11 Houston Restaurant Closings to Know Right Now, February 2025 | Eater Houston

"A non-alcoholic bottle shop in Rice Village that offered alcohol-free options — including wine, spirits, and mocktails — closed at the end of February after nearly four years in business. Owners Helenita and Danny Frounfelkner called the decision “heartbreaking” in social posts and a newsletter, began selling inventory on a first-come, first-served basis, and hosted a garage sale for fixtures. Danny Frounfelkner, who is now the general manager and beverage director of chef Andrew Musico’s Filipino tasting menu Chikahan, said there was too much competition with larger retailers and grocery stores that now sell a variety of non-alcoholic beverages: “It’s hard to be an independent.” In messaging to customers they wrote, “It has been more than a pleasure to help lead the way in Houston’s and Texas’ non-alcoholic journey. We will miss you, our customers and loyal followers, so very much. Laughing, crying, and sharing stories of triumph has made everything worth it.”" - Brittany Britto Garley

It is a pretty good place to walk around to shop and eat, if you like that sort of thing. Not many free parking areas available but there is a parking garage that charges after the first 2 hours. There is a lot of vehicle break-ins, which is unfortunate so I would say the garage is the safer place to park.

Navy Blue is super swanky and better than the new Little Pappas on Shepherd. It used to be my favorite burger place in the Village called Burgerville in the 70's- early 90's and had school desks for dining tables. There was a clothing store around the corner called Warp and Woof.

After a patron verbally assulted us, the restaurant offered to comp our meal, though we didnt ask for anything. Great food, service was excellent, but i think a certain Rice student was never taught manners. Shame it reflects on her generation.

We went for the market on Sundays. Love the complimentary parking available for under 2 hours. Great shops, and love the vendors that show up
