The 38 Essential Toronto Restaurants

"This elevated, friendly neighborhood restaurant, which is actually steps from major attractions like the CF Toronto Eaton Centre, builds on a foundation of Canadian ingredients interwoven with worldly flavors. With thoughtful standards and precise plating, the dedicated team does practically everything in-house (fermentation, butchery, aging, curing, and baking) to reimagine familiar favorites. Duck confit wraps utilize potent gochujang sauce tempered with pickled cucumber, while halibut is bathed in butter and enhanced with fibrous English peas, smoked mussels, and effervescent chardonnay cream." - Tiffany Leigh

24 Best Restaurants in Toronto, From Glossy Hotel Eateries to Greasy Spoons | Condé Nast Traveler

"Richmond Station is a neighborhood restaurant that still manages to be elegant. And although the menu is on the shorter side, all of the dishes are thoughtful, flavorful, and unpretentious. If you're unsure where to start, the tasting menu from “Top Chef Canada” winner Carl Heinrich—humbly billed as "Let us cook for you"—is a good choice. No pretenses—just good food." - Todd Plummer

The food and service here was top notch. Really enjoyed the lamb. The sour dough bread didn't look like much, but had an amazing chewy texture. Surprisingly good! We inhaled the scallops, they were so fresh. The hazelnut chocolate cake was enough for two people and was a great way to finish off the meal. To top it off, the server explicitly mentioned that they pay their servers a living wage and the bill was the final bill which was really refreshing!

Had an amazing time here. We were celebrating a birthday too! They had placed a nice birthday card on the table too! Food was amazing!!! All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were able to have a tour of the kitchen too! Had a wonderful time here. Hope to come back soon. Highly recommend!

Recommended by the concierge at our hotel and wow, he was not wrong! Our server made us feel immediately welcome, we loved the amuse bouche and the drinks selection. The menu was reassuringly short, with some really creative takes on classic dishes. The burger was insane. The fish was amazing (the gnocchi!) And the fried chicken special was exactly that. My son, one of the world’s pickiest eaters, described the strawberries and cream dessert as ‘one of the best I’ve ever had’. Seriously great evening out.

Been here twice-the first for a birthday and most recently, to enjoy a nice meal with friends from out of province. Both times, we ordered the chef's tasting menu and wow. Incredible service and food, excellent flavour balance especially paired with the wine pairing, and enough food that will put you in a food coma. Great bang for your buck. Richmond Station remains a wonderful experience (better than some 1 Michelin star restaurants I've been to) and I will no doubt be back again to try out their ever changing chef's tasting menu. Do make a reservation though, we reserved for Thursday at 7:30 pm and the place was packed.

Yummy food and drinks, good service. Presentation of food was nice, and waiters kindly introduced each dish. Taste was 10/10 perfect. Table seating was a bit awkward, our 5th person was seated at the end of a four person table arrangement - had booked in advance as well.

Google
I heard good things about the burger and I was not disappointed. I've tried burgers all over the city, and to be honest, I prefer smash burgers. However, this is THE best steak burger I've ever had. It's filled with what looks like short rib giving it an incredible flavor and tenderness. The garlic aioli and the beet chutney balance each other out perfectly, while the pickled onions and lettuce help give it freshness and texture. Every bite is perfect and all the ingredients work together so well. They give you an extremely generous portion of fries and they are perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I did find them a bit on the saltier side, but the mayo dip help cut that. I also appreciate that tipping is already included in the cost of the food item. Service was amazing. Overall, this was a spectacular meal.

Did the chefs menu and it was the best meal we have ever had. The service and attention to detail were even better. So much fun to sit at the chefs table as well and watch the magic.

My husband and I returned here to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We first came to this restaurant after our small ceremony last year, so it felt meaningful to revisit the place where our married life began. The chef’s tasting menu was absolutely delicious, and they were more than happy to accommodate my dietary preferences (I don’t eat meat). To our surprise and delight, we even had the same server who took care of us on our wedding night — a small but special detail that added so much warmth to the evening. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated. They had a note on our reservation that we were marking our anniversary, took the time to chat with us about our first year of marriage, and later surprised us with a celebratory glass of champagne. With outstanding food, genuinely thoughtful service, and a cozy, elegant atmosphere, this place has officially become my favourite restaurant in Toronto. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
I've been here more than 6 years ago for their station burger and love that it's been a staple on their menu and kept the same amazing juiciness/flavours that I remembered from it! The service was great - I definitely recommend a reservation as it gets quite busy for dinner! We tried the Brie and that was great - a bit of sweetness from the brûlée and apple compote. Paired really well with the cheese and the crunch of the crostini. We also ordered the station burger (the best - and a generous amount of rosemary fries with it!) and the arctic char. While the arctic char was good - it was a bit too umami for us and were looking for a bit of freshness in the dish to balance it. It was still great though. The meal also came with complimentary homemade bread and a small fudge to finish off the meal which I really appreciated because we all want a bit of sweetness to end off a meal but not always have room for dessert! I wish more restaurants did this! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This year, I celebrated my birthday with a truly unique and unforgettable dining experience at Richmond Station in Toronto. It was my first time trying a tasting menu, and what a way to start! My wife and I had so much fun savoring a carefully curated 7-course meal, exploring bold flavors, creative presentations, and the welcoming vibe that makes Richmond Station so special. Why Richmond Station? Known for its focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, Richmond Station offers an ever-changing Chef's Menu that keeps diners on their toes. Every few weeks, the menu transforms, providing new opportunities to discover innovative dishes. I love the element of surprise that comes with not knowing exactly what to expect--it adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and the staff were incredible. From explaining the intricate details of each dish to engaging us in fun, casual conversation, they made the night feel both special and personal. The Experience: Chef's Menu Highlights Here's what we indulged in for the November 26 - December 9 Chef's Menu: 1. Selection of Canapés These small bites were a perfect start to the meal, setting the tone with a burst of creativity and flavor. 2. Pasture-Raised Beef Tartare This dish combined tender beef with beet chutney, pickled onions, and aged cheddar. The balance of tangy and savory flavors was spot-on. 3. Cookstown Sunchoke Velouté Served with black garlic and smoked mushroom, this creamy soup was earthy, comforting, and beautifully presented. 4. Honey Mussels The mussels were paired with gai lan, red curry, and crispy rice. This dish was packed with bold flavors and contrasting textures. 5. Duo of Howick Farms Lamb This was the highlight of the meal for me--a beautifully cooked lamb served with charcoal-grilled eggplant and sweet garden peppers. The smoky, sweet, and savory elements came together seamlessly. 6. Chocolate Cherry Tiramisu A modern take on the classic dessert, this tiramisu featured smoked cherries, chocolate ladyfingers, and amaretto coffee. It was indulgent and rich, with just the right amount of sweetness. 7. Frozen Yogurt The meal ended on a light and refreshing note with frozen yogurt, red fruit granita, and milk chips. It was the perfect palate cleanser. Vegetarian Chef's Menu For those looking for plant-based options, Richmond Station also offers a Vegetarian Chef's Menu that's just as impressive. Some highlights include: * Cookstown Beet Salad with honeycrisp apple and hazelnut cream * Stonetown Cheese Agnolotti with pumpkin mornay and charred onion * Charcoal Grilled Eggplant with sweet pepper velouté and chickpea fritters Our Takeaway This tasting menu experience wasn't just about the food--it was about the entire journey. Sharing it with my wife made it even more meaningful. Each dish felt like a celebration of creativity and care, and the warm, engaging staff added an extra layer of joy to the evening. If you're looking for a dining experience that's both refined and approachable, Richmond Station is a must-visit. The ever-changing menu ensures there's always something new to explore, making it perfect for special occasions or simply treating yourself. Practical Tips * Reservations: Highly recommended, as the restaurant is quite popular. * Menu: Changes every few weeks, so check their website or call ahead for details. * Location: Richmond Station is centrally located in Toronto, making it easily accessible for locals and visitors alike. Final Thoughts This birthday dinner was more than just a meal--it was a memory. I highly recommend Richmond Station for anyone looking to try a tasting menu for the first time (or the 100th). It's an experience that will leave you inspired, satisfied, and looking forward to your next visit.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner on a rainy Thursday evening around 1730. We rode the subway in from out by the airport to the Osgoode stop and walked three blocks or so to get there. One probably should make a reservation in advance, as several couples were turned away while we were there. The dining room is split into two sections by a staircase. We were seated in the front room at a two-top next to a pleasant younger couple. There is also a long high-top community table stretching almost the room's length with seating on each side. Conversations were lively, and the space had a positive vibe. Our server greeted us shortly after we were seated, helped us navigate the menu, and took our drink order. We selected an IPA on tap and a lager in a can on their specials chalkboard. Along with our beers, they brought some sourdough bread with sunflower butter. Yum. My wife and I both ordered the station burger. Served in a cast iron skillet, it had a pile of fries. The burger was messy and delicious. We both went to the restroom afterward to wash our hamburger hands. A couple may be able to split the burger, enjoy a starter or two, and be happy. Overall, we had a great time at the Station. The service was excellent and friendly.

Yelp
r/foodtoronto named RS one of the best tasting menus and after my visit tonight, I have to agree. The canapé course alone is like 3-4 amuse bouchées (makes up for final course which is a tiny merengue macaron). $125 with tip included made it a solid value. Great location to enjoy some pre-dinner shopping at the Eaton centre.

Yelp
I heard a lot of good things about their burger, so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because it was a very good burger. It was very juicy cooked medium rare, the cheese was nicely melted, adding an extra bit of richness to each bite, and the pickled onions added a bit of sweetness. The bun also worked well, holding up to all the toppings. They give you quite a lot of fries, which were above average and nicely seasoned. I was not able to finish all of them. I had an Old Fashioned to drink which was very good. The restaurant itself is nice, but I felt that they jammed too many tables in the space. As a result, it was kind of noisy and a bit difficult to converse with other members of my party. The service is good. There was a bit of a problem at the beginning of my visit, but they did well to make up for it. Overall, an excellent restaurant. I would like to go back at some point to try their other dishes.

Yelp
Richmond Station comes from a Canada Top Chef winner and focuses on upscale Canadian foods. I made a reservation in advance so was able to get seated promptly - while fairly empty at time of opening, by the time I was leaving at 530ish, the restaurant was bustling. I got the famous Station Burger. A sizable meaty burger with just the right light amount of fixins. The burger was on the softer moister end but still had that meaty bite. Fries were delicious and plentiful. They also had a small but decent selection of easy to drink beers. Service was nice. A modern but elegant vibe. And cool to sit by the open kitchen and see the chefs at work.

Yelp
This is an amazing spot for a meal in Toronto. Came with work colleagues for lunch and had a fantastic time. The service here is incredible! They are very accommodating, prompt, friendly and attentive and will do their best to make it an exceptional experience. I ordered a fall Mac & cheese which was hearty, warm, and full of delectable flavours. The restaurant itself isn't large and can get a bit cramped, but it definitely has a cozy feel. I was seated in the back near the open kitchen which was nice to see. Will look forward to dining here again!

Yelp
An underwhelming meal. Everything was competently made, but nothing wowed me. The oyster mushrooms were good, but the sauce was a bit too tart and the fry lacked flavor. The grilled arctic char was bog standard. The duck was a bit more interesting, and the accompanying mushrooms were delicious.

Yelp
If you're up for a little splurge, you can't go wrong with Richmond Station! Even a la carte, we had delicious drinks, apps, and mains. We tried their duck liver pate which was so maple-y and sweet that if you didn't tell me it was liver, I would have never known. I'm glad they had NA cocktails too that are not just zero alcohol beers or juice.

Yelp
Hit up Richmond Station for a dinner date, and it was buzzing inside. Glad we booked ahead, a must-do especially on weekends. The service was standout--really attentive, answering all our questions in detail. Had high expectations since my boyfriend raves about this place, and it didn't disappoint. Loved the vibe, especially being able to watch the kitchen action from our seats. We kicked off with smoked salmon rillettes, which were fantastic. The rich salmon paired with sharp shallots on homemade potato chips was a texture and flavor win. Moved on to Brigid's brie next, and as a brie fanatic, I was all in. The sweet rhubarb and crispy exterior were great, though the sweetness slightly overshadowed the brie's natural flavor. Still, a solid choice for brie lovers. The chicken fried oyster mushrooms were a pleasant surprise--never been a fan of oyster mushrooms, but these were delicious. The combination of mayo and yuzu with the mushroom's umami was spot on. The beef tartare was another highlight. It's a favorite of mine, and Richmond Station nailed it. The mix of flavors and textures, especially with the crispy potato, was perfect. Ended on a high note with a salted caramel tart--absolute perfection. The balance of hazelnut, caramel, and vanilla was just right. Richmond Station was a fantastic experience. So glad to have been introduced to it and definitely planning a return visit!

Yelp
As one of my favourites, Richmond Station is consistently amazingly delivering delicious and innovative dishes with predictably reliable service. On my latest visit nearly everything I had continued to live up to expectations. Though after years of putting off what is supposedly Toronto's best burger, I finally tried it. While it was good - very good - there are far better options on Richmond Station's menu.

Yelp
After a couple of hits and misses in Toronto, this place absolutely hit the spot. Made a reservation and arrived and we were seated promptly. There's a large high top seating area in the front with the bar and then there is a slightly smaller dining room up the stairs, and to the back where you can sit and face the kitchen or just see the kitchen from where you're sitting. Our waiter was very friendly, extremely verbose, may be a little overwhelming, but in a nice sort of way. There was no rush, but we were attended to promptly and beverages we're brought over within just minutes of ordering. I had a Pisco sour, which was absolutely fabulous. Everything on the menu looked so good, instead of ordering our own individual dishes, we ordered the duck confit lettuce wraps as an appetizer, and then had the suckling pig, and the potato agnolotti. Each dish was better than the last. The duck confit was sweet, spicy, and just the right of sour to make every bite. The roast suckling pig looked like a nice cut of loin meat, deeply browned on one side and served with a delicious black peppercorn sauce. The potato agnolloti was served with a light cream sauce, small bits of kale and some type of pepper. I was pleased that we had told the server we were going to share all the dishes, and they brought out serving utensils and plates for all of us to accommodate our request. To finish we had the sticky toffee pudding. True vanilla ice cream, wonderful caramel sauce, and a beautifully presented dessert was perfect for finishing off this meal. Definitely a spot you want to try if you're in Toronto

Yelp
Had dinner at Richmond Station last week... For reference we ordered: scallop sashimi, a burger, the special which was pasta with duck, agnolotti, and the cauliflower steak. The good: service is impeccable, restaurant is clean and welcoming, location is great. Most of the food was good. The not-so-great: food was a bit underwhelming, especially considering the prices. I mean if I'm paying $36 for cauliflower it should definitely bowl me over in terms of taste, and at least be more than 5 bites. Overall, I left a bit hungry and disappointed but I'll still give the experience 4/5 because I think it's my fault that my palate isn't elevated enough for this restaurant!

Yelp
Pros: Fantastic service. Bartenders have skills. Best cocktails we had in Toronto. Creative, inspired menu. Farm to table meats and produce from local Ontario farms. Cons: Tables are uncomfortably close together and it affected our dining experience. Unintentionally learned WAY too much about the personal lives of the people next to us. Burger was ordered medium but served rare.

Yelp
Had the chef's tasting menu. Everything was delicious, and the service was unobtrusive, friendly, and welcoming. As far as the food goes, here is a quick breakdown. The meal started with an attractive assortment of canapés. All of them were very tasty, and the perfect introduction to the rest of the meal. The first course was scallop sashimi, which was exceptionally fresh and delicate. Absolutely delicious. I usually order red wine when we eat out, but we decided to try a bottle of dry Riesling instead and it paired perfectly with this dish. Next came the potato velouté which was complex and full of umami. It was fantastic, and a nice contrast to the freshness and lightness of the first course. The third course was braised venison ravioli. It was served with a parmesan mousse and an intense mushroom broth reduction. The broth almost flirted with being too salty, but it was delicious, and I loved the rich intensity of the flavours. The last course was a kind of rabbit sausage, with morel cream, spring onions, and black trumpet mushrooms. My girlfriend said she liked it but that it wasn't her favourite course. I thought it was delicious. Before dessert arrived, they brought an amuse bouche, which was Brie sandwiched between a crispy cracker, that was almost like a crispy, caramelized wafer. Dessert was Black Forest mousse, with preserved cherries. It consisted of both white and dark chocolate mousse, and was very decadent and delicious. Finally, we were served a selection of petit fours on a two-tiered serving plate. It was like a dessert version of the canapés, and a nice way to end the meal. All in all it was a great meal, and I'd definitely give it another try for a special occasion.

Yelp
Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Richmond Station didn't make the latest Michelin guide and I think I know why... My last two visits for lunch were excellent. Made a reservation for the 2.5 hour tasting menu 45 days in advance for the Chef's table. It was originally priced at $105 and was bumped for $140 a couple of weeks prior to dining. The chef's tasting menu is framed as a testing menu for potential new dishes on the permanent menu moving forward. Service is included with all prices and merely tax is needed. Tipping is discouraged. Staff were talented, in uniform. Some also wore a mask and gloves. The dining room is tightly packed and is quite casual, despite being located right in the middle of downtown Toronto. Parking is available in paid garages nearby. Started off with the selection of canapes and it was extremely well presented. From a taste perspective, it was lacking in terms of flavor... The tomatoes course was also mediocre. The shrimp were tiny and the anchovies were extremely salty. The presentation was good. The soy marinated hen's egg was also another miss. The egg was extremely salty while the sides were well presented. For the mains, had a tasting portion of the halibut and it was world class. The halibut was perfectly grilled unskinned and deboned. The inside of the halibut was perfectly moist and juicy. The side of peas and foam were all spot on. The bread course was also excellent. The bread was soft, baked to perfection, topped with butter and served with a side of butter. The dry aged duck breast course was also decent. Perfectly grilled duck breast cooked to a perfect medium pink on the inside and served with a side of mushrooms which were grilled to perfection. The deconstructed strawberry shortcake was mediocre. Wasn't a big fan, although the fresh Ontario strawberries were a great touch. The final course of petit fours were unfortunately a disaster. They were extremely sweet. The mini boston creme donut didn't taste too fresh either... ~$155/head for a tasting menu dinner after tax with service included.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! This place is amazing. We ordered the following dishes and did not leave disappointed. The following are rated based on favorite to least favorite: 1. Roasted Suckling Pig-this dish contained crispy pork belly and a piece of pork shoulder served with a variety of veggies. Wow, this was the best pork that my SO and I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, tender, and seasoned. We almost licked the plate. 2. Chicken Fried Oyster Mushroom-this dish came with perfectly battered mushrooms that tasted filling like protein. The perfect amount of Mayo and sesame seeds to finish. 3. Penokean Hills Beef Tartare-this tartare was well seasoned and came with Bibb lettuce. There needed to be more lettuce but flavors were excellent. 4. Duck Liver Pate-this dish was served with brioche which was a bit too thick and dry to accompany the pate. A lighter bread ursThe pate itself is flavorful and texture-ful but the strong strawberry scent masked the taste of the dish itself. 5. Station Burger-voted Toronto's burger, this is a combination of sweet and savory with some sort of jam and Mayo with a perfectly cooked patty. Unfortunately, compared to everything else, this wasn't the best thing we've had. However, still solid! Service was excellent, and interior was nicely decorated. The meal itself comes with complimentary bread. The focaccia bread with cream and sunflower oil was also tasty. A little toasting of the bread and extra cream would have made it perfect.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant serving amazing food....great vegetarian options. The chef's menu was to die for. Loved the Dry Aged Tanjo Farm Duck Breast and Soy Marinated Hen's Egg garden vegetable crudité, house "X.O.", lemongrass jus. Exceptional service and ambiance. If you visit Toronto Richmond Station should be top of your list

Yelp
A wonderful experience with innovative and delicious twists on classics and an amazing staff who are helpful and incredibly knowledgeable on both the dishes and drink pairings. You have the option of the Tasting Menu or A La Carte. We opted for the a la carte and were quite happy with the chicken duo, burger, and agnolotti. The agnolotti is the must-try hidden gem - the textures and flavors blend beautifully together and the pasta pillows literally melt in your mouth with a burst of the creamy filling. The burger is a classic and the chicken duo brought grilled and fried chicken to a new level. Definitely recommend booking a reservation here. Tip is also included which ups the value equation as well

Yelp
I'd been waiting ages to try Richmond Station (I'm from out of town) and I guarantee I won't be waiting that long again! From the greeting to the atmosphere to the service and of course the food, our dinner (our rather, our dining experience) left nothing to want. We enjoyed the tasting menu at the chefs table where we were served impeccably by William, as well as Lisa who popped by to chat a couple times to inquire about our meals, deliver a surprise or two ;) and answer every question we had. The seating at the chefs table was cozy and provided interest and entertainment, as well as a chance to meet some "neighbours"....One couple visits every time they are in town; the other couple, from Pittsburgh, came because it was highly recommended by other restaurants and bars. The canapés to start were varied and the tomato water (who knew such a huge burst of summer flavour could come from such a small shot!) and the trout roe were the front runners for us as starters. Our favourite dish was the salmon sashimi, though both the halibut (with beautiful chanterelles) and the peach and tomato salad were close. The attention to detail like the peeled cherry tomatoes did not go unnoticed. Literally every dish was a hit. And when I thought it couldn't be more surprised with incredible flavours, I was proven wrong when they hit us with the lime leaf ice cream! Easily in my top 3 favourite meals. Great job, Richmond Station. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
By all measures, Richmond Station should have a Michelin Star. My wife and I went here for our last night in Toronto and thought it was tremendous. Starting with the ambiance and service. The restaurant is situated in a rather unassuming building and, upon entering, it appears to be quite small. However, after walking past the downstairs portion, you are greeted by a series of modular dining rooms that are very large. Upon being seated at the chef's bar, my wife and I were greeted quickly and given excellent, prompt service throughout. The sommelier did seem a bit unsure of himself, but he was still quite kind and attentive. Drinks wise, we enjoyed the wine pairings. The pairings worked well, but only one white wine surprised me and none of the pairings were such that I would assert the wine paring itself is a necessity. We both had the chef's tasting menu and were delighted. Some of the most memorable dishes were the egg-based salad, the amuse bouche, and the strawberry shortcake dessert. The only disappointment was the duck, which felt like it wasn't rendered quite right. If this were a Michelin started restaurant with multi hundred dollar prices, I would have given Richmond Station a 4. But the sheer value of a place that by most counts measures up with its accoladed brothers and sisters, earns a 5 star rating in my book. Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Food: 4.5 Drinks: 4 Value: 5 Consistency: N/A

Yelp
We had a great time at Richmond Station doing their tasting menu. Some of the things they brought out to us (like the tartare chip) we were absolutely blown away by. The best/weirdest part of the whole experience was when the sommelier gave us a whole spiel about the glass of wine he was about to pour us - how insanely expensive this wine was, how rare this wine was, how they had to personally convince the winery to allow Richmond Station to serve it, etc. So of course, we were impressed! ... Until I Googled the wine. It was just ~$30 a bottle. Totally available for purchase. So I'm not really sure what the point of the theatrics was, but it certainly went down in history as one of the more hilarious things that we've ever experienced at a restaurant. I would certainly recommend the tasting menu. As for the wine pairing, I'm not sure if it's the best "bang" for your "buck" so to speak... But it is entertaining.

Yelp
Have to say this is a premiere Toronto eatery. As a traveler from the States, I did research on a "Canadian" centric restaurant and this popped up. Silly me dropped by on a Wednesday telling myself I should have made a reservation and unfortunately could not get seated that night. The very next day, I made a reservation for Friday. Jade was my server and she did not disappoint. I let her know I was looking for either a light main course or a couple of appetizers since I was in town for a Dodger @ Blue Jays game. Jade assisted me cheerily with picking out a couple of appetizers that fit my palette and even allowed me to sample a couple of wines to pair well with the dishes. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Rillettes and Chicken Fried Oyster Mushrooms with a glass of Riesling and can honestly say the mushrooms were to die for! I'll be sending plenty of friends and family to enjoy a meal at Richmond Station, with a reservation of course! Thanks again, Jade!

Yelp
We dropped by last Monday. I had an out of town guest from London, UK. Very friendly staff. We got there shortly after 7 without reservations. Got a high table up front. We were fine with it. Food was mostly great except for the suckling pig that was not suckling pig to me, the Chinese and my guest who is British Indian & lived in Asia. We get the skin was crispy but the pork itself was ham - nothing else would remind us of suckling pig. We much preferred the beans and sides that came with it. Everything else we had were delicious. From the the duck confit app, gem salad, mushroom app, and spiced sticky toffee pudding was praised by the British guest who enjoyed this version of their national dessert. They had sufficient staff checking on us throughout the evening that were always friendly. The time we did need them to take our food / drink order we did have to wait (awkward). Overall we had a very pleasant dinner catch up there.

Yelp
This was the best place I ate in Toronto. It books quick so get a reservation early. They start you out with some homemade bread that is fantastic. It's guy a really nice chew and a olive oil butter sauce unlike anything I have had. I also got a starter of oyster mushrooms. Wow these are good. Lightly fried and covered in some delicious sauce. Maybe my favorite dish here. The pasta dish I had for my main was rich and fantastic also. Light pasta with a cream sauce. My kids got kids mean which were elevated kids food that I would have been happy eating. Also priced very reasonably. Before leaving, they also give you a small piece of homemade chocolate which was really delightful. Another interesting thing about this restaurant is you don't need to think about tipping. Everything is included in your bill. I like this. Makes it easy for everybody.

Yelp
Service was excellent, wasn't too loud in the restaurant, I found this to be an enjoyable experience! Personally felt like the food was average, I'm unsure if it was worth the money we paid.

Yelp
Hands down, the best restaurant in the city. Not only is the food wonderful but the people that work there are so passionate about what they do. In and out of the kitchen. It is THE place I suggest to people when they come to the city and the tasting menu is always an amazing choice. So many delightful surprises and you're always so happy and full after. I can't say enough good things about them.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. We tried the chef's menu and were accommodated nicely. Our party had a back room to ourselves with a rack to hang our coats. Our server was friendly and attentive. My allergy and another guest's vegan diet were accommodated and communicated with each dish. The menu included items I had never heard of before. The canapés were interesting. While I was not a fan of the maple duck liver cones, the green curry canapé was delicious and flavourful. The overall service of each dish was a very informative display. Many servers came out to run the food at once, ensuring that everyone had their food at the same time. Waters were refilled promptly and drink orders were quickly fulfilled. A few guests opted for the additional wine pairing and each bottle was presented and served with knowledge. The food servings were small but for the overall experience, I was full by the end of it. There were about eight courses total and I almost couldn't finish the last ones! I think the food was good but not to everyone's taste. If you are into trying new and different foods, I definitely recommend giving the chef's menu a try. If you are more into ordering chicken strips & fries wherever you go, this might not be the menu for you. Highlights of my meal: The cauliflower bites were flavourful and provided a perfect crunch. The sauce they were tossed in really made all the difference. The Brie cheese with bread. I couldn't get enough! It was topped with sweet honey and crunchy croutons. I could've eaten it with a spoon. The pure island beef was to die for. Nice and tender beef that was prepared rare paired with the savoury potato and onion tart. This was the perfect course to end off with before dessert. Overall, I really enjoyed this dinner and would love to eat here again!

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant about 5 times now, over the course of a few years. I went with different groups for different events, from a work lunch to celebrations! While the ambiance, admittedly, didn't initially excite me, I keep coming back because the food is incredible! For example, their take on Chickpea Panisse is one of the best things I have ever eaten, anywhere. I highly recommend this restaurant. It just keeps getting better!

Yelp
I was very fortunate to experience Richmond Station's tasting menu for my birthday. My brother had reserved the chef's table seating in advance - which directly faced the kitchen's open window. It was a nice treat to see the process behind the meal. Tracy was our server for the majority of the evening, and she was such a delight! Kind, courteous and humored my brother, lol. The tasting menu comes with an optional beverage pairing for an additional fee, but I will say I am delighted we took advantage and added the beverage pairing. I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu, with my favorite offerings being the Selection of Canapes and the Dry-Aged Penokean Hills Beef. The canapes were such a fun selection, and a great way to lead into the meal. The dry-aged beef was memorable and delicious. I will say for myself, the highlight of the tasting menu was Linda's enthusiastic descriptions of our paired wines and how its balances with the upcoming course. As someone who is not so familiar with wine, I truly appreciated her knowledge. Richmond Station was an experience I would love to delve into again, and it truly made for a memorable birthday dinner.

Yelp
Our first time in Canada so we wanted to try someplace that had Canadian cuisine and Richmond Station was highly recommended. They change their menu often every couple weeks so my pictures and recommendations may not apply to you. But if you can order the potatoes to share. It was potatoes 3 ways with shaved mushrooms- wow just wow. We ordered a 2nd to split. My lamb was great. My co-worker did the station burger and he said it was amazing. The duck was also delicious too. Desserts - yum We did the olive oil lemon cake & apple pavlova. Both excellent Wait staff was wonderful & I was upset to find out they don't accept tips.

Yelp
At Richmond Station, every two weeks, their chefs create a tasting menu ($120) with an optional beverage pairing ($75) that tests ideas in progress (some finding a permanent home on the a la carte menu) and others simply showcasing the amazing ingredients available. Their late July menu started us off with a selection of canapés, a great way to begin so diners have something to nibble on while waiting for the main attractions to arrive. We start with the salmon tart filled with finely chopped salmon, onion, and dill aioli creating a fresh savoury bite. The pastry has a soft crispiness that's a little unexpected - it tastes like thinly compressed shortbread. The fish was great, but the shell made me ponder. Luckily, I didn't have to think for long as my mind was blown by the buttermilk oyster. It is SO good! What a genius idea to use buttermilk and herb oil as the flavouring - the creaminess combines wonderfully with the silky briny oyster, while still having a touch of acid. Ultimately, it allows the oyster to finish sweeter. Move over red onion mignonette, let's hope buttermilk rains supreme. Our server suggests we follow the oyster with the thick tomato bisque, which was fine but not nearly as great as the oyster. Be sure to dig to the bottom of the teacup, that's where you'll find pieces of Parmesan crisps that add a salty hit to the soup. Following orders, we sample the profiterole last as its sweet and salty filling (perhaps a liver mousse with maple syrup?) brings an almost dessert-like finish to the canapés. Personally, I think Richmond Station should consider including one of these with the bill, in lieu of the typical chocolate (the restaurant does put a sweet and salty spin on the mignonettes), as it's unexpected and ends the meal on a lighter note. It's no surprise that the summer menu features a host of seafood: the starter, a scallop crudo, takes a fresh clean scallop and adds bits of radish to enhance the soft shellfish. I love the diced pickled jalapeño that add an unexpected hint of spice, which is calmed by the lime crème fraiche. I've always associated Richmond Station with meat (likely because of their famous burger), but this menu shows they do seafood well. This is a long review, for the rest go to Gastro World.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday and did the tasting menu. The price is pretty reasonable for a tasting menu at a fancy restaurant. I thought all the ingredients were really fresh! It's great to see local ingredients. My favourite were the canapés (tiny food!) and the lamb chop. I was so full after the end so it's a good amount of food. They're pretty accommodating with cakes if you bring your own as well! It was more of a loud and busy atmosphere. The back dining area was pretty crowded when I first arrived. So this is not the place if you want a quiet more isolated environment.

Yelp
I've been here twice for their tasting menu. Both times, I made reservations but I don't think it's necessary unless it's a weekend. Their taste menu is posted on their website weekly which gives the meal some predictability. The place isn't huge with a few tables, a bar counter, and a shared high top table. There is a focus on seasonal produce for their tasting menu which I enjoyed. The first time I went in the spring/summer was a bit better than the autumn menu only because I prefer fresh greens over fall root vegetables. Cocktails are also quite nice and there is an option for drinks pairing with the meal for an additional fee. Definitely not a cheap meal but it never disappoints. As a bonus, the staff are paid a living wage and it's a tip free establishment for this reason.

Yelp
This restaurant is a classic in Toronto for upscale dining at a reasonable price. I got the duck two ways: served as a duck croquette and duck confit. The croquette was good but I much preferred the duck confit, as that is where you truly get to appreciate the flavour and texture of the duck. For dessert we got the spiced apple pudding - the texture reminded me of cassava cake. The flavours were harmonious and went well together!

Yelp
OMG! Went here for a date, it was AMAZING. The food was cooked to perfection and while I wasn't impressed by the bread serving size, I was impressed by the time I finished my entree and had was perfectly satisfied by the portion of the bread, half a shareable, and my meal. We shared the chicken fried oyster mushrooms which i was nervous about coming pre-tossed in aoli, but they had the perfect amount of sauce! The texture was amazing and flavors worked so well together. For my main, I order the leek and chickpea burger which was perfectly crunchy and a nice size. Not too big, not too small. It was cut in half for easy eating. The rosemary fries that came with could've used more rosemary but were other fantastic. My date ordered the monkfish which had such a wonderful flavor. Not overpowered by the seasoning, but worked together so well. My boyfriend had the specialty beer was an orange and coriander wheat beer and was delicious. I had a garden gala cocktail which had the most AMAZING rhubarb foam on it! Like a fruity, alcoholic cold brew cold foam. We had the dessert wine reisling as our finish, and that had the most satisfying maple undertone to it. Complimentary fudge was the cherry on top!! Will be back if we are ever in Toronto again.

Yelp
During my vacation in Toronto, my husband and I had dinner in this restaurant. I booked in advance and it was easy to find a table for two. Richmond Station is known for his burger, so we both ordered it. It comes with fries. The burger was delicious. I enjoyed the contrast between the sweet of the beet and the salty ingredients (cheese, meat). Fries are also good, but for me too salty. I think the price is very high (29$). I live in San Francisco, so I know how expensive could be a city, but in this case is more than it has to be. The service was good and fast enough. The ambience is nice even though the tables are very close to each other.

Yelp
Visiting TO for work and found this gem. Food, ambiance and service were outstanding! Staff was naturally friendly and attentive without being overbearing or scripted at all. Wonderful experience!

Yelp
Found this place on Eater and it did not disappoint! Beautifully composed dishes that taste as good as they look! The cocktails are as well-thought out as the food. Phenomenal service by the staff, which you cannot tip as gratuity is included in the pricing. Would happily come here again!

Yelp
A couple months ago I had the opportunity to try a variety of dishes from Richmond Station's à la carte menu with a big group of friends. From start to finish, I was stunned with novel tastes and textures, so when I had the opportunity to head back for their holiday chef's table tasting menu, I leapt at the chance. Richmond Station opened in 2012 in the core of Downtown Toronto. Good luck identifying what kind of cuisine they have there. Just know that you'll be having seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and an eclectic array of dishes. Sitting at the chef's table, you have a direct view of the dance happening in the kitchen. Additionally, when you dishes are prepared, different members of the staff appear in front of you, present the dish, and chat with you a bit if you're so inclined. Though I didn't expect to, I really appreciated the variety of servers that we had. From the usual wait staff to Chef William Kresky who helped designed the menu, you'll be able to chat briefly about the food with those closest to it. We started with a selection of canapés, which are typically small pieces of bread topped with something savoury. My personal favourite were the duck pâtée bites. The pâtée itself has a rich flavour that I seldom get to experience, along with a delightful, smooth texture that pairs with the slight crunch of the pastry it's served in. Next up was the kombu cured salmon crudo. A crudo is something raw served with a vinaigrette. Of course you'd expect the salmon to be fresh, and given it's a crudo, for the dish to be zesty, but what surprised me the most was how much the truffle contributed to the depth of flavour of the dish. Before realizing there was truffle in the dish, I figured they'd somehow sourced the richest olive oil I'd tasted, but on further inspection, those truffle bits were shining. My personal highlight of the meal was the sunchoke custard. If you want to go on a flavour journey, try this dish. Given it's a custard, you take your first bite expecting it to lean on the sweeter side, but instead the custard is a mellow backdrop to the sweet brown butter bouillon, the rich but not overbearing black garlic purée, and the vibrant lemon slices. The whole thing is topped with holiday-appropriate chestnut chips for texture. The mains of the experience were a Nova Scotia lobster risotto and a game pie. By the name, I'd thought that the game pie was more of a pot pie, but it's in fact more a beef wellington, and they used a trio of different meats. The experience ended strong with a dark chocolate molten cake. The unctuous chocolate cake is sat in an inspired red wine peppercorn caramel sauce, and topped with vanilla ice cream. The caramel sauce is so red wine forward that you easily forget it's a caramel sauce at all. That sauce on its own needs to be bottled and sold! Finally, as an unexpected and unlisted denouement, you're served a brittle meringue cookie topped with what I perceived as a thick raspberry sauce and a ginger mousse, and a jelly candy. The whole experience was heart warming, fun, and of the highest quality. If you're okay paying for the fine dining experience, and you're looking to treat yourself, I can't suggest anywhere better. The Station awaits.

Yelp
Had a fantastic meal at Richmond Station recently. Everything on the menu sounded incredible but my friend and I opted for the Station burger and the new chicken dish which came highly recommended from our server. The burger was cooked a perfect medium rare, very flavourful and paired well with the crispy fries. The chicken dish was incredible, I've never had chicken breast that was so tender and the karaage was seasoned very well. I think the fried chicken could have done with a little less time in the fryer but nonetheless everything tasted fantastic and I'm excited to come back here to try their other entrees. One of the perks is that their menu prices are inclusive of gratuity so you don't have to think about what to tip at the end of your meal. I'd highly recommend getting a reservation as it was quite packed on a Monday night.

Yelp
I was worried that this place wouldn't live up to the hype but it SURPASSED my expectations. Ive never been to Toronto and had one night to pick one restaurant out of thousands. I crossed referenced all review sites and this had the best reviews and a kids meal menu. I was worried because I brought my 2 and 5 year old, but I'm so sick of eating at Chick-fil-A s . Let me just say there is no better service and the entire staff couldn't be friendly. We ordered the fried mushrooms, the bread, the children's pasta which is homemade and grilled cheese. I ordered the agnolotti which is also homemade and my husband got a burger. Absolutely everything was delicious. The agnolotti was probably one of the best things I have ever eaten . It was savory, unique, crisp and bright . They also give you chocolate at the end. I asked where the chocolate was from because it was OUTSTANDING and they said it was homemade and I can't buy it so they gave me some more. This place is a STEAL for the quality of food and service. I'm obsessed.

Yelp
We have been to Richmond Station previously when we stayed in Toronto the last time it was excellent. We were surprised to be seated at the same table as our previous visit upstairs with a full view of the kitchen. Calling earlier in the day to secure a table the same night. Our reservation was for 8:15 and we were seated at 8:30. Our waitress Bea was quiet but friendly and attentive. The only issue i had was she did'nt tell us about the specials. We started off with a couple of Spicy Caesar's/Bloody Mary's which were delicious. We have two children a tween and a teen. They ordered off the kids menu which has some teen friendly offerings. They previously had the Station Burgers which they enjoyed. This time they tried the pasta which had a weird shape and texture. So take this into account if your kids order it. We started out with the Oyster Mushroom app which my wife and I loved. Then for our main dish I had the Duo of Muscovy Duck, I thought the preparation of the one was a little more rare than I usually like for my duck but still acceptable. The second preparation was out of this world its at the top of the photo I took. My wife had the halibut which she enjoyed said it was a bit over salty. Overall the meal was great. Until next time.

Yelp
Service was good and the atmosphere is nice. Came here with a group of 5. This rating is based on the meal I had because their menu is does change every so often. I feel like I definitely enjoyed the sharing plates and appetizers more then the main courses. We loved their ricotta & red pepper dip. Most people loved their duck liver pâté, i thought it was a bit too sweet for me but I still like it because it was pâté. Their burger was cooked very well though it was a tad on the blander side. I ordered the lamb and to me it wasn't worth the price. It was on the dry side and very little meat. What I really loved was their basque cheesecake with strawberry sauce and basil. That is the one thing I crave to this date. Probably the best cheesecake I've had!

Yelp
We were lucky to get seated as a walk in on a Saturday night. Grabbed seats at the kitchen counter and enjoyed the show but it was a bit hot. We had the duck entree and the monkfish entree. Both were spectacular. If you have the cash you should indulge if you feel like a splurge

Yelp
The food always changes depending on season but the menu items are very creative. Service is fantastic, and they always check in with you. Great first date experience as it's a very formal setting. I've gone several times before and I will keep going again.

Yelp
Delicious, high quality, accessible food. Their burger is my favourite in the city, and I love sitting at the kitchen window and watching the staff do their thing.
