorites for takeout.

Yelp
Wow! Idk if I need to say anything else but this was one of the best Arepas I've ever had! I wasn't sure what to expect but let me tell I will be coming here any time I am in Chicago. The size of the arepa is a perfect size, it large enough you'll be full but the flavors will have you wanting another one over and over. I'd recommend adding the house garlic sauce to your arepa, it's delicious. There was an explosion of flavors in my mouth, the beef was tender and juicy and the freshness of the avocado gave it a good balance. The cheese was fresh and the sauce that joined the arepa was delicious. The service was quick, the ambiance was clean, chill and a homey vibe. There's cute decor too. I would love to come when it's warm out and see the patio. I'd recommend coming here with friends and family!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Arepas, and I must ask myself why did it take so long for me to finally try them. They had a few tables open and we were able to get a table right away. Service was great. The entire staff all helped out and made sure we were all taken care of. The wife and I both ordered their Pabellon Arepa. At first I thought it was a little pricey as first, thinking they were small. The one Arepa is definitely filling. The Arepa came with shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and cheese. The sweet plantains really made this dish phenomenal. The shredded beef was also very flavorful. I also ordered an empanada and it came with the same shredded beef. This was also very huge and got full with both the Arepa and empanada. We also ordered their Brazo Gitano for dessert. The pictures on Yelp looked delicious and I knew I had to try it. A cake with dulce de leche. It was sweet and the perfect dessert to finish off a great meal. I will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I came seeking a vegan arepa, and got a different taste from anything else I've had in Chicago. As I often find with arepas, this thing was so stuffed that it overflowed, and I don't know how you'd eat it without some help from a fork. Mine had some well-spiced black beans, a few plantains, and a bunch of avocado. The beverage I tried on the side was something like a horchata, but with dairy milk and it was a bit too sweet for me. I had some hope that going farther from the center of town would be a bit cheaper, but this was a pricey arepa. It was good, though, and there were many other vegetarian and vegan (and GF) options. It's also the sort of place where I was the only one there that doesn't speak Spanish (at least, not well). They have a second location, too.

Yelp
Rica Arepa was deeelish! My boyfriend and I had arepas arepas a few days prior to stopping into Rica. They weren't that good so we needed to fulfill our tastebuds demands. Soooooo happy we found Rica. Their whole menu looks really good and they even have a VEGAN menu!!!! Love that! My boyfriend ordered the reg tropical arepa I ordered the vegan tropical and...another vegan arepa, I added an egg to that one ( seen in video). My goodness, did they hit the spot. I didn't know how big or small they would come so the second one i saved for lunch the next day. I ate it cold (lol) and it still hit the spot. Totally hit the spot. I know you're wondering, we'll why not 5 stars. Well that's only because they had a super cute patio that was closed, it's summer time chi...I need that outside vibe and the service was ok. I think with one or two more severs, they'll be just fine.

Yelp
I'm surprised I haven't heard of this place earlier! The food is super good and prices very reasonable. This is a great spot to check out if you are looking for authentic Venezuelan food. The menu is expansive and I had difficulty selecting what to order since I wanted to try so much of it. We ended up getting the tostones as an appetizer, and I got pabellon arepa as my main. All of the food was delicious! The arepa was really stuffed with beef, it was difficult to get a full bite haha. I liked how flavorful the meat was, and the plantains topped inside was a nice touch. We finished our meal with a tres leches and it was incredibly good!! It was a decently sized slice, and it was so moist and fluffy and sweet - YUM. Overall we had a great experience and definitely feel like this place is underrated. The food is flavorful, the menu has many interesting items, and price was reasonable. I'll be coming back for more!

Yelp
On a whim, a friend and I decided to get some arepas, and we just found this in the area. Ordered on the phone, the girl who took our order did not speak great English, but with patient and grace, we both got through it. We went to collect our food, and the restaurant was absolutely spotless clean, smelled great, and as soon as I looked through the kitchen window, I knew the food would be great because the chefs looked like Hispanic mamas who just knew what they were doing. The girls at the counter were super sweet and polite. We grabbed our food and went our way. Got back to work, and sampled the food and.... WOW!!! My friend got the chicken arepas with avocado and both LOVED it!!! Friend got two, and I bought my husbanf two. Holy smokes these were so nicely stuffed, they both tapped out after 1 arepa each. I ordered the shrimp and the fish empanadas, and these are soooooo good. But if you're not someone who can stomach a greasy empanada, these are not for you! Taste-wise these are SO on point!!!! The white sauce on the side served with the arepas and the empanadas is to die for. Mildly sweet, but super flavorful. Absolutely amazing. I'm going to be going back again, and again, and again!!!

Yelp
This a great little neighborhood place. The menu has a small vegan option which I was pleasantly surprised. They have patio which is nice because the place itself is small and busy. They are always busy with sit in and take out. They staff is quick and friendly. Highly recommend for great food in the area.

Jose' D.

Yelp
The food here is the best Venezuelan we have had in Chicago!! Def recommend this place.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Cute outdoor dining when it's nice outside, good arepas with many to choose from (lots of shredded beef options), good sauce with decent service and small inside so order takeout in the winter.
google avatar

Rerajitha M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that this chicken patacon was one of the best tasting dishes I've ever had!!!! This place is amazing!!! Even the arepa was so flavorful and fresh. Everything was great. Will definitely be back for more patacones!! I definitely recommend them! P.S. sub the patacon with sweet plantain- it's life changing!!!!
google avatar

Ericka Q.

Yelp
Arepa cabimera was absolutely delicious as well as the tajadas with cheese. The last time I had an arepa like this was in Florida so I was so happy to eat one again! they don't sell them everywhere.

Yelp
I am here in Chicago just for the Holidays , I live in Montana where there are not any Venezuela restaurants. My stepson wanted to make me happy so he ordered the special Christmas menu ( plus extra ) , he had eat arepas there before so he assumed the food was going to be good as well BUT sad to say it was the worst pernil ( pork ) with tons of salt and adobo powder , impossible to eat , the salad- Ensalada de gallina was the worst also , went straight to the garbage , the tequeños also , the hallacas and ham bread were acceptable ( was the only food we didn't throw to the garbage ) I will not recommend this restaurant at all !
google avatar

Giovanny G.

Yelp
Arepa is good here just a-little price. Tries other places and it wasn't like here. I definitely recommend it bere
google avatar

Damaris Natali H.

Yelp
Amazing place! As soon as you walk in the place is very clean and bright. Good music and the food is amazing. I ordered 2 arepas, they came out right away and the flavors were like no other. The garlic sauce also gave it a good flavor and the hot sauce. It wasn't too spicy but gave it the right amount of flavor. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in Chicago again.

Renee V.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for areas. The service is always friendly and the food is always on point.
google avatar

Yelp
I came to this restaurant with high expectations being that I'm originally from Venezuela and left extremely happy. The food is amazing, extremely flavorful and great portions. We got empanadas, parrilla for 2 and the tequeños, very impressed with how fulfilling all of these are. The service was also very professional, helpful and fast. All the people who served us spoke Spanish. The prices can be a bit expensive but I promise you it's worth it. Definitely will be coming back to try other items from their menu as well as desserts.

Yelp
Yum yum yum! I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile so on my day off, I decided to swing by here for an early dinner. I walked in, went to the counter in the back, and was told I could sit anywhere I would like. I was given the menu and went straight for the arepas because thats what they're known for! I looked at the menu and asked my server what she would recommend. She said that since it was my first time, she recommended the Arepa Pabellón, so that I could taste what the original arepa is like. I went with the recommendation and ordered the Chicha Venezolana as my drink. The Chicha Venezolana was so good! It's similar to an horchata but with a thicker consistency - if you've ever had arroz con leche, imagine that but all blended together. I really enjoyed it and it was nice to drink throughout my meal and at the end to hit my taste for dessert. Now, the arepa...it was amazing! It was so large that I wasn't sure how to eat it at first but just push it all down and go for it! The arepa pabellón had shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and sweet plantains - what a delicious combination! They also give you 3 sauces to put on the arepa, a red and green sauce (both have a kick of spice), and a garlic sauce (very similar to garlic aioli). I tried all three and various combinations of them as I made my way through the arepa. I ended up liking a generous amount of the red sauce with a small dollop of the garlic sauce - just writing this out makes me want another one! All in all, great menu, helpful service, and even better food. All of this was affordable and I cannot wait to go again and take some of my friends here. Definitely a hidden gem on the north side!

Sergio A.

Yelp

Yelp
This spot is it! I ordered the pabellón, a vegan arepa and a cheese arepa for my little one. Everyone was happy. Food was fresh, fast, and FLAVORFUL. Rica Arepa has a patio that I will have to check. Out in the warmer months. The inside is cuuutte and I absolutely loved seeing a restaurant fully operated and staffed by womyn! Don't snooze on this restaurant.

Yelp
So we got a $50 gift card to their place.I ordered $34 in food, for take out. I wanted to pay with gift card and they told me I had to spend the whole $50. Did not like that so I paid cash. Food was very good. Will come back, but not happy about gift card

Yelp
If you're still in that phase of your relationship where you're trying to be a dainty eater, move along. We've been to Rica Arepa three times now, always for carry out. There is a good selection of arepas for meat eaters and vegetarians with vegan and gluten free options to boot. At some point I'd like to dine on their patio, it's quite nice looking. Portions are generous and the flavors are on point. The corn used is perfect, sweet, but not overly so. Their maduros are also delicious. So why isn't this a romantic date spot? Because I've yet to eat an arepa and not go through a ridiculous number of napkins. This isn't just a Rica thing, I've been to other arepa places and the one downfall of these delicious little corn pockets is how messy they are. I've only tried the vegetarian options, but husband has eaten a number of the meal options and is a fan. We do prefer the favorite part of the arepa menu. Bottom line, we're fans and don't care if we look like savages devouring our meal. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars for tonight's visit I would. POV My family of 5, my husband and I and our three kids plus infant (not dining obviously) go in to eat dinner at 6:45pm. Get menu and water at 6:50pm get order taken by a female waitress. Doesn't write anything down. Asked us to repeat order and walks away rudely. 5 minutes later comes back to ask AGAIN what my husband ordered. My children get their food first but one by one minutes apart. Fine, they eat first I'm happy with that. Only plus here. Everyone now has their food except me, never got out appetizers either at this point. It's now 7:30pm. Also note it's not busy. My husband who is now half way though dinner goes to see what the hold up is with the appetizer and my food, as no one has checked to see how we're doing at all. She's speaking Spanish and my husband isn't fluent so he states it seems she fucked up. My husband comes back at out as we're sitting in the patio and says they never made it and she put it in. 8 minutes pass and still no food. Another waiter a guy asked how we're doing and I told him I still haven't gotten my food. No apology and says let me check. Another 4 minutes passed and the original waitress comes " to see how we're doing" even though she knew at this point I haven't gotten my food. Tell her to cancel the order and bring my check and box for my toddlers food. She's like you don't want the food, I'm like no my family has been done eating for 20 minutes now. She tried blaming the kitchen for me not getting the food, I'm like the food gets put in by you which I'm sure you forgot to put in and you bring to the table not the kitchen. NEVER an apology, only excuses and blaming others. Never let me fix this, absolutely nothing. Waitresses need training in customer service and need and should write it down as they obviously can't remember. Kicker is they tried charging us a side of fries that we didn't order! So there's that too. I hope the owner reads this and checks her staff, we will not be returning and it's due to staff like this.

Yelp
I got the arepa pabellon. SO GOOD!! Such good flavors and a really large amount of food. I've only had arepas once while I was in Spain and while these aren't necessarily the same as I had there, it's still absolutely delicious! Better than most meals you sit down and pay 50 bucks for. Also people were super nice. If I lived here I would frequent this spot!! Thanks rica arepa!

Julia L.

Yelp
Such good food and the staff are so friendly. They have very cute out door seating in the warmer months as well

Yelp
El servicio una mierda, la comida con mucha mostaza y para rematar que te atienden como un culo, se olvidan de los pedidos y tienen el descaro de poner la propina obligatoria en la cuentan, que molleja, coño e la madre, Sapegato con ese restaurante.

Yelp
Came here on a weeknight, and it wasn't busy. When we walked in, we weren't sure whether to sit down or if you need to order at the counter, but once we walked to the back we were instructed to grab a table and wait. Our waitress was very pleasant and after we explained it was our first time, she ran us through the entire menu and recommended certain items. We ordered 2 of the signature arepas (pabellon and rica reina) and both were delicious! We also got some tequeños to start, which were like cheese sticks but so much better! Everything was very affordable and the food came out very quickly. The service was exceptional. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and would for sure go back!

Yelp
This needs to be said. When I went to @ricaarepachicago this past Friday , I felt like I was chilling back in South America. This awesome Venezuelan restaurant is located on the northwest side of Chicago. From the time I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warmth as salsa music was played in the background. Due to the new restrictions, I ate outside in the patio with my table separated from the other clients. I met a cool couple from Venezuela who recently moved to Chicago and we spoke in Spanish about the soccer game, cuisine and adjusting to life in the US. Now the food. .I am practicing intermittent fasting so I was ready to chow down at noon. I ordered a Domino arepa which the arepa is stuffed with cheese and black beans and a second stuffed arepa with cheese and ripe plantains. Both of them were delicious. I also ordered a vegan plantain empanada. In comparison to the Colombian empanada, it was HUGE and delicious. I took my sweet time devouring this delicacy. The papelón con limón was a delicious drink. It was delicious but not overly sweet. The young lady was surprised to see my clean plate but my appetite is legendary. I concluded my visit with the dessert plate of tequeños with Nutella. These are cheese sticks with the famous Nutella! Spread. It was a cool mixture and it definitely worked but my eyes were bigger than my belly and I had to take it home. Éxito,@ricaarepachicago y gracias por todo! (Much success and thank you for everything! #venezuela #ricaarepachicago #arepas

Yelp
Never tried arepa before and decided to check this place out. Spectacular service! Our waitress took the time to explain everything on the menu and even gave a few recommendations to try since we have never been. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. The arepas we tried were delicious! My favorite was actually the "cheese sticks" in the appetizer section (better than any cheese sticks ever!). Parking is not available on site but there are paid for parking on the streets surrounding the restaurant. There is free parking a block over if you are willing to walk. Most of the street parking surrounding the restaurant is permit only. So you will have to circle to find the non-permit ones if you don't want to pay for parking.

Yelp
Espectacular! Amazing! The service was great, very friendly. You have the option to sit inside or outside (they have heaters if its too cold). The price of the food is reasonable not expensive. They do carry some Colombian beverages like Colombiana, Postobon. There is no parking for the restaurant but you can park on the street. I would definitely recommend it!
google avatar

Debi L.

Yelp
This food was SO DELICIOUS! We sat out on their heated patio, which was otherwise empty on a Thursday night. We each got 2 arepas, which was probably about half an arepa too much for each of us; when we go back, we'll share three. Everything we ate was good, the service was really quick and very friendly, and we wished we had room for more food. Totally worth the trip!

Yelp
Another day of randomly wandering around Chicago led me to Rica Arepa! I had been wanting arepas and tequeños for a while, and since all of the other Venezuelan places are so far from me, this was a nice change! I was really eager to try the food, so I snapped a quick picture of the outside of the building and walked in! Once in, I was greeted in Spanish and told that I could sit wherever I wanted (FYI the wait staff speaks English as well!) A quick look at the tables around me let me know quickly that I was in for a treat! I saw empanadas, and arepas that seemed to be on steroids! Having already had a taste for arepas, I saved myself the headache of going through the whole menu, and went straight to the arepas! I decided to take it easy having already seen the size of the arepas, so I ordered one arepa and a glass of water (of course in hopes of ordering more later). While waiting for the food I continued to enjoy the salsa playing in the background as well as the counter full of Venezuelan candies/sweets. Not too long after the arepa was ready and it looked delicious!!! The arepa was literally STUFFED and it took me a while to even figure out where/hot to start. After I finally figured out, I just picked it up and bit into it! The arepa was nice and crispy yet soft on the inside, and the flavors of the meat added the perfect mix! The sauces they gave made the arepas even better!!!! After overhearing a conversation about empanadas I decided that I may as well go ahead and order one because.....why not. A friend of mine had mentioned eating cazon (type of shark) before, and after seeing it in the menu I figured I would give it a shot! DELICIOUS!!!!!! I ended up taking it to go, and people asked me what I had that smelled so good!!! Needless to say, I'll be back to try everything else on the menu

Yelp
Went in two weeks ago on a rainy Tuesday. Food amazing as usual Service gets worst every time. I will start getting carry out only. The waitress seemed annoyed that we weren't ready. Then answered her cell phone and started chating while at our table. I was in disbelief but it got worst, I asked for small share plates for my kids and she said sure walked to the kitchen window and talked while I waited. I just got up and grabbed them myself. Food is great but the service is truly ruining this place for me.

Yelp
Imposible de comer, estaba saliendo el aceite por todos lados, muy bonito lugar creo deberían enfocarse más en la calidad de comida.

Yelp
Pretty good, not my absolute favorite. Not many extravagant options for what's inside like at Bien MeSabe, but I enjoyed the arepa itself. Highlight of my meal was the flan. I got the chicken and avocado. Decently sized slices of avocado inside and the chicken itself was not heavily brined so I throughly enjoyed it. I would recommend it. Overall very authentic and homey restaurant.

Yelp
We've been here twice now and wow it just keeps me wanting to come back. Last time I was here I had the chicken and avocado (reina pepiada) arepa and this time I had pabellon. I do wish that sancocho was ready because I was looking forward for it for this visit but hey there's always next Sunday! The atmosphere and staff are excellent and just very accommodating. It's a gem and a great find in Chicago. I would say, watch out, Bienmesabe! :) I definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Rica arepa is one of those places you want to remain a "hidden spot", for when your friends come to visit (someday again), and they get to have an amazing authentic dish that they can't get in there cookie cutter hometowns that have no flavor ;) Hermosa is quickly becoming the next Logan Sq, and I hope this place gets its just do as one of the best Puerto Rican foodie spots in the city. Btw, THE WHOLE MENUS amazing

Yelp
Their food is pretty good. I can say it's definitely filling, if you eat just one arepa. I had the rica reina. My drink was the papelón con limón. The drink was delicious! I highly recommend it. The arepa was well seasoned. It was huge. I didn't know quite how to eat it, whether to use their silverware or using my hands only. Regardless, I made it work. I stuffed that puppy inside my mouth somehow. The only thing I didn't really like was the cheese. I honestly think it could've been prepared with cotija cheese instead. I don't know, just a suggestion. The service is good. The staff is very friendly and answer any questions about the menu with kindness.

Yelp
So I just ordered from here today and it was delicious I had the Vegan 2 arepa and I loved it. The maduros were perfect and the arepa was really stuffed! I wish there were more sides options. I also ordered a regular bean and cheese arepa and that was also really good, the cheese was like a queso fresco.

Yelp
We had a lovely time here. The arepas were absolutely delicious and we fell in love with the Chicha Venezelano drink - similar to Horchata but creamier and very delicious. The staff was great and the food came out hot and fresh. They have a lovely patio to dine at when the weather is nice outside. Thank you for an amazing dinner and we will visit again as this is our favorite arepa spot in Chicago.

Yelp
My go to spot for Arepas. I've been here multiple times, customer service is good and food is great. I always order tequeños and the pabellon arepa. And do not forget to try Frescolita - Venezuelan Soda!

Yelp
Picked up a to go order of some of my favorite foods (venezuelan arepas and cachapas) to enjoy while I'm on a project for work. Everything was packed up nicely and kept warm on the long car ride back to the hotel which is always appreciated. The arepas were delicious, I ordered the Caribeña arepa which is stuffed cheese and maduros, my favorite combination. The cachapa was pretty good but it was a little too sweet. I still enjoyed it, but would prefer it to have less sugar. I love sweet corn, but the added sugar was too much. We also got an order of tequeños with nutella and those were delicious. I would highly recommend the tequeños and arepas, but maybe try another spot for a cachapa. If you've never tried Venezuelan food, you need to. It's my favorite Latin American cuisine.
