11 Houston Restaurant Closings to Know Right Now, February 2025 | Eater Houston

"A non-alcoholic bottle shop in Rice Village that offered alcohol-free options — including wine, spirits, and mocktails — closed at the end of February after nearly four years in business. Owners Helenita and Danny Frounfelkner called the decision “heartbreaking” in social posts and a newsletter, began selling inventory on a first-come, first-served basis, and hosted a garage sale for fixtures. Danny Frounfelkner, who is now the general manager and beverage director of chef Andrew Musico’s Filipino tasting menu Chikahan, said there was too much competition with larger retailers and grocery stores that now sell a variety of non-alcoholic beverages: “It’s hard to be an independent.” In messaging to customers they wrote, “It has been more than a pleasure to help lead the way in Houston’s and Texas’ non-alcoholic journey. We will miss you, our customers and loyal followers, so very much. Laughing, crying, and sharing stories of triumph has made everything worth it.”" - Brittany Britto Garley

Nice little shopping area BUT the whole shopping center shares data connect from a local network. Soooo no matter what cafe you go to, the data is pretty bad. I came to get food, coffee and do some remote work. Impossible. Download less than 1 mbps.

Lovely place to visit and shop as well as to eat. Parking garage had plenty of parking and was easy enough to get in, have a lovely lunch and walk around a bit, and leave again (2 hours free). Well kept garage and sidewalks and storefronts.

Super clean area for food and shopping. Feels safe and it was well patrolled by Houston police while we were there. Kind of a trendy vibe in an old school area of town. Check it out for sure.

Mixed commercial property with some limited residential interspersed. There are a lot of great restaurants of all types. Also there are lotsa chain tetaial places mixed in with more independent mom and pop type shops.

It is a pretty good place to walk around to shop and eat, if you like that sort of thing. Not many free parking areas available but there is a parking garage that charges after the first 2 hours. There is a lot of vehicle break-ins, which is unfortunate so I would say the garage is the safer place to park.

I would say this is a good Starbucks; but I noticed something that explains why Starbucks continue to lose money. Some of the staff at this location appear rude and somewhat snooty at this location. I won't say everyone there is rude , but one or two individuals there seem to forget that customer service is part of the reason why we pay that higher than average price for a cup of coffee there. They almost seem that bad mannerism is the norm . I suggest that management monitor this particular store for the way they talk and treat customers.

I love Rice Village but I have to say that the parking keeps people away from this place. I don't want to walk in the Houston heat when I can go to the Galleria and get much more and they don't charge me for parking. Anyone else agree 🤔🤔

There were many fun places to visit and restaurants to try out. Unfortunately, the free parking is limited. There is a parking garage, but it only allows for two hours of free parking before you must pay.
