Oh my god. COME TO THIS RESTAURANT. Every dish was soooo flavorful, you have no idea. The pig ear is the best I’ve ever had. The pork feet rice has a more subtle taste, but so rich and satisfying. Then there’s the salt and pepper triple, which is perfectly fried and so tasty.

Google
Very authentic Chinese food, each dish has a strong wok flavor, (锅气)not pre-prepared dishes. The boss is very good, recommended

Google
This place is like h e a v a n on Earth. ALL the vegan entrées are amaaazing !! (there r many). The service is outstanding. My favorite appetizer on their menu is the green onion pancakes. (soooo good) I’ll just give u the run down: Food - awesome Service - awesome Atmosphere - awesome Pricing - “extremely” reasonable. Do yourself a favor & go to Rice Bowl “many” times a week, increase yur health score, save the animals & the environment by ordering v e g a n many times a week.

Rice Bowl Cafe is one of those places you stumble upon and wonder why you haven’t been going there all along. The portions are big, the flavors are bold, and the prices are super fair. Favorites? The thee cup chicken, and anything over rice. The mushroom basil and spinach was also incredible. It’s simple, satisfying, and consistently good.

I visited Taiwan early this year, so I want to eat Taiwanese food again. We got Three Cup Chicken Chef’s Special Fried Rice Vegetable Soup Chef’s Special was excellent 👍 Three-cup Chicken was exactly what we expected. My wife verified it for me. I highly recommend it to those who are looking to taste Taiwanese food!

Google
This place is soooo good. Authentic flavors. 10/10 recommend and will definitely visit again! The salt and pepper pork ribs were crispy and juicy. We also loved the beef roll!

Google
Best fried rice ever!!!! The shrimp is soooo good and big. Cooked to perfection. I haven’t been here in years since moving to Round Rock. I thought maybe the food wasn’t gonna taste the same. Boy, was I wrong. It’s better now than before. Best egg drop soup ever!!! I don’t eat egg drop soup anywhere but here. The taste, the flavor, and the added veggies…yes sir. Hittin’ all the right taste buds. I won’t be going years again without. I might be back this week.

Google
my go to spot in town, excellent service and wonderful people. Get the 3 Cup Squid, three cup chicken, beef rolls, full sized entree, everything is decent on the menu, the staff is very nice and provides excellent service

Yelp
I've only ordered delivery so I can't speak on the environment and service of dining in.. however every single time I do order, it is delivered super fast and always perfect with no mistakes. The food is delicious! Been ordering here for at least 6 years now. I especially love the Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. The Pepper Steak and Walnut Shrimp are also great. The portions are really big as well. For two people we can usually get 2-3 meals out of ordering just 3 things. Keep in mind that the portion of rice that comes with the togo orders isn't alot, about 1 cup rice per dish. It's not enough for me and my fella's liking, so we do always order a couple extra. They also give crispy wonton strips and a sweet chili sauce with every order. And we also like to request a side of their spicy mustard. If you live in North Austin definitely give it a try. Especially N Lamar area, I know they deliver to at least the surrounding area. I always call and place my delivery order directly on the phone. They always know my address when i give them my phone number. A sweet old man is always they one dropping off the order.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and my partner and I were both not terribly hungry because of a big breakfast so we split an order of the chicken and mushroom in brown sauce. We also ordered a small bowl of egg drop soup and wonton soup thinking that maybe this would supplement half of a meal. Still, even with splitting the main dish we still took some home as there was a lot on the plate. That's one of the things we really like about this restaurant, you get your money's worth and then some. The chicken and mushroom entree was very good and would definitely come back to try some more menu items.

Yelp
First of all I'm new to Austin, I moved here in July, 2023. My grandson Edward recommended Rice Bowl so I knew I had to try it. The people are so friendly and service was great. The food is delicious!. We ordered several dishes, Szechuan Beef, Kong Pao Chicken, Szechuan Shrimp, Stir Fry green beans, Bok choy, Snow Peas leaves. It's was all simply delicious. I enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to the next visit.

Yelp
This restaurant is located right next-door to St. Vincent de Paul thrift shop on Braker. I decided to grab a bite here for lunch while the wife checked out the thrift store. I decided to dine in and was directed to one of a dozen or so tables. The egg rolls and soup came out in minutes. I ordered the beef rolls which came highly recommended by some of my fellow yelpers. The beef rolls are considered to be an appetizer, but they are more like a full meal unless you split them between four people. The hot and sour soup was decent, but I've had better and the eggrolls were straight out of the fryer and piping hot. You can pretty much expect to pay $20 for lunch here without the tip. There's no tip screen waiting for you if you dine in, but that may not be the case for takeout. They got the formula right here. Fast, friendly service, good food at a good price and plenty of parking. They do not serve alcoholic beverages and there is no public bathroom (unless you dine in). Keep in mind, they are closed on Mondays. Definitely a place I would visit again or get takeout.

Yelp
I haven't had good Chinese stir fry in a long time. The Chinese restaurants in my neighborhood in Rowlett/ Rockwall are all below average at best. So herein Austin this weekend and read the good reviews about the Rice Bowl Cafe. It was close by and decided to try it. I ordered Hunan Chicken. It was great! Large portion with big chunky vegetables that were stir fried just right. The sauce was excellent and not too spicy. It had that fire char taste that I like so much with good stir fry. That char taste is absent in many Chinese restaurants in Dallas for some reason. The steam rice was fluffy and soft- perfect! Egg rolls not so much. Mushy inside and not much taste. They also give you the crispy wonton noodles to crunch on while you wait. I give it 4 stars. My fortune cookie was good too!

Yelp
Highs: my Salt and Pepper Tofu came to the table just out of the fryer with a crunchy, crispy exterior. I would have liked more veg on the plate, but otherwise, I would give this dish an A+ rating. The scallion pancakes were gummy and completely saturated with oil. The snow pea leaves were both tough and oily. Neither of these dishes made a passing grade. My dining companion liked her generous portion of 3 Cup Chicken, with enough to share with her friends when she got home. Upon checkout, I mentioned the problem I had with how oily some of the dishes were. I was told to ask for light oil next time. I pass this on to you so that you might consider this choice when you order.

Yelp
A solid Chinese place for my family! Some of our staples are Malo tofu, shrimp omelette and beef noodle soup. Their Mapo tofu is the Taiwanese style where it's more mild and has more of a soy sauce flavor. The service is ok. Ambiance is nice and chill.

Yelp
I have visited this establishment usually on Sundays after church and have tried a variety of dishes on their menu. The chips and sweet and sour sauce are a free appetizer before the meal and they are light, crispy and a great starter. I have had the crispy crab puffs, combination fried rice, salt and pepper tofu, beef and broccoli and kung pow chicken. My favorite is bean curd home style tofu because it has a variety of fresh vegetables and the tofu is cooked to a nice crisp texture. The portion sizes are very large and easy to share.

Yelp
This is my brothers hands down favorite restaurant. He eats here at least once a week. It's a small , nicely decorated restaurant. Plenty of seating. We finally had a chance to try it and it's so delicious. We've been here several times since then, they have an mouth watering soup that I absolutely love. Their fried rice is delicious too. Out server was very sweet and patient with our endless questions about their menu.

J. S.

Yelp
We enjoy coming here often. our favorite dishes are Orange Chicken and Combination Fried Rice. their Spring Rolls and Beef Rolls to start are also delicious. the Beef Rolls have the perfectly fried dough with a nice complimentary sauce. Service is good and the entrees are enough to share or have leftovers for another meal.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick bite before grocery shopping at MT Supermarket. A friend recommended need this place for their three cup chicken...but wasn't feeling like chicken at the mom meant. So went for their spicy Szechuan beef noodle soup. It was very flavorful and tasty. The pieces of meat were tender. The noodles had a great texture. The sliced red onions and green onions were great. Service was super friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Rice bowl is one of my favorite restaurants in town and my wife says it's the best fried rice in austin. It's a go to on a good day and a pick me up on a bad day!

Yelp
Very quick delivery and the food is high quality and delicious. Order here all the tme.

Yelp
First and foremost the attentive service from all the staff I receive every time I eat here is top notch. My usual is the Schezuan beef noodle soup, it's the best in the city. The shrimp rolls, salt and pepper chicken and their green onion pancakes are all so delicious. They continue to be consistently good. I am here weekly if possible. Go get this soup it's two meals.

Travis C.

Yelp
I ordered a beef dish online with them and went to pick it up when I got home I opened it up and it was pork not beef , I called them And told them this and they had me send them a picture of it where you can clearly tell it's pork and not dark beef like they have in the photos on their own website They were not helpful and kept insisting it's beef when it's pork it's clearly pork I can taste it and it matches the pork photos they have online Either they didn't have beef or they just didn't care Not good at all
google avatar

Angela G.

Yelp
I tried the beef roll that's wrapped in a Chinese pancake, which I believe was an appetizer. The full size portion was absolutely huge, honestly enough food for 2 people. The pancake was crispy and savory, and the meat and fresh veggies inside made a good contrast.

Yelp
Update your hours on Yelp. I just drove 20 miles to find you're closed from 3-4. "Do you want to come back at 4?" No!

Yelp
Looks like I review Rice Bowl Cafe every 3 years! Not much has changed since my last review. Tried a whole bunch of other items and all have been good. I really would rate RBC as top tier for the Austin area. All foods are really fresh and you can tell they use good ingredients. The 3 cup chicken is truly special. This General Tso's chicken is better than all the other generals chicken. The soups are good. The chicken with garlic sauce has Szechuan peppers which will numb your mouth. Mongolian beef from here is one of my favorites. Good Fried rice and orders come with fried wonton strips, even when the food is delivered. The portions are good too! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation of a fellow yelper last night! Rice bowl cafe is one of few family-styled Chinese restaurants that is opened on Tuesday. Rice bowl cafe is located at the end of the strip, next to a mass of dumpsters. The smell and landscape was off putting but we were greeted with great energy from the hosts/waitress. Highlights: -They serve wonton strips with dipping sauce as a complimentary snack. -You can only order bottled water, which was a shocker to me being how saucy and spicy their items are. We ordered 2 salt and pepper squid entrees, 1 triple cup chicken, 1 curry tofu. We each got a bowl of rice, which surprisingly was enough. The salt and pepper squid was tasty but they only come as the "tubes" and are a bit hard to stuff into your mouth or cut up using the provided Utensils. Some of my squid pieces were still uncooked batter on the inside. The chicken was so tasty and came in the cast iron pot. It was sweet, spicy, and savory at the same time. Curry tofu was exactly what you'd imagine it to taste like. Every item was quite spicy and of course we didn't get water refills because they are sold per bottle. Our total for the the 4 entrees was $67. (Excluding gratuity) Again, the staff was very nice but I definitely have preferred spots over rice bowl cafe. I do recommend bringing your own water if you dine here :)

Vicky P.

Yelp
Great food with huge portions. We had the famous 3 cup chicken which really is enough for 2 people. Then the shrimp dish was extra good. 12 huge shrimp and veggies with walnuts. So yummy. We went hungry and left full with enough leftovers for 2-3 meals! Sweet server was very attentive. We will be back!

Yelp
My favorite Chinese restaurant in Austin. Always consistently good. The only complaint I have is that they are closed on Mondays!

Laura B.

Yelp
I have a new favorite, Rice Bowl's Hunan Chicken is just the right amount of heat and flavor. Pro-tip, order an extra white rice for leftovers! Lettuce wraps were good, as usual. Very efficient online order process, food is ready for pick up in a snap. I have ordered take out from Rice Bowl numerous times, and the service and quality is consistent. Great job Rice Bowl!

Yelp
My go to place for yummy food. I always order when I leave for work and it's done when I pick it up.

Yelp
Always excellent food with lots of vegetables and fresh noodles. Friendly service whether we're dining in or doing takeout.

Yelp
Had this place when we first moved here and it was amazing!!! Food is fresh and service is top notch!!

Yelp
Huge portions for dinner. I went with a friend and we wished we shared a dish the server was attentive and kind

Yelp
My partner and I have been grabbing take-out from this place for the past 3 years, and it's really established itself as a respectable place. They always know our order right away by our phone number, and have it ready within the few minute drive from our house. I stick to their main Gluten-free option, chicken in white sauce with vegetables, due to having celiac disease. It's a simple dish, but one that takes a lot of skill to pull off as well as they do. The delicate flavor comes through along with tender chicken and the many different types of vegetables, all cooked to perfection with each ingredient's individual flavor shining through Their prices have gone up a bit and they give less rice than they used to, but I feel that's the case for many places. Rice Bowl Cafe continues to be our go-to spot.
google avatar

Karen Q.

Yelp
Dined here in a fairly large party which worked out well because their portion sizes are massive! We got to try quite a bit of the menu and enjoyed everything. They have a mix of traditional and "Americanized" dishes. The roast beef rolls were one my favorites. Price point is good, plenty of parking in their lot, and low noise level.
google avatar

Chauncey S.

Yelp
The fried rice was good however the "chicken" products more so resembled mystery meat. More investigation should be conducted, just not by me. This isn't an opportunity for me to be slanderous however we must acknowledge the stigma behind these type of places.
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
Rice Bowl Cafe has large portions be warned. Authentic Chinese food and great flavors. I got the PF Noodle and it threw me off with the noodles because they were chewy and impossible to eat. I'd be back here but won't get the PF Noodle. The sesame chicken and combination lo mein were great. Again, big portions.

Glen W.

Yelp
Great place. Wonderful dumplings. Very nice staff. Particularly loved the moo shu pork.
google avatar

Ivan L.

Yelp
My son had the Orange chicken, It was great, large peces, fried just right! Will be returning.
google avatar

Wendy K.

Yelp
I am not a fan. The cucumber salad was so spicy that I could not eat it. It burned my mouth. We tried the beef rolls. I was not a fan. The roast beef had an aftertaste. The scallion pancakes were incredibly salty. I tried it and won't be back.
google avatar

Sandra G.

Yelp
Everything is soooo good!! I love the onion pancake and their combination fried rice. When my mom comes into town she always wants to eat here. Try it out!

Edgar C.

Yelp
absolutely the best place to get a good plate of beef and broccoli. The food always fresh, nice perfect size portions and the service from the staff is always great. Me and my family's favorite restaurant.
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
I freaking love this place. The combination lomein is the only thing my bf has ordered here. We've eaten here 6 times now, it's just the best lomein. I like to branch out. The three cup chicken is really great, it's chicken, ginger, bamboo and basil in a light brown soy based sauce. it's as simple as it is magical. I cannot recommend it enough. I've ordered it a few times, but ive also had the orange chicken a bunch, which is also pretty great. Today, was the gen tso's chicken. I wasn't feeling breading, so skipped it and it was a revelation. Please try this place. It's great.
google avatar

Quyen B.

Yelp
There are some great dishes here. My favorites are the sautéed green beans and sliced pig ears. Pig ears are seasoned just right and not too chewy. I can eat the green beans with rice and call it a meal. Very satisfying. Prices are reasonable. If you want to be adventurous and try non Americanized dishes, give this place a try. There are many options on the menu. At the corner of Lamar and Braker.

Donna C.

Yelp
Love their food and service! They offer delicious tofu dishes and sesame balls. Also, their delivery service is quick.
google avatar

Emilee M.

Yelp
Ordered chicken teriyaki to-go and asked for white meat chicken and fried rice. Portion size was good for price. Got about 2 meals from it. Fried rice was okay, didn't have much flavor but it was fine. Chicken was mixed in with an insane amount of onions. Like half chicken, half onions. I'm okay with veggies mixed into chicken teriyaki but this was like kind of a weird combo and so many onions. The sauce tasted like a brown sauce that you'd find on like beef and broccoli and not like a traditional teriyaki sauce at all. No problems with ordering to-go. Overall, might be back but will try something else. P.S. pics are from leftovers the next day. I tried to separate all the onions that were in there so you could see just how many were still left.
google avatar

Nathan F.

Yelp
This place is truly incredible and I always enjoy supporting a family business. You will most definitely have leftovers and it'll be worth it, so come hungry. The 3 cup chicken is like nothing I've ever had, simmered and cooking in a cast iron bowl it was still cooking at our table and had some incredible flavors I've never experienced. The geeen onion pancakes are a delicacy and we really enjoyed the combination fried race as well as the moo shu pork and the accompanying pancakes! Can't wait to come back and try more!
google avatar

Sa H.

Yelp
Something little bit bother me was be charged the $1 each bottle water. We didn't know about that until we saw our check. It was $2 charge for water. We don't might pay for it just don't like nobody let us known when we said we want water. When we sat down, the server asked what we want to drink, we just said water. She doesn't tell us they only provide the bottle water and it needs $1 each. When we see the bottle water, we thought they just provide this instead glass of tap water. If we knew about water need $1, I would definitely don't want it. Anyway, environment was nice and clean, service was friendly. Our hot&sour soup and egg drop soup was really good. But when we got my combination lo mein, I tried it and it was too salty for me. We also ordered Three cup chicken, I think it just ok, not great. But my husband like it so might be just my taste different.

Natasha W.

Yelp
My on the go, to go, pick up and go spot. The food is always fresh. There's a bit of soul to the taste here. My order is taken properly and packaged with care. For the times I've had delivery my meal has showed up promptly & hot!
google avatar

Yelp
Rice Bowl Cafe has been a Chinese staple of mine for quite some time but I hadn't been there for a while since other more convenient options have since popped up. However, I went there again to pick up food on my way to visit my family and it didn't disappoint at all. Some of my favorite dishes here include: Green Onion Pancakes - classic appetizer, great for sharing. Cucumber Salad - also great for sharing, pretty easy dish to make but still worth it. Stir Fry Green Bean - another classic veggie dish done well. Salt and Pepper (Insert item here) - their salt and pepper fried options are all great, and come with onions and peppers. My favorite is probably the salt and pepper fish fillet. This is the dish that differentiates Rice Bowl from other Chinese restaurants. The owner is really nice and she always greets me warmly in Mandarin when I pick up food - my Mandarin is rusty but I can understand it still (she speaks English, however).
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
We have ordered here a few times via DoorDash take out and are never ever disappointed. The food is always as ordered, warm, and delicious! My favorites out of all we have ordered so far are: Chicken with Mushroom: We love this dish most places that serve it, but this place is my favorite. Huge mushrooms and pieces of chicken are in this dish and it is served with white rice. Yum. Spring Rolls: We love spring rolls and usually get the shrimp ones when ordering from other places. This restaurant serves theirs with shrimp and roast beef. It sounded a bit odd at first and then I ate one and was in heaven! Egg Drop soup: I love this soup when it has veggies in it. I was not disappointed when I ordered this. Lovely broth with vegetables in it made for a real good soup. Roast Beef Rolls: Again, sounded a bit odd but after eating one, I was pleasantly surprised. These are huge so make sure you are hungry when ordering this. The prices are worth what you pay for in quality and quantity. We always have left overs which is as good as the day before. There are many places that serve food like this all over Austin, but this place will always be our "Go To" . We recommend this to all!!!

Yelp
This place rocks !!! Me and my Lion and Dragon Dance Team family have been coming here since 2013 when I was in high school! The owner and all of the staff are absolutely wonderful ! I've been to many Asian restaurants all over and I've yet to find ANY that can make my favorite Sesame chicken and salt and pepper chicken like they can ! I usually stop by 1-2 times a week for pickup or dine in with my friends and they NEVER disappoint ! Come and give them a try I promise you'll be hooked !! (Sesame chicken is a must try here ) !
google avatar

Chenkai L.

Yelp
Love love love this place! This restaurant was recommended by multiple friends so we decided to try it out. Every dish we have gotten here has had large portion, super delicious, and very reasonably priced. The server is also really nice, feels like such a intimate mom and pop restaurant that I feel happy about supporting. The dishes that we really like here is the salt and pepper fish (super succulent!), three cup chicken, and beef rolls. We also had the house made tofu soup that was made to order and also super good. Will definitely be a regular here!
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Chargers for water... what place doesn't have free water? Also, we had to keep asking for more rice because there were 6 of us and charged us for each tiny rice bowls. Still get 3 stars because food was good. So to go orders should be fine. But service subpar. Disappointed in this place, as we used to dine here often whenever my folks were visiting me while I was in college. Not sure if we will be coming back again.
google avatar

Cameron N.

Yelp
We stopped by the other day on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was kind and quick to get food out to us which was very affordable and tasty. The downsides was only having water bottles and not clearly marked menus for their lunch special.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Great Lunch place. Activity is up a lot and there are new staff making thinks go. The Beef noodle soup is spot on. For authentic - Pig Ear appetizer is the real deal and tastes.
