Google
New rice roll restaurant at china town. The menu is simple. When we stop by, they didn't accept credit card yet. Only cash or zelle/venmo if I am not mistaken. You order at cashier. We ordered shrimp and roe wonton noodle in chili oil and special rice noodle. It came with paper plate and plastic container. The highlight of our order is the rice roll. The rice roll was so thin and very nice. The wonton and noodle is also good. Interestingly when we asked for a bit of soup for noodle, they don't know what to do and ended up asking us to pay one dollar. Will comeback again to try something else.

Food was great, it’s an easy entree for people which haven’t tried Chinese food and don’t have to be afraid to get some intense dishes. In the restaurant is a mix between tourists and local Chinese poeple which is always a great sign. Prices are extremely good ! I can recommend the beef brisket which was very tasty and some of the dumplings to fill you up with sweet soy sauce.

Google
Simple meal, nothing fancy (nor are they trying to be). $14 for a plate of rice rolls and congee is a great way to start the day. Got the special for the rice roll. No complaints. They make their BBQ pork in house and it was fairly well done. Nice spot to grab something light if you're around the area.

Google
I walked by this place and saw a bunch of locals inside, decided to give it a try and am not disappointed. Filling portions, the #1 special is $9.21 and comes with choice of 1 vegetable (bean sprouts, lettuce, cilantro, corn, scallions). I got the soy milk as well, $2.76. Got the order after 8 minutes, and found seating easily because the dining room has ample seating (big tables, small tables, counter). Plenty of condiment choices as well, including chili oil and peanut sauce. The customers range from elderly to teenagers, and you can understand why after having it - great value for the price and large dining room.

Stopped by for a late lunch. Split two rice noodles orders amongst 4, but we ended up stopping by another spot for some take out dim sum. The rice noodles were freshly made and had a nice texture. Hit the spot as we were all hungry. We were able to snag a table for four, but the place quickly filled up. There's also a large communal table available, which was good for small and large groups. Would definitely come again to try some of their other options.

Google
The rice rolls here are delicious! They're the really thin layered style, perfectly fresh and chewy. Unfortunately I devoured half of it before remembering to take a picture, but the serving size is really good. I got the shrimp rice roll with cilantro and scallions, which is perfect for letting the rice roll shine :) This is now my go-to cheong fun spot in SF!

Google
Quick service for rice rolls with vegetarian options. Prices are very affordable. This was my second time stppping by. Forgot they only accept cash, venmo, or zelle. Food was ready in just a few minutes. You can add a wide variety of sauces — my favorite is chili oil, peanut sauce, and soy sauce. It’s a great place for something quick and filling. I look forward to stopping by again.

Google
The rice noodles are soooo good. Ive come here 1x a week. I recommend the egg roll with added beef, and scallions. Make sure to be generous with the soy sauce and chili crisp. Soy milk is also good.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this place, so I suggested it for lunch after the Chinatown Community Street Fair. Order at the register, find a table, wait for your # to appear on the screen and be called, and pick up your order. After eating, bring trays and trash to the trash cans. Our order: 金門精選 Rice Roll Special ($9.21) w/lettuce: +Rice noodles were so silky smooth and thin: Comparable to ones I've eaten in China! +Meat lovers paradise! There was beef, 2 kinds of pork (BBQ pork and regular), and egg spread throughout the rice rolls. +Lettuce was fresh and crisp. 金門精選 Rice Roll Special ($9.21) w/corn: +Rice noodles were so silky smooth and thin: Comparable to ones I've eaten in China! +Meat lovers paradise! There was beef, 2 kinds of pork (BBQ pork and regular), and egg spread throughout the rice rolls. -Corn was chewy (most likely frozen): I preferred the lettuce over this. 鮮蝦腸 Shrimp Rice Roll ($6.91) w/lettuce: +Rice noodles were so silky smooth and thin: Comparable to ones I've eaten in China! +Lettuce was fresh and crisp. -Small amount of shrimp 鮮豆漿 Fresh Soy Milk ($2.76): It was fine, but probably wouldn't get it again. +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue Side notes: 1.) Restrooms available for customers 2.) Walking distance from Chinatown Station *Verdict: I think I've found my new fave rice noodle roll spot! Service was efficient, and I loved how customizable everything was. We were able to add 1 free veg w/each rice noodle roll (bean sprouts, cilantro, corn, lettuce, scallions) AND there was a self-serve condiment station (chili sauce, peanut sauce, soy sauce, sweet sauce sesame seeds). I'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
I was walking around Chinatown and saw this rice roll place. Gave me the same vibes as Joes rice roll in NY. Ordered the standard shrimp roll which was $7.51 after taxes the fees. This place only accepts cash but takes Venmo too, which is why I remember the exact amount lol. The order came out in about 5ish minutes after reordering. They have different condiments at the front where you order which is nice. Looks wise, the rolls looks amazing. The rice noodle was thin and held the filling well. The downside was the filling. The shrimp was so small, probably smaller than my thumb nail. And I counted only 5 pieces of shrimp out of the whole order. You can see how deceiving it is to receive a huge plate but get so little filling. To pay $1.50 per shrimp!!??? That's robbery. Until they decide to not skimp out on the fillings, you'll never find me here.

Yelp
Spacious restaurant! You'll order first and seat yourself. Wait times are quick, there were 7 people ahead of us and we got our order in 15-20 minutes. They have a variety of sauces to add at the counter as well as soy sauce and sriracha for every table. Tables are always clean. The rice roll itself is fresh and thin, comparable to Joe's in NYC! The #1 special filling had an even amount of each meat. The #2 shrimp fest was good but the fresh shrimp is small and I'm used to the larger shrimps at dim sum. I would recommend if you're looking to sit down and relax after exploring chinatown!

Yelp
This semi-new cheung fun spot in Chinatown has me hooked! I came by yesterday to order 1 shrimp, 1 beef and a hot soy milk. The wait wasn't too bad, you just watch your number on the screen. The cheung fun was silky smooth wrapped in your choice of meat and 1 choice of veggie (I got lettuce). They have a small sauce station by the cash register (sriracha, peanut, and soy sauce). Since I got my order to go, I noticed two gigantic home made packets of special soy sauce! Soo delicious! They also serve up porridge and black sesame soup. The price is also so decent! No credit cards. Venmo, Zelle or cash. Definitely stopping by again the next time im in Chinatown!

Yelp
Rice Roll Express was on the top of my "Places to Visit" list when I was planning out my trip to San Francisco. The different reviews and photos already shared by others just had me salivating and hyped to stop by. RRE did not disappoint!!! It was so good as a late breakfast/early brunch, that I actually stopped by as a late afternoon snack before heading back to my hotel. The serving size is generous - and while it fills you up - being that it is rice rolls - you don't stay full for long. Service was great! I told the friendly clerk that it was my first time and he suggested their Special Plate - which has a combo filling of Beef, Pork, BBQ Pork, and Egg. You can choose an additional garnish - which the guy selected for me to be lettuce. I also ordered their hot soymilk drink, which was delicious! Wait-time is about 10 to 15 minutes - everything is made to order, so your food comes out fresh and hot. Soy sauce bottles upfront, but I noticed a few scattered around the seating areas. It looks small on the outside, but there's plenty of seating on the inside. There is a bar/stool style seating on the side wall, as well as tables and chairs throughout. The quality and uniqueness of the rice rolls here is apparent upon first bite. The roll tasted fresh - a hint of creamyness (either from fat or oil), as well as the generous fillings. It made each bite memorable, if that makes sense. It wasn't like traditional rice rolls from Dim Sum, but reminded me more like Vietnamese banh cuon rolls due to the thinness of the rolls. The fillings were flavorful, and unique enough from one another that you can taste them apart (rather than a mish mash of similar tasting fillings). Cash and Venmo accepted here! Literally cannot wait to come back - already have a small trip planned during the Lunar New Year celebration.

Yelp
Their rice rolls are freshly made, soft, and delicious. The sauce adds great flavor, making them filling enough for a full meal. You can also add vegetables for extra freshness. Just keep in mind that they don't take credit cards, only cash or Zelle and Venmo.

Yelp
Food: the most perfect quick bite i have ever had. Thinly steamed rice rolls with all the toppings you could ever want inside. Unlimited sauce for you to use. Great price. If you like the dim sum rice roll, you'll love this because it's similar but so many more options for filling! Service: nice cashiers and clear menu! Ambiance: plenty of seating. A lot of people come and go pretty quickly so there's a steady supply of chairs This place is so underrated. I am excited that they came to this neighborhood and am wishing this restaurant all the best! All of us enjoyed this thoroughly!!!

Yelp
Fresh, healthy, and quick. This is a no frills rice roll place in Chinatown, taking over the old Little Paris location. For a Chinatown establishment, there was ample seats within. Ordering was easy and they will call your number when it's ready. If ordering rice rolls, you will have a choice of adding 1 free vegetable to it (like corn, scallions, bean sprouts, etc). You get 3 rolls per order. The herbal soymilk is just normal hot soymilk with a jam/paste made with goji berries and jujubes added to it. It's hot, not too sweet and very enjoyable to drink. These rice rolls have a silky, delicate, and thin texture. It doesn't really have the glutinous "chew" that normal rice rolls have. They have a variety of condiments that you can dress your rolls with. They cost a bit more (still less than $10) than other places but it is made fresh in house upon order. Overall, it was good and I definitely would be back if I am looking for a quick, hot and delicious lunch.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch takeout after grocery shopping in Chinatown and the food was soooo satisfying and heartwarming! I ordered the special which included all the different kinds of protein, and it was only $10! Everything tasted warm and fresh. The service was super fast, and I loved that there were so many different sauces and condiments out like soy sauce, peanut sauce, chili oil, etc that you could add. The staff were very accommodating because I initially ordered dine in but then asked for takeout after getting my order. I also added the cilantro and green onion at home myself since those would have cost extra if I ordered it. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite in the area! I'm interested in trying their congee and soy milk next time.

Yelp
I keep walking by Rice Roll Express whenever I'm in Chinatown and always see a line inside, so I finally gave them a try. The prices are fair for the portion size, but overall, the rice rolls were nothing special. Like others have mentioned, they lacked flavor. I had to add a lot of hot sauce and soy sauce just to make it more enjoyable, but I don't see myself returning. I ordered the house special rice roll, which is supposed to have pork, BBQ pork, beef, and egg, but all I really tasted was ground pork. You do get to choose a vegetable to add in, and the kind lady at the counter recommended lettuce, which was fine. I also tried the rice porridge, but it was watery and bland. On the plus side, they make everything fresh to order, and they have both takeout and indoor seating. But with so many better (and cheaper) rice roll spots on the same street, I wouldn't go out of my way for this one.

Yelp
I stopped by here while running errands in Chinatown earlier this afternoon, and I knew it was a new spot since a friend had recently visited. Unlike many cramped spots around Stockton, this place offers plenty of seating--both tables and counters--and the interior is nicely renovated. You order at the counter and can either dine in or take it to go. I went with the shrimp rice roll, which came out in just over 5 minutes. For $7, it's a solid portion with a good amount of shrimp and a vegetable included. Be sure to grab some of the sauces at the counter like soy sauce, chili oil, and a sweet soy-based sauce. I'd definitely coming by for any quick lunch or snack!
google avatar

Tammy T.

Yelp
I tried the beef rice roll here and it was a solid 5/5! Super cheap, flavorful, and also a good portion for the price you pay. There's sauce bottles on the side to dress the rice rolls after you get your order. Owner is also friendly. Major plus to how clean and spacious this place is compared with other shops in Chinatown.

Yelp
New rice noodle roll (cheung fun) place in Chinatown with tons of seating! Cheung fun is one of my favorite Chinese foods and this place makes them just like I've had in China! So silky and soft and with so many different fillings. Even my mom enjoyed it and she can make her own cheung fun at home, so it's high praise from an Asian mom! It's a fast/causal spot where you order at the counter and seat yourself. They will call out your number when it's ready so you can pick it up. You also clean up after yourself and throw away your plates when you leave. They have a lot of different meat and vegetable options for the filling and you can also get it with egg inside. The tables have soy sauce and sriracha but in the front counter, they have more condiments where you can serve yourself. They have chili oil, peanut sauce, sweet soy sauce and white sesame seeds. I got the rice roll special which came with beef, pork, BBQ pork and egg. It was exactly $10. It came with tons of meat and was delicious! Definitely worth a visit if you're in Chinatown!

Yelp
Rice Roll Express is one of the best deals in SF - the rice rolls (cheung fun) are made to order, and are quite a bit tastier than what you'd get for 2-3X the price at a fancy dimsum place. Because they're made to order, the rice noodles are exceptionally light and airy - not gummy or mushy at all. I've had the shrimp feast (shrimp and egg) and house special (pork, cha siu, beef, and egg) rolls and they are fantastic. Be sure to add a free vegetable to your roll, scallions or cilantro work very well) and douse it all with soy sauce before eating. A cup of warm soy milk makes for a nice accompaniment. Wait time is approximately 10 minutes and they are cash only.

Yelp
Food - ordered the #1 rice roll express special and added lettuce. overall not bad, rice roll was pretty soft. overall flavor wasn't incredibly amazing, but still good. Service - quick and easy. order at the front and order was out in less than ten mins Ambiance - cute spot with ample seating for groups and lots of individual seating. clean

Yelp
I randomly stumbled across this spot while waiting for the bus. It's a hidden gem in china town!!! It's extremely affordable, so so fresh, and you know it's good as all the locals were eating there. Service was extremely quick and we ended up getting ours to go and eating in the park! They even give you all the sauces to go as well. Pro tip: make sure to add a vegetable into your rice roll! The scallions were delicious in the shrimp roll!
google avatar

Thu N.

Yelp
tldr; fast-casual, affordable and fresh rice rolls with plenty of seating! cash only. We got the beef rice roll with corn and the shrimp rice roll with scallions. Paired with soy sauce, both came out tasting fresh and piping hot and not too oily. The rice rolls were impressively thin, and the beef roll especially came with a generous amount of filling. The soy milk was also piping hot and pleasantly light. Wait was like 10-15 minutes at peak lunch hours on a weekend.
google avatar

Yelp
Rice Roll Express has all the signs of being a Chinatown gem: small menu (they quite literally only sell rice rolls and a couple sides), zero consideration for ambiance (all their food is served on paper plates), and cash / Venmo only joint. And honestly, they deliver! Everything is made to order, so I'd expect to wait at least 5 - 10 minutes even if no one's ahead of you. It is pretty casual and you order at the counter, collect your food when it's ready, and bus your own table. No public bathroom from what I could tell and honestly, super convenient that they accept Venmo for those of us who don't consistently carry cash. Rice Roll Special (5/5): Definitely top 2 if not some of the best rice rolls I've had. Because they're made fresh, they are perfectly tender and not gummy at all. Fillings are generous and the ground meat inside is seasoned perfectly while being melt in your mouth soft. Loved the variety of sauce options that were provided and will definitely be back if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Monika T.

Yelp
Tried their #1 and #6. Very silky and its the first time I am trying cheung fun with egg infused in there. I thought it was definitely pricey comparatively to other shops. But this place specializes in that. So its good. I would want to try the sesame soup and soy milk next time. They also have sauce that makes it nostalgic like good old hong kong street food! Nom!
google avatar

Yelp
Rice Roll Express specializes in freshly-prepared steamed rice rolls, made with a thin layer of rice flour batter enveloping various fillings. Each order came with three rice rolls cut into twelve pieces, and the Rice Roll Special came with a generous filling of beef, pork, char siu, and egg; and the Shrimp Feast came with shrimp, dried shrimp, and egg. Each roll also came with a choice of toppings (we got scallion and corn), as well as seasonings at the counter including chili crisp, jalapeño soy sauce, and regular soy sauce for you to customize flavors. The rice rolls had the perfect silky, smooth texture, and the fillings and condiments packed a flavor punch. Such a simple yet delicious dish that came at a great value too!
google avatar

Itzak H.

Yelp
Ever heard of a rice roll? Me neither but they are a great snack to have while walking around hilly SF. Rice Roll Express really hits the spot. Letting you customize your rolls basically any way you want at a price point that is somehow still under $10. Rice Roll Express is speedy and delicious, their service is quick and helpful and it also takes credit card which is sometimes a little hard to find in the city. Definitely good for anyone who wants a quick authentic bite without breaking the bank in a fast casual place that knows what it is.
google avatar

Janice M.

Yelp
FOOD: Was here for the rice rolls. They had a variety of different proteins and you can add a veggie to it. Combos are available as well. Rice rolls were freshly made and soft. SERVICE: Order and pick up at the desk.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Was craving a rice roll and wanted to check this place out. Solid option. I got the fancy shrimp with shrimp, dried shrimp, and egg for $9, next time I'll get the regular shrimp with scallions and lettuce ($1 upcharge). Nice array of sauces too. Lots of seating available, wish they had hot tea!

Yelp
First time here and food was great! We got there before it got packed! So we waited less than 10mins and got our order. We ordered two Rice Roll Special and we can choose 1 vegetables to add on and we added cilantro on both! We also ordered one beef rice roll with corn for our daughter. The beef was pretty tender so it's good! When you go picked up the food on the counter, there are some condiments there to add on for free. I sprinkled sesame on top and chili and sesame paste on the side. For drinks we got one soy milk and one herbal soy milk. Personally I like the herbal one more. And lastly getting the black sesame soup for dessert was a must! It came with a big cup and didn't taste as sweet! It was a good meal! Next time I would try the pork liver rice roll. This wasn't on the main menu. I saw the flyer on the bottom of the counter. Inside was pretty clean and roomy and luckily we were able to take the baby high chair for our daughter to use! Even though it will get pack here and there, a lot of people would eat and leave quick, so don't worry too much about no where to sit!

Yelp
Rice Roll Express opened where Little Paris was. Haven't been here in years. A fam. member picked up take out for me. RRE Specializes in traditional steam rice rolls. all orders made by hand upon receipt of order. Wait usually 10 minutes. Offerings: Steamed rice rolls, extra toppings, congees, soup, soy bean milk. Slurps: Rice Roll Special (9.21) -texture of rice roll velvety, silky smooth with a fluid melt in mouth essence. Unlike firm texture at present day dim sum houses. -fillings were a mix of beef shreds, pork meats, cha shu, green onions, & scrambled eggs. Carmelized Cha shu tender, tasted slightly sweet. Eggs velvety. Other meat's felt mushy, lacked definitive juiciness & flavas. -major flavoring from artisan soy sauce of bold sweetness & notes of saltiness. 4 stars rice rolls traveled well. Didn't eat right away. Didn't steam or reheat. Just allowed it to reach root temperature. Best to eat ASAP. Note: worked in a dim sum store with a stonemill rice grinder to create rice water from rice. Hand operated? *can use this fact on my resume if i seek a political office...

Yelp
I've tried this place twice and twice it didn't disappoint! It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a quick, express meal for under $10 nowadays but this place hit it right on the target. I think the menu grew a little bit since the first time I went to try this place out. I don't recall there being porridge, but they have it! It's the pork and thousand egg porridge for $4! It's in a cup but it's the perfect size for 1. The restaurant itself is really big but is really drafty when they keep the doors open. Def would come back to try the other rice rolls they have on the menu.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
So excited when a rice roll specialist opened up in the old Little Paris space (RIP to childhood banh mi joint). My second visit and the rolls are silkier than ever. Fillings are generous and you always get to add a free veggie (I can't resist corn). Orders come out speedily and after a drizzle of your choice of sauces and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, you're good to go. Get yourself a cup of warm soy milk to pair, and there's ample seating. Only complaint is the loud speaker for orders but the mellow tunes are generally fine.
google avatar

Kartik S.

Yelp
Shrimp feast rice roll was delicious. The rice rolls at perfectly thin and chewy. Liberally add soy sauce and the chili oil they have up near the counter.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
Excellent first visit. The rice roll special with beef, pork, BBQ pork, and egg was a great choice. Beautifully thin and tender rice sheets encased the flavorful ingredients. One free veggie topping (I added scallions). The herbal soy milk was a nice accompaniment. Top your rice rolls with a number of sauces at the counter: soy, chili, jalapeño, sweet sauce, peanut butter, vinegar, and sriracha. Clean and bright dining area. Friendly, efficient counter service. Reasonable prices. I look forward to returning!
google avatar

Renee T.

Yelp
The softest rice rolls you will have--they're so delicate and absolutely delicious. I ordered the special roll with scallion to try all the fillings. I personally liked the egg the best, so I think that's what I would go for next time, but you can't go wrong with any of them! I liked that you could sit down and add as much sauce as you could ever want. There is plenty of seating and it's a quick little joint. Service was great and fast, I will definitely be back again.
google avatar

L C.

Yelp
First time at this place. While I was looking at the menu outside, another customer eating by the window was giving a thumbs up so I thought I'd give it a try. The noodles on the noodle roll are super thin which makes this unique from other places.
google avatar

Shelley T.

Yelp
Our first time here so we tried the Rice Roll Special, which had ground beef, ground pork, bbq pork, and egg. The rice roll itself was thin and delicate, way better than what you normally get at dim sum restaurants. I was expecting the kind of beef you get with cheung fun, but it was ground beef and not the usual flavor with the orange peel, which was good since I don't like that orange peel flavor. My favorite meat was the ground pork, nice and tender. The beef was pretty similar to the ground pork. The egg was also delicate. The combo is significantly more expensive, so once you figure out what you like, I would just get a single flavor. We also got a porridge but it was barely warm, which was sad. We just took it home since it was almost closing time. They accept cash or venmo.
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Came in here for a quick bite while walking around Chinatown. The place is clean and service is quick. Note they do not take card but only cash, paypal, and venmo. The rice rolls came on a large plate and with lots of great sauces. If you love spice make sure to get the jalapeño sauce. Rice roll texture itself was soft, slimy, and chewy. The must try was the combo rice roll with all the delicious fillings.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
A bit chaotic since sometimes you go and you're told there's a 45 minute wait and other times it's less than 15 minutes. Not worth waiting too long for though. The fillings are a bit hit-or-miss, but I'd recommend the Shrimp Feast. Rice Roll Special w/ Scallion: There was a bit too much going on here for me. The big chunks of ground beef and ground pork didn't seem like they fit with the rice roll. The BBQ pork was a nice firm chunk and seasoned well, but it didn't seem the same as those tasty BBQ pork hanging in the windows of nearby shops. The rice roll texture was nice and fresh. However, it was hardly a roll. Kinda felt haphazardly assembled in a bunch of chunks. Shrimp Feast w/ Cilantro: I liked the bigger fresh shrimp and the smaller dried shrimp. Actually made for a nice texture and flavor contrast. Normally not a fan of dried seafood, but this worked. The cilantro was a good pairing on my side, observed from many great shrimp + cilantro dim sum experiences. The egg seemed a bit unnecessary though, like there was already enough with the shrimp. Same criticism about it not being very roll shaped.
google avatar

Francina L.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday around 3pm and it wasn't super busy. We walked in and it was clean and tidy. The sign said the rolls would be made in under two minutes. We ordered one shrimp, one beef and the large porridge. The rolls did not take long before coming out super fresh! The rolls melt in your mouth and they give you the options of toppings like green onions, corn, etc. we had chosen corn on the beef and green onions on the shrimp. I think I'll still to green onions only next time. The porridge was very flavorful, I would definitely come again as the service is speedy and the flavors are great.

Yelp
I visited rice roll express during their soft opening this weekend. They take cash only but that may just be for the soft opening, not sure. I ordered their special rolls which came with beef, pork, BBQ pork & egg. The wait was 40 minutes!! It seemed like they had quite a few people in the back. There were at least 3-4 other groups of people that waited as long as we did. I hope they improve the wait time once they officially open. The rice roll tasted pretty good! Very silly and fresh. I hope to try the other rolls next time but only if I don't have to wait 40 minutes .

Yelp
Amazing hidden gem in Chinatown close to good mong kok!!! We ordered the shrimp cheung fan and were blown away. The rice roll was really thin and flavorful, we can tell it is freshly made! The congee was also really good and flavorful, so feel free to try other things on the menu. It was also nice and peaceful (piano music in the background) so if you want to bring a wholesome date here, it would be good too.
google avatar

Colleen L.

Yelp
Whoo! A made to order rice roll spot, seriously, we need MORE of these rice roll spots. If you've never had the made to order ones, try it now! It's quite different from your dim sum cherng fun. The rice roll is extremely thin with toppings of your choice. They're cash only and prices are very reasonable. There are tons of seating, modern and clean interior. This is meant to be a quick eats spot. We got a shrimp with pork and also an egg rice roll. The execution was really good, the rice roll was soft, silky and light. The only thing I wish was better is the sweet soy sauce, it wasn't sweet enough and it would be amazing if they offer chili oil too.

Amy V.

Yelp
This restaurant is new, clean, and offers reasonable prices. Although there was a slight delay in service, the food was fresh and well-prepared.

Yelp
Casual restaurant with very good rice rolls! Nothing to call home about but a very good staple meal for a good price.

Yelp
Recently open rice roll spot in Chinatown so I decided to give it a try. I went to rice roll express on a Wed around 130pm. There was a good number of people inside eating and ordering. There were still seats to dine in and was clean. Most of the people dining in were solo customer including myself. Of course there is no free parking and rarely any street parking in Chinatown. I ordered the #1, which had beef, cha siu pork, and egg. Total cost was 10$. I did not know that you can add one of the following toppings for free: corn, lettuce, bean sprouts, scallions, or Cilantro until I read the menu completely. Make sure you guys add that free topping. The cashier asked if I were to dine in or take out which I said dine in. Took around 3 minutes for my order to be called. There are soy sauce and Sriracha on each table. I added sauce soy to my rice roll. My only dislike about my experience was the soy sauce. It was too bland... I even drenched my rice roll with soy sauce and it wasn't enough. Hopefully the restaurant can fix their soy sauce to the soy sauce u get at the traditional sit down dim sum restaurant. The rice roll was super soft and paper thin. Very nicely done. Next time I will bring my own soy sauce or take it to good and use the soy sauce I have at home.

Yelp
Great place to get my rice noodle fix (my favorite dim sum) for under $10! The rice noodle with beef order and rice noodle w shrimp order came under $7 each. Comes with their own cool packet of sweet soy sauce, not quite as sweet as the dim sum style in restaurants; but the noodle texture is nice and silky. Still good for takeout the day after as well. There are tables to sit down and eat too, pretty clean. You can buy rice noodle rolls at other nearby hole-in-the-walls for a bit cheaper, but typically their quality and quantity can be a hit or miss. Rice Roll Express here seems to be a reliable go-to, to be added to my Bookmarks. Quick service, pay in cash or QR code for Venmo/Zelle, no card. Located in the middle of Chinatown so it's best to visit if youre already on foot going through the area, or bussing in via Muni. Instead of parking within a 1 mile radius, drop a friend off to pick it up if you need to drive there.

Yelp
Good food, quick service. Nice and clean inside with ample seating. I got the rice roll special with scallions and loved every bite. They have a good assortment of condiments so you can tailor to your specific tastes. Price-wise this felt reasonable at $10 for the whole meal. Very enjoyable.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in SF Chinatown! The rice rolls were so thin and had lots of filling. Once we ordered, the food came out pretty quickly. I got the rice roll special and shrimp feast. I liked the shrimp one a bit more. You can add one free topping (bean sprouts, lettuce, corn, scallions, or cilantro) to your rice rolls and you can put your own sauce. They also sell porridge, soy milk, and black sesame soup. The porridge was good, but I wished it came with more of the preserved egg. There's lots of seating inside! This meal was so comforting and definitely recommend trying if you're ever in Chinatown!

Yelp
Went there last weekend and it was great. Place is too small for eating inside. The porridge was delicious and the black sesame was good too!

Yelp
I wasn't feeling great and was craving some warm comfort food so I picked up a meal here to go. I tried the pork w/ preserved egg congee and special rice roll. The congee was hearty and flavorful, though I wish there was a little more preserved egg inside. The large size was only $6 and I was able to split it into two meals. The rice roll was one of the best I've ever had - filled with ground pork, bbq pork, ground beef, and egg, all wrapped in delicate layers of rice rolls. The rice rolls are a bit on the expensive side, but the portions are pretty generous. I will be back to try the rest of the items on their menu!

Yelp
It's interesting when food trends spread, especially when it comes to Chinese cuisine. Apparently, rice roll stores and stands are now popular and commonplace in the greater New York communities. For Chinatown locals, most remember this store as Little Paris Vietnamese Sandwich Shop for many years after they relocated from the original store where the Central Subway Station is now. This shop opened about two months ago to little fanfare as Little Paris was closed for the better part of a year. They started posting paper menus (no prices) and notices on the metal roll-up gate in anticipation of their opening before then. I finally tried this around noon on a Wednesday. The tables had around nine guests either waiting or dining there. There is no wait service here so just walk up to the cashier counter and place your order there. They only accept Venmo and cash at this time. After placing my order, I kept my receipt and sat on a stool along the right-side counter as you walk in. A bell, as in doorbell, will ring when you order is ready so bring your receipt to the counter to get your food. I started with a pork with preserved egg congee, small (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=_lz_o3YqtbzOkXGli5rRWA); the porridge is on the thicker side with tiny bits of small chunks or ground pork and tiny preserved egg pieces, mostly the egg white portion. The flavor was okay but a few sprinkles of white pepper would have livened this up. The disappointing thing is the temperature as the jook was barely warm, not even lukewarm. I thought about bringing it back to the counter but I was on a time schedule so I just finished it as is. I also had the BBQ pork rice roll, add scallions and egg ($1.00 supplement) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=p1vInKHeFvdcZnjibNrLIw); at first, it looked bland and it definitely needed the table provided sauce bottles to spruce them up (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=N50vE2XfmL-r2AFcqgQxNA). This was surprisingly good as, unlike the congee, the rice roll and the filling (egg and BBQ pork) were temperature hot, as in freshly made. Service was pretty vanilla due to the format here though the guy (chef) who brought my food to the counter was smiling in handing me my food. I will return and this is especially a good dining option if you are in a rush, perhaps hence the "Express" name. I was in and out of here in 20 minutes, even after disposing of my plate, cup, utensils, and napkin (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=3XxUdXDif88hdWrYnNuaDw). They just need to make sure that their congee is hot or at least on the warmer side.

Yelp
affordable and convenient place for rice rolls (chang fen) & traditional chinese food! the rice roll was good quality (not the best i've ever had, but for the value and convenience it's super solid) but the porridge was the unexpected star. i love thousand year old egg and pork porridge and this did not disappoint. service is standard and friendly, and the ambiance was decent - just a casual dine in place in chinatown. overall, id recommend if you're craving rice rolls!

Yelp
There's a new spot for fresh rice noodles in SF's Chinatown! They have lots of yummy options but it you want a good combo get the number 1 which includes beef, pork, bbq pork, and egg (all orders include one free topping too). The noodles are not super thick which allows you to really enjoy the fillings. There are plenty of indoor seats and extra sauce and sriracha is available at the tables. Aside from rice rolls they also sell options like congee and black sesame soup. Service is fairly quick, you just order and they have a system that will call out your number for pick up. Note they are CASH ONLY so bring enough to fuel your hunger!
