I really like this place. Their food is delicious. I have eaten several chicken and beef dishes, and often get a variety of their sushi. I love that they deliver too! The people who have taken my order and dropped off my food are also very friendly.

This place is AMAZING. They are super nice, food comes out fast and hot and everything was delicious! Pictured below is the general tsos shrimp, chicken and broccoli, beef and chicken sticks, chicken and eggplant with garlic sauce, shrimp Ho fun, fantail shrimp and walnut chicken. I HIGHLY recommend everything. 10/10

I stopped coming here because the quality of the food and service declined drastically after Covid. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and I found a hair in my chicken. I called to get a refund and they told me there was nothing I could do about it, they weren’t apologetic at all and seem annoyed by my request. It’s not like I asked for them to refund my whole order I just asked for a refund of the item that was contaminated. I would recommend just going with somebody else or taking the drive somewhere else. If could give 0 starts I would.

So here’s the deal: the folks at Rice Family are super nice. Polite, friendly, quick-service. I ordered and blinked twice, and boom — food was in my hands. No complaints there. Honestly, I wish every takeout spot moved that fast. Now, the food itself… oof. I got General Tso’s chicken with vegetable fried rice, and let me just say: it felt like the chicken was on a secret mission to become a soup. I opened the container and was greeted by a tidal wave of oily, soggy chicken pieces swimming around like they had floaties on. The “fried” part of fried rice got drowned in the process, so the rice was basically sitting there saying “help, I can’t swim.” Flavor-wise? Let’s just say I wouldn’t eat this for free — and you know I’m usually down bad for free food. I respect the effort and the kindness of the staff, but I personally won’t be back. Rice Family is fast, polite, and generous… but food-wise, this was less “General Tso” and more “Private First Class Soup.”

Came here after the Philly Open, couldn't have been happier with the experience. Prices are closer to pre-covid times and the food was great! Bento box was a steal for 10$, definitely worth a stop if you're passing through, don't let the outside of the building turn you away!

Tried to like the food here since they are close to work. However, I ordered garlic chicken, asked for extra spicy no spice. Not even mild spice. Now today I ordered Szechuan chicken. NOT even a tinge of spice. It tastes like chicken and broccoli. So either, they just don’t pay attention to your order, or they just make whatever they want. Will not order from them again. 2 strikes and your out!

Their sushi and sashimi are super fresh and easily melts in your mouth. This restaurant has a wide range of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Amazing service and the owners take really good care of every single order.

As a truck driver I’ve had a lot of Chinese from all over n this place I give a 2. Just honestly kinda tasteless

This is definitely a no frills place with minimal decor and piles of boxes in the corner; seems they sell trinkets as well. The service was attentive and friendly. I started with the wonton soup and cold sesame noodles, pretty basic choices, but I enjoyed it! Then I tried the spicy tuna pizza which was overall bland, but the scallion pancake the tuna was on was really good, and I ordered some dumpling sauce to dip it all in to give it more flavor which definitely helped. Definitely worth a try.

It's just ok... they kinda skimped on the broccoli for general Taos chicken... but nothing to brag about

I've been ordering from Rice Family ever since I moved to south allentown in 2020. Best restaurant hands down. Food always comes hot, they never take more than an hour, and the foods amazing. They give you massive portions, I always get a small thing of pork spared ribs and they last me two days. Shout out to their delivery drivers also, they are so kind and amazing.

DO NOT EAT HERE! I always give good reviews to small business owners and small restaurants. When i have bad experience at a small restaurant i just choose not to leave a review. But this place was horrible! The food tasted really bad. I tried general tso's chicken which looked or tasted ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like general tso's chicken. The shrimp lo mein was overcooked and tasted horrible. Their customer service was 50-50. Restaurant was very poorly lit, dark and shabby. Looked quite dirty because there was all sorts of junk that they ought to store in the back right at the front of the restaurant where people are supposed to sit. There were kids lying on the booths (where customers are supposed to sit) and playing on their iPad. The food was delivered to our car because we didn't want to sit in the dark and dirty interior. But the food was delivered without silverware or napkins. When I went back inside to ask, I was given 3 very small napkins for the 3 of us.

Ordered delivery off of door dash. Took way longer then they said, terrible quality, not flavor and no utensils! Definitely steer clear of this place. I tried one bite of the general tso and pitched the whole order. $60 down the drain. Stay away

This restaurant is amazing. The Mongolian Beef and Beef Lomein were the bestvwe ever had. We also had the salmon avocado roll. The freshest most delicious sushi I had in a long time . Will definitely will be back.

Great place. Great food. I ordered take out and it was super fast and fresh. Their fried rice was on point definitely going back just for that. Would highly recommend this Chines/Japanese restaurant

Szechuan Lamb, fried rice and chicken- on- a-stick all very good. Shrimp rolls are good. Pan fried noodles too oily.

I ordered a Jack roll and Shredded garlic pork, not only did I tell her verbally, but showed her on the menu and pointed at it so she could see it. But she still gave me the wrong thing. That being said she gave me garlic shrimp with broccoli instead with the jack roll, I would've returned it but I didn't check what she gave me because I was in a rush. The garlic shrimp i've had it like a million times it's the same each time 6/10, The Jack roll 7.8/10 pretty good. The place looked decent in the inside but the outside looked old. Would probably get a 4 star if she gave me the right thing and it tasted good.

It's under new management & IT IS AWFUL! They used to be excellent under the past owners. The quality downgraded so much! Delivery is almost an hour. They suck their teeth about almost anything. STRING in the food. Don't waste your money, time or appetite.

Update: We have ordered from here allot over the last 10 years and always had a great meal. This last time was the worst meal of my life. Everything we ordered tasted like it had been re used or left out. Fried rice tasted dried and burnt. We ordered chicken lo mein and the smell coming from it reminded me of rotten meat. Everyone in my family had Gi symptoms by the end of the night. Such a shame I am told they are under new management. Proceed at your own risk. We used to love this place but the quality and taste of the food has gone so far down hill. If given the choice of starvation or eating another meal from them like the last one we had : I truly don't know what I would choose.

This is SOLID Chinese/Japanese food! It's always consistently good. Very polite people also.

I enjoy very much the food here. Because I occasionally friends in the area, recently, I had been back, and I still enjoy it. My tastes are simple: rolls: tuna, salmon, avocado, California, yellow tail, (regular and/or spicy versions). I especially like the proportion. I ask for less rice. The amount of fish is not stingy. The prices are reasonable. (I don't do the complicated rolls only because of the sauces, for health reasons. So I can't speak to those.) Sorry, no pics cause I always forget, too busy eating.

They have fantastic egg rolls but the rest was lacking! Fluffy meat!!!! Slimmy meat!!! Definitely not beef or chicken. If you must order from here, stick with pork items...that's your safest option. And always double-check your order!! Twice we placed take-out orders and both times had to return to the restaurant to pick up left items. Sorry but not a fan !

Stopped here because of the 4+ star rating on Yelp. The customer service was excellent! The food was average. I ordered the chicken and broccoli that comes with white rice. The rice tasted like day old rice (at least). I grew up on rice almost daily so I know rice. The chicken had a slimy texture...imagine a baby oil or Vaseline texture...Yuck! Don't order the chicken!! I'm sure it's not chicken!! The broccoli was crunchy and brown sauce had good flavor. We also ordered the crab rangoon as an appetizer...it was meh! Anyway, my husband ordered the sushi (spicy roll sampler?). He said it was just "ok" ...will not be visiting this place again but the staff were sweet and friendly and we didn't have any stomach ailments afterwards so that should count for something!!

In a follow up, I came here to order sushi entrees to go and can say that it all looked great. I got the spicy combo which comes with soup and salad. I would definitely recckmend. It was a lot of money for ok Chinese. They do something to PUFF the chicken, which gives it a weird texture. I was not a fan that they did not offer a charge to substitute the rice out in their dinners to a fried option, even for a cost. Which was frustrating especially when it is all packaged separately. The crab Rangoon was fair.

The family was on vacation , leaving me home to work on a painting project that I promised to complete. Having worked extra hard, I decided to treat myself to a shave, shower and some sushi. I headed straight for Rice Fam... a very wise decision (Confucius would have been proud)... I ordered the Deluxe sushi entree and also the "Lamb Two Ways". The staff was very attentive and pleasant. Chinese noodles and duck sauce hit the table almost immediately upon my seating. Drink order also came quickly. The sushi platter was fresh and elegantly presented. Wasabi was KILLER hot (just the way I like it) and the tuna roll was awesome! The Lamb Two Ways was very good, although it could have been just a bit spicier. I don't hold it against them though. I asked for medium heat, which is very subjective. I'm sure they erred on the side of caution so as to not rip my face off with spice. When you are looking for high quality Chinese and Japanese cuisine, look no further than Rice Fam!

We like this place - as it's the best Chinese takeout we have found in the area. The steamed dumplings are great. I'd stick with the Chinese as the Thai and sushi are not to the same standard.

Quick service and on time as promised. Honey chicken is delicious. Sweet and sour chicken is good too. Will be back to try other things.

I absolutely love this place, the amazing roll is my go to, it's always fresh and delicious and the passion fruit sauce takes it over the top. Everything is delicious though the lunch bento boxes are fantastic, and super reasonable price wise. 10/10 every time I have been here

By far the best Chinese/Japanese restaurant we have sampled in the area. Wonton and Hot and Sour soups were delicious. Beef on a stick appetizer had pineapple chunks on the skewer and were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I tried the white tuna sashimi to sample the sushi bar! Very fresh, with an artful presentation! Wife had Mongolian lamb and I had Hot Lovers Triple Treat. Both dishes were plentiful and well seasoned. The brown rice was perfect! Not too hard, not too squishy! The prices are very reasonable and the service was outstanding! Bring your own bottle and it's a perfect evening! 10/10 ordered the Happy Family and Szechuan Lamb with Shrimp Fried Rice and two egg rolls to go! Got home and was quite happy with everything! Great portions, great seasoning, awesome flavors in all dishes! Rapidly becoming my go to Chinese restaurant! Did I mention how nice the owners are! Online ordering was a breeze too! 6-18-18 Stopped in for lunch for the sashimi deluxe! Excellent choice. I even remembered to take a pic before I ate! The tuna, salmon, yellowtail, white tuna and red snapper were all very fresh and very flavorful!! They also make an outstanding seaweed salad! Great food, and great people!!

Top 5 lunch place in the valley. Lunch specials before 3 are so extremely reasonable I can't do much better at home. The food is always expertly prepared and the Sushi is wonderfully fresh and masterfully crafted. Without a doubt this is my go to Asian eatery in the Valley when I need great food while stretching my dollar.

I have to admit this is the very best Asia restaurant in the Allentown area. I have never gotten a delivery order that did not meet or surpass my expectations. I order extra hot curry and it burns all the way down. That is the way I want my curry. All of the appetizers are fresh and hot. I have never receive my order so quickly. I must admit I place my order in off hours. Please, do yourself a favor and order from Rice Family. And no, I did not get anything free from this restaurant. They are just that good.

Their food is outstanding. My family and I have loved everything we've had from them. They were a family favorite before the pandemic, but I absolutely love the precautions they've taken. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and I find the measures they've taken to protect themselves and their customers extremely reassuring. That would be enough to make them my favorite restaurant even if their food wasn't as good as it is.

This place has very high reviews so I was excited to try it. Ultimately I left disappointed, but I think I ordered the wrong dishes. The house special wonton soup was decent, broth was a little but the veggies were good especially the snap peas. I didn't like the pan fried dumplings. If I go back I will try some other dishes, probably a stir fry.

Best Chinese food in this area hands down ! Fast delivery I've haven't had a dish that has disappointed me .

Do not judge a book by it's cover! This place make look neglected on the outside because of poor landscaping and grassy parking lot, but clean inside and great food. Very friendly staff also. My wife and I went for lunch, she had a delicious bento box and I had chicken with broccoli. Free refills on the very good iced teas. Give it a try and spread the word

Food is always so good!! I love their crab rangoons and get the maki lunch often. Delivery times can be a little unpredictable - sometimes it's longer than expected. Most times it's before or right at anticipated delivery time

our office ordered 98 lunch specials for our staff this week. Food was delivered early, piping hot and was delicious. Staff was nice. We couldn't be happier. Everyone loved the food - you will have new customers now!

Best Asian food in Lehigh Valley! Delicate pork fried rice, great Sweet sour chicken and tender wanton soup. Delicious!

This is my go to for fast and pleasant service. I always have it delivered to my house, and the people that deliver it are always so nice. The lady on the phone is also always so nice. The food is delicious. It's always hot and fresh. I highly recommend this Rice Family.

I feel like I'm in on a secret because I've been there twice and both times the place was deserted. Best sushi in the area, easily. Very friendly staff. The Chinese dishes we've had have been good too but for me the sushi is the star of the menu.

The best Asian fusion around here. Also, the staff is incredible and treats you like family. Fun, clean atmosphere for all! Especially families with kids.

Got both steamed and pan seared dumplings. They were delicious and my order was ready and waiting when I got there.

Just ordered takeout sushi from Rice Family for the first time tonight and we were very pleased! Ordering by phone was straightforward and I've read that they also have online ordering available through their website. My Romantic Roll with spicy, crunchy tuna inside and tuna outside was shaped into the cutest heart. Truly a romantic pick if you were going for that on a date night or for a romantic dinner. Sweet potato tempura is a test roll I usually get and they did a perfect job. It was warm and the tempura still had some crunch; sweet potato cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed his rolls as well but found the Lehigh Valley roll to be a little too big for his liking (I tried it and while it was big, I really liked it and might get it next time). They included an ample amount of wasabi with our orders which was a plus. We're new to the area so we will probably try some other places as well and see how Rice Family stacks up, but their certainly a contender for becoming a go-to!

Let me just say, as a transplant from outside the area, there are quite a few things I just totally don't understand about the LV. First of all, scallion pancakes are basically a staple where I'm from (New England). For the past two years I have been sick and tired of driving half an hour to Mr. Wonton for scallion pancakes that, while they do satisfy my cravings, are often overcooked. Don't even get me started on the "scallion pancake" that they serve at Griddle 145... what a sorry excuse... Most of the Chinese food around here is just disappointing. Not true of Rice Family, which clearly understands the benefits of a more developed menu selection, with some fusion options and excellent quality. I did enjoy the Thai place that previously occupied this building as it made it much easier for me to access mango sticky rice and drunken noodles when I had *those* kinds of cravings. However, I'm way more excited that Rice Family has opened just down the street from my home, significantly cutting my commute time to scallion pancakes. So, kudos to Rice Family!!! I will be a regular customer and will do my best to ensure that this place stays in business. Applause all around. The only other Chinese place that I'll continue to visit is Red Hot, and that's just because of their cumin beef.

We had to try this Chinese restaurant for lunch, given that yelp reviewers have given it four and a half stars. Sorry we did; let down once again by the reviewers of yelp. I ordered my usual dish for testing which is hot and sour soup with General Tso's Chicken. Both items had a commonality, given that there was no taste. Textures were there but no taste. The brown rice I had with my Tso's was the best since it is meant to neutralize the chicken and was exactly that, neutral taste but firm in texture. The chicken was slathered in sauce which did not have enough spicy heat for my taste; same comment for the soup, no heat. My better half had the shrimp and vegetable which was off. Not a good taste. She had the wonton soup which true to form, it had off tasting wontons.

They have great lunch special prices and great food. This it my place to go if I'm around Dorney or Allentown area.

We've had this twice for pick-up. The first time we ordered in the restaurant. The staff was friendly and efficient. The second time we ordered off their website. It was easy to use and allows you to put in comments (that they actually follow) for each dish. They got the orders right both times. So how is the food? From the Chinese menu, we have ordered sweet and sour chicken and sweet and sour shrimp. The batter was excellent, not too greasy at all. The steamed dumplings were excellent (we ordered them steamed). The cold sesame noodles were really good. The lo mien is just fine (we order it with just noodles, but they weren't greasy and it was a hit with the kids). The egg drop soup was fine. From the Japanese menu we have tried cucumber rolls (good) and california rolls (good). The only downside? No leftovers! The prices are about what you'd expect; it's not free, but it won't break the back, either. It's great to have this place in the neighborhood. We like it better than the local Chinese carry-out (which is fine) and we love that it has Japanese stuff, too. I hope this place sticks around!

Best Asian food in the Valley! I've eaten inside, gotten takeaway and delivery and the food served is always fresh. The inside of the restaurant is extremely clean, the servers greeted and sat us right away. The waitress didn't rush us to order how some places do and was really sweet. I'd recommend going for lunch as they have a great deal for a combo with rice, a choice of meat and soup!

I don't usually like trying "new" Chinese food, but Rice Family was close by and reviews were goid. Oddly, I was the only one in the entire restaurant. Even still, I was surprised at the lightening speed with which my sushi appetizer and Dragon Phoenix combo arrived. I always get General Tso's chicken. That is 1/2 of the combo-the other half is shrimp. It's probably the first time after all these years that it was actually spicy. Like...it had me reaching for my drink, which is really odd for me. I usually have to ask for extra spicy. It was all very fast, tasty, and hot. I must've just come late. $20. There's absolutely nothing to complain about. I only didn't rate 5 stars because ...I dunno-I feel like the coveted 5 stars should be for something outrageous and never before experienced. That said, I have no regrets at this point -10 minutes after the meal. All signs point to my coming back here for a long time. I just wanted to post a follow up. The food I ate a few weeks back sat very well. I didn't experience any discomfort or illness despite eating an awful lot on a pretty empty stomach. I'll be returning to Rice Family very soon--probably this week.

This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in the areA. Service is quick and always accurate. Their sushi is also great. I would highly recommend the Lehigh roll!

The vegetable lunch bento was fine aside from the sushi. I received an avocado and an eel roll. Both rolls were absolutely awful, if I could I'd demand a refund. Honestly the worst sushi I've had in a very long time.

We order here often. Quick delivery and always tastes great! General tso and curry chicken are my favorites from here
