The Biggest New Orleans Restaurant Openings in 2024 | Eater New Orleans

"I'm intrigued by the popular Nashville sake bar Rice Vice Sake coming to Algiers Point next to Nighthawk Napoletana: it's from Bryon Stithem (creator of Proper Sake Co.) partnering with New Orleans resident Bryson Aust, will pour Stithem's Nashville-brewed sake along with 10 to 15 sakes on tap including selections from other brewers, and will be an intimate 20-seat bar expected to open in early 2024." - Clair Lorell

Place is really cool! I've never had Sochu or Sake before and our bartender Fernando was really cool, he explained different drinks flavors very well. Aesthetically pleasing place as well. The bathroom is weird but cool with all the cats.

What a wonderful new addition to Algiers/The Westbank! It's always a win whenever the Westbank gets a new high-quality business! Rice Vice is a small cocktail bar run by Proper Sake Co. They have creative (and yummy!) cocktails and Japanese snacks. The interior is super cozy, but small, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time, though they do take walk-ins. It's located in the same building as Nighthawk Napoletana. Our bartender was wonderful, and overall we had a great experience. Will definitely be back!!

Definitely make a reservation. We showed up at 5pm and were lucky to be seated due to a cancellation. This place is very small but it makes for a good atmosphere. The night time lemon sour and the high ball were both very good. They also have genmaicha, if you just want to stop for tea.

Reservations are encouraged by the restaurant, but they're not really managed. Made a reservation, but never got a call or text or anything letting me know when a spot was available, just a "you're due in 30 mins" - I was there before my time just in case, too. You're better off just walking in and testing your luck. Hopefully I'll have better luck with them next time and will be able to give a better review, but for now, I don't have the best impression of them.

In a rare case, it is definitely worth the hype. Very cozy traditional "hole in the wall" sake place. Tip: while we were lucky, MAKE A RESERVATION. You won't regret the trip.

Amazing spot! The sake is amazing. Shaun is fun and knowledgeable. Perfect date spot or fun hang out. Make reservations because it is on the smaller side and popping!

Very excited to try this place but was disappointed. The sake wasn’t as expected. We didn’t finish any of the 6 in the sake flight. The speakeasy vibe comes off cheap and unfinished. NA drinks are overpriced. Snacks weren’t available. Wouldn’t return

This place is incredible and totally unique in every way. The sake and the shochu are amazing, and the cocktails are even better! They make all the spirits they use! 🤯 The design of the bar itself is a nod to Japanese “izakaya” and it feels like you’ve been transported into another world every time you step through the front door. It’s an intimate wooden shoebox filled with the sounds of vinyl and friendly conversation. Make sure you take the ferry if you’re coming from the east bank and try a flight of sake to find your favorite one.

Yelp
Rice Vice - Part Two is such a cool addition to the neighborhood, and honestly, exactly the kind of spot Algiers Point needed. The original location opened in Nashville, but this New Orleans outpost feels right at home with its warm wood interior, vinyl-lined shelves, and that unmistakable neighborhood energy. I'm not much of a drinker, so I told Richard -- our bartender -- that I was looking for something fun but non-alcoholic. He greeted me with a huge smile, ice water, and a small bowl of roasted corn nuts (which were incredible, by the way). Right away, I knew I was in good hands. I went with the Chai Sour mocktail, and it was absolutely delightful. Sweet, sparkling, cold, and balanced -- easily one of the best mocktails I've had anywhere in the city. The vibe inside is magic. The air was filled with Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and other soulful vinyl classics spinning in the background. They even do a "bring your own vinyl" Sunday, inviting neighbors to share and mix records -- how many places do that anymore? Between the great drinks, welcoming staff, and the soulful soundtrack, this place is a gem. I'm genuinely glad Rice Vice is in my neighborhood, and I'll definitely be back often with my wife. Algiers Point got lucky with this one. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Hidden away, trendy bar that you must go to. The inside is really well done and the drinks are fabulous. Highly recommend if you want a cool experience with high quality drinks

Yelp
Nice ambiance, and great service. Small, quaint, fun, and delightful. Reservation required... it's teeny in there
