Filipino Newcomer, Ma’am Sir, Gets a Solid Four Star Review From TimeOut Critic | Eater LA

"A tiny Downtown rice-focused spot previously run by chef Charles Olalia earned accolades for serving reasonably priced Filipino comfort dishes and helped establish his reputation before he opened his Silver Lake restaurant." - Matthew Kang

I've Got Something to S.

Google
I work near here and go to rice bar often! It’s a great spot for lunch. If you like a good bulgogi bowl to go, then I’d recommend you coming here. During lunch hours it’s super busy so be prepared for a crowd and customers who are on a lunch time limit. The employees are nice, but they aren’t through the roof nice, and I can’t blame them with how busy they are. The food is good, but not amazing which is why I can’t give it a 5.

Emma S.

Google
This was genuinely soo delicious. It was the perfect balance between healthy and comforting. I had a bulgogi bowl with black rice and some vegetables and everything tastes so fresh! The pineapple cream soda from the softdrink machine was very good too. Any combination you get here will bring you a satisfying meal. I wish I had this sort of shop where I live…

When visiting the city, we always stop by for lunch at this wonderful establishment. You can assemble your own bowl or choose a bowl or noodles, which is already listed on the menu. All products are fresh, the workers are friendly and very fast. It is always clean, cool, there is a small toilet.

Google
Rice Bar Marketplace is a fun and customizable spot where you can make your own bibimbap. The ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and I liked being able to pick exactly what I wanted in my bowl. The flavours come together really well, and it’s a quick, satisfying meal whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout.

suzanne R.

Google
Thought it was great, nice quick nourishing meal, flavorful and filling. Got the spicy chicken bibimbap bowl with black rice, husband got bulgogi bibimbap (beef) with ramen noodles. Mine had a nice kick to it, husbands was more mild

Google
This Korean chain restaurant refilled me up with decent, healthy, and fast food after visiting those amazing museums. I ordered a beef bibimbap with four free sides. More sides and proteins had extra charges. Everything tasted fresh and delicious with Korean spicy sauce and a poached egg. Their ramen and hot stone entrees also looked delicious. There were some cute claw machines. The dining room was a little small and packed with people, but their staff did a great job with excellent service.

Google
A great spot for a quick meal! There’s lots of options for bases, protein, and vegetables. When you come in, you fill out a sheet with your order and hand it to the staff who prepare your meal quickly. They offer noodle dishes, bibimbap, and other items. The ingredients are fresh and fairly flavorful, yet it doesn’t compare to a true Korean restaurant. The staff was not the most friendly, but was likely tired from dealing with confused customers with the ordering process and a huge amount of people coming into the store for lunch. This spot would be great for takeout or delivery while busy/working. Come here for a customizable, decently healthy and filling meal.

Google
Sorry for the messy picture. However, this place provides various and colorful bibimbap which is so balanced meal in a bowl. Also the reasonable price, super quick serving, clean space are another benefits that you can enjoy. Aa a Korean, my recommendation for source is gochujang and sesame oil.

Yelp
My friend and I wanted a quick dinner and found Rice Bar on Yelp. It is a Chipotle-style Korean eatery with a variety of rice, lettuce and noodle base options. You pay between $2-5 per protein and can select as many as you want, 4 free toppings and about a $1 for each additional topping. I had a base of half black rice and white rice with galbi and raw tuna as protein. The bowl was huge and about $20. Great sauce selection and meat was tender. Tuna portion was skimpy, but galbi was a nice size scoop. I got a miso soup for $4, okay, not worth the price. It was bland and seemed like old tofu.and overcooked squash in it. I would return again for a quick bite. Seating is a little slim.

Yelp
This place operates like a Korean version of Chipotle, with a slight twist. Before approaching the counter, you write down your name and order on a slip of paper, then hand it to the person at the first station. This person adds your chosen ingredients to a bowl and moves you down the assembly line. This makes for an efficient ordering process in theory; however, there were some bottlenecks on the line as people ahead of me stopped to ask questions about ingredients and sauces. I ordered a bulgogi bibimbap with brown rice, kale, radish salad, eggplant, carrot, and gochujang sauce. The food was tasty and filling. Unfortunately, the rice and bulgogi were not as warm as I would have liked. Also, the person who prepared my bowl substituted mushrooms for the eggplant I requested and I only realized after I had already paid.

Yelp
Rice Bar was a standard "Build Your Own Bowl" fast casual restaurant with a wide variety of toppings, meats, and carb bases. There were these paper menus that you'd check off what you were looking to get, taking out the guesswork on your end and the preparer's end. There were a handful of prebuilt bowls as well in case you weren't sure what to get. I ended up getting the bulgogi bibimbap, and I handed over my slip of paper and actually needed to check off a few more sections that I missed. The preparer was very polite in correcting me. There was a really cool soda station, and I sooo wish I chose to get a soda, but I didn't notice until after I checked out. Overall the food was very standard and fresh. The bulgogi had a great savory flavor to it and the black rice was a nice mix-up from what I'm used to at a "Build Your Own Bowl." I went at 2 pm on a Saturday, and it was actually quite full. The serving line was still very quick and efficient. It took maybe 30 seconds to enter line and check out. Great option if you've got a bunch of different palettes to accommodate for lunch and want something quick and easy.

Yelp
This build a bowl place offers flavors that seemed genuinely Korean to me. This wasn't 100% a good thing, as the pickled radish salad smelled a bit too much after riding with me on the Metro for a while and one of the sauces I got was so salty it made by heart flutter a bit. I appreciated the black rice and the greens and got a decent portion of tofu and vegetables, and it was a quick and easy pickup experience. Given that the whole point is to build a bowl, if I had a chance to do it again I'd pick differently and not use the sauces heavily.

Yelp
If you're looking for the Korean equivalent of Chipotle/Cava, this is your spot. So much customizability - you can get Bibimbop, ramen, and other Asian food here. I ended up getting my own ramen - not the best ramen ever, but for what it was, it was good!

Yelp
Visiting the DC area and we decided to give this place a try since it was nearby and I already had my eyes set on this place. Ordering was very easy and straightforward. The order form has all the information you need. If you're building your own bowl, fill it out to your liking. Two of our orders were incorrect. They fixed it very quickly for us and apologized. Super nice people here. Food tastes very fresh. Love all the options to choose from. This would probably be one of my go to spots if I lived in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Rice Bar is such a good concept full of great food. After filling out your preferred order and sharing the sheet with the nice person behind the counter you get to watch happily as they prepare your excellent order. The Bulgogi was excellent but my favorite part is always the udon noodle base I choose, those noodles really soak up all of the other flavors. The restaurant itself was pretty busy with people coming and going regularly, but there was space and seats aplenty.
google avatar

Linnea E.

Yelp
I love a good bowl place, especially when I love all the things that go in the bowls! Seriously, all of the options are good here and they have paper tickets you can fill out when customizing your bowl which makes the whole process super easy. They also don't skimp on the toppings so you won't leave hungry!
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
An amazing build your own experience, and the perfect spot to warm up after finishing our bike tour. Customers are in control of everything from the noodles and broth, to the topping, with the help of a slip of paper. The ramen was flavorful and for another member of my party who wanted spicy, it delivered. The staff was both friendly and efficient, moving customers down the line but doing it all with a smile. The vibes were just right, a bit of peace with a bright atmosphere. If I visit DC again, I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Chipotle meets Korean. I love this concept and I love bibimbap even more. We came as a party of two during what we hoped would be the downturn of lunch rush at 1:30pm but it was still very busy and we had to wait a couple minutes to find a table in the small but cute space. Kind of like chipotle or sweet green concept, you basically construct your own bibimbap bowl with Korean ingredients (think rice, radishes, carrots, seaweed, kimchi, gojuchang, fried egg, etc). You can also pick a noodle soup base instead of rice. We got one of each. Both bowls had great flavor, very Korean and reminds me of simple Korean home cooking at your childhood friends house. We got the clear noodle broth and it was honestly mind blowing. Excellent umami balance and not oily at all, it paired perfectly with the simple ingredients in my noodle soup. Love this stuff, highly recommend TLDR; come here for a healthy, hearty, classic Korean bibimbap or noodle soup

Yelp
I went yesterday to the rice bar. You can choose any designed bowl or you can create it with the ingredients you like. I ordered a rice bowl with tuna, broccoli, spicy tofu, seaweed salad, onion and soya with teriyaki sauce. My bowl was delicious, I loved it. The service was nice and fast. The ambiance is also great and the place is cute, although I feel the music was too loud.
google avatar

Yelp
My new obsession, I was summoned for jury duty and discovered this spot during my lunch break and have been obsessively going for every lunch break when I've had to report to court, it's just, that good. I've tried their ground beef, their chicken teriyaki with white and black rice and I can't get enough of it. Really efficient serving and way to build bowls but they also have other items on their menu including ramen which is next on my list to try! I wish there was more sitting available as it is sometimes hard to find a spot to seat at during lunch hour.

Yelp
This is a Korean bibimbap counter fast food. This is a small place on the side of the building. I was walking to the Smithsonian and saw this place and remembered to come back for lunch. This place gets packed fast, so try not to come too late in the lunch hour because there is limited seating. You go to the counter and order and it is almost like ordering at burrito place. They provide starch, protein, and you pick the veggies. Food: I ordered the kalbi bibimbap. You get to choose white, brown, or black rice. I got the black rice because hard to find that in most places. The veggies included were all very fresh and flavorful. I got side of Napa cabbage kimchi because well you have to have kimchi with bibimbap. I am actually shocked that by default, you don't get kimchi. The egg was a bit too cooked for what I am used to with bibimbap, but this is fast food and they are premade for speed. Everything was tasty, just wish the bowls were pre warmed because my food got cold fast due to the temperature of the place and the metal bowl. The metal bowl and the tray are metal so be mindful when transporting your food, everything slides and if you are not careful, could have a spill. I was very happy with my meal and it was very filling. The kimchi was a bit on the sour side which I can handle but some people might not like it and you will burp it up throughout the rest of the day. Service: self serve counter order and bus your own table Restaurant cleanliness: above average

Yelp
Healthy Korean Rice or Noodle bowls with veggies hits the spot after a day of biking and walking along the US Capitol and National mall areas! Located on 9th Street at the bottom of 801 Pennsylvania Ave bldg. we had the Signature Spicy Chicken Rice bowl and the Signature Bulgogi Noodle bowl with Udon noodles. Love the rice options especially the healthy Korean black rice! Love the Stubborn Soda Bar too - No high fructose or artificial sweetener sodas. There is Pineapple Cream, Black Cherry, Vanilla Cream, Classic Root Beer, Draft Cola and No Sugar Cola (this one does have artificial sweetener) You can also choose to build your own custom bowl - an asian style "Chipotle"

Yelp
This place gets the job done when we need a quick Korean bite. You create your own bowls or noodle bowls with the Korean vegetables and meat. Noodle Soups are available also from Udon, Ramen, and the Korean "Festival" Noodle Soups the Korean Owner is always genuine making our visits here always pleasant. The Tan Tan Ramen broth comes out very Hot in temperature and for the price of $13, it is a good meal. The Kalbi or Bulgogi for the protein selection is always a bonus. Vegan Diets are welcome as they have options. Food comes out quickly and seating can be difficult at times due to the foot traffic from the Mall Area but if you wait a little bit seats will always open up. You can come enjoy some Korean Pop Music and even Beer is sold here. Cheers.

Yelp
The Rice Bowl is a healthy, quick build your own bowl. Upon entering the shop, you pick up a white (rice) and green (noodles) "order sheet" to start adding your ingredients to perfect the bowl you want to eat. The base is around $9, but can add up enough quickly, with premium protein or vegetables toppings. There are extra sauces available on the side. We sat on the long community bench or along the side. After you finish, trays are collected and plastic bowls are disposed in a trash can at the end of the table. The bowls are delicious and will recommend to swing by for lunch.

Yelp
Solid place when you're craving some bibimbap in the city. As a Dolsot bibimbap connoisseur, the Dolsot bibimbap here is very very good. Ambiance is very casual. Service is 100/10. The owner is very, very friendly. I'll be back often!
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to get a quick bite to eat! It requires almost no human interaction (for good and bad). You fill out a piece of paper for what you want and they do it. You pay, and you're done. One of the employees really didn't want to be there and was obvious in how the took the food orders. It wasn't super flavorful but it was still good food. Plenty of seating for small groups or singles.

Yelp
Looking for something near the National Mall? Come to Rice Bar! Here are our 5 Star FAPS: Food (F): We ordered the two pre-made bi bim bap bowls- the bulgogi and the kalbi with black rice! Both were delicious, nutritious, and filling! The right amount of rice to veggie and meat ratio. Well-cooked rice as well! There are many different options as well as the option to customize your own bowl! Ambiance (A): Cute, clean, and friendly! Parking (P): We didn't drive, but we were looking for something to eat near the National Mall. We came from the National History Museum, and it was about a 9 minute walk. Service (S): Fast and friendly food service. Self-clean up and self-serve service. Overall, come check it out yourself and enjoy some masitseumnida bi bim bap!

Yelp
FOOD I ordered a custom bulgogi bowl with brown rice, seaweed salad, broccoli, and kale with teriyaki sauce. It was solid for a casual lunch, but the consistency between bowls wasn't always the best. When turning in the paper with your order on it, make sure to notify the staff of any allergies or dietary restrictions. DRINKS I had their pineapple cream soda, which was surprisingly very flavorful and creamy considering its clear appearance. Very refreshing! SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE The interior is neat and modernly decorated. It's a bright and open space, but despite this, there's often not enough seating for customers or space to wait in line. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity.
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
Was so excited to find this place. It was packed and for good reason. Loved that i was able to make my bowl with any combination I wanted. Food was fresh and so good. Not a lot of seating, but things opened up quickly. I only wish I lived closer.
google avatar

TC F.

Yelp
The kind of place that tells you white rice isn't an option because they just ran out, then, after you place your order and they start making it with the purple or black rice you didn't want, bring out a massive fresh bowl of white rice. Why ask if I can wait thirty seconds for what I want, when you can keep the line moving selling me what I don't want? So, in other words, a typical DC dining experience, where the staff make it clear they're doing you a favor feeding you today. God in heaven how I hate the DC dining scene. Great job Rice Bar, you fit right in!
google avatar

Yuri L.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots. The food is fast, healthy, and tastes authentic--plus the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend the Festival Noodle with added kalbi, it's my go-to. It's got big high-top tables and a chill, cafeteria-style setup. The owner is super friendly, and you can tell they care about the food and the customers. I'm a regular here, and while it can get busy on weekends, it's absolutely worth it. If you're looking for a great spot to eat, this place is a must-try.
google avatar

Molly L.

Yelp
I came during the busy lunch period on a weekday. It was pretty busy and there are a bunch of papers there in case you do a custom order and want to specify a complicated order. But it's odd there are also papers to fill out for more standard orders as well. I ordered a standard bulgolgi bowl. I think overall the bulgogi bowl was fine. It wasn't the best cuts of meat, since they were pretty fatty slices. I think the best part of the bowl was the egg, which was perfectly medium with only a little runny yoke. I also thought the vegetables like the kale and fermented cucumber was good, just on the saltier side. The interior reminds me of a chipotle and it is a fast casual type of place. Staff are friendly and they seem to serve a lot of people during the lunch hour rush. But the service is fast. There is also a code for the restroom that you have to ask for.
google avatar

Melisa M.

Yelp
So good! the meat was so good!!! love this place. it is super cute inside and was not that busy. super fast and friendly service!
google avatar

Justine T.

Yelp
The food was mediocre...I got the Kalbi Bibimbap, but the meat was too tough and chewy. The overall bowl lacked flavor and was mushy. Service was quick and ordering was easy (there is a counter near the start of the line with pencils and paper menus to select what you want, then you hand it to the employees behind the ingredients counter). Sadly, I didn't enjoy my meal, so I don't see myself coming back.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Extremely fast service and great food with a bonus of chilly AC for a hot summer day!
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Decided to stop by for lunch as we didn't want to eat museum food. The food was great. They make it easy to order - basically make your choices on a menu paper and give it to the staff. They put it together and then you pay. They also had steam shumai but it wasn't advertised anywhere. When I heard another customer order it, I asked and got it. We ordered two bowls - first had ramen and bulgogi as the main attractions and it was good. Wifey got the udon and kalbi and that was tasty as well!! Honestly you can't go wrong with your choices. You can have a ramen option or even a bibimbop option depending on your mood. Seating can be tough. We came during lunch rush but luckily got a seat. Wouldn't mind coming back if we're visiting DC again.
google avatar

Yelp
Originally wanted to go to Moon Rabbit but it was a long wait so we decided to try Rice Bar since it was close by lol. When you enter, there's a menu for you to fill out what you want and they'll make you bowl for you. It's kind of like subway style but make your own bibimbap bowl. I ordered the noodles with chicken and peanut sauce. I added carrots, crushed peanuts, and corn with a side of soup. I wished I added more greens but feel like there wasn't a lot of options of green veggies. Overall it was good for fast food. I like that they have a station for you to add all their extra sauces. I was surprised I got to have soup on the side. I was pretty full and didn't finish my soup. It was a clear broth but didn't have a lot of flavor to it. I think the miso soup would have been a better choice.
google avatar

Karol M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! This is make your own bibimbap place...reminds of a Chipotle, but Korean and way better. When you arrive, you'll be able to fill out a sheet with your order. You can order some pre-set options, but you can also customize your own bowl which is what I did. All the ingredients taste so fresh, with the perfect crunch. The sauces were delicious too, and you can add multiple ones to your bowl. In addition to the delicious food, they also had a soda fountain with great flavors like pineapple cream soda, cherry soda with tarragon, and vanilla cream soda. Loved it!!
google avatar

Rikin S.

Yelp
This is a fun introduction to fast casual Korean food! My friends were raving about this place especially because there are various vegetarian options and you're not as limited in selection as other places. You walk in and fill out a paper choosing either a noodle bowl or rice bowl. There are various options under both; different types of noodles and rice. It's hard to know what you want as a new comer here since there's no way to really see the toppings or base ahead of ordering. So for us it was a shot in the dark but we were pleasantly satisfied. I really enjoyed the black rice as a base.
google avatar

Tanara M.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place after leaving the Lincoln Memorial. I wish we'd found it earlier in our trip. The food was outstanding and full of flavor. It was quick getting through the line, too.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch recently. It was only the owners working there, and they were a super friendly older couple. There's also a ton of seating available (at least for lunch). I went for a build my own bibimbap, and it honestly did not turn out well. Way too salty, with all the flavors drowned out by the saltiness of the spicy chicken I added. The chicken itself didn't even have much flavor besides salt, and it was unfortunately also quite dry. The other toppings didn't add much besides some texture, and the purple rice they had was a bit overcooked and mushy. Honestly really surprised this place has such strong reviews; maybe making my own bowl was the mistake and I just made some bad choices!
google avatar

DIANA T.

Yelp
I loved the ambience, the service, and option. Thought the idea of a rice bar was genius. Didn't have to wait long even though there's a line. It's constantly moving. Got the bibimbop special and I was impressed that it tasted authentic. Flavorful, meaty, and overall delicious. I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Emi M.

Yelp
This restaurant is not big, has limited seating but the location is just great. Conveniently located near Smithsonian museums, so we were able to fit lunch here between museums. They offer different kinds of bibimbap and noodles, but you can also build your own by marking ingredients on a form. I got bulgogi bibimbap. It had some fresh veggies, kimchi, egg and a lot of rice. It was so tasty. Again the seating is limited and there is not much space between tables and chairs so it's for a quick meal. But it was perfect for tourists like us.
google avatar

Aarti B.

Yelp
Glad Rice Bar opened up in Penn Quarter, a healthy option! It's hidden on the corner and easy to miss, so be on the look-out! The menu can be a bit overwhelming with sooo many options and bases to choose from - salad, noodles, rice, soup, etc. I wasn't sure which paper menu to select, and bypassed annotating my order and ordered directly from a server. I got the Clear Noodles and loaded it up with veggies - eggplant, burdock root, carrots, seaweed salad, kale, mushroom, roasted seaweed with tofu and topped with a fried egg and scallions and teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds. As I got more than the 4 standard toppings and fried egg, I spent over $20+!. It was a bit heavy on the seaweed, next time I'm going to skip the seaweed altogether as well as the mushy carrots and should be hopefully within my 4 topping limit! The fried egg was tasty and helped to elevate the meal, it was worth paying the extra $3 surcharge. The food was very flavorful and healthy. I'll definitely be coming back again and want to try the authentic Bibimbap in a clay pot for $3 surcharge!

Yelp
Came back on a cold January night before heading out. It was quiet for an early dinner. We both decided on a hot soup item. I had the tempura udon and my partner had the spicy Korean ramen. There was a short wait for the shrimp tempura in my udon. But it came out nice and crispy. The udon noodles were nice and chewy and the soup was not heavy. The spicy Korean ramen was ok. It wasn't too spicy, it reminded us of shin ramen (which we don't mind). It also came with a bowl of rice and some toasted nori (which we also enjoyed).

Bobbi Jo H.

Yelp
My kids and I ate at Rice Bar during a trip to DC. None of us had ever had "Bibimbap", but we wanted to try it! They could not have made it easier. When you come inside, they have notepads with a list of options for how to customize your dish. You can pick rice or noodles, and which kind of noodles you'd like. You choose between miso soup and clear soup, unless you're eating it as a bowl without soup. You pick a protein, and then 4 additional toppings. You can add extras, like an egg, as well. The gentleman behind the counter was incredibly helpful and answered any questions we had. My son and I got bulgogi (ribeye) with ramen noodles. I got broccoli, mushrooms, edamame, and crispy seaweed with mine, as well as clear soup. He got miso soup and carrots with his. My daughter got bulgogi in a bowl with lettuce. We also got an order of dumplings to share. Everything was so delicious! They had soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and a hot sauce of some kind you could add to your bowls at your table. The restaurant is not very large but is bright and inviting. There was plenty of available seating. My daughter said this was her favorite meal of our trip!

Yelp
Food was great and not crazy priced . Busy but still clean and staff was nice and attentive
google avatar

Angelo B.

Yelp
Korean casual chain very close to the natural history museum. It's fairly large with seating (few regular tables and a few high tops). The food was by no means authentic, but it was quite tasty and the prices reasonable. I do think they marinated too much though as it was a little too strong. Generous serving... I was fairly full after finishing.
google avatar

Rupel J.

Yelp
Second time trying this place - it's alright. Imo poke is better. They didn't fill the bowl as much as I would've liked, but the price was better than most poke places. I didn't think they had the best sauce options. Overall though, it's great for a casual pickup for lunch and it's super quick. The servers are very efficient and super nice!
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
I decided to increase my review to 2 stars because the employees were perfectly nice.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
This was a change of pace from all of the food trucks by the museums. However, I would have liked to see an improvement in customer service such as explaining to customers that they can get noodles or bibimbap. It's kind of like Chipotle/Subway/Bibibop. If you've never been there before, then you may get confused. I got the Korean ramen which is basically just packages of ramen from your nearby grocery store. They give you rice and seaweed with it. No meat. I ordered bulgogi to eat with my rice. Seating can be tight in areas because it's so close to the next table. Unfortunately, it's a 3 for me due to the store bought ramen. I would have liked them to actually make their own ramen. Service was okay, the cashier was the only one helpful. The other people serving looked like deer in headlights.

Yelp
A casual Korean food near National Portrait Gallery D.C. I took out kimchi bibimbob and bulgogi bibimbob and they were delicious. I would like to goback and try their ramen and soup noodle dishes!

Yelp
I had dinner at Rice Bar Market Place in Washington D.C. with my wife and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We ordered the Galbi Bibimbap and the Poke Signature. As a Korean, I can say the food was decent -- the gochujang sauce had a nice flavor -- but that was about the only positive part. (1) Serious hygiene issue: We found a piece of plastic in the bibimbap (see photo). When we showed it to the staff and asked for a replacement, the employee simply snatched the bowl away without a single word. She later brought a new one and said "Sorry about that," then walked away without any explanation or genuine apology. It completely ruined the meal. The staff member involved is the same one mentioned below for her rude behavior. (2) Extremely rude service: One Asian female employee was shockingly rude. I've rarely encountered customer service like this in the U.S. -- or anywhere. She spoke in a very curt and unpleasant way, almost as if she was irritated with us just for ordering. When it took us a few extra seconds to decide, she slammed the rice cooker shut in frustration. The entire interaction felt hostile and made us very uncomfortable. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but the lack of basic hygiene and courtesy makes it hard to recommend.

Yelp
Found this place in DC by accident but so happy I stumbled upon it. It's like a chipotle for Korean food and it was well worth the long line . I love how everything was authentic right up to the metal bowls they used for serving. I loved my bimbimbap - and there are so many things I want to try for my next visit

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a friend over the weekend and it was delicious! It's basically a build-your-own-bowl moment, like Chipotle or CAVA, but with Korean food. I got a rice base, with my four free toppings (corn, spicy cucumbers, roasted seaweed, and fried onions), and bulgogi (my protein of choice). For finishes, I put on green onions, sesame seeds, gochujang, and sesame oil. Oh, and I got a friend egg, because runny eggs on rice is a match made in heaven! The bowl was sooo yummy (I also added some spicy mayo from the self-serve station, which worked really well with the bulgogi) and I was very full at the end of the meal. The bulgogi was very tender, the veggies were fresh, the egg was a little runny to mix in well, and the flavor was impeccable. The price was a teensy bit higher than other similar restaurants, but I did add the egg, and either way, the portion size was generous and I thought it was definitely worth the money. There was plenty of seating and the staff all seemed very nice. The restaurant definitely filled up as the lunch out came and went, so it seems I'm not the only new fan! I saw some people order the noodles, which also looked good, so maybe I'll try those next!

Yelp
Place is bright and open. Was decently crowded when we arrived at 5:30. Always a good sign. We ordered shrimp tempura udon. Came out in a cool wooden box within a piping hot stone pot. Soup was pretty good. Noodles were perfectly cooked. Lots of veggies too. Bibimbap was good. A bit on the bland side. Decent portion. Overall good experience. Good is 7/10. Nice place for a quick stop.

Yelp
Chicken Curry is a winner. Place was really busy at lunch. We ordered to go just in case, but ended up sitting at a long shared table. Doubt I'll be back in DC anytime soon, but if I do, this is my spot for lunch.
