Rice Box

We had lunch on a Sunday after church at Rice Box recently. We were greeted as we walked in and we were seated quickly. Our server was nice and the food was good. We ordered three entrees: Thai Basil Chicken, Spicy Orange Peel Chicken and a Hawaii Roll. Everything tasted great and the portions were very large. We were satisfied with everything and would definitely visit again since the menu is large with plenty of choices.

4.5 stars. A LARGE variety of food, if you can't find something that you like here, then you probably shouldn't be going to Asian restaurants, because they have plenty to choose from here and it's all delicious. I'm not a sushi fan, but my wife and kids are and they love the sushi here as well.

Absolutely disgusting!! 🤮 And the lady that took my order made the experience much worse with her rudeness and lack of customer service! DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE!! If I could give a 0 I would! I ordered the shrimp fried rice.. the shrimp tasted boiled and undone and the rice tasted boiled and had absolutely NO flavor (not even with soy sauce!!) My rice was clearly not fried.. it lacked everything and this place just needs to close for business!! Especially if they keep the rude lady at the counter!! I HAD TO RECOOK MY FOOD AT HOME! FRIED MY RICE AND SHRIMP AND ADDED SEASONING!! 🤦🏽‍♀️

We eat here several times a month. The food is always great. Normally the takeout service is on time and great. Today we called in and order and were told 30 minutes because they were busy. I arrived 45 minutes after completing the call. When I asked how long it would be the lady in charge said another 20 minutes. When I asked why, she actually raised her voice, yelling at me, saying they’re doing the best they can. I told her to cancel the order and I will never be back. Another guy in front of me also canceled his order and got a refund because he had been waiting for over an hour. Don’t tell people it’s a 30 minute wait when it’s over an hour. Be honest. Let us choose to wait or go somewhere else. I rarely leave 1-star reviews, but you earned it tonight with your lack of service. You just lost a customer.

This place is really nice. The sushi couldn’t get any better! Delicious. The place is nice and clean. Managed very well. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. The service however is a different story. Not to friendly. Who cares sushi is bomb. Will definitely be back. They will overcharge you. So check your receipt. They charged me $7 for a 12 oz beer. Receipt said 22 is beer. Be aware

At recommendations from friends, we decided to dine here, expecting great tasting food. We were sorely disappointed with this experience. The lady that took our order never smiled and was a bit unfriendly. We ordered the Hibachi chicken and steak (Me) and my wife ordered the Pineapple Thai Chicken. The food arrived and although it was pleasing to the eye to look at, the taste was in a different direction. My chicken and steak was cold and my wife’s dish wasn’t at all what we expected. Even my fortune cookie was empty! 🙄 The price we paid was not worth what we experienced. People may have other experience more positive, but we will not be eating there again. In our opinion, if you want great service and fabulous Chinese food in Denver, go to Rice Bowl.

We've been getting takeout from this restaurant for a long time. Even though we live 30 minutes away, we happily make the hour-long round trip because their food is authentic and delicious. Plus, they always give us free warm donuts, which is such a nice touch!!

Went in on our lunch break, around 3pm. We were in out and back to work by 4! We were the only people in there. Server didn't hover around our table. Food was prompt and delicious. Drink was refilled when it needed. Everything was perfect including the prices. Will definitely be going back.

I wasn't going to bash this place because they have good food, but this time I found a long black hair that was actually cooked into a grain of rice. I don't have black hair, i have blonde hair. I wasn't concerned about the money, but I wanted to call the store and tell them about it so no one else would have to pull someone elses hair out of their mouth. I called the store and the lady who answered the phone was incredibly rude and nasty and wouldn't even let me get a sentence out without yelling at me, I hadn't even told her what happened and she just started yelling at me for no reason. So, if you decide to eat here or order, beware and look out for nasty hair and rude people.

Service was horrible. Was trying to celebrate my son's birthday. The lady at the counter was consistently rude to us and rushing our order. I asked for Coke but was given Pepsi. Didn't even say they only had Pepsi. Got my wife's drink after getting a refill and wouldn't let us see the check before paying. I would not advise anyone going here. There are better take out places and dine in near by.

I was really hungry for Chinese food. We found this rice box restaurant. The place is empty! The food was nasty! The beef pepper and fried rice was so bad! Fried rice has nothing added to it. It's so bad! Waste of money! Do not ever come here!! The lady who took our order was so rude. She has no manners! Appeared irritated that we came to order!! Over all, the service and food was extremely bad

Amazing quality, fresh food, good service and great atmosphere. We enjoy our meals there every time! Best sushi place in Lake Norman.

Service was terrible and ordered a jasmine tea and it was fine till I got a refill and was green tea. My food was so hard it almost broke my teeth. Would not recommend.

I had high hopes for Rice Box. But it did not meet my expectations. I am still searching for a very good Asian restaurant in Denver. The food was not very good. I ordered Thai Basil Chicken from the Signature Menu. It was 75% cabbage and no basil. The taste was just okay. I like cabbage but not this much! My wife had the Roasted Cashew Nut Chicken. She liked it but said she would order something different next time. The interiors were good and the service was acceptable. It was odd that we were asked three times for drink orders - twice from the same person. She was not paying attention. It was not busy. We were one of two parties in the restaurant for dinner.

The food was bland. I had hibachi shrimp with vegetables, this was served on a pile of white rice with a strange flavor, the shrimp was cooked on the hibachi and was very dry, the vegetables had almost no flavor except the broccoli which was almost raw. My wife had vegetable fries rice which was almost without any flavor. The person who greeted and served us was almost rude.

Food was delicious! I really enjoyed the Vegetable fried rice. My husband had a bento box that he loved.

Food is fresh and delicious! So refreshing to get a great meal. We try to eat here at least once a week.

So far Rice Box has been the best restaurant we have been able to find locally within 25 mins of us. The food was so good and tasted fresh. The flavor was near perfect. Baby and toddler friendly. We had our newborn, they have car seat sling seats, and our 2 year old with ASD. It was a nice calm and clean environment so our daughter was nice and relaxed. She tried to use her chopsticks and had lots of fun. She even tried a piece of sushi.

Absolutely love and recommend sushi if you're in the lowesville/Denver area. They're so sweet! I came a little after closing not knowing the closing time. They made me my order, gave me a free sweet tea. So sweet!

My family and I have been going to the rice box for probably about 8 years now. We have been to sushi restaurants all over the area and any state we go to and the rice box has been one of my all time favorites (so much so we drive 40 minutes one way just to go there) We have never had bad service, everyone is also so kind and quick. I have 3 kids and they go out of their way to make the experience enjoyable for them also. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is even better. I recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi and I will continue to go for years to come. It made me sad when they closed down the dining area but I'm so glad it's opened again!!

Came in tonight and no one is here. Was kind of skeptical but as soon as we came in, we were greeted and immediately given our menus. We sat down took a quick look and was asked for our drinks. Was able to get drinks and appetizer orders in and received within 5 minutes. Both our edamame and potstickers were fresh and seasoned so perfectly. We placed our entree orders and it came out within 10 minutes. Portions were perfect size, and the food tasted amazing! Husband got the orange chicken with white rice and lo mein, and I got the hibachi chicken with white rice. The server was so attentive that we didn't feel the need to go eye searching. Yes, we understand we are the only ones in so it should be expected, but you would be surprised at how some places cannot provide great customer service even with one customer. Overall, great experience, plan to visit again!

I have been eating here for several years and have looked the other way regarding their zero personality staff because I like the sushi rolls. Today was pretty much the last straw at this place. I came in with my wife and sat at the table. We were there for nearly ten minutes, and no one had even brought us a menu. The waitress/owner finally showed up and realized we had no menu and brought them over for us without taking a drink order. We then sat there for another twenty minutes, completely being ignored by the staff. There were only four people in the entire restaurant besides us. Then, to make it worse, four people walked in, and the owners son ran over to their table with menus and took their drink order. We then sat for another five minutes and finally got up and left. Unbelievable...

The food was really great-Mongolian beef, 3 sushi rolls and miso soup. We had the lunch specials. Prices were fair. There's a full bar too - we had tea as it was lunch. Our waiter was quick, polite and thorough. The place was clean!

I live off doing doordash. Came in today and sat down to wait for an order to be ready. The lady brought me a sweat tea while I waited and gave me the tv remote to watch whatever I wanted. Very nice people.

I went to Rice Box yesterday. A large party of around 12 or so patrons was leaving when I walked in. No greeting, just seated. I ordered the Bento box. Substituted egg drop soup for the Miso soup ($2.00 xtra). The soup was the best part of the meal. It needed salt and pepper. I had to get up to ask for salt and pepper. The pepper shaker was DIRTY. I seriously almost walked out because it looked so nasty. I like crispy noodles with egg drop soup. There again, I had to get up and walk toward the register to make this request. The food in the Bento was ok. Chicken was very tender, almost slimy. Egg roll was not hot, nor was it crispy. They had it 1/2 in a cup of sweet/sour sauce. Crunchy shrimp roll had lettuce in it (is that normal?). Just a pea size amount of wasabi. Not enough for even 2 bites of sushi. Again, I had to get up and make that request. I was the ONLY patron in this establishment. The younger lady was not friendly. Neither was the 2 boys working there. There was a young woman, an older lady, a man and 2 high school boys working. They were all sitting eating their food. There was also a man who worked there eating at the other side of the restaurant. 5 people working. I'm the only one there. Never one time asked how my food was or if I needed anything. My check was $26.74 (beer was $7 can). I did not leave a tip. Such a disappointment.

Horrible!!! Not only was the food absolutely disgusting, it was also flavorless. Not only the sushi but how do you screw up beef and broccoli? See photos posted! Also when someone calls and asks what time you close and you say 930 and we specifically ask if we're there around 8:45-9 o'clock can we get seated and you say yes and then we show up and you have no indoor dining and just freaking stupid ass take out ......that is ridiculous, learn to speak the freaking language and give accurate information! Can't believe anyone eats here, nothing we ordered was good, in fact this was the worst Chinese/ sushi we have ever had!

We ordered takeout. The food was delicious. The servings were more than ample. The woman who waited on the cash register was somewhat short with us. We have ordered here before and will return.

The food was absolutely disgusting. It had no seasoning. The texture was mushy noodles on top of more grilled vegetables than it should have. There were four pieces of grilled chicken which were also tasteless and on top of everything else wrong with the food the server was obnoxious , rude and condescending. Do your self a big favor and stay away from this slop chute they call a restaurant. The prices are also out of line. For the prices they charge the food should be better but it's not. Stay away and find another restaurant.

We have ordered takeout from here quite a few times since moving to Denver, really out of desperation to have some Asian food! They are an Asian fusion restaurant, but not sure what they primarily would say their specialty is? We have tried the Thai and the Japanese. It is definitely not either of those! Maybe it is the Chinese? But we do not really eat Chinese food. The food that we have got was not close to be in comparative to other Asian fusion restaurant serving similar things. Do you not get the pad Thai! I have attempted it a few times, and I am not sure what I was given, but that wasn't it! We are so limited on options here, I wish that this was a good option! Two stars for the free donuts they often give!

Scam! Tried to order for DoorDash pick up and was told that my order was supposed to be ready at 7:50 got there at 7:50 and was told my order was still cooking. Waited an additional 15 minutes for my order, finally left and they marked my order as ready. When I went back at 8:10 they said my order was still cooking. They should do door dash if they are not prepared for it. They definitely tried to take my money. Beware

Updated review. We went last night and had another night of lackluster food. Service was kind and fast. The food is just inconsistent each night we seem to visit.

There were 5 of us for dinner tonight. Everything that we ordered came out separately. Two of us didn't get our food until the other three were finished with their meals. The sushi rolls were very loose...you could tell they were prepared quickly. The food tasted good otherwise the overall rating would be a one. We don't eat out a lot and service is super important to me. The server never apologized for the delays and seemed to avoid us.

Rice Box is really good and they are stepping up their game!! I ordered the crab Rangoon and let me tell you they are giving Rice Bowl a run for it! Everything we ordered was hot and delicious! Roast pork egg foo young (not on menu) write it in! Scallion Chicken- so good! Chicken egg rolls Wow!

Saw an ad online or TV for this restaurant. Thought we'd found a great new place to try out. We should have known when we went on a Friday night date-night, and there were plenty of seats available. The food was bland. Sweet & sour chicken was the best of what we ordered. Neither of us finished our meal. Broccoli chicken had no flavor, california roll was acceptable, rice was under cooked (crunchy), .. We will not go back!

This was the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had. Ordered $60+ of stuff for delivery and just took 85% of it and immediately dumped it in the garbage it was that bad. Everything was dry, and absolutely flavorless, colorless, orderless... just gunk. Seriously, they can't even make passable fried rice? I couldn't think of anything I could do to fix that gunk so just dumped $60+ into the trash. You'd be FAR better off just buying some frozen Chinese food and heating it up yourself. It's going to be months before I even consider eating any Chinese food anywhere ever again. That's how bad it really was. You have been warned. P.S. The one star is for quantity. They do give you a lot of garbage-gunk to fill your trash can with.

Ok, something has went seriously wrong at the restaurant. It used to be average but the last three takeouts have been super awful. Wrong orders totally, leaving things out, hot sushi, and tofu instead of chicken????? Chicken tasted frozen and slimy. This was the last trip for a while from me.

I go for lunch a decent amount and their lunch specials are terrific. Good food, good portions and good price. Try the lunch.

Love this place... amazing food and great service! Everything is made fresh and taste fantastic, white meat chicken and perfectly cooked rice... sushi is made to order and they have a great drink selection!

If you haven't tried Ricebox yet, it's worth trying for the '007' sushi roll alone! However there are other many more dishes me and my family love and order regularly, but nothing quite like the '007'. We've never had a bad experience in all of the times we've visited. The freshness and quality in the sushi will have you coming back in no time! Atmosphere is nice and it's very clean!

Ive been going to Rice box since 2012. I love their fresh Sashimi and excellent service. I miss in restaurant dining immensely! God bless them. I wish I could eat more!

Over priced (think $10 for a lousy small plate of rice) and rude unaccommodating service. I'm no sushi chef, but I've rolled better sushi on camping trips. The place is on its way out. Enough said.

Traveling through Charlotte, and friends and family recommended this place. It did not disappoint. I had the chirashi (15 piexes of chef selected sashimi), the dragon roll (eel, avocado, masago), and the tempura avocado. I'll be making future visits to this place whenever I find myself in the area, for certain!

Had an amazing dinner there. Ordered bento box and a 007 roll. 007 roll was to die for! Bento box was so much food I got to take home a snack. Great service! Super attentive and kind. Quick, too! Would definitely visit again!

Best lunch deal in Denver! Huge portions. Extensive lunch menu options. Everything we've tried is delicious. We are sesame chicken people, and we've had it in far too many places, and this place is the bomb. Lots of sauce. Great breading. It is actual chicken. Need we say more. The red Thai curry with shrimp is the bees knees. Take it for what it is...Thai curry at a Chinese/Japanese restaurant...but it's delicious. Also, if you're a hot and sour soup person, do. Not. Miss. This. So good. The "small," which is huge, is only $1.99. The larger size, which is actually huge, is like $4.00. Order this. You won't regret it.

First time here the interior is very nice with flat screen TVs a bar. I ordered the lunch special 5.99 ty red curry chicken. It came with white rice and a sweet tea. This is the first lunch special that I have ever seen that does not come with free egg roll. I asked for spicy but the cook did not make it spicy I asked for Thai red curry chicken and what I got was a water broth with a small spec of curry there was no flavor what so ever in the sauce this has to be the worst of the worst curry chicken I've ever had. The chicken is a weird texture that I cannot describe I don't even know if its even chicken I have no idea. The best thing about this dish is the zucchini. I will come back again and try their sushi you get two rolls with a soup and salad for 7.99.

Amazing restaurant in Denver! Nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff with delicious food! We go to the bar order a few drinks and order the Sunshine roll (so good) and then get food to go. I love the hibachi chicken, Mongolian beef, & garlic shrimp .... everything from their egg rolls to their free donuts are delicious. This place is a must try!

Update..... heard they changed their attitude.... so after 3 years we tried them again.... greeted well...served fast...much busier and thanked us for coming... a 180 degrees turn... Food was still exceptional.... so we will add them back into our weekly rotation (we eat out 4 nights a week)

This used to be my favorite Asian food spot. The last 2 times I ate there I woke up vomiting. I would stear clear of this place.

Rice Box is a regularly visited place for me. The food is fresh and nicely prepared. The sushi is on par to other places in the area. Lunch is a great deal. I usually get the hibachi chicken with brown rice...awesome! Generous portion, but not over the top. Wait staff could be a bit friendlier at times.

Our first time dining here was great. We really enjoyed to Singapore noodles, the egg drop soup and whatever kind of roll my wife had was delicious. The service was excellent and no wait for a table at 6 PM on Thursday. We will definitely return.

ALLERGY SUFFERERS BEWARE! I used to like the food here, but the service was not very good. Due to a lack of decent food on the west side of the lake, I came here more than once and felt it was the best I could do to find healthy options. Up to this point, they had managed to fill my order correctly, which is important since I cannot eat anything containing mushrooms. On my last visit, there were only two other tables and I went through my order, with the same server I had at least four times before, explaining the need to prevent cross-contamination due to my allergy. She brought my order to the kitchen and delivered it to the table without checking for accuracy. There was a funny smell to my food when she put it in front of me. I wondered why it smelled "different". I ate one of the shrimp and it tasted okay, so I thought the dish was okay since the rest was pineapple and vegetables. However, I felt like my mouth was swelling so I started to stir and look at the contents. Hidden underneath, all along the bottom, were big whole mushrooms. I went to the counter and told the waitress/cashier that my request was ignored and now I was having an allergic reaction. No apology. Just a look of annoyance. I paid for my tea left quickly to get to the pharmacy. I try to be considerate by not going to restaurants when they are too busy to deal with special requests. The least I expect is for the restaurant to take it seriously and either double check the order or tell me if they cannot manage my request. It is unbelievable that this business would risk poisoning a customer and show absolutely no remorse.

This is a favorite family run restaurant which my wife and I love. Since COVID they've gone to "pick up only" service but still serve the same great food. As soon as they are able to reopen we'll be back!

No. Just no. I just ordered $50 of food to be thrown straight into the garbage. Completely tasteless, not even sure the meat was identifiable and I ordered entrées with both chicken and beef. The only redeeming quality is that I'm not vomiting from how disgusting the food was.

If you're not eating here and live in Denver you're missing out. One of the cleanest restaurants in town and my go to 2x a week at least. Shrimp fried rice is delicious but the Thai Curry is by far one of the best things on the menu!
