"Spread over three storeys, this delightful venue with an open-air rooftop boasts a rustic décor inspired by local villages and rice fields and serves Vietnamese dishes from the north to the south. The stuffed snails with meat cooked with lemongrass and paired with ginger fish sauce, are succulent, while La Vong fish cakes strike the perfect balance combining vermicelli, marinated fish, fresh Vietnamese vegetables and herbs, shrimp paste sauce and rice paper sheets." - Michelin Inspector

A disappointment. They are over the hill establishment, not Michelin worthy of being mentioned. We did not enjoy our foods, fresh spring rolls, beef skewers and fried mackerel fish with Mango salad. We had better tasting spring rolls at other places. The beef skewers are chewy, and still red on the inside. My husband said the beef wasn’t cooked enough. Taste wise is just average, nothing special. The worst dish was the fried fish, which was just fried and put together with small slices of mangoes without any dressing to it. No effort to make the dish taste delicious or special. The service is average. Don’t waste your time n money to dine here.

I think we nearly ordered everything on the menu. We were there for lunch with the team, and all 11 of us couldn't finish the food. The portions were decent, and the taste was great. Will definitely eat here again. Do visit them when you are in HCM.

Rice Field in Ho Chi Minh City impresses with fresh ingredients and rich flavors, earning its Michelin star status for two consecutive years. However, the dishes can be a bit too indulgent; the fish had a noticeable fishy taste, masked somewhat by a rich sauce. The stuffed squid cream dish was underwhelming, lacking the finesse I expected at this level. Perhaps my high expectations, fueled by the Michelin marketing, played a role. While it's pricier than average for HCMC, the overall experience was decent. I’d recommend it, but be prepared for richness and a higher price point.

Had Banh Xeo with shrimps and pork and Fried pho cake with beef. Both dishes were great, banh xeo could have had less bean sprouts and more meat, though. The pho cake was surprisingly very good. Drinks were more expensive than average and in smaller glasses too. They have plenty of dishes on the menu which I am looking forward to explore in the future. Prices are higher than normal but that can be expected due to the location and their Michelin label. Overall, a great place in the heart of the city. Can also accommodate groups of all sizes. Definitely recommend.

Brilliant meal in HCMC, they had unfortunately run out of soft shell crab, and a few dishes, which is a shame. The pork, beef and fried spring rolls tasted delightful. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

Authentic Home-Cooked Vietnamese Dining at Michelin-Rated Rice Field in Ho Chi Minh City Ambiance: 5/5 Rice Field has a beautiful interior that blends traditional and modern Vietnamese design. Even the restrooms are elegant and well-maintained! The atmosphere is warm and upscale, making it ideal for group gatherings or special occasions. Service: 5/5 The staff were friendly and spoke good English, making ordering easy. Despite our large group of seven, the food was served promptly and with great attention to detail. It’s recommended to make a reservation, as this Michelin-rated spot can get busy. Food: 4/5 We ordered a variety of home-cooked Vietnamese dishes, with some clear favorites and a few that were just average. Here’s a breakdown of each dish: • Beef Skewers with Lemongrass (5/5) – Absolutely delicious! The beef was tender, and the flavor of lemongrass added a delightful depth. We all loved this dish. • Vietnamese Crepe with Shrimp & Pork (3/5) – The flavor was nice, but it was a bit too oily for my taste. With its large portion, one crepe would have been enough for the whole group. • Stir-Fried Water Morning Glory with Garlic (2/5) – While good, this dish tasted similar to cheaper versions available elsewhere. • Garlic Fried Rice (2/5) – Standard and nothing special; good, but nothing memorable. • Pomelo Salad (3/5) – Fresh and enjoyable, though something you could easily recreate at home. • Seafood Fried Rice (2/5) – Tastes like typical Chinese fried rice. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary. • Spring Rolls with Chicken (4/5) – Delicious! We enjoyed these a lot and would definitely recommend. • Fried Pad Thai (5/5) – A unique and tasty twist on the traditional pad Thai. We loved it! • Fish Basa (5/5) – Although I didn’t try it personally, my cousin said it was fantastic and perfectly cooked. Overall Experience: Our total bill was close to 3 million VND, which was reasonable for a Michelin-rated restaurant with a large group, including drinks. The range of vegan options was also a plus, making it a versatile dining choice for all. Key Notes: • Perfect for group gatherings with a beautifully designed space • Enjoy a range of authentic home-cooked Vietnamese dishes • Highly recommend the Beef Skewers and Fried Pad Thai for standout flavors • Prompt, friendly service with good English-speaking staff • It’s best to make a reservation to secure a spot, especially for evenings • Reasonable prices for a Michelin-rated restaurant

We had high expectations of a Michelin rated restaurant, but were disappointed with our dinner. The most serious issues related to service. The staff seemed poorly trained. For example: - We ordered two soups and were not provided any serving spoons, even though we were sitting 2 metres away from the serving station where there were a bunch of ladles. - We had to ask for tomato sauce several times. The spring rolls were served without any dipping sauce. We also had to ask for chillies several times. - Empty dishes and glasses were not cleared. We had to leave them on the neighbouring table to create space and they remained there the whole time. Meanwhile, waiters brought drinks and did not think to clear. - No one asked if we wanted a second round. Which was a missed opportunity. - It was very difficult to get a soda chanh without sugar. - There were enough staff but no assigned stations. So whenever any problem happened, they all congregated around trying to solve it, and ignored all other patrons. The food was patchy. The tamarind snakehead fish, caramel pork ribs, and squash and pork mince soup were the best dishes. The beef and rau muong salad was fine but a bit sweet. The fish sauce chicken wings was chopped into random chunks (I know that's how my mum would do it but it was not presentable for a nice restaurant), and there might have been only 2 wings. The beef skewers were slightly overcooked as were the chicken skewers. The fries were a generous serving but came with no dipping sauce. Everything else was rather bland and forgettable. Most dishes did not look like their photos in the menu. On the positive side, the decor is pretty and so is the menu.
